The store is spotless and well-organized, which adds to the overall great impression. The selection is excellent, from coho salmon and lobster to black cod, caviar, and specialty-packed tuna. They also stock high-quality dry goods perfect for assembling a sushi platter, plus unique finds like spruce jelly that I'm curious to try. Alex helped me and was friendly, knowledgeable, and made my first visit a great experience. This will definitely be my go-to for seafood from now on. But Haines Packing Fish Market has been on my radar ever since they docked ship. Was everything we expected and more. The customer service too. Cute store with some other grocery items... Wifey mentioned it's the first time here...so one of the owners included a nice package of Wild King Salmon for FREE to go along with packages of Sand Dads and Sablefish. The Sand Dabs and Sablefish was Fantastico. Prices are very reasonable -- especially for the quality. Looking forward to the Salmon and Halibut...and return visits when back in the area. Also want to try their Crab Cakes, Lobster and Sable Fish...and some catches of the day. It'd also like to express: Not all flash-frozen pre packaged fish is the same. But Haines has perfected their game. I eat fish more than any other source of protein. Sometimes I prefer the flash-frozen variety because it packs in the fish oil & flavor...and has a much longer shelf-life in the freezer. We picked up lobsters and crab cakes for a Sunday diner. You can't get one pound lobster tails at the market. On line they were 75 each plus 85 dollars for shipping for three! These were only about 57 dollars each and I picked them right up in La Quinta next to Costco. Our dinner was delicious and the crab cakes were full of crab. The nice gentleman even gave mom and I a can of salmon as well. We'll be back. read more

We tried Haines for the first time last week. We wanted some cod for simple fish sandwiches..... the gentleman there steered us to some Pacific Cod that would fit our purpose and I picked up some sand dabs also. The Cod sandwiches I made were fabulous and I made the sand dabs last night for dinner and they were delicious as well. Will definitely go back and purchase more and expand our fish selection! We heard a commercial about Haines Packing on TV and took a ride out to La Quinta, it was a beautiful well organized store, Marc the manager was very helpful. We enjoyed the Crab cakes which were delicious and filled with chunks of crab, we loved the Salmon filets. We have the Halibut and Shrimp in our freezer and we have a small can of Smoked Salmon to be mixed with Cream Cheese as Bagel spread. We are already talking about our next trip to Haines. On a winter getaway to the area we discovered this gem of a store. It was hard to believe the incredible variety and fresh frozen quality of the fish and seafood offered in the middle of the desert. Considering everything has to be shipped in, prices are very reasonable - especially for the Alaskan offerings from the store's own processing facilities. During our stay we returned three different times for cod, different types of salmon, crab cakes, scallops, black cod, and swordfish. read more

This is the BEST seafood in the desert! I've tried making seafood at home before using seafood from Costco, Ralph's and Fisherman's Market, but they don't compare to what you will find at Haines. I've tried their halibut, coho salmon and lingcod...all delicious...and even cooking them in a cast iron skillet on my cooktop, had no "fishy" smell in my house. Mark, the manager, helped me pick the filets, gave me preparation tips, pointed me to Desert Dust seasoning, and even gave me a free can of smoked salmon (also delicious) because it was my first time in the store.
