Had such a nice birthday dinner at Jack Dusty with my best friend, Sofia! We had actually been here once before for a Yelp Elite event, so it was nice coming back and already being familiar with the space. The atmosphere is beautiful and has that elevated, resort feel you'd expect from a restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton. Our server was friendly and attentive, and everything came out beautifully except for the risotto. The drinks were definitely the highlight of the evening! The bartender really went out of his way to create something unique based on what I was craving. I wanted something salty and savory, but didn't want another extra-dirty martini or a Bloody Mary. He took the challenge and came up with something that was absolutely on point! Overall, it was a really enjoyable birthday experience. Jack Dusty is definitely a spot worth checking out, especially if you're looking for a nice dinner and drinks in a beautiful setting. read more

We had a nice lunch here Saturday. I have not eaten here in about a year or two. The ambiance was very nice we sat outside with a nice view of the water and landscape. We were seated quickly and our waiter was very nice throughout the meal. We ordered the signature bread which was soft, chewy and unique compared to your typical restaurant bread, somewhat of an interesting cornbread. I ordered the fish tacos which were very good, the fish was crispy on the outside and thick meaty fish on the inside, we also ordered a mahi mahi fish sandwich with a nice ciabatta bread and a decent piece of mahi placed on some arugula, we had fries with both and they were thick and had a nice crunchy coating on the outside. Overall it was a good place to have lunch, especially if you're looking for outdoor ambiance. Food 7.5 Ambiance 8.5 Service 8.5 read more

We arrived early and were seated without a wait. The hostess desk was very accommodating and welcoming. The young woman who walked us to our table was polite, though not especially warm. We were initially seated inside, but it was too cold, so we asked to be moved outside. She didn't seem very pleased about having to reset the table and paused before returning to seat us. However, once outside, the atmosphere was beautiful with a very comfortable breeze. Our server, Lyle, introduced himself, was very friendly and professional. We really appreciated his excellent service and the interesting explanation he shared about the meaning of Jack Dusty. The ambiance was excellent overall. It was relaxing to sit by the bay and enjoy the view and fresh air. As for the food, I ordered the pork belly with sriracha sauce and oil. There was a bit too much sauce, which made the yummy tortilla soggy and spilled into the coleslaw. The pork belly itself was also quite salty. My husband had the avocado eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. For dessert, the peach cobbler cheesecake was amazing, as was the espresso. We also enjoyed the bread, which had a great story behind it, and the rum butter with a touch of salt was a wonderful addition. Overall, I would recommend Jack Dusty. And will be back read more

I came here for dinner my first night in Sarasota. The service from start to finish was incredible. The valet service was top notch and the staff/hostess were kind enough to give us a quick tour of the restaurant/lounge so that we could decide where to dine. They had an amazing musician playing the night we came. I'd recommend sitting close to them for relaxing dining music. The food was great. We had the tuna tartar, watermelon salad and rock shrimp cream corn. The tuna tartar was 10/10 for presentation and taste. The watermelon salad was good but I wish the watermelon chunks were a bit colder/more refreshing. The shrimp cream corn was also a 10/10. I loved the sweet taste of corn balanced with the slightly umami shrimp. I also had the pineapple non alcohol drink and it was very light and refreshing. Afterwards we walked around and sat by the water. The overall experience was amazing. I will be back for sure! read more

Patio was delightful despite the boiling hot day, and the cheeseburger was tremendous, super fresh bun super fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion. Cheese melted, perfectly (American ) cooked medium - will definitely put this in the cheeseburger rotation.. read more

I didn't eat here so this review is exclusively for the bar area and drinks. Came on a recommendation and was not disappointed in the famous siren cocktail! We ordered one with tequila and one with vodka and they were both excellent, even with the hefty price tag. I will say bar service was a bit slower than anticipated, and you aren't able to just enjoy cocktails at any of the tables. My group was not game for sitting outside (bummer) but that will be my move if I ever return. Order the siren! We split two between our group of four. read more

Jack Dusty feels like a whispered secret of the sea, where every moment is wrapped in the gentle breeze of Sarasota Bay. The shrimp cocktail arrives like a jewel--plump, chilled, and kissed by just the right hint of spice, a perfect prelude to what's to come. And those dry martinis? Ice-cold and sharp, garnished with cheese-stuffed olives that add a savory surprise with every sip. They are the kind of drinks that linger in memory long after the glass is empty. The food sings of the Gulf Coast--fresh, vibrant, and thoughtfully crafted--each dish a story told in flavor and texture. Service flows as naturally as the tide, warm and attentive, making you feel both at ease and celebrated. The ambiance strikes a rare balance: elegant and refined yet welcoming and accessible. Modern nautical touches blend effortlessly with a relaxed vibe, inviting everyone from casual diners to special occasion guests to feel at home. Whether inside or on the terrace overlooking the bay, Jack Dusty beckons you to slow down, savor, and simply be. Jack Dusty isn't just a meal--it's poetry on a plate and a toast to the coast. read more

Servías was great but unfortunately the food fell short in quality. The charcuterie board was average. The fish dip was good and the pickled onions added a nice flair combination. The lobster Cobb salad was ok, nothing to order again. For a drink and the atmosphere, stop in, but maybe skip a full meal. read more

Sooo, Jack Dusty was surprisingly good! I'm usually skeptical about hotel restaurant, there's often a high chance of high prices and bland food, but this one delivered. We had dinner, dessert, and breakfast here and enjoyed all of it. Tried a few different things on the menu, no clear favorite, but everything was solid. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area or staying at the hotel! read more

We stayed at the Ritz for our vacation in sarasota. And ate at the restaurant for lunch one day. They have an exceptional seafood menu. My husband got the fish tacos and very much enjoyed them. I'm vegetarian and the options were limited but the bartender was kind enough to discuss with the chef options to help accommodate my dietary restrictions and they made vegetarian tacos. Which was such a nice gesture. The tacos were filled to the top and the flavors actually worked well. They bar tender was great! read more

Great restaurant in the hotel food is amazing staff is great and know what to pick for you if you need help nice view

We weren't staying at the Ritz but we wanted somewhere fun to get some high quality desserts so we tried this restaurant. The staff were SO friendly and sat us at a table just for dessert even though it was 7:30 pm on a Friday night. I had a deconstructed s'more that was amazing and my husband enjoyed the peach pie cheesecake. We walked around the grounds after, which were lovely (had we noticed there was waiter service at the outdoor tables down by the pool level, we would have sat out there, but the inside was perfectly nice.) They have a valet but we found a free parking spot on the road leading up to the hotel. read more

While the food itself showed a little potential, it was served cold and appeared to have been sitting for some time. That can make people sick but we felt bad for her. Service was notably inattentive. Took almost an hour to get our bill. They said because of staffing shortages, the experience fell well below expectations. No effort was made to remedy the situation, and we were charged in full despite the issues and inedible food. We ultimately chose to dine elsewhere, where both the cuisine and service were markedly better. As a returning guest of the hotel, this was particularly disappointing. I would suggest exploring other options unless dining on property is your only convenience. read more

Great atmosphere, great music. Amazing views. I unfortunately got the JD steak sandwich.l; which seemed to have no seasoning. It seemed to just taste like I was having a steak sandwich with mayo and bread no salt no pepper. Would've been really nice if it had a chimichurri sauce for flavoring at least. Or a little salt. The fries were amazing. But my mom had the burger of which she thought was so delicious. And she's the worst critic than I am lol. Service took a little long, but everyone is friendly. read more

And here for Sunday brunch. Amazing location with a nice view. Gorgeous interior as well. Service was outstanding, friendly attentive and pleasant. They bring complimentary bread which was very interesting, I believe was made of polenta. It wasn't something I enjoyed, because I don't like sweet bread but I still could appreciate the sophistication of a recipe and how well made it was. I had poke bowl that was great, with fresh ingredients and great flavors. My husband had turkey BLT, was great as well, flavorful and delicious. We also got non alcoholic cocktails and those were amazing. Definitely recommend! read more

Brooke, our amazing server, led us through a wonderful al fresco dining experience at Jack Dusty - and the wonderful story behind the name (which I won't spoil). The shrimp and grits were original and tasty. The Jack tots were a treat. The mixed drink menu was solid as was the wine list. But talking with Brooke personalized our experience. The view of the marina and the Ritz Carlton grounds was lovely. read more

Since this is in the Ritz, a higher level of anticipation and expectations are in place. It has been a few years since we dined here but since it was our anniversary, we were looking for something elevated from the typical mediocre experiences in the area. Typically, we have gravitated to the Ritz in Naples and Amelia Island. The Sarasota Ritz just doesn't measure up to her sister properties. This was reinforced by our recent visit. Valet parking is validated when dining here - very nice, thank you. For a Monday late lunch in off season, it was fairly quiet. We wanted a table by the window so that brought us to the back of the restaurant. The table condition was very poor- it is surprising that it was still in the dining room. At least put a tablecloth on it so the beat up finish would be hidden. The house brown bread shows up in its baking tin and the server takes it out. The bread is more like a muffin- probably great for brunch but for other meals, it did not pair well with savory dishes. Although there were plenty of staff walking around and there were not many diners, the food took about 30 minutes to show up , no one checked on us, it was very slow service. It looked like a Manager and another employee were glued to the front desk area- never circulated. Despite Pellegrino water bottle on our table, no one stopped by to pour it. ( that sounds odd - but this is a Ritz and service should anticipate !) My Aperol spritz was delicious and hubby enjoyed his pinot noir. Hubby ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer and it had way too much mayo sauce on it. My "deconstructed" tuna poke was yummy, good portion. Server brought wasabi and soy sauce when I asked for it. Here is where the Ritz service exceeded expectations- I had mentioned anniversary in my Open Table reservation and our chosen dessert was complimentary. The coconut sorbet was incredible! I asked for toasted marshmallows since I had noticed it on another dessert item. 2 were added and that was a amazing pairing. Yessss! I knew that the Ritz quality would surface somewhere!! So- overall it was a positive visit but frankly there is not much competition in Sarasota for fine dining. Perhaps that is why this location seems to be below its sister locations. read more

I was very dissatisfied that we were not seated outside as requested. The young lady insisted that it was a "preference" what I chose on Open Table not a "request". She even said that by choosing the preference, my husband & I would have to wait (and not get the 6:30pm RSVP). We realized we missed the music playing and the great weather outside on the terrace. Call the restaurant to double check ur seating & RSVP. Food & the service (waitress) were excellent. read more

I'm local to Sarasota. Used to frequent the restaurant and sort of stopped going because of the quality of the experience- environment, food and service. Decided to return yesterday for a mid-afternoon 'pick me up' and we were pleasantly surprised and impressed with all three of the aspects mentioned above. The icing on our cake was the very pleasant, attentive and professional service we received from Cynthia/Cindy. Just wanted to put this out there - good service is always expected but exceptional service is a rarity. Thank you! read more

This review is for the outdoor patio at the Ritz, which is just beyond Jack Dusty. Lovely, quiet, multi-level canal-front patio area with fire pits and comfy seating. Nice sunset views, cocktails and apps are the expected Ritz quality (and prices lol). Always nice for a sunset drink. read more

The food, the service, and the atmosphere were amazing. The sunset was fabulous. The bread was different but good with the butter and salt they brought with it. I pieced my meal together with sides, blackened grouper, and a side of green beans and grits. The grits were definitely big enough to share. The opera drink was soooo good, I loved the edible flowers in it. The chocolate brownie was delish. We had 2 servers, and both were fabulous. They were able to split our bills accordingly and split the dessert on both tabs. read more

Very good restaurant I've eaten at jack dusty several times and the food is always top notch. It's a bit pricy 18 dollars for pancakes without a breakfast meat. The food was abundant and it came out very hot. My grouper tasted more like cod but it was delicious nonetheless and my wife's salad was very tasty. She added some shrimp which she had to peel herself but they were nice size. We sat outside and the view was a pretty good view. I'd recommend sitting outside especially on a nice sunny day with no humidity. The service was average but he was at least friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The drinks we heard are pretty good but the presentation of some of the ones we observed walking by look refreshing. The cost of these items are more than average but take in account that this restaurant is inside "The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Sarasota Florida. You only live once so I would at least give it a try. Overall, the ambiance of the Jack Dusty restaurant was really lovely, as one would expect at a Ritz Carlton. But service just wasn't as amazing as I wanted for a special birthday brunch. We arrived on time for our reservation but needed to wait 15 - 20 minutes for a table outside, which was fine, but we got a table off to the side with an obstructed view and it really put a sour start to the meal. All the others waiting ahead of us and behind us each got premium tables, and the hostess knew it was a special occasion for our group. I would have waited even another 5 - 10 minutes to get a better view. I should have said something, but I was trying to be easy. Once seated, our server took a little too long to come over to greet us and offer us drinks. The mimosa was entirely OJ pulp...terrible. The food was all fine, but nothing amazing. Service was very slow. I wouldn't go back. read more

Jack Dusty restaurant is located within the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and is indeed in keeping with the standards of a Ritz-Carlton. However, in a very pleasing way it is rather laid back and casual with a pleasing unpretentious comfortable décor. The menu is rather small but encompasses most foods, especially seafood. Beloved and I both decided upon having their whole fried snapper. When it was served it not only looked delicious but to my surprise came with a delicious Puerto Rican pique sauce. I asked them about their sauce and was told it wasn't Puerto Rican. I won't labor on it but I'm sure I'm correct as it looked and tasted exactly as those delicious sauces found along the roadside stands in Puerto Rico and I do not know of any other pique sauce that isn't rooted within any other culinary culture. One very interesting and rather delightful novelty is that they serve you a really delicious maple-tasting bread from a can. Jack Dusty is a really good restaurant and one that I can without hesitation recommend. read more
