Abie P. Sleeey'd my hair! Asked for a warm balayage and she delivered. The Salon also has such a cute, boho vibe to it. The other stylists at J Wade are also very sweet and nice to talk to. But seriously, go to Abie for all your hair color, cut and style needs. Shes amazing and will take great care of you! thanks Abie! read more

Best studio in Chicago!!! Jealissa has been doing my hair since I was around 25. I'm currently 31 and often joke that it took me about 25 years to really know how to embrace my curls and that is 100% due to her help! Jealissa cuts and colors my hair in a way that brought them to life and has made them easy to manage. Most importantly she has taught me how to style my curls (or straighten them) on my own. I didn't realize before going to her how important it is to find someone who is willing to help you figure this out. One reason I really give both Jealissa and Jen credit is they help their clients maintain their hair in a manageable way. When mine grows out and is overdue for a cut (#QuarantineLife) you cannot tell. The color fades nicely as well. I honestly don't know how she does it! She is also mindful about the maintenance as it relates to expenses. I don't get a full cut, color, highlight, & gloss every time. We assess as needed which has undoubtedly saved me so much $$ over the years. I recommend her to everyone I know and a few friends have since started going to her too. We sometimes schedule our apts back to back and pop champagne with Jealissa in Jen in their GORGEOUS studio. It makes for such a fun "treat yo self" type day. It's also worth noting that I have very thick, curly hair. My best friend who goes to Jealissa has very thin, straight hair. She has helped us both navigate these differences with product and styling tips over the years. (I've included some pictures of us.) I know both girls at JWADE studio have a talent to help anyone feel confident and happy with their hair. Lastly, I attended 10 weddings in 2019. Almost all were outside Chicago but Jealissa was so helpful in teaching me simple styles I could do on my own. When my BFF got married last November she kindly helped us pin up the bride-to-be's hair at our back-to-back apts. This helped me successfully pin her hair up at her wedding reception with no hiccups. If you need a new stylist you will not be disappointed! read more

Absolutely happy with my turn out! I no longer live in Chicago but I do need to give a shout out to Jen who does an amazing job on cut and color. When I lived here, Jen was the only stylist who can cut and color CONSISTENTLY- she is super talented, meticulous, and sweet. I lived in Chicago for 7 years and have been to quite a few salons. I recently moved and hoping I can find someone that is just as good as Jen! Jen is a GEM! read more

I've been going to Jen for over 3 years, and couldn't possibly say enough good things about her. She dyes my hair a white icey blonde, and I probably get a compliment on it every other day. I used to have a pixie cut, which she did such a good job cutting. Now that I've been growing my hair out, she tells me all the things I need to do to keep it healthy and strong as it grows. She's even taken extra time to teach me how to properly curl and style it! Besides the work she does, I love chatting with her. She is such a gem. And her studio is a beautiful space! Her prices are fair, too. Like I said, I couldn't say enough good things about her : ) read more

Wow, where do I start!? Let's rewind to FIVE years ago, when I was strolling through Instagram looking for some hair help and guidance. After some time snooping around Chicago salon pages, I stumbled across Jen's. She had this beautiful blonde fun fro at the time and I loved it! My hair used to be just as curly and full as hers but after years of straightening it, relaxing, and just overall burning it off it was barely hanging on. So, I DM'd Jen and the rest is history. From the moment I met her at my consultation, I knew I was in great hands...and that might be the understatement of the decade! No other salon has touched my hair since I sat in her chair and no one ever will. She literally SAVED my curls and taught me to love and appreciate them. I've sent countless amount of family and friends to her and Jealissa and will continue to do so. Outside of their obvious skills in their craft, they are the most beautiful souls inside and out. They've curated such a special safe space for anyone who enters their humble abode on Berteau. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this experience that you deserve! read more

I've been trusting Jealissa with my hair for almost 3 years now so much so that I followed her to Jwade Studio. She is very attentive to my requests and she offers great advice and hair knowledge during our consultations. She has colored, cut & styled my hair and I can definitely attest that her work is amazing! Most recently she gave me a lob & i love it. The studio is super cute & welcoming (the lighting is great for IG pictures!) I look forward to all my appointments with Jealissa and the JWade team & I can't wait until I have to go back. read more

J Wade Studio - Lob haircut by Jealissa - Hair Salons Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I was on the hunt for an awesome hairstylist in Chicago after mine moved out of state. I tired 3 other salons... and then I met Jen. Jen is a hair wizard, boss lady, the kindest human, and will make you feel like your best self. On top of her skill - Her studio at JWade feels like home. Pre-Covid, there's always coffee, drinks and snacks available to clients. There's plenty of natural light and plants everywhere - you just feel good! In addition to coloring my hair - Jen did my hair & makeup for my mini covid wedding. I was literally in awe by how beautiful she made me look, my hair and makeup looked great all day/night. I can't wait to work with her and Jealissa next year for our big wedding. My husband sees Jealissa, who's equally as talented. She corrected Eric's unintentional mullet and gave him the tools and confidence to style his hair - he gets super into it now and looks great! If you're looking for a stylist in Chicago - do not look any further than Jen & Jealissa. They'll make your hair dreams come true, and you might even end up with some new friends. Xo read more

Jealissa has been my hair stylist for a year now but it was my first time going to JWade studio which was absolutely gorgeous. Jealissa and the owner are very friendly and accommodating. It is definitely an experience. The studio is nicely decorated with lots of natural sunshine and very chill music. I got a curly hair cut with Jealissa and she did an amazing job. It was the first time receiving a curly cut and the the first wearing my natural curls in many years. She made the transition very easy for me. She walked me through the products she was applying to my hair while also showing me how to style it on my own. I would definitely recommend the stylists at JWade studio and the stylists to anyone looking to receive a great hair cut and an overall great experience from the moment you walk in :) read more

I "forget" to cut my hair for months and then don't know what I want, basically I'm a hair stylist's worst nightmare but Jealissa was awesome! She listened to my hair needs, gave me a cut that grew out well and was easy to manage. The salon is beautiful but also comfortable and inviting with easy parking. read more

It's day 6547 of quarantine but my roots know they're not invited to this party. Jealissa is a color magician. It's been almost four months since I've had my hair glossed/highlighted but you'd never know thanks to Jealissa's wizardry. Jealissa and Jen are the best. I've gotten my hair done at places where I felt uncomfortable, not welcome, not cool enough to be there, whatever. These woman want to make everyone that walks through their door feel happy, welcome, and confident. They are truly talented, they work as a team, and they're FUN. At the end of this nonsense, book an appointment with these Hair Geniuses! read more

I've known Jen since her apprentice days. Almost a decade later and she's my longest lasting relationship. If you're not her, you can't touch my hair! Seriously, I've moved to several states over the years and still she's my first stop when I'm back in town. This boss babe and hair god is incredibly talented. We've come to a point where I just sit and let her have creative freedom to do her thing. She's never let me down! read more

Jen and Jealissa are the absolute best! They take the time to get to know each of their clients and their hair needs. The ambiance of the salon is so comfortable. They are so detail oriented and perfectionists they will make sure they spend as much time on each client to make their hair goals come true! I highly recommend JWade! read more

Jealissa is by far one the most professional and talented hair stylist I've ever come across. She's so detailed oriented and a perfectionist!! Never rushes to just get your hair "over and done with". She's even spent up to 5+ hours on my hair to make sure it's perfect!! The studio itself is so cozy, both Jen and Jealissa go above and beyond to take care of their guests. I love them both. Extremely talented artists, would highly recommend them both!! read more

I will never have my hair cut by anyone else. Jay takes her time to listen to what I am looking for and is honest about the results. I have curly hair and I feel she really understands how to work with. She takes her time and the results show that. She has both cut and colored my hair I have never been disappointed. If you have curly hair and want an awesome haircut with someone who is not too scared to venture off from the normal cuts come here. I promise you wont be disappointed!!! read more

I had the pleasure of having Jealissa cut my hair for the first time and I feel like I hit the lottery. I have had a few people cut my curls but NO ONE has cut them like her. This studio is amazing!!!! Love love love. I get my hair done by jealissa and she is awesome. To be honest they are both awesome ladies! Very welcoming, also ask if you need anything. I can never say anything bad about them or this studio. I highly recommend either of them. Thank you girls for what you do. Always got me looking right!!! Thank you read more

I have so many good things to say about JWade. Jen and Jealissa are very welcoming and create the environment you always want out of a haircut experience (fun, good snacks, Jen's vision on my hair cut and style was truly legendary). But, the most important thing I want to put out there is if you have fine hair, Jen is AMAZING. With previous cuts, I've always been told that I couldn't pull certain things off because my hair is too thin/fine to be cut like that. Jen never said anything like that and gave me the cut previous stylists told me was impossible. Jen made my hair have the texture and shape I've always wanted. Thank you thank you! read more

I have been going to Jennifer for years now, and every time I get my hair cut by her, I receive so many compliments, even months later when my hair style grows out. She is not only INCREDIBLY talented, but she's a sweet person with tons of knowledge about hair. She will always be happy to share tips with you and recommend products and tools that will work best for your hair. I will never stray away from her! read more

Jennifer is amazing stylist. Fabulously consistent cuts and the cherry on top is she always styles it beautifully! Encourages you to bring in pics of what cut and style you are looking to achieve and delivers 100% of the time! Only stylist who I walk out and love the cut and blowout. She is the best! read more

I'm incredibly picky with my hair coloring, so finding Jennifer was a godsend. I've been with her for years, and was so proud of her when she opened her own studio. Not only is it an adorable and super convenient space, but they make you feel special from the second you walk in. For anyone who really cares about their cut and color (check out their work on their Instagram page @jwade_studio), this is the place to go! read more

The best of the best!! There is nothing bad and everything good to say about Jen and Jealissa. They are talented, thoughtful, and the absolute cutest duo in the hair game. I've only gotten my hair done by Jen, so can only personally speak to her magic, but I've seen what Jel can do and it's nothing short of perfection. Jen's attention to detail and the uniqueness of each client's hair makes you feel understood and confident before she even begins to work. She hears you out, explains her vision, and comes up with a collaborative plan that leaves you with the cut/color of your dreams. I trust every recommendation she makes, whether it's about cut/color or products. The salon itself has the most welcoming, cozy aesthetic (there are jars of Oreos and pretzels, and a fridge full of soft drinks and booze), so no matter how long you spend there, you always feel comfortable. I've referred all of my friends to Jen and they've all be beyond thrilled with their experience. Wish I had an excuse to go back more often! read more
