Overdue review, it's been a few months and they've moved since I picked up my pictures. I was moving some things around on a closet shelf and came across some old proof sheets. Old as in don't even ask. These were taken by a friend for practice and a hell why not. I never went about enlarging any and have no idea what I did with the negatives. These also were the type of shots that I didn't want to take to Walgreens or CVS to have some teenage idiot making prints of. So I decided to find a place that deals with head shots and commercial photography. My order was handled professionally, with quality prints priced just right. They were also completed a day early. I didn't have to get these printed up, however I'm glad I did, it was fun to take a look back in time. read more

I never leave reviews here but I was so impressed with the hands on customer service that I had no choice! John was incredibly attentive and fast with my request for a same day large order. Something many other print shops that I called couldn't accommodate. Next time I'm in Chicago I will definitely be using their services!!! read more

Wonderful service and product. Ordered some photos and beyond happy with the quality. Have been looking for a printer for cards, invations, etc for a while and finally came across j&s. So happy to have found them! read more

I needed a photo printed in somewhat of a rush and John worked with me on getting it done; Would highly recommend and will go back to them again. read more

I and S provided terrible quality photos. When I said that the headshot proof they gave me didn't accurately reflect my original print they said, "You don't have to worry about that. You're a pretty girl and you will get work anyways." Do not support J & S until they improve their business practices. And I hope they do. read more

Fast. Professional. Competitively priced. J&S printed my newest color headshots and they turned out beautifully. The paper and color quality was wonderful and they were ready in three days. I will definitely go back for all my headshot reprints. read more

I called in for a last minute job on a Saturday, and they accommodated me with ease and professionalism. I was able to email my image to them, and they completed a small number of prints within an hour or so. They made sure to get my approval of the print before printing as well. When I arrived before closing, my order was ready, and the owner was friendly. Their entrance is in the back, where the parking is. Their prices are listed on their website as well, and they're fairly reasonable for the quality. I was very pleased with my experience. read more

Great job fixing my photo for a school class pic and doing great prints. Super communication and got it done quicker than expected.

Love this place. I've had four rolls of 35mm film processed here and the results were far beyond anything I could've expected from my unskilled hands and it's 100% due to their work. I will continue to have my film processed here for as long as I'm in Chicago. Their prices are great but in the end, if you're an occasional film photographer, then it's the end product that really matters and these guys transcend any other place I've been. Just a note. They do take credit card but they'd prefer you to use cash if your order is under $10. read more

If I could give these guys 100 stars, I would. Friendly, willing to help, fast, and skilled. Grateful I met them! Best photo developing in Chicago! read more

They communicate well via email, my photos are crystal clear and they gave me good advice for my model portfolio.

These people are utterly incompetent. First, I fill out their order form online and get no response. Then I do it again and get an email asking me to fill out the same form again and asking if I want print proofs, which I clearly indicated in the same form the first time. Then I get another email telling me how I can make my order by email or phone, asking if I want print proofs. What? Didn't I already indicate that...twice? So I call in my order and ask for print proofs. The girl I speak says they'll be ready in a day or two and I tell her I'll come in that Saturday to look at them. She asks me to reply to the previous email and let them know that way. Huh? The phone conversation isn't enough? I do so, clearly stating what I discussed with the girl on the phone... Then I get an email reply asking me again if I want print proofs! Obviously, whomever replied didn't actually read my email. Saturday morning comes along, so I call them to make sure the print proofs are ready. The gentleman I spoke to says my order wasn't ready because their printing machine broke on Thursday, but later orders had been done and all he could find was a hand-written note about doing my print proofs. Didn't the girl on the phone say they would be done in a day or two (way before the machine broke)? And once the machine was fixed, shouldn't they have done my proofs first? He's very kind and apologetic about the situation and says the machine should be fixed by Monday and he'll have the proof prints mailed to me a.s.a.p. Today, I get an email saying my proof prints are done and asking me to come in to look at them. Ugh. Yeah, I'm done with these folks. read more

Love these guys. They've printed two rounds of my headshots now and I'm going to be sending them portfolio prints very soon. Couldn't be nicer. read more

I can't believe how easy this was. I filled out their online form during the weekend, and got a response first thing Monday (as indicated). The photo I sent in was not cropped correctly, so they cropped it and sent me a proof right away to make sure it was what I needed and it looked great. As I was unable to come in during their business hours, I let them know to ship them to my home address. They responded right away that they were sending them out via Fedex Ground. All of our communication was very prompt and took place over a couple hours at most. As I had an audition the same week, I was a little skeptical if they would get to me on time, but sure enough, they were delivered the next day! As they were my first head shots, I was a little skeptical and being hard on myself, but I took them out and was thoroughly impressed. Thank you so much, J & S! read more

I am a freelance makeup artist in the city. I moved back to Chicago a few months ago and needed some portfolio (9X12) prints done to update my book. I looked for reviews and came across J&S Photo and people were raving about Jerry and Sharon so I thought I would give the business a try. Now I am the one raving about J&S Photo!! I wish I had work to drop off here everyday just so I can see these amazing people. The service is excellent and the quality of the prints are great. The turnaround is so quick and the prices are very competitive. After only one visit they remembered me which is rare in customer service. I have been back 3 times and will continue to take any photo work to them! Jerry and Sharon you are appreciated. Thank You. read more

2-3 day turnaround. Good pricing. Excellent results; nice paper and color. Much better than the last printer I used.

I've used J & S several times over the past few years for headshots and have always had a good experience. They are remarkably nice, extremely easy to work with, and the quality is excellent. I don't recall if I've used their rushed services, but their regular service seems quite fast to me. I will use them again. read more

Great Service! Good price! Super nice folks. Parking was pretty easy too.

I had a casting call to go to on a Thursday and placed an order to have my headshots printed at a CVS pharmacy on Tuesday night. When I picked them up Wednesday morning, the top border surrounding my picture was completely cut off. More than $20 went to waste for 5 crappy headshots. Desperate, I found J&S Photo Service online and called them right away to see how much it would cost to get them printed the same day. I talked to Jerry who was absolutely wonderful and so accommodating to my deadline. I sent him my headshot via email and he had them printed and ready for me to pick up only 3 hours later. Even though I had to pay a small rush fee, I got 25 headshots for about $40 - WAY better price and quality than the ones from CVS. I will DEFINITELY be going here for all future print jobs! read more

Gorgeous, durable paper. They put my name on a landscape head shot, and it looks professional and sleek. Quick turnaround--less than a day for 25 prints with no retouching. Will order again! read more

For all your printing needs, I recommend working with J & S Photo Service, Inc. Each of my experiences has been nothing short of wonderful. My very first experience was arriving 20 minutes after they had already closed one day. Jerry and Sharon Moy, the owners, saw me walking to the door of J & S from their car. Although they told me that they were closed, they asked me how they could help me. When I asked them if they had information that I could take with me, they immediately opened the door to their business and showed me samples of the work they could do for me. I have been dealing with both Sharon and Jerry on different occasions. They have helped me navigate many areas of the industry whether it was by phone, by email or in person. When I went there in person, the volume of work I saw was proof of the trust many other clients place in them. Even with the many jobs they have, I received every order when it was promised to me. The quality of the prints is amazing for my professional portfolio. I will continue to use J & S Photo Service, Inc. for my professional and personal digital prints. read more

J and S photo are simply THE best. I needed 9x12's within 3 days notice and they were able to get my prints to me, just in the nick-of-time. read more

The greatest little shop with the nicest people. Get head shots and business cards with head shot for very low prices. Great work !

Not that they did something wrong, they just have not done anything at all! Or did not lift a finger. Mainly it is a heads up for you, fellow photographer. They take JPG files ONLY via email. My problem was that I looked up their website briefly (did not notice that, did not call in advance) and hoped on my bike. Biked little over an hour and once there I was instructed, that they would not accept my files unless it is delivered via email. No thumbdrive not SD Card. Nada. It is good that I had my laptop with me. - Do you guys have a Wi-Fi so I could quickly email it to you? - No, we do not have a public Wi-Fi, I was told. - Do you know any other photo lab around that would take my SD Card? - It's like asking a water for another restaurant.. - guy mumbled something. And handed me his business card. I just had to turn around and bike back for another hour until I was able to reach my not-public Wi-Fi. I though I will share my brief encounter with this photo lab rather than emailing my files this time around. Good luck! read more

Wow. After rushing around in traffic and getting stuck in construction, they understood where I was coming from and waited 15 minutes after closing in order for me to grab headshots needed that day. When Joe found out I had an audition 45 minutes later, he said this was just like the scene in Magnolia (he was shocked I hadn't seen it, but I can't do everything right) and yelled, "Nail it!" as I left. Yep. Actors in Chicago are right. This place is the best of the best. read more

LOVE this place! I go here all the time for my headshots. The guy here is awesome and helps me out a lot! I recommend this place if you need pictures or headshots printed out. Prices are really good and they get the job done right and quickly! THUMBS UP! read more

I went to J&S after hearing good things about them from my agent. Quite ironic that my agent turned out to be a hack. I submitted a photo for prints. When I got the print back, the photo was completely skewed and my head looked squished. I called to talk to the "talent expert" and see if we could fix the problem. Not only was he unaccommodating, he completely denied that there was a problem at all. This, coming from someone who should have an "expert eye" for these things. How are you going to fix a problem if you refuse to see it? What happened to "the customer is always right"? Even if he didn't see a problem with the photo, he still should have tried to figure out a way to satisfy my needs. I wasted about a week of my time with these hacks, but hopefully something will good will come out of this if it saves someone else's time read more
