We had made reservations to eat here at this restaurant due to never eating here before. Due to traffic we were unable to make our reservation on time and when we arrived they said they could still accommodate us. After waiting for about 10 min they came to tell us they no longer could accommodate us unless we were willing to wait 2 hours which we did not want to do. The ambiance in the restaurant was very beautiful. Even the bathroom was very nice. The menu you looked like it was going to have some good food but unfortunately we would not be able to stay and see about it due to the long wait.

I went for dinner last night with 2 friends. The meal was good and I received helpful advice from our server on what wine to get based on my palate preference. My veggie burger was delicious and the shoelace fries equally addicting. Unfortunately, after we ordered coffee following our meal, our server completely disappeared. We waited 20 mins for the dessert menu and a 2nd cup of coffee but then left.

Came here for a nice date night pre-show dinner before going to see a play at Drury Lane. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was great. I had the pecan coated trout which was good. I switched the coleslaw side for the broccoli and it was very good. Perfect cooked. The trout could have had more sauce on it. My husband had the pork chop and also liked that a lot. I also had a fleur-de-lis martini that was delicious. The place is large and was a great date night location. I would suggest it for dinner if you are in the area and looking for a nicer dinner experience.

The food here is pretty good. The drinks were very good. The portion size of the dishes were big. The waiter was really nice. We even met the manager, she brought over the complimentary birthday carrot cake which was moist and good. I just hoped for a little more variety of the food. I love salmon and I wasn't impressed with the option.

The ambiance is great! Excellent service and the has never disappoint. We frequent this establishment often and never have I experienced bad service, or food. Great menu. My favorite entree is the French dip! Thinly sliced and cooked to perfection medium rare! They have the Auju ever! The fries are shoe string thin and not sure what seasoning they sprinkle on them but you won't stop eating them . The Alex salad is the right portion to share with two. Overall no complaints about this restaurant. Sorry I forgot to get a picture of my French dip sandwich.

We knew that this restaurant has been around, but we always "take our time" before we try anything. Like usual, we are always looking to try different restaurants and of course we always read the reviews, check out the menu and have a discussion about it all before we go. Yes, it's that important. We made reservations for a Saturday afternoon and got seated right away. Joe was our waiter. The booth was really nice and so was the ambiance. For the drinks, I got a cranberry juice and he got the lemon drop mojito. His drink was nice and tart. The cranberry juice was just ok. Our friends recommended the chicken pasta soup and Alex's salad. So that's what we started with. My husband knows that I'm a harsh critic (the female version of Gordon Ramsey) and a very picky eater, so he let me taste everything first. I went through the soup with a spoon to see what was in it. It consisted of chicken pieces with penne pasta and a variety of vegetables in a cream based broth. It was sprinkled with parsley. I wasn't sure about it so I took a small bite just to see. It was surprisingly delicious! A little salty, but still acceptable. Everything in the soup blended together perfectly. He agreed. Next was Alex's salad...it was amazing! One of the best salads I had in a long time. Fresh and tasty ingredients, but the ranch dressing and the croutons were top tier. We both absolutely loved it! In the meantime, the service was slightly off. Joe forgot our extra ranch dressing and only gave us 3 paper napkins for the both of us. What are we supposed to do with just 3 napkins? We definitely needed more than 3. Ok, back to the food... For the main dish we wanted to try something "safe" since this was our first time here. We both ordered the steak burger. According to the menu, the beef is made from tenderloin and ribeye on a brioche bun. Instead of fries, we got the smashed potatoes. Ohhh mmm gee! We had steak burgers in the past, tasting like regular burgers. This J. Alexander burger actually tastes like steak! Annnddd the bun was fresh and toasted to perfection. The smashed potatoes were delicious too. No need for salt, pepper or gravy. It was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. Who knew that basic items on the menu (soup, salad, side) to be this damn good?! Everything was delicious, but the service was still slightly off. I told my husband that I would give this restaurant 4 stars because of the service. He told me to give it 5 because Joe really tried and to give him a benefit of the doubt. I wasn't totally convinced until a bit later. Remember what I said earlier in this review? I am a harsh critic. A female Gordon Ramsey. I critique everything and everyone when a review is being made by us. We received the check. $92 and some change. Ok, cool. After my husband paid the bill, Joe returned and thanked my husband and addressed him. By his last NAME. Out of all of the restaurants my husband and I ate out of over the years, NOBODY has ever addressed my husband by his name. That means sooo much! And because of that, Joe totally redeemed himself and now I'm writing this 5 star review for everyone to see. Yes, we will be back for more!

We had a birthday reservation at 7:30pm and we arrived a few minutes early. It took 25 minutes to be seated as the place was very busy. Erin was our server and she was awesome. Very attentive service! The food was so delicious. I had the Steak Maui marinated ribeye. The Filet Mignon was fantastic. The French dip torched it. Nothing better. Frankly the best we've had in a long time. The complimentary carrot cake was delicious. I would recommend this place but at a time whenever it's not so busy. Overall it's a good place to dine.

I wanted to treat my sister for her birthday at J. Alexander's in Oak Brook. We had a very pleasant experience with our server, Madison. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. We started with the Hong Kong Shrimp Appetizer; it was enough for three to four people, with plenty of shrimp and a tangy salad dressing. My sister ordered a house salad, and I ordered the Red River Chili. For my main course, I ordered the pork chop with Apricot Glaze, which was delicious, along with crisp broccoli and smashed potatoes. My sister ordered the French Dip Sandwich with au jus and shoestring fries. It was so big that she took half of it home. We ordered Carrot Cake (a little too sweet for me), a big seller on the dessert menu, and coffee. I would encourage you to make reservations. We would go back in a heartbeat. There's plenty of parking.

I haven't been to this restaurant since they closed the one that was in Chicago. So when I went I had great expectations since I used to patronize them all the time. It was pretty crowded on a Sat evening, luckily we had reservations so we were Sat fairly quickly. The atmosphere was ok. The lightening was dim so a bit hard to read the menus. David was our host and he was engaging. The chicken pasta soup was surprisingly delicious. I had 1 of the specials of the evening which was kabob on rice. The kabob was actually seasoned pretty well. My friend had the red snapper, a special. He liked it but I personally thought it needed more seasoning. He also put salt and pepper on it after I tasted it. I didn't have a bad experience just not sure I would take the drive to go to this particular restaurant.

    Ask the Community - J. Alexander's

Is it warm enough at their outdoor dining?

The answer to this question is subjective based on the comfort level of the individual, but they do have outdoor propane heaters that typically do a nice job of keeping patios warm in cooler weather.

    Is there outdoor seating?

    Yes

Is it Family friendly? Have a 1 year old & 4 adults. Yes? No?

I believe it is, would totally take young ones there

As we ordered drinks, he asked only my daughter (33 years old) and my niece (39 years old) for identification. My niece explained that she had her ID available digitally on her phone. Casper said he needed a physical ID but would check with a manager to see if the digital version could be accepted. After speaking with management, he returned and informed us that a digital ID would not be accepted. He explained that the restaurant's policy required physical IDs from anyone who appeared to be 30 years old or younger. When we expressed our frustration and said we would not be dining there because of this policy, he showed no concern and offered no apology. We were curious about a random age requirement if the server thought you "looked" 30 or younger although the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. Ryan, the manager, met us at the door, and we explained that we were disappointed that our niece could not order a drink despite having a valid digital ID. Rather than addressing our concern, he compared the situation to him being carded at liquor stores. We pointed out that this was a restaurant, not a liquor store, and that the policy appeared to be applied selectively based exclusively on the server's judgment. Ryan offered no apology and referred us to the General Manager. When Christa, the General Manager, joined us, we asked why the restaurant used a 30-year-old threshold when the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. She initially stated that the policy was to request IDs from all guests ordering alcohol. I explained that only my daughter and niece had been asked for IDs. She then revised her explanation, saying that servers request IDs from anyone who appears younger than 30, making the policy exclusively dependent on the server's judgment. We also pointed out that we observed a nearby table of younger-looking guests had been served alcoholic beverages, but their server did not ask for their IDs. Christa questioned our observation. What was most disappointing was that neither Ryan nor Christa apologized for the inconvenience or acknowledged our concerns. As first-time guests, we left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that we will not be dining at Perry's in Oakbrook again and has left a bad impression of Perry's management team, in general. If I could rate them a "no stars," I would.

Spring Rd. Gibsons has long been known as a go-to for a slightly upscale steakhouse experience in the suburbs. I hadn't been in years, but we were in the area and decided to go somewhere a bit nicer for dinner to celebrate my birthday, so we gave Gibsons another try. One highlight was the complimentary valet service, it was quick, easy, and very efficient. The restaurant was busy with lots of families and celebrations. The interior has a classic, almost mob-era steakhouse vibe, reminiscent of old-school 1930s-40s Italian-American dining rooms. Service was friendly and accommodating throughout the night. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and for my entrée I had a ribeye with a side of potatoes and broccoli. My friend ordered a filet mignon salad. We also shared a side salad. The food was solid overall, but the salads were a bit watery, and the ranch dressing was just okay. The steak was good, but not quite the standout I expected given the price point, ribs are close to $70, so expectations are understandably high. Everything felt consistent, but not particularly memorable. That said, Gibsons does feel very steady and familiar, which may be part of its appeal. It's the kind of place people return to because they know exactly what they're going to get. Even the bread was fine, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. One of the more memorable (and amusing) parts of the experience was the birthday tradition. I still can't fully make out what they're saying during the birthday song, it's loud, a bit barked, and honestly both funny and slightly intimidating. I can't decide if I love it or would be terrified by it as a kid. There was also an interesting moment with dessert, my ice cream was placed in a plastic bag inside a box of ice. Creative, but not exactly elegant. I definitely didn't eat it, but it was memorable in its own way. Overall, if you're looking for a consistent, classic steakhouse experience that leans more familiar than elevated, Gibsons fits that role. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, this visit was completely different and incredibly disappointing. From the moment we were seated, the service was slow and disorganized. It took an unreasonable amount of time just to receive the basic table items, especially the Brazilian cheese bread. We had already been eating for over 25 minutes and were nearly finished with our meal before the bread finally arrived. When we asked about it, the response was simply, "We're still baking them." That's not the level of service I expect from a Brazilian steakhouse. To make matters worse, the mashed potatoes and fried plantains were served cold. I also had to flag down our server to ask what had happened to our drinks. When she finally brought them, she commented that the drinks had already been made but "they just didn't know where to take them." That explanation wasn't reassuring, and being handed a soaking wet straw only added to the poor experience. Throughout the meal, our server rarely checked on our table. No one came by to offer drink refills, and I eventually had to get up and find a manager myself just to get another beverage. The meat selection was also far below what I expect from Fogo de Chão. Instead of the variety of premium cuts they're known for, we were repeatedly offered pork, chicken, and overcooked picanha. The premium cuts were either very limited or never made it to our table, making the experience feel nothing like the quality I've enjoyed during previous visits. I spoke with the manager about our experience, and to his credit, he sincerely apologized and immediately alerted the team. A young lady, who I believe was a supervisor, also came over to apologize and even offered my friend a complimentary dessert. I appreciate their efforts to recover the situation, but by that point, the overall experience had already been ruined. It's disappointing to see how much this location has declined. I've always considered Fogo de Chão one of the better Brazilian steakhouses, but based on this visit, the service, food quality, and overall dining experience have gone downhill significantly. I hope management takes these issues seriously because this experience was nowhere near the standard the restaurant is known for.

The venue Wasn't too crowded which was a plus. I decided to have dinner with reservations @3pm with the App OpenTable. On time for my reservation with no wait time! Seated immediately, I was excited to have my waitress named Arielle. Immediately, she accompanied me with complimentary bread and water along with the restaurant cocktail and food menus. She was very happy to be able help in any way to make me comfortable and was just a joy to have. My first course was the Iceberg wedge BLT, with my cocktail smoked old fashioned. For the second course I spoiled myself with the filet medallions with lobster tail Oscar style accompaniment sides; truffled mac&cheese, and crab fried rice with mushrooms and scallions. Sheeeshh! That meal was phenomenal! Lobster sat perfectly on top of the beef medallions as they both were served and with gratitude I ate every bit of it! Truffled Mac & cheese were so cheesy it was a perfect mouthful. The rice also had some delicious flavors that enticed my tastebuds with savory goodness! Everything was GOODT! Easter Sunday with great food, good company, and dope service ! Check em out!

We started with some lobster bisque and a lump crab cake appetizer. The bisque was sublime. The crab cake was mostly crab and paired with a delicious mustard sauce. My only complaint was that I wanted more. Having recently experienced a subpar upscale chain restaurant steak dinner at another restaurant, I was gun shy to order a steak, but was rewarded with one of the most tender and tasty cuts of beef in the Chicago suburbs. The literal topper was the red wine reduction...so good! My companion ordered (and shared!) the grilled scallops. A generous serving of tender, succulent scallops on a bed of delicious risotto. The combo made a great surf and turf experience. Desserts at these types of restaurants can be so overwhelming that even the thought of sharing seems like too much. But here, we had perfectly sized portions and a wonderful selection of treats to cap a great meal. We each ordered a different treat and it was the perfect amount. We are looking forward to bringing friends and family to return visits. Soon.

We sat in the bar and had a great server named Shawn. Shawn was engaging and provided great service. I'll definitely request him next time I visit. I wasn't drinking that night, but hubby solo'd it with a bourbon cocktail called a Paper Plane. He said it was very tasty, especially on the hot day. We shared the ahi tuna tartare to start. The tartare was a stack of tuna with tropical salsa and avocado. So fresh. It came with a basket of crispy lavish bread, I hope when the restaurant switches their recipe that they will continue making a seedless lavish for those who can't do nuts or seeds. Hubby had the wood grilled tenderloin salad for dinner. I had to get a taste of that tenderloin because it was cooked perfectly. It was so tasty and seasoned well. I had the wood grilled Idaho rainbow trout, swapping out the asparagus for carrots. The trout came with a dill mustard sauce which I nixed and just squeezed fresh lemon on the fish. The fish was moist and smoky. Of course, we had to get the little dessert shooters to end the meal. Hubby had the Belgian chocolate s'mores, which was ridiculously decadent. I had the more conservative raspberry cannoli dessert. These tiny sweet treats are delicious mini indulgences. I love them because you want something a little sweet at the end of a meal but don't want a huge dessert. I think they're perfect. I like Seasons 52 because every item on the menu has the calories listed. Their food is always very good and the service is top-notch. When I ordered the tuna appetizer, a manager came over right away and asked me about a seed allergy because they noticed I said no nuts and seeds on my reservation. They really pay attention to their customers needs. I highly recommend Seasons 52. Ask for Shawn!

The pork belly, ciabatta, and balsamic were all good individually, but together the flavors just didn't work. It felt mismatched... * Colorado lamb kebab: 10/10. This is one of the more $$ entrées on the menu, but it's absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too. I would definitely recommend this dish. * Foxtail paella: 8/10 flavorful orzo paella loaded with seafood. Definitely a sharing type of entree! Always a great time at Foxtail with great food and great service!

Steakhouses are not really my thing; I can count on my fingers the number of times I've been to one in my life. But Ditka's seemed intriguing because it was just around the corner from my parents' house. I am really glad this is where I saw the game and can concur with other Yelpers. This is not a Bears-themed steakhouse as much as it is a steakhouse with some Ditka art. Don't expect to see wall to wall memorabilia. But what this place does exceptionally well is food and service. The attentiveness was perfect - not obsequious, not absent. I ate lots of different sides and they were all good: the house salad; oven-fired bread; jalapeño hasbrowns; etc. Even though I did not try any of the entrees or steaks, this is clearly a restaurant for people who care about food.
