Great food and service. Dude got electric lemonade and pad Thai. I got Parmesan sole and sweet potato fries with an iced tea. We sat in the extended bar area. Music was playing at a volume that still allowed conversation.

Lunch specials was a HIT! A 3 course meal insisted of, an entree, appetizer, and lastly a dessert and let's not forget a glass of wine all for $39! Plenty of options for lunch! And plenty of seating. Our server was nice. He was quick and attentive. He also served us fantastic drinks. We had the cupcake moscato, and passion fruit margarita. Both were delicious! For starters, we ordered the smoked salmon flatbread with onions. For entrees we ordered the KG beef sliders, shrimp tacos and the KG double cheese burger! The burgers were amazing! You could smell the flavors just dancing in your nose hairs! Fries were even prefect! Even the salmon was perfectly smoked! Quick fast and delicious food is what Kona Grill delivered and we were completely satisfied! Check em out!

It was recently my birthday and my co worker wanted to treat me for my birthday! She suggested we try the Power Lunch and we can be back in time. If you want to guess if it was really 45mins. No no it wasn't. I don't work far from the location so the drive is about 7mins for me. When we walked in we were greeted and sat immediately. It was very modern insider and had a great vibe. We both ordered the Chicken Dumplings, I had the Bacon Cheeseburger with the bacon and sauce on the side and no tomato and she had the Chicken Sandwich and We had to have the Brownie to Go. The dumplings were very good which I was surprised because I don't normally like the filling in most dumplings but I enjoyed this one. My coworkers chicken sandwich was very dry they put the smallest amount of mayo possible. My burger was more bun than anything I ordered mayo and bbq sauce as I wasn't a fan of the sauce. Fries were my favorite. Brownie was good. Price for the power lunch was good. Service was a little slow for it to be power lunch. Overall I would come back and try something different.

This place has quietly become our Christmas tradition the last several years. It's one of the few places actually open Christmas Day and while that in and of itself is awesome, the drinks and food make it feel pretty special. In the process the new GM and staff seem to be hitting all the right notes. This year we didn't find the salmon lox on the holiday menu and skipped the sushi and went with the Fried Chicken Sando and Asian Salad with the macadamian crusted chicken. Both came out in a very timely manner and were killer, but the real stars of the show are still those killer martinis - both the espresso and holiday peppermint! We recommend getting there around 11 to get the best service, noting that bartender Justin took great care of us making for a fantastic holiday excursion here for a 3rd year in a row! Thx Kona Grill!

    It's just pretty!

BEST HAPPY HOUR : Located near O'Hare Airport, it's good for groups all the way to individuals just need a beverage at the bar. Whether you are from the Chicagoland area or not, this is a MUST swing by place to look into. The food is AMAZING! My favorite is the Parmesan Crusted Sole for dinner. The service can be hit or miss. However, the bar area is well attended to; Quinn is now our goto guy! Please take a glance at my pic of the Happy Hour menu. Cannot be beat!!!

I came here for lunch and although it was quiet that day I can see the potential of this restaurant. Dimly lite to give a more intimate feel, grab a booth and not a table cause then tables looked crammed together and I'm a lil too thick to be bumping into people. Anyway our waiter was super nice and very attentive which was a plus for me. My sister and I ordered some edamame and they were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of salt. I could sit there and eat them all day! Then I ordered the chicken and shrimp fried and and it was delicious! I think for the price they could have given a bit bigger person but I'm probably being greedy because it was so good and the shrimp was big too, not those invisible shrimps you get from the Chinese restaurant! I'm joking laugh! Anyway I will definitely recommend and I will definitely be back! Everybody let's meet at Kona Grill!!!

Kona Grill has been nothing but an amazing experience. I went in with no expectations and walked out a very happy person. First, the restaurant is decent, nice looking from the outside and them having an indoor/outdoor patio is a plus. The main hall is a bit dull but love the live fish tank behind the sushi bar. I ordered the Picasso roll, customized with spicy tuna and cucumber + mango. The staff was very kind enough to do that due to my restrictions. The quality of the fish was fresh and they apparently ground it fresh each day. You can tell immediately. The signature rolls are great pairings and the sauces including the spicy mayo and ponzu sauces are made in house. You would not be able to tell from the outside this place sells quality sushi but you will be impressed. I have also had the other items before that was good but I think the main sell for me here is the fresh sushi. Overall, staff was excellent and accommodating. Food is fresh and tasty and the rice had good texture with no complaints.

Wagyu steak fried rice (not much "wagyu")

So, as a seasoned reviewer, I can tell you guys one thing. Don't believe any of the people that just rate a place based on one person, especially when it's multiple people doing it one after another. It's very cringy and fake. I was very hesitant coming here based on the mixed reviews about the portion sizes and prices. My first choice was too busy so I reluctantly came here. The service was very friendly and attentive. That's a 5 out of 5. Honestly, the prices for the food we got was exactly like the negative reviews. We ordered meatballs, salmon crudo, salad, steakhouse burger, fried rice, sushi, and dessert. Not sure why my family wanted to try this place but it's a measly 2 out of 5. Not worth a visit to be honest. It was a waste of money. Definitely not a 4.6 on Google. That's fake. 3.6 on Yelp is too generous. -meatballs 1.5 - it was basically meatballs and mashed potatoes that I could have gone to the grocery store and made myself. Not worth $24 for 4 pieces. -salmon crudo 3 - this was good but it's the same price as the meatballs. This should have been like $13. -salad - basic salad for $15. -steakhouse burger 3 - it was a pretty good burger and good size. It will fill you up for sure. Not for $27. You can go to Freddy's to get a steak burger combo for less than $10. - the wagyu steak fried rice was $27 and barely had any wagyu in it. The sushi was laughable. The Las Vegas and coconut shrimp were like $22-23 for 5 pieces. These should have been $15-16 max. The shrimp was cut into tiny pieces. Desserts weren't any better. The double stacked brownie and chocolate cake were ridiculously $17.

    Kona Grill Happy Hour Menu

Regarding food prep and quality, this place cuts corners. My sister and I came to the Kona Grill shortly after 8 PM. At first we really liked the idea that on Mondays their Happy Hour appetizer prices are in effect all day. We'd missed the drink Happy Hour prices but they were going to return at 9 PM. So we decided to order some appetizers first, and at 9 order some drinks. My sister ordered 2 orders of spicy tuna roll and I ordered a crunchy crab roll and spicy shrimp tempura. What arrived was majorly disappointing. The two orders of spicy tuna roll, instead being made with fresh tuna, had been made with canned ground tuna and so overly-spicy that my sister could only eat one roll. Taking home the other roll was questionable. Then the shrimp tempura was some sort of previously-frozen battered dipped shrimp that had been rehested, to which the spicy mayonnaise and black sesame seeds had been added. The shrimp, tails on, should have been dipped in an ice-cold tempura batter and deep fried in hot clear oil. Well these had not been! The filling of the crunchy crab roll was ok, but it had been sprinkled with something fine instead of the crispy tempura crumbles. Using fake tempura crumbles makes sense for this restaurant since it makes fake shrimp tenpura. I can only wonder if Kona Grill serves the same quality of these items when Happy Hour pricing is not in effect! As business was slow, so was service; and despite this, with just the reflective decor alone, it was still a bit noisy. When 9 PM rolled around, we learned that the Kona Big Wave draft beer, that we'd been hoping to try, was out. So is this restaurant!

I ordered the filet medallions. If you normally order medium, order medium rare. Cut like butter and I have to say even at Capital Grille I would be asking for salt on the table. This meal did not need it. The seasonings were phenomenal and complimented both the meat and the vegetables along with the crispy potatoes. This was served beautifully arranged on the plate with broccolini and heirloom carrots, both of which were cooked to perfection along with crispy potato. I chose not to add the balsamic. My opinion, it would ruin the flavor.I have never had a better meal there, even though all of whatever I've had prior has been wonderful as well. This was to die for. I'm a big-time foodie practicing gourmet chef myself so I can tell you, trust me. I paired this with a glass of Pinot Noir. I would say let your personal taste decide on which one to order. We then ended the meal by sharing a panna cotta between 3 of us. Wish I hadn't shared LOL. It was topped with macerated blueberries and crumbled shortbread cookie topped with fresh whipped cream. Light, smooth and delicious. The perfect end to a fantastic meal. Hats off to the chef!!!!!

The Barria tacos were dry and then it hit us that we were not given the consommé that goes with our meal. I also ordered a side of chicken tortilla soup.......it was served lukewarm to cold. I looked at their Instagram page before coming and decided exactly what I wanted. It's so fun how they write a little story to go along with each cocktail and the thought process behind it. It definitely makes the drinks feel more personal and special. We started off with the Rose Tico Conundrum (very sweet and came with a little piece of raspberry candy) and Pepe Silvia's Pickle Party Plot (really delicious, was surprised by this one). Next we tried the speciality API month drink called Gratitude in Bloom (tasted very gingery and lemony, almost like a healthy tea drink) and the Springtime Thought Crime (very strong with a hint of cherry). There isn't much seating so it's not great for huge groups but I think there is a patio. It's a pretty casual spot and great for just hanging out. The music is loud but the vibe is fun. The bartenders and servers are always amazing and super attentive. They do not serve their own food, but I think they have a food truck sometimes that you can order from and they'll bring it to you. I could be wrong about that, but the people next to us had tacos brought to them on paper plates, which looked delicious.
