My husband and I stopped into 100 South Chophouse last Saturday for an impromptu date night and were able to snag a last-minute table, which was a great start. It was our first time dining here, and overall we had a positive experience. For dinner, my husband ordered the beef Wellington, and I had the evening special--crab-stuffed salmon. We also shared the fried calamari appetizer and finished with the mud pie for dessert. Both entrées were enjoyable and well prepared, but neither of us had that "wow, we absolutely need to come back for this" moment. That said, the calamari was excellent--very generous in portion size, and I especially loved the breaded vegetables that came with it. The mud pie dessert was just okay for us. Honestly, the Oreo crust was the standout and our favorite part. One thing I always pay attention to is the restroom situation. While I understand building limitations, I would have preferred the restroom to be located inside the restaurant rather than having to walk into the attached building (even though we didn't have to go outside). Not a dealbreaker by any means, just a preference. The ambience was fine overall, but it felt a little lacking and could definitely be jazzed up to better match a chophouse vibe. Service landed somewhere between fair and mid. I would have appreciated more frequent table check-ins, and unfortunately, seeing our server on her phone behind the counter when the kitchen doors opened did reflect in the final tip. All things considered, I'd give 100 South Chophouse 3.5 stars. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back, but I'm also not exactly chomping at the bit to return. read more

The staff was great and the owner was very nice, but I didn't feel like I had a $300 dinner experience. The oysters are NOT blue points, they were large and not very fresh or sweet. My $60 had a LOT of fat and gristle, no sides come with it either. My wife really liked the sea bass (hers came with sides), I paid for asparagus which was good. The drinks were strong which was nice, not sure if it was for Valentine's Day or if that's a regular thing. I wouldn't come back here for a full dinner, but if they implemented a happy hour or 1/2 price oysters during the week we would definitely stop in. Having TVs is nice to watch some games. read more

The service was great, especially handling our large and loud crew. The calamari was super tasty and not rubbery. The baked clams had great flavor. The garlic butter was a little too garlicky for me but others really enjoyed it. The au gratin potatoes were super cheesy and my favorite. The steak was properly seasoned. Went there again with some friends and had the chicken parmesan, if you like chicken parmesan as much as I do don't look any farther then here, it's the best I have ever had. Having the left overs the next day is also so good. I'm sure we will all be back and I hope it's soon read more

Super disappointed. My husband planned an anniversary dinner, made reservations at 7 was told we had to wait 30 minutes. Ok, fine we had a drink at the bar. As we waited my husband ask if we could have a seat by the windows. I dont know where the miscommunication happed but we were seated in the bar area in the back corner under the loud speaker 80% of the tables in the restaurant have tablecloths and white linen this area was just a bar table no tablecloth not even paper the fancy dinner environment we were hoping for, and then to top it off a party of 20 was set next to us so romantic. It was so loud and I have 5 kids..... The food well very underwhelming. The coconut shrimp was burnt and chewy. They did replace it with a fresh one that was good. Lamb shank was overdone and needed Salt I feel like we didn't dress the part to be dinning there and never felt welcomed. Will not dine there again. read more

Stopped in the other weekend with several other couples and our food was excellent. I had the skirt steak and the lemon/garlic sauce was wonderful and permeated both the steak and the potatoes. It was just as good - if not better - reheated in the oven the next day. My husband had the veal parmesan on the bone - and the veal was huge. He thought it was one of the best veal parms he has ever had. The side of spaghetti with it was what he reheated the next day as yet another meal. Atmosphere-wise, it's defnitely a place where you will have to talk very loudly to hear others. It's not the type of place to go for conversation. We had several mishaps with the waitress - some her fault, some ours. It didn't impact our food, but definitely did for the other couples with us. Could have been cooked a little bit longer so if you order it just make sure you ask them.. Came here for a late lunch/early dinner on a Friday. There was plenty of seating available. Perhaps because it was early, but the ambiance was very quiet and felt like almost awkward being there until someone put on some Christmas music. The service was great. Our waiter was timely and attentive. We had the Caesar salad, chili calamari and cavatelli. Everything was perfectly prepared. Our server Alexander was absolutely wonderful! He was attentive, friendly and got our order right! The bad- my pasta was under cooked. The shrimp I had was good but the plate they served it on was watery due to the ice melting. Not sure where it was sitting that the ice melted before it was served. read more

Had another great special last saturday at 100 south. Chicken Cacciatorre and it was outstanding. Whoever makes the sauces is a master chef, always loaded with flavor. This is a very nice restaurant in downtown Elmhurst. When you walk in, you meet with the hostess, to the right of the hostess is a bar and has high tables, to the left is more of a nice casual seating at short standard tables. Our waiter was awesome! Very attentive, always made sure our wine glasses were topped off and was just a very nice waiter. We ordered the Dickie's Salad, which had Mixed greens with bacon, bleu cheese, red onion and a creamy Italian dressing. It was a nice portion. There was three of us and we shared it. There was enough for four people. This salad was delicious! Had a great dressing that elevated the whole salad with trimmings. We then ordered the Portabella Soup. Holy moly I was thinking of committing a robbery and run out with the whole pot of soup. It was soooo good! I love mushrooms and this soup was excellent! Then I ordered the Beef Wellington. I never had a beef Wellington and always wanted to try one after watching Gordon Ramsey and his signature Beef Wellington. So being my first time trying a beef Wellington I was impressed! The filet lignin inside the pastry was beautifully cooked! Medium, tender and absolutely delicious! The pastry was so delicate and so good. I loved it! Overall loved everything here. It's a few years later and I finally tried out this place again. This time it was me and one other guest. You must reserve in the summer, because if you don't you probably won't get a place to sit and eat. We were hoping to eat outside, but it was raining that day (boooo) but maybe next time. My experience was much better than last time (which was over five years ago). Our server was awesome (I really wish I could remember his name, but he was Albanian...if the owners read this, give him much kudos, as he was phenomenal, friendly, attentive, and overall awesome). My guest and I came for dinner before an event. You can go casual or dressed up, but I prefer to go dressed up there because it was that type of place. My guest and I ordered salads and our meals. I prefer the house salad with the house Italian/balsamic dressing. My guest did get the Caesar and I still stand by it not being the best, but that's ok. Of course, I go to an Italian place and I get the Piccata (it was that or my other go-to which is Vesuvio). I didn't feel like steak, but it is a steak house. HOLY PORTIONS BATMAN! The plates full of food could make a total of three meals (I know because that's how many meals it did for me). The chicken was wonderfully cooked and the pasta wasn't too soggy. It really was delicious and I felt that the pasta was homemade, none of that boxed garbage. You can really taste the difference. For dessert, we had the ice cream pie. Also homemade and I could've eaten a full pie, not a slice. I am glad I tried this place out again. It was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed the service. Had a girls night at this restaurant a couple of months ago after seeing a video on TikTok. Very good service and food. The drinks were definitely strong but so good. However, tonight I decided to take my husband out for dinner here and I can't even speak for the food because we sat for at least 15 minutes and never was acknowledged by a server who walked by several times. We did get some delicious bread and water by the busboy but we never were asked what we wanted to drink or if we wanted an appetizer. There were only two other tables outside so not really an excuse for being busy. We finally got up and left after almost 20 minutes. Very disappointed and will probably never go back again. Iv been coming here a a few years. Went today july 2024. When we got our bill I was charged a fee for credit card. I told waitress we were paying cash. She said it was automatic and she couldn't change it. I told her get manager. She said he wasn't in yet. It was 7:15pm. I'm like I am not paying this take it off. She fixed the bill by not charging tax. Because she couldn't make charge not show up. Oh well. Our server Nicholas was professional and took great care of us. Food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The king filet was a top choice of cut. The best "fish fry" that we've experienced thus far in downtown Elmhurst or possibly all of Chicago!!! Why do you ask? The owner / management team (Dominic Ranieri & Nicolette Ranieri) aims to please by offering the true and proper "haddock and chips"! The batter is perfectly proportionate to the size of the fillet and not greasy. Then comes one of the best old fashions we've had. Why? Their amazing bartender, Evey, knows exactly how we prefer them and she never disappoints. Thought I'd treat myself before the RuPaul's Drag Race premiere. Food here was excellent, clam chowder was a bit bland, but the oysters were super cold, tasty and fresh. The dry aged New York strip was perfection, no A1 sauce needed. Service was ok the bartender was a tad bit cold at first because she just started her shift but she warmed up and offered me some bread to take home with my leftovers. I'd say 4/5 stars. If you are looking for a place to have a nice quiet dinner where you can converse this is definitely not the place.
