Me and my wife recently came here since this was a fun little date idea that she wanted to do. We booked a reservation here not knowing what this place truly was we were going to do both the mini golf and stay for food. We booked a 5:30 p.m. reservation on a weekend and we didn't realize that this place had a really really long line when it came to check again. We booked a reservation online and we assume that our reservation automatically started at set time but really it truly doesn't matter what time your reservation is because you could just show up whenever you want it doesn't mean you automatically start playing at the time you reserve. You more so just book everything in advance and just save yourself a few minutes. The waiting is really long as if you're waiting for your favorite ride at an amusement park but the line is an hour long. There's four different courses in each one is nine holes. I will say that the courses were really fun and is a unique spin on how to play mini golf which is way more entertaining than LIV golf. Sadly I lost but I had fun. The price point just to play is truly pretty fair for what it was worth. Right after booking our golf reservations we tried booking our dinner reservations as well but that turned into a big issue which made us call them to try to make us redo our reservation to dine in and when we were done playing the mini golf we had an issue trying to get our seat but it looked like my name was spelled wrong and I caught it when I noticed on her tablet which was corrected. Dining was a pretty good experience just because the server came up immediately after we were seated we couldn't even look at the drink menu but thankfully he was very friendly. They have vegan options for my wife which was the main reason why we dined in. Food was pricey, I did enjoy their non-alcoholic drinks but if I were to come back here, I might just come back on a weekday where is probably a bit more quiet and less hectic. read more

We had a gift card and a visitor from out of the country. This was the perfect reason to pay a visit. Our group had five and two of them were children. We walked in without advance reservations on a Saturday afternoon but we were able to secure a booking within the next 20 minutes for the 9-hole game. We had a fun experience although it can feel a bit rushed when there are others waiting behind you. I think we took approximately 30 minutes to finish the game which is not a whole lot of time. We recently had a second visit on a Sunday morning for a birthday party. This was a more ideal experience for us because there was less people and we played at our own pace. This is particularly beneficial for young children who needs a lot of guidance on how to play. The food was served buffet style. We tried the pepperoni and cheese pizza, fried chicken bites with Thai chili sauce, fried shrimp, chicken quesadilla, chips and artichoke dip, and tater tots. I've been meaning to check this spot out for the longest time since I've heard such good things! You make your time slot reservation online and check-in at the kiosk when you get there. You pick your putter and they give you your ball to play. There's a bar in the main area so you're welcome to purchase your beverage before starting your game. There's multiple courses and they're super fun and different than your usual mini golf course. There's a lot of tech involved so that the ball keeps track of your strokes and your score. This is a good hangout. A little putt putt while doing some gulp gulp, perhaps followed by some chomp chomp while yap yap with your posse or date, or both. Face it, we all need a loud atmosphere with food, fun, and music every now and then. A place to forget about your work week and let loose. If I let loose my pant button pops open...sorry. Don't sleep on their food, they really incorporated some nice plates from around the globe within their sharables. They have great salads and flatbreads too. If there is one pet peeve that my friends get tired of hearing about, it is the people stacking up behind you, waiting for you to finish your hole. This may be unavoidable with mini golf. I just tried Puttshack in Oakbrook for the first time - and it was very fun! The downstairs area when you first walk in is a coat check, and then you take an elevator or the stairs to the actual place.This is an indoor mini golf space, with a bar and restaurant upstairs as well. You can put your groups name on a waitlist on their touch screen computers upstairs, or make a reservation in advance online. There are 9 holes per game that you get to play, the cool part about Puttshack is that the place keeps track of your score for you on screens at every hole through the balls they give you (no old school recording on pencil and paper), which is really convenient if you wanted to keep track of scores with your group. There are also 4 different places inside you can play 9 hole games at, the whole place is really cool to look at the theming of the games and the neon lights are really nice. All of the employees I encountered were pretty friendly and helpful if you had questions on how anything works. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you want to do some mini golf, it's even more fun if you have a group. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect at Puttshack, but I just came in with the expectation that I was going to a mini golf place. But Puttshack is much more than that! I would call it adult mini golf. It was like Topgolf but putting. Unlike traditional mini golf, the golf balls and course keep track of how many strokes you take and give you a certain amount of points based on that. There is no cheating here! There are incentives to get the ball into the green hole because you automatically get a hole in one. Some holes have true and false questions to answer on the screen and others have moving parts. It gives arcade vibes but in a more adult and sophisticated manner. I was truthfully impressed and had an absolute blast. And after you have played some mini golf, you can grab a seat at the bar for drinks or a table for some food. I didn't try any drinks so I can't comment on that, but the food itself was great! I tried the brussel sprouts and the pepperoni buzz flatbread. The brussel sprouts were the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. They were soft but still had a nice bite. The brussel sprouts were also fairly small and easy to eat. Honestly some of the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. The pepperoni buzz flatbread was also perfectly balanced with the salty cheese and pepperoni and sweet honey. I had a great experience at Puttshack! Second time here and this time it was on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty packed which I expected for a few days after Christmas. They have coat check when you walk in. On the second floor is where you do self check-in and then retrieve your balls and clubs. The overall set up is okay. It's a bit confusing especially if it's your first time here. The areas get pretty packed so I do think they should have less reservations arrive at the same time. Nonetheless, the games are fun and exciting and you can sip a drink while playing. I always opt to eat before or after playing, and I've enjoyed the meals I've ordered here. My mom has a few food allergies and the executive chef came to our table to tell her what meals she could safely eat. We were very impressed and grateful for the attention to customer service! We booked with Puttshack multiple days in advance for my husband's birthday. Our reservation was at 5PM. Apparently the website was just letting people book when they had a buy out. So they called and left a voice mail and told us there was a buy out... like we should know what that means. They took 17 call backs to pick up the phone. Once the hostess answered she basically said that the system was letting people book when a company bought the place out so that meant that we were just out of luck and she would be happy to rebook for us. My husband told her we were already 30 minutes into our drive and why are we just being informed of this now if they knew it was an issue. She said that the company booked it so no one could play after 4PM. Mind you they did not call us until 4:30. So they clearly knew it was already an issue earlier in the day than when they called us. The hostess then started to panic and did not know what to say and my husband did not want to give her a hard time. He asked to speak with the manager. He had called on speaker phone to check in the reservation; my husband informed him we were driving and sitting in rush hour traffic on the way to their establishment. He asked multiple times for my husband to check his phone while he was driving for a confirmation number.... My husband informed him multiple times that he was driving and he could not safely look at his phone... he sarcastically thanked them manager for making this his problem too AND THE MANGER, JOSEPH, told him you're welcome in a snarky way. Then he said he could not help us and his manager Michael would be calling us in 5 minutes. That was about 45 minutes ago. We aren't even sure if they are actually going to be refunding our money since they are still actively texting us about directions where to go when we get there. It was of the worst customer service experiences we have ever had and it completely torched our plans for the entire night. We also have 4 kids and rarely have a babysitter and this was extremely difficult to orchestrate for us. It was a real disappointment and we will never return. read more

As a result, our meals came out a little later than expected. I wasn't sure how to feel about this place after reading some poor reviews but decided to give it a try anyways. We made reservations for a Saturday afternoon and had so much fun! There is a coat check on the bottom floor and then the bar, restaurant and golfing are on the second level. You check yourself in at the kiosk and then find your name on the screen to figure out which course you are on. There are two different course on either end with the bar and restaurant in the middle. I don't think you have a say in which course you are assigned to but did the emerald course. Everything is electronic which is super nice since you don't have to manually keep score. The holes are super fun too with each one having its own unique obstacle (bonus points, challenges, trivia, etc.). We got stuck behind a large group with a little kid which was a bit annoying but it also helped slow us down do we didn't finish in 10 minutes. We enjoyed it so much we wanted to play another round but it was sold out the rest of the night. I also tried the Breaking Bad drink which was super fun. The presentation deserves a shoutout - the bartender brought it over in a little treasure chest and it came with a little popsicle too! read more

We know to make a reservation ahead of time for this place - especially on a weekend. So, reservations in hand, we show up about ten minutes early and find out that there is a private party and we will have to return thirty minutes after our original time. Okay, we will go to the bookstore. But then when we get back, there is a mob of people, some walk-in, some with reservations and there is no order to how people are being let in or checked in. Why didn't you send emails to the people who reserved giving them the option to cancel? Why are people literally shoving my ten year old to get ahead in line? If I hadn't pre paid we would have walked. Once we got on the course, things were okay, but you still feel really rushed because of the line behind you. They need to limit the number of reservations/walk ins to make this a better experience. And send an email with what course you will be on to avoid the chaos up front. Once a quarter I like to do a team building outing with my team to thank them for the work that they do. I always allow them to pick the venue since it is all about them and this is what they wanted to do. Full disclosure, I have never played mini golf before so this was my first time. In my mind I always thought of mini golf as an outside venue and most likely, that is why I have never done it. Puttshack is something I could get into. Puttshack is an indoor venue with multiple 9-hole mini golf setups, restaurant and bar. Due to the time restraint for folks to get home, we had an early meal and then our game. I was not sure what to expect as far as the food, but I have to say it was pretty good. We decided to get multiple appetizers and drinks in order to make our time on the floor. Surprisingly, the appetizers were delish and filling. The Mediterranean Lamb Skewers (seven-spiced lamb, cucumber salsa, grilled pita, minted yogurt, peri-peri sauce) were quite tasty. The flavor profile was very nice and the lamb was tasty. The Sweet Heat Shrimp Skewers (Cajun & hot honey glazed grilled shrimp, cornbread, crispy fried kale) were very good, a little on the spicy for me, but very good nonetheless. The cornbread was a winner, more like a cake than a bread as it was so sweet. That sweetness mirrored well against the spiciness of the shrimp. The Sweet & Spicy Brussels Sprouts (oven roasted Brussels sprouts, sweet chili & maple syrup glaze) were just okay for me, but my direct report loved them. The Persian Chicken Skewers (grilled saffron marinated chicken, cabbage slaw, grilled pita, spicy cilantro yogurt) were good. I wished that they had been served with some dill rice, feel like that would be a great meal. The Greek Gyro Sliders (Mediterranean-spiced lamb & beef gyro on mini pitas, pickled red onions, cucumber salsa, lemon aioli) were not really sliders but built like street tacos. Definitely a knife and fork dish, but it was very good. The meat was very good and surprisingly so as we had just been talking about a lot of places are not using good meat anymore. As I mentioned, this outing for was my direct reports and they had a great time. But I surprised myself by also having a good time. This could be a great time out, but I would definitely do it earlier in the day as my one direct report said it can get loud and cray cray, but I was glad we were able to have a decent conversation without having to scream at each other. We had a group date last night out to Puttshack. It was our first time and was really fun. It was like a more high tech version of The Puttery at half the price and that's something I can get with. All of the staff we encountered were super helpful. We were scheduled to do two rounds and happened to be on the same course for the second round. I asked a worker if we could change to a different course and they were very accommodating. We didn't have any food but we did have some drinks. The drinks were really sweet and sugary. Not really my vibe, but probably should've been expected for a venue like this. It was certainly a good. I would definitely recommend. I can't wait for the Skokie location to open. read more

My husband and I came here a couple of years ago shortly after they first opened and the place was insanely busy. We played the Amber course and it was ok. Courses are 9 holes and the Amber course didn't look as "fun" as some of the others. Because it was so busy we weren't able to get in another round. We went back to Putt Shack and it was A LOT less busy so I guess that "shiny new thing" hype has faded a bit. Don't get me wrong, it was still busy but nowhere near how it was a few years ago. So this was our second time coming here. Guess which course we were placed at...Amber. Whomp whomp. The fact that their system still "remembers" us, you would think it could place us at a different course. Side note, to my knowledge I don't believe you get to pick your course and honestly we would t have known what it was called beforehand. We still enjoyed it. We noticed that the prize wheel hole no longer had actual prizes like it originally had. It's now just bonus points. We ate dinner which was still good. I'm gluten free and they have quite a few options so that's always nice. I ordered the top shelf margarita and it was good EXCEPT it came with one of those awful paper straws. Do you enjoy a straw disintegrating in your drink/mouth? Nope, no thank you- literally the worst. Find someone who enjoys that...I'll wait. I stole my husband's blue plastic-like straw. I'm sure it was a plant based one but it didn't disintegrate in my mouth or drink. Also the black salt stained part of my lips black...so while I get the aesthetic of if...ehhhh again no thanks. My friend and I had a bit of trouble finding where to go as it was very crowded. Very cool concept where the ball has a chip inside and tracks every swing and then puts your score on a screen. Kind of like bowling combined with mini golf. Then entire experience is only 9 holes which is relatively short. I wouldn't want to pay any more than $14. Each hole has a fun theme with an opportunity to score extra points. My friend and I had to wait at every hole due to the crowd. Went to Puttshack for a family night out and had a wonderful time! They have four different courses at this location, and we were on the 'Sapphire' course. There were 9 different pars that ranged from 'Truth or Dare' to 'Putt Four' to 'Whac-A-Mole'. Each par provided its own challenge and the differences provided more entertainment than you would find at your traditional mini golf course. All four courses include different games so if you play more than one game, you likely will not be playing the same par! Each ball is connected to your name and automatically tracks your score, which is really cool. We didn't get food, but we got drinks for the bar and for a Sunday night, it was pretty slow. We found ourselves waiting quite a while to get our drinks. Overall, would definitely recommend coming to Puttshack for a fun date night or family night out! read more

We wanted a fun outing with the kids on a cold evening and decided to try Puttshack. We knew we wanted to eat there after we golfed, but the online reservation system didn't really make it clear how long it should plan between the golf and table reservation, so we just went in and were directed to sign up at the kiosk. I had the same question and was told that games take 30-60 minutes and if we finished before our reservation came up, we could tell the hosts since it was a slow Monday night. We made the reservation for the game and were directed to the ruby course. There was a very unhelpful attendant there that just pointed to where we were to start. We had no idea how to get balls, that our balls are not interchangeable, or that we could just grab putters. We figured it out, but some direction would have been nice, especially since I kept asking and just kept getting point towards the first hole. The game itself was fun for all. We had a family of four and everyone enjoyed it. It took less than 30 minutes for us to play all 9 holes. We then were seated for dinner and asked the waitress for suggestions. She raves about the empanadas...they were just okay. I couldn't tell there was chorizo in them. I actually think frozen burritos are a better product than these empanadas. The pulled pork bao were amazing though. Super full of meat, and delicious! Well balanced with the fennel slaw and the bao itself was soft and fluffy. My daughter loved her chicken sandwich, especially the pickles which she says are majestic. Who knew pickles could be so awesome? The flatbread was tiny, but the dough was yummy. I think the giardiniera was too oily, so that made the bread greasy, and the sausage was not great. We also tried the Thai chicken skewers which were just okay. The sauce was too salty and sour, so it was untouched, so basically it was just over fried chicken. The atmosphere is young and loud. Very clean, large space, but the volume of the music made it impossible to hear the person across the table from you without basically healing, which doesn't make for pleasant dinner conversation. Maybe it's a way to block the noise from the golfers? Maybe we're just old? My husband would up getting a headache from it, so that wasn't great, but overall, we had a fun time golfing and really enjoyed the bao and chicken sandwich. read more

The majority of the employees and patrons were Gen Z. The older millennial here (ME) thought the music was loud. lol, but I'm sure my younger sister would have been right at home. I enjoyed the technology of the course. The balls auto keep your score and there are cute graphics on the screens. The food was tasty and I could tell they use high quality ingredients. The flat bread had a great taste but was much smaller than I expected for $16. It was an inch or two longer than my hand. Everything is computerized so points are not traditional, it is more like 'video gaming' in that you will get +50 points if you hit it through a certain tube etc. We were sent to the Amber section, which was fun but really short considering we paid $14 a person. Maybe it's because we don't have to do our own scoring, but it went by really fast (probably were done in 20 min). Most of the holes we finished with just 1 to 3 putts. Probably my favorite one was the Trivia hole, however it's not kid friendly because the questions that we got were 'older' pop culture. It was pretty crowded and loud. My little one didn't like it due to the noise and the crowd. Due to the simplicity of the putting holes, probably better for really young kids or for adults with bar drinks. read more

Came here last night after dinner nearby to celebrate my friend's birthday. When you walk in they check your ID at the door and then you can head upstairs to the check in table. There's is an optional coat check downstairs to hold your stuff. We had reservations for three and checked in around 9:30pm on Friday night with ease. We headed over to the court, signed in, got our balls and putts and proceeded to play. The place was packed and the music was LOUD. The DJ was great, a combination of new and old hip hop/r&b. The courts were busy but the flow was good. We never waited more than 2-3 min to play. It was impossible to get a drink while playing. The one server kept walking around but was always empty handed and never seemed to be taking any orders. We expressed interest in ordering a drink to one of the employees bussing glasses but he said we could only order via the one waiter and he was never sent over. We decided just to finish our game and then grab a table for drinks. We were sat in a booth and waited on right away. My friends had the Hennessy drink and the Mule. The mules are really strong. I had a margarita. I didn't like the speciality margaritas they had so I asked for just a regular one since it was a open bar. It ended up being $19 which is pretty steep. They charged me $17 for patron and $2 to make it a margarita. It was good but I didn't ask for patron so that was a little annoying. We didn't try any of the food. Again, the music is LOUD. We were yelling at each other and kept stopping mid conversation because of the air horns and other sound effects the DJ was playing. When we got in the car we mentioned how our throats hurt from having to yell all night. Others seemed to enjoy it but they also seemed to be well into their drinking for the night. I think this is a fun place. Definitely a lot of people there on a date night but we also saw groups of friends, a dad/daughter duo and just a mixed crowd in general. If I had any tips I would suggest making reservations, getting your drinks before you play, have fun, take a couple selfies in decorated bathroom and enjoy your night. read more

I just went to play mini golf. I didn't try their food or drinks. I went on a Sat night. You have to be 21 after a certain hr. The bar area was noticeably crowded but the entire place was. No big deal. I'm sure people were having holiday parties, parties, and just a regular outing for them. Everyone was helpful and explained everything since this was my first time going. There were some minor tech issues where we had to start over due to the ball not connecting with the server. There are nine holes. For me the time went fast because it was only 2 of us. The space is quite small where the "holes" are so that's my only complaint. Definitely a possibility of you bumping into someone. read more

I recently went to puttshack to celebrate a friend's birthday. We went on a Saturday night. It was packed. At the door they check IDs, you have to be 21 or older to get in. Once upstairs, you can purchase the mini golf. There are four different courses to choose from. We arrived around 10:15p and we were told by the digital reservation that the next available would be at 11:20p. Luckily we were able to start sooner than that. They also have a live DJ. The DJ does a great job at playing all the hits and classics. The mini golf courses were so much fun. The one we had had a pack man theme course, which was super cool. Came for a date. Perfect date spot. Played 9 holes and went by kinda quick. Think we were done in less than an hour. Was fun though! Definitely wanna go back. Immediately we each got a drink at the bar and I believe our bartender's name was Jalene. And she was awesome! So so friendly, funny and prompt. Note though this place does not allow you to bring your own putter. I tried as I wanted to use it as a practice session but their putters and balls have technology in them so that they can keep score for you. Smart. Just thought was worth mentioning. Felt silly having tried to bring my putter and wished I had read a review warning me of it lol. We then stayed and ate at the restaurant after. Food was good. Had the bao buns and curry. I really wish the food was better here, but I think most of it is frozen. I tried to order the quesadillas without meat but they couldn't accommodate because they said that they were all pre cooked. I have never heard of a quesadilla being precooked because they are just so easy to make. The star martini also tasted terrible and tasted more like peach than anything described so not sure if it was made correctly. The worst thing was when it came time to play golf we got stuck behind a huge party of about 8 or 10 people so really just spoiled the entire experience. They need to do more to control crowds because having 10 minute pauses between each hole is the worst and just makes you wanna stop playing and leave. At one point the crowd behind this group got so large it was ridiculous. Also we did arrive at our wait time but still the line to enter the Ruby room was bad. I guess this place could be fun otherwise and make sure not to eat here. read more
