Went last night and had a terrible experience. The parking lot was packed and we had to drive around for 20 mins before we found a spot. The registration kiosk did not work...not that reservations apparently mean anything because we had to wait 30 mins before we could get on our first course. Then we waited on every hole. The tables on the course were littered with empty glasses. Some of the holes on the Emerald & Ruby courses are exact duplicates. The bar was out of Stella. We decided to cancel our dinner reservation and eat elsewhere. Very expensive for what it is. Will not be going back... read more

If half stars were available I'd give Puttshack 3.5 stars but since they aren't def rounding up vs down. The location is clean and spacious. The overall demographic very young. The majority of the employees and patrons were Gen Z. The older millennial here (ME) thought the music was loud. lol, but I'm sure my younger sister would have been right at home. I enjoyed the technology of the course. The balls auto keep your score and there are cute graphics on the screens. The food was tasty and I could tell they use high quality ingredients. The flat bread had a great taste but was much smaller than I expected for $16. It was an inch or two longer than my hand. Not sure if I'd be back just due to the younger crowd but I'd suggest it for anyone to try out atleast once. read more

Came here last night after dinner nearby to celebrate my friend's birthday. When you walk in they check your ID at the door and then you can head upstairs to the check in table. There's is an optional coat check downstairs to hold your stuff. We had reservations for three and checked in around 9:30pm on Friday night with ease. We headed over to the court, signed in, got our balls and putts and proceeded to play. The place was packed and the music was LOUD. The DJ was great, a combination of new and old hip hop/r&b. The courts were busy but the flow was good. We never waited more than 2-3 min to play. It was impossible to get a drink while playing. The one server kept walking around but was always empty handed and never seemed to be taking any orders. We expressed interest in ordering a drink to one of the employees bussing glasses but he said we could only order via the one waiter and he was never sent over. We decided just to finish our game and then grab a table for drinks. We were sat in a booth and waited on right away. My friends had the Hennessy drink and the Mule. The mules are really strong. I had a margarita. I didn't like the speciality margaritas they had so I asked for just a regular one since it was a open bar. It ended up being $19 which is pretty steep. They charged me $17 for patron and $2 to make it a margarita. It was good but I didn't ask for patron so that was a little annoying. We didn't try any of the food. Again, the music is LOUD. We were yelling at each other and kept stopping mid conversation because of the air horns and other sound effects the DJ was playing. When we got in the car we mentioned how our throats hurt from having to yell all night. Others seemed to enjoy it but they also seemed to be well into their drinking for the night. I think this is a fun place. Definitely a lot of people there on a date night but we also saw groups of friends, a dad/daughter duo and just a mixed crowd in general. If I had any tips I would suggest making reservations, getting your drinks before you play, have fun, take a couple selfies in decorated bathroom and enjoy your night. read more

I recently went to puttshack to celebrate a friend's birthday. We went on a Saturday night. It was packed. At the door they check IDs, you have to be 21 or older to get in. Once upstairs, you can purchase the mini golf. There are four different courses to choose from. We arrived around 10:15p and we were told by the digital reservation that the next available would be at 11:20p. Luckily we were able to start sooner than that. They also have a live DJ. The DJ does a great job at playing all the hits and classics. The mini golf courses were so much fun. The one we had had a pack man theme course, which was super cool. Went here specifically for a mini golf experience only. Parking was relatively easy for a Saturday afternoon, it looks like the Oakbrook outdoor mall shopping is picking up a bit. Going in there's a coat check (we skipped it). Then up the stairs is where the restaurants and the four 9-hole putting areas are located. Registering was easy and you have the option to join to get points. Everything is computerized so points are not traditional, it is more like 'video gaming' in that you will get +50 points if you hit it through a certain tube etc. We were sent to the Amber section, which was fun but really short considering we paid $14 a person. Maybe it's because we don't have to do our own scoring, but it went by really fast (probably were done in 20 min). Most of the holes we finished with just 1 to 3 putts. Probably my favorite one was the Trivia hole, however it's not kid friendly because the questions that we got were 'older' pop culture. It was pretty crowded and loud. My little one didn't like it due to the noise and the crowd. Due to the simplicity of the putting holes, probably better for really young kids or for adults with bar drinks. read more

Came for a date. Perfect date spot. Played 9 holes and went by kinda quick. Think we were done in less than an hour. Was fun though! Definitely wanna go back. Immediately we each got a drink at the bar and I believe our bartender's name was Jalene. And she was awesome! So so friendly, funny and prompt. Note though this place does not allow you to bring your own putter. I tried as I wanted to use it as a practice session but their putters and balls have technology in them so that they can keep score for you. Smart. Just thought was worth mentioning. Felt silly having tried to bring my putter and wished I had read a review warning me of it lol. We then stayed and ate at the restaurant after. Food was good. Had the bao buns and curry. I just went to play mini golf. I didn't try their food or drinks. I went on a Sat night. You have to be 21 after a certain hr. The bar area was noticeably crowded but the entire place was. No big deal. I'm sure people were having holiday parties, parties, and just a regular outing for them. Everyone was helpful and explained everything since this was my first time going. There were some minor tech issues where we had to start over due to the ball not connecting with the server. There are nine holes. For me the time went fast because it was only 2 of us. The space is quite small where the "holes" are so that's my only complaint. Definitely a possibility of you bumping into someone. read more

I booked the game and paid online. They ask if you have a reservation and I answered yes. Checked in our coats. It is free and dont have to carry your coat around everywhere. It is warm enough upstairs. There were no attendant there to guide you of what to do or where to go when you went upstairs. No attendant by the kiosks. There is a check in desk, but I saw it was mostly for the restaurant. So we eventually had to figure things out ourselves. We had a few friends that couldn't make it, so we knew there is no refunds and tried to apply their games onto another game and they couldn't. The lady told me vague instructions of how to remove them from our game and I couldn't figure out. (Note, 1st time for us). Luckily she was near the kiosk where we get our golfballs and she finally helped us remove them. The mini 9 course was new to us, so it was fun and everything is done electronically. So no need to have pencil and paper marking how many shots it took to get it in the hole. But follow the screen. There are 4 courses, but they all looked the same to us. So don't think we plan to come back for the game. However, the food we had were delicious. We ordered the chorizo and cheese empanadas, which was very flaky like it was handmade and not frozen. Inside was juicy and seasoned very well and went well with the chimichurri sauce. Mediterranean lamb skewers are a bit dry. You need to eat it with the pita, cucumbers and tomatoes, and the minted yogurt to really get the flavorful bite. Wish it was already in mini pita bites, since it was messy to put it together. Last we had the Korean BBQ pork buns. The buns are super soft and the BBQ pork is shredded inside vs the thick cut pork belly. Still it was delicious. Overall, I would come back for the food. I really wish the food was better here, but I think most of it is frozen. I tried to order the quesadillas without meat but they couldn't accommodate because they said that they were all pre cooked. I have never heard of a quesadilla being precooked because they are just so easy to make. The star martini also tasted terrible and tasted more like peach than anything described so not sure if it was made correctly. The worst thing was when it came time to play golf we got stuck behind a huge party of about 8 or 10 people so really just spoiled the entire experience. They need to do more to control crowds because having 10 minute pauses between each hole is the worst and just makes you wanna stop playing and leave. At one point the crowd behind this group got so large it was ridiculous. Also we did arrive at our wait time but still the line to enter the Ruby room was bad. My kids want to move to Oakbrook based on this mall alone. We were seeing Elf (so good!) at the nearby Drury Lane Theatre so booked a round of putt putt and dinner here beforehand. It's pricey by putt putt standards, but the course is super cool...and one round takes no longer than 30 minutes. It's also impossible to cheat thanks to the electronic scoring, although my cheating 6 year old wasn't very happy about this. We did a round of 9 holes, which was the perfect amount IMO and then were ready for an early 5pm dinner. We booked both ahead of time, which I recommend since it was super busy here on an early Sunday evening. Everyone was very happy with their food. My kids shared a ceasar salad and cheeseburger sliders. I stole a few of their fries, which were seasoned to perfection. My husband and I both enjoyed the pad thai chopped salad. I had asked for grilled chicken on mine, which they forgot to add, but regardless pretty good. A fun activity and yummy food= the perfect family dinner, although I think it would be fun for a date night too. I hope they open another location near us at some point because think this would do really well in the North Shore! read more

Went to the puttshack location to play some mini golf. While there we also decided to have some drinks with our game. The drinks were delicious that we ordered them twice. Check in for the game was extremely fast, and it was great that we pre-checked in online, so it saved us time at the location. There are four different areas that one can be assigned two for mini golf. All the locations are fun with different types of obstacles that you have to conquer in order to get a hole in one. It also was great that they had music playing. So when you are waiting in line in case you have another team in front of you, there's something to listen to. read more

Mixed but mostly favorable opinions from a small family with a 13 year old. Overall we had a good time, and it was a fun excursion with a pretty decent restaurant/dining experience. Not cheap, but there are specials throughout the week. We were there on a Saturday night and it was incredibly busy, so we had to wait for 3-4 parties before each hole. It felt like the reservations may have been overbooked. The holes themselves were all unique, cute, and in decent shape. The balls have a device inside linked to each player so you don't have to keep your own score, which is great and saves time. Heads up: at the beginning of each hole there's a block (?) that I think contains the tracking mechanism for the balls, and it kind of blocks your ability to putt properly. Once you get used to it, it's okay, but it takes a few holes. It was nice that there were severs taking and delivering drink orders in the golf area; However the night we were there, no one appeared to be bussing those areas, so there were lots of empty glasses on every surface. I don't remember what we ate afterward but I do remember there were a lot of options that we all wanted to try and that the food was solid. read more

This was such a cool place. At first I was a bit confused, I wasn't sure if they only had mini golf or if they had other games but they do only have mini golf && it's actually a lot of fun. Very different way to play mini golf We also tried a few of their appetizers and they were pretty good. All the food was hot and fresh and the bartenders did a good job with our drinks too. The only thing I would say is that they need way more garbage cans around lol... the only one I used all night was by the hostess so I found myself walking all the way over there every time I wanted to throw something away. The whole family had a great time golfing and they have 4 different courses they spread people out across so it never felt too crowded. A course is only 9 holes so the cost can add up if you are looking to do 18 or more holes and are bringing a group. We only did 2 courses and they each took around 30 minutes. It helped the cost going on a week day. One negative is it was pretty annoying that people just skip around to different holes and it definitely slowed things down for us as well. Had a friend who said the same thing happened on their visit here. The food was good. I wanted the lamb skewers and they were out of them so I ended up with the Chicago tailpipes which I definitely recommend, great flavor! We also had the hummus which was really good on both taste and portion. The tenders were better than average and my oldest loved the the Nutella s'more flatbread. The poutine was also a fan favorite. As for beer, the draft menu was ok, hoping they will eventually add more but there we're enough options to get the job done. Our server had no idea what beer was on tap and didn't seemed to bothered not knowing which was a little surprising. Very decent pour on the wine however so that was a plus. I do agree with some of the reviews about both the entrance and the coat check. It's just a mess when you first walk in but they are new so give them some time and hopefully they'll find a more efficient system. Definitely worth the visit!! read more

This place is so much fun. Indoor miniature golf!! Great idea for the cold fall and winter months. Fun for adults and kids. I loved the creativity of the various courses. I love that there are only 9 holes ( instead of 18). I was a part of a birthday party group. During dinner, our server Wendy was amazing. She was friendly and attentive to our party's needs. Fun place for a group outing, the mini golf games are fun and interactive, but it does move quickly. 9 holes, $12 pp, avg 30 min per game. Food was pretty good, with decent options for flatbread pizzas, burgers, and some vegetarian options (I got the hummus platter and we had a cauliflower app at the table). It was fairly busy on Sat evening, giving 3 stars as when we arrived it was a bit disorganized. We waited about 40 min for a server to come to our table. We asked people a few times and for some reason, a server couldn't be located. Not sure what was going on. The DJ that evening was really good! I think his music probably made the night 10x time better (he plays house music - so maybe I'm biased :) ). My husband and I went for a round of mini golf and a meal. We played the Amber course, which was fun. But, it was crowded and there were several times we had 2-3 groups (including us) waiting at a hole. Even with the wait times, we still played one full course in just under 30 minutes. After mini golf, we got food and drinks at the in-house restaurant. The food was decent but not spectacular. Nothing wow'd us. Plus, I really wanted to try the jackfruit bao buns but they were out of jackfruit (I don't eat meat so the meat option wasn't for me). Our server alluded to not having jackfruit as not being a new/today issue. For a drink, I ordered the Hugo Spritz, but it didn't taste like St Germain, sparkling rose, or lime - all ingredients of their signature cocktail. Instead, it tasted like mezcal and soda water. I drank two sips and told the waiter it wasn't the right drink or at least didn't taste anything like the menu description. He apologized and took it away and I ordered something else - glass of the sparkling rose. At the end, they don't give you a paper check, and restaurant checkout is done on a toast tab handheld device, so I didn't see the itemized bill upfront, But after signing off, I selected to have the receipt emailed to me. On the way home, I looked at it and saw that I was charged for the drink that was returned. Typically, when a drink or meal is so wrongly made, the restaurant will take it off the bill, especially if not really drank or eaten. Not here though. I was planning on holding our company's holiday party here and that's why we visited - to test out the place. Not now though, we'll go somewhere else. Overall, the concept is fun (that's the two stars) but the execution needs A LOT of work. We likely won't return. read more

I loved the idea of in indoor mini golf experience with a sports bar vibe, however, the execution here falls pretty short of expectations. There are four different putting courses and you will be randomly assigned to one of them each round you play and the lines get very long. My RFID chip in my ball stopped responding on the third hole, so I had to go back to the front and get an employee to assist which was frustrating since people behind me were also waiting. The holes are very simplistic, with obstacles that don't have much movement or create any significant challenge for adults, whether they play golf or not. Decided to come with a couple of friends on a Saturday afternoon. It was crazy busy, but we still had a good time. We didn't have prior reservations, so our initial game was scheduled about an hour and a half from when we arrived. It wasn't an issue since we weren't in a hurry. However, our second game was scheduled 3 hours after our first!! We played through our first round and spoke with a couple of employees about needing a refund for the second game since we did not want to kill that much time. Maybe because there were only three of us, they moved up our second game right away. The drinks were delicious, even though they were over priced. The bar staff was friendly and even though they were slammed, got to us in fairly good time. There were some fun spots to take pictures and the courses were a good time! The RFID balls are cool and really make playing more fun! Is it an old fashioned putt-putt? No. Is it a good place to drink and play? Absolutely. read more

Food - I haven't had anything bad there. The quality of the food is better than some stand alone restaurants. It is fresh, flavorful, and fun (Chicago Italian Beef egg rolls). Service - I know great service starts from the top down, so when managers actually went out of their way to accommodate my request, I instantly knew I would be a loyal and frequent customer. I had not played a particular course and asked if I could. They normally only have one side (two courses), open during the day. The course I had not played was in the closed side, but the manager took care of me. Ambiance - The place is lively, trendy, and hip. I will say it can get a little full and I, like most people, want to enjoy playing without feeling rushed. I can here for a birthday outing and I'd say it was an overall good time with my family. It was my parents, my brother, sister in law, niece, nephew, and I. I want to mention that the screen you play on pretty much holds 6 and then a new screen appears for the following players - making it kind of hard to keep up with those 2nd scores. Anyway, it was super busy! We went on a Sunday which I'd like to add was super rainy, but Oakbrook Center is always busy so not too surprising. When I say they were booked for the day - I mean it. People behind us and in front of us. If you have a big group this could get awkward if the group behind you is small and finishes quick. Just an fyi. Now the machines themselves are super high tech and I appreciate that cause no need to calculate scores ourselves. There were a couple glitches where I had to go get the worker there, but they fixed it right away. There are 9 total holes and overall and pretty entertaining game! We did stay for the food which I would have to say is like your average arcade place type of meal. I ordered a burger and it was somewhat still bleeding which I didn't enjoy. As others have said, the online reservation is a straight scam. It implies that you have to make a reservation to play a game. Unfortunately, this implication means that anyone walking in without an online reservation means they can "create a reservation" when they get there. How disappointing to want to celebrate my birthday here and prepay for our games. We waited thirty minutes (the duration of our first game) in a line that never seemed to get any shorter, with no guidance whatsoever if we were even on the queue to play. We were able to "cancel" our reservation, but we couldn't even get a refund on the spot. We had to write down our information on some random piece of paper and now we are waiting around to see if our refund request will be honored. The hosts clearly knew nothing about the process of how the games work. They were only there for dining-in folks. read more

We had such a great time here! We came for a work event and it had everyone interacting and involved with each other. It was a great break the ice frequently competition. We played twice and it was then that I realized there were four total courses however 2 courses are repeated. So each side has the same two courses as the other side. I wish they had four different courses so you could potentially play four times without having played the same course twice. It was great though. It's a great conversation starter. We had all different ages in our group ranging from 30-60 and everyone had an amazing time. We also had dinner here.
