Bayou Pasta
Ry C.

Staff were friendly. The ladies that seated us seemed to really care. Our waiter seemed to kept implying that we should order more, which was a little awkward but he was nice too. The Bayou Pasta was pretty good. It was more liquid than a thick cream which I kinda liked. My partner doesn't typically like sauces but he thought the filet mignon béarnaise sauce was good. Place was nice and dark, we got booth seats.

"Not your ordinary Mac n cheese"

They served me old Mac n cheese on a $68 carry out order. I use Resy with my AmEx to find good restaurants, I'll definitely give feedback about this restaurant. The bag had no cutlery or napkins. Like they just threw it together. Second try at this restaurant. First time the steak was like shoe leather. So, I decided I actually wanted to have my Mac n cheese so I called the restaurant to ask for a fresh order. The manager is truly the problem. He was very arrogant and made me feel like it was impossible for them to have made an error. When I returned the order the young hostess looked at it and acknowledged it should not have been served like that. The manager never offered a professional response or even a polite response, he just looked bothered. I'll go to Chappy's next time.

Doppelgänger

I'm a fan of J Alexander's so I decided to stop in Monday night for a night cap. I had the Kentucky Old Fashioned and the Doppelgänger. The Old Fashioned was my favorite. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the cocktail menu. I was here at the end of the evening, so the bar area was not very crowded. Maybe 6 people total. I did not have any food, although their menu was quite tempting.

Tried this on a recommendation. I had the emerald shrimp with a side Cesar. The cesar was simple and pretty good, the only feedback for the cesar was that is was overdressed a little bit. The emerald shrimp had a nice light fry and good flavor. The others in my party had the jumbo shrimp and cajun trout. They both like their meals. I had an old fashioned and it was made very well. Not too sweet with a kick. Our server was J and and she did a great job all night. Nice quiet atmosphere and lighting dimmed to the right hue.

Went to J. Alexander's for my boyfriend's early birthday dinner. Our waitress did not make our experience better. My boyfriend ordered the rattlesnake pasta and was pleased with portions. We noticed the chicken was sliced very small and was hard to find. I ordered the salmon and macaroni & cheese. The macaroni and cheese was sweeter than I've had here. The salmon was grilled perfectly and was definitely the favorite part of the meal. Lastly, my boyfriend was given a piece of cake for his bday. The waitress did not ask what type of cake we wanted. We had to get her attention after walking away to tell her what type of cake we wanted. The cake was oily and was dense. The carrot cake was one of favorites, but not anymore.

We came to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday because she's a big fan of prime rib. J. Alexander's has a wonderful prime rib and a beautiful atmosphere. It is perfect for celebration. Our service was admittedly very slow and we had trouble figuring out who our server was for the first half of our meal. However, once we ordered, the food was delicious big shout out to those shoestring french fries. *chef kiss* I also want to highlight the martinis. They are $14 (outside of happy hour) but they are served with enough for 1 1/2 martinis. I enjoyed the pear martini on this visit. I would return for happy hour!

We hadn't been to J Alexander's in years and are so glad we returned! We came mid-afternoon, so were seated in the bar right away. The restaurant looked the pretty much the same but perhaps refreshed from the last time we were there. Our server was very cheerful and attentive. My husband and I wanted to share a salad to start, so they divided that in the kitchen for us so we didn't have to try to do that at the table. The salad was very fresh and the blue cheese dressing was amazing! We both ordered the prime rib and smashed potatoes for dinner, and what a good call that was! We ordered the smaller cute of prime rib but it was a very generous serving. Both the prime rib and mashed potatoes were delicious. We will make sure not to wait so long to return this time around!

Not sure why this has low reviews. Great food. Extremely friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Perfect place for a night out. Calamari was great!

A plate of perfection, beautiful med rare prime rib, amazing smashed red potato's and a nice size au jus for dipping
Dan S.

We were coming home from a festival and decided we were hungry. I have not been here since before Covid but the thought of nice piece of prime rib sounded perfect. I was not disappointed; the service was on point as expected. We split the Alex salad; they were nice enough to plate it for us in the kitchen. The prime rib was cooked a perfect medium rare and the horseradish dip was tasty with a little kick. I really liked the tea cup of au jus, it was the perfect size to dip into. We skipped desert but I think I need to go back soon and grab that carrot cake. Overall, tasty food with excellent service. We plan to come back soon!

This was HALF a salad! Delicious!

J. Alexander's is dependably good. We sat at the bar, which is our go to, because we are social creatures at heart. It was freezing, all the women were crunched over shivering. Our Caesar salad was perfectly dressed, many restaurants over dress salads. Our bartender Corey was adorable, professional and very friendly! My steak was very good, but my loaded potato was room temperature. The women's bathroom was dirty and the only handicap accessible bathroom was out of service. I wouldn't normally take pictures in a bathroom, but I was alone and it was upsetting.

Enjoyed a great Prime Rib meal on J. Alexander's patio. The food, wine and service were incredible.

Monster Pizza My…read moredear wife reminds me that we have not had pizza since before Thanksgiving. Never ever purchase frozen cardboard pizza, and given years of exploring area pizzas, we have a Top Three pizza favorites. The downtown Bellbrook pizza does not open until 4:00PM, and the nearby Chicago style pizza place is relocating to Clyo Road. Monster Pizza has merited our business for years. We received 14" of snow on Sunday, and driveway is cleared on Tuesday. I love winter, snow, and cold, but not ice. Roads are clear on Wednesday. January 25, 2026 offered the delights and challenges of early winter snow and ice storms. Mother Nature is Impressive; loved the fourteen inches of powder snow in January. Ron's Viking and Norman blood welcomed the enchantments of a northern winter. January 25, 2026 witnessed a national and South West Ohio major snow event of 14" and zero temperatures for a week or longer. This Grand Nature event reminded Ron of epic Ski Resort visits in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Whistler, Snowshoe,.... Given the thrill of skiing, the low temperature and deep snow are welcome. From age 12, I regularly installed sawdust tires on family cars; I was a huge fan of studded tires, and now insist on AWD. The short drive to Doubleday's was uneventful, and there were few drivers on the road. Doubleday's offers an excellent pizza, and my wife prefers the Voodoo Veggie with tomato sauce and regular crust. She is not disappointed with this pizza. The parking at Doubleday's is snow cleared, and the young lady delivering the pizza to the car is enthusiastic and excellent - she merits an additional tip.

We placed an order for four people that included a fish sandwich, malibu melt, buffalo chicken quesadilla and the boss italian flatbread. They usually bring take out orders to your car, but did not have that available the day we ordered so we were told to pick up the food at the bar. The only problem was, they didn't have the bar staffed and we ended up standing awkwardly at the corner of the bar waiting for someone to acknowledge us, which took far too long and most other employees would make eye contact and then look away as if it wasn't there job to assist us. Strike 1. After about 5 minutes somebody came out of the kitchen asking if we had a take out order, then she heads back to grab it and we went on our way. However, when we got home and unpackaged the food, we were missing an entire entree (the italian flatbread). Strike 2. I called to inform them of the problem and that I would be back shortly to pick it up. When I arrived, it was about another 5 minutes of waiting at the bar before being acknowledged. This was becoming infuriating. Eventually, I got the flatbread and headed back home to my family who had already eaten their food. The most frustrating part of this ordeal was that I never received even a simple "Sorry about that" from anyone at Doubleday's. Strike 3. Since Doubleday's branding is rooted in baseball themes, I'm sure they'll understand that my experience was literally three strikes, and now they're out -- I won't be returning.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall area off of Stroop road. It's near the Vapor Haus vape shop and the Speedway gas station that sits at the corner of Stroop and Marshall Rd. If you pass that Speedway, you've gone too far. Inside, the restaurant has a typical sports bar vibe. It's well lit, clean but nothing spectacular. The menu does offer a variety of choices. Service is really good. We were seated fast and orders were taken shortly afterwards. I got the fish and chips. The deep fried fish was good but average in my opinion. The fries were tasty. It satisfied my hunger but it was just average to me. My girlfriend got the chili bowl with jalapeño cornbread. She liked it but again felt it was average fare. The portions are pretty big but bigger doesn't necessarily mean it's better. I will probably try again but I think the burgers are a better option than the fish and chips. There was a decent sized crowd here, so TJ Chumps is doing something right. I'd like to try some of their other menu choices. I recommend. The service is good and the wait crew enthusiastic.

I love this place…read more We're meeting up with the grandparents and me and the two Littles were sitting at the table, holding the table and one of the hostesses just walked up with a thing of fries and said would you guys like some fries. I didn't order them and it was good for the kiddos. That is caring how kids feel, that is Superior service. I love the atmosphere. It's very pro veteran and pro-American and it feels like a place where they love the things I love. They have excellent barbecue brisket barbecue pork. I love their sides. The corn is good. My sweetie says she is enjoying the biscuit and the green beans are like melting your mouth. She says she is really enjoying those. She's sampling the sauces as she works away through it. She likes the South Carolina one best so far cause she's a fan of the mustard. They have good options for the kiddos with mac & cheese or other kiddos centric sandwiches. They have small slider sandwiches for the kiddos. My oldest says this: the mac & cheese is not box mix. It is made in house. The pulled pork sandwich is very tasty. I'd like the smoky flavor. The waitress also brought out some Cajun corn samples, I'm not a very spice loving person. Corn was good, but I didn't finish it. All in all the food was tasty. My second oldest says: I got mac & cheese and it's really good. It is not box mix actually it's made of real cheese and I also got the turkey sandwich which is really tasty. It's not overcooked and it's not undercooked. It's like perfect and there's none of those disgusting micro plastic filled cheese in it, which is really nice. My mom gave me a bit of her cornbread and it's really sweet and also a bit savory too, which is like the perfect combination and it's it's pretty good. Grandma says the food is very good. She likes the seasonings on it. She got collard greens with it and says they are excellent. Personally, I'm pretty jealous because although I enjoyed the Cajun corn, I didn't know they had collard greens.

The burger was slightly under seasoned, but it was thick and juicy, and overall pretty good. The mac wasn't bad, it just didn't quite taste the same, but the salad was crisp and fresh.
