This is very easily the best udon chicken noodle soup I have ever had. Steamed dumplings are terrific too! This is one place that os less salty and full of flavor. One plce that I can gonin often and not feel guilty post meal. No buyer's remorse! Love it!!! read more

Crazy experience. I want to live in this restaurant. We went a little crazy on their vast sake menu. To top it off had a crazy good unagi steak. Price wise its a little expensive but its worth every dime! Would recommend and will return. read more

Tried the dumplings because they were so highly recommended but I found them to be "nothing special.". The shitake fried rice, however was quite good as were the chicken lettuce wraps. Service was excellent and I liked the ambiance. It's across the street from the Inn @ 5th...so the Xmas lights were blazing merrily. read more

It is amazing that there are so many terrific restaurants in Eugene. Last night we found Izakaya Oyarzun. We had a wonderful evening filled with a fine variety of sake, five star sushi and the best kimchi soup I have ever enjoyed. The atmosphere is relaxing, comfortable and fun. The staff, chef and owner are super friendly as are the other diners. No one rushes you. We stayed for several hours. There are two floors. Both very nice. After a great night we were pleasantly surprised how reasonable the check was. We really like this place. read more

We really liked this for a date night. Super fun trying sakes and food was good-we had dumplings and skewered things. It was quiet and comfortable. It didn't blow my mind, but it was nicely done, tasty and different. Service was sllloooooww. So don't go if you are in a rush. Be patient and enjoy your company. read more

I don't know what people are reviewing. The place isn't even open yet. Drove here to find a sign that said coming soon...

I've eaten here twice in the last couple of months and both times were pleasant. The location is a cool, quirky building that has a variety of mood lighting, from dimly lit closet spaces to full on red lights. You can request a private table that is sectioned off from the rest of the restaurant in grotto-like nooks that I found unique. The only problem is that sometimes your waiter will forget you are there! The service was not ideal, it was exceptionally slow, but the drinks, the food, the atmosphere and the price point were all worth going again. They have a great ginger cocktail! read more

What a find! Nestled in Duck Country in Eugene Oregon this wonderful little Japanese place. We were looking for a place to sit outside as we were on our way back from a camping trip with our Frenchies and needed something different than camping fare. We both wanted sushi so yelp suggested here, I called and they had 2 outdoor tables and were dog friendly so we arrived and sat down. Promptly a waiter came out and welcomed us and quickly brought the menu. It wasn't what we expected thinking more along the lines of rolls and nigiri but we soon found some wonderful things to order! We started with the chicken heart skewers perfectly seasoned on field greens and lucious dipping sauce and not to be missed the bacon wrapped asparagus served with creamy white sauce and black sesame seeds. Delicious! Each skewer had 2 bundles of wrapped goodness for $6. Dave ordered the Dragon roll with forbidden rice (note the pink rice) and I ordered the shozu ramen. Perfectly seasoned with seaweed and plenty of bamboo shoots, green beans, and noodles! The best part was the tempura onions that came on the side in their own bowl! Saves sushi was fresh with excellent flavors and pretty presentation. The neighborhood was pretty quiet and we really enjoyed the food and ambience of a late summer evening here! read more

Excellent food! I had the tuna poke and my friend had the skewers and grilled avocado! All were delightful we got the mochi as well and it was swell! read more

Nice place, as long as you are not expecting Japanese food. Seriously they have good Hawaiian food but the Japanese food is often heavily modified (as it is in Hawaii) or missing. The karaage section of the menu was missing karaage, the robata yaki had teriyaki and "spicy" but no teppanyaki. The musibi was far from Japanese size, infact it was bigger than any I ever saw in Hawaii as well as sweeter. Unfortunately, because they labeled themselves as an izakaya, I was expecting Japanese and not a sweeter version of Hawaiian food and I ended up very disappointed. read more

Waiter are extremely friendly and nice. Menu is a little bit confusing but we can understand it. If later they can add photos will be wonderful! We tried so many things, all of them are extremely delicious, but the price is a little bit expensive compare to other Japanese restaurant! Just note it, it doesn't have sushi and noodles, just grilled and appetizers. Maybe due to soft opening, hope they will have more dishes in the future read more

I love the atmosphere of this place. Imagine a cool bar meets japanese food vibe. Love it! Came by on a weekday night and was seated by the balcony area that overlooked the chandelier. Such a cute date night spot. Ordered a variety of skewer items and was not disappointed. The tasty dippings on the side are a must! Ordered from katsu, squid, chicken, and pork belly skewers. The pork belly was the real winner here. So tender and juicy. Also, ordered an unagi and rice dish which was good too but I would mainly come back to try out more skewer items (especially gizzard and chicken heart)! read more

Delicious food but a little pricey. Bone broth dumpling soup was very tasty, hot, and fresh.

Absolutely love. Wonderful owners, amazing food! Recommend the shishito peppers, spam musubi and the spider maki, yum!

This is a really decent Japanese cuisine restaurant in Eugene. I really like its the dish of BBQ chicken with onion. It's one of my fav in Izakaya! The chicken is really juicy and tasty and eat with it's roasted onion... it's a perfect match! However the spicy tuna rice ball is as good as I expected... The rice is too hard to chew and the spicy tuna it's too spicy that you can hardly taste it's real taste... so overall I would give 4 out of 5, since I've been visiting this restaurant several times and the tuna rice ball is the only thing that I dislike so far（: read more

Spicy chicken lettuce wraps are life. The spicy tuna is amazing as well. If we lived closer, I would be here weekly

The host forgot to call us when our seats were ready so we ended up waiting double the time that was said. We were told they were very busy but the restaurant was barely half full. The food was okay for the price but servings were small. I wouldn't go back with the other options in the area. read more

Delicious! Grilled avacado? Yes, please! I can't tell if this place is quirky and original or super authentic, but whichever it is, it works, and I've never been anywhere else like it. I had three dishes on my solo dinner, and all were outstanding. The sautéed spinach was served cold and had just the right amount of garlic and was cooked perfectly. The aforementioned grilled avocado was not what I was expecting, but was wonderful to the point where I may attempt the concept at home. The square sushi was maybe a bit heavy on the rice, but good overall. I started off with a ginger cocktail (can't remember the name) that was also great. This place is definitely worth a visit, and is conveniently across the street from a great hotel as well. Make a weekend of it in Eugene! read more

Good light dishes, good selections of sake and soju. Very nice people. Enjoyed the friendly atmosphere very much. read more

Dinner with my family tonight. Small plates were superb. It was very busy but the server was attentive, knowledgeable and very upbeat. She said she was new but I never would have guessed that. She made several recommendations that were spot on. She's a keeper! Don't miss out on this authentic Japanese cuisine. I will definitely be back for more miso ramen! read more

Sub-par and over priced. Sushi was low grade and ran right through my system. Would not recommend

I love the hot pot noodles!! Amazing! A tad wit time for the food, but that's because it's fresh! I love the sushi too!

Amazing food, drink and service! Love the downtown Japanese vibe and will definitely be eating there again in the near future

Wow! Just went here for the first time and it was amazing! They boast organic veggies and have a lot of gluten free options. Every skewer came with a bed of delicious dressed salad under it. First we had the Wakame salad and it was delicious. Then we had shiitake and shishito pepper skewers, they were great and like ave already said the dressed salad under was yummy also! Then we had the assorted sashimi plate (see photo) the fish was great so tender and smooth. Perfect temperature and served in handmade bowl on a screen over ice. We finished our meal with the curry udon soup. The noodles had a great texture and the flavor was on point! All of this was $48. It was a lot of great flavors and we will definitely be back here to try more of the extensive and adventurous looking menu. Our server was very attentive and friendly. If you live in Eugene you should try this place, I think you'll be pleased. read more

First time here with my lady!, It was EPIC. Grilled avocados, fried garlic on skewer and yellow tail carpaccio, just for starters, awesome! ... not to mention the Ramen was top notch!! But most of all, the server was on point! Ki Hon was prompted, energetic, positive and gave us space when appropriate. First time I tipped 35% in a while ... ;) mad love read more

I'm going to give 3 stars due to service issues and lack of management response. I went with mt husband and some friends for dinner a week ago. I'm vegan and the rest of the group eats everything. I was glad to see they labeled vegan options and they were good. I highly recommend the rice cakes. Everyone liked their food, overall. My husband ordered ramen, which came in a huge bowl. As the waitress was serving us she spilled the ramen full of meat. It spilled on my husband and me, on our clothes and on us. As a vegan I did not feel good about have the non vegan ramen spilled on me. The waitress was very apologetic and helped us clean up as much as we could. She took 5% off our bill, which came out to $5. I didn't think that was enough but decided to deal think about how I wanted to proceed. We went home and tried to wash our clothes right away. There were strains even after washing. I sent a message to the manager via Yelp that night. There was no response so I tried emailed management through the restaurant website. Still no response. I was hoping not to ho public about this but no one has responded. I don't appreciate that and $5 doesn't cover the cost of dry cleaning or replacing our stained clothes. I hope management sees this and responds regarding this issue. read more

I ordered spicy miso ramen and it was amazing!!! I will be going back asap for more of that goodness!! Service was awesome and atmosphere was fun for evening drinks with friends. read more

We had the sashimi platters. The fish was really good quality. Not the freshest. Not a good value. But overall good for the area. The sushi however is not made to order tho. Might have just been made, might have been sitting on the conveyor for hours. Who knows. Some of it was literally sweating. But if you want fresh sashimi its not a horrible spot read more

What a great downstairs getaway! Very reasonable prices and very yummy. Good for a date or to just hang out. The unagi don was delicious! Lots of options to choose from. The tempura ice cream was huge! Definitely a dessert easy to split amongst two. I will definitely be back. read more

The atmosphere brought me in, but the food and drink have me begging for more. The bowl for the Miso Ramon was big enough for two people to eat comfortably, but I put a big dent in myself. They were kind enough to swap the gin for vodka in the Lychee gimlet and it was dangerously good. I would come again and again to taste all the different choices. read more

My boyfriend and I enjoy coming here for some good Japanese/Asian food. The staff is very helpful, and it's never too crowded when we go.

I went here before a show at the Hult. Great staff, consciences of our time. The food was excellent. Must try the green beans! I loved my blackberry mojito and all the dishes we had. I will definitely be back! read more

The experience from when we first walked in the door should've been a sign to go elsewhere. We stood around for a few minutes before someone was even visible. The reason we were given no one was around was because they had just opened - that didn't make sense to me. We had sat down and ordered our drinks, I ordered a Coke and she serves me a Pepsi. I'm not a huge Pepsi fan and can taste the difference. This is the only establishment I've been to that did not ask if I'd be okay with a Pepsi. We ordered: agedashi tofu (it was alright, not the best), takoyaki (decent), steamed dumplings (edible), curry rice with katsu (curry was good but chicken was not edible), mackerel (good) and oden hot pot (never got it). Let me explain the oden hot pot scenario. If you're Asian like me, you know what hot pot is, it's generally on a gas stove top where the soup boils so your contents would cook. When the waitress brought the pot and stove over, the stove had no butane. They went looking for one and was unsuccessful. She told us that we'll just need to let her know if we'd like it heated up if the soup cooled down. The soup was not hot enough and had already been sitting there for about 10 minutes. The enoki mushrooms were not cooking. At that point I wanted to refuse the dish, but we allowed her to take it into the kitchen to heat it up. At least another 10 minutes go by and our hot pot is no where in sight. Keep in mine we've already finished our other dishes. Losing patience, I flagged down our waitress to let her know we didn't want the dish anymore - which she understood. It took her about another 10 minutes before she came to our table again to ask if we'd like our check. We said yes and another 10 minutes go by before we get our check. I've worked in food service for a long time and with the amount of customers and workers servicing the customers, we should've been provided with better service. As for the quality of the kitchen, I cannot speak for what's going on there. read more

I went in expecting a comfortable night out with my husband with some comfort food, and I'm about to leave with a much more realistic perspective of what this place has to offer. While the menu and ambiance are very cozy and laid back, the food is on its A game. The salmon poke was the best poke I have ever had. The curry udon was simple and warming, but packed a full mouth of flavor. The gyoza was beautifully crusted and equally tender. We will be back, many more times. This place makes you feel relaxed and laid back, but the food does not mess around. read more

My daughter loves sushi food and decided it would be fun to introduce her to izakaya style restaurants. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and we ended ordering the champon udon, steamed spinach, and green bean goma. The udon was spicy and hit the spot with it's flavor but we both wished it was less salty so we could enjoy some broth with the noodles. The spinach was absolutely amazing and we loved the sauce for the green beans. The green beans were a bit tough but I think it would be fabulous when in season. read more

So this place is hands down my favorite restaurant in that area. They are fast and so nice, the food is delicious and the ambiance is cool and effortless. Some nights they have live music and the bar area offers food later in the night when the main restaurant is closed. Did I mention the food is delicious? Well it is! read more

Great spot for a quick bite at the basement bar. Cody did a great job of recommending a local brew and favorite sushi/soup combos.
