Absolutely amazing dining experience! The hostess greeted and seated us with a smile. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance just feels good. You feel like yes this is going to be good as soon as you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks and food are on a different level! Everything is served with passion. The drinks as well as the food look like they are prepared with care. Service is very good and attentive. Portion size, didn't see many walking out without left overs. Chicken Molé de licious!! Mixto with shrimp pulpo and scallops dr licious!! Drinks, yes!!! Refreshing and really good. My new favorite place. See you again!

My wife and I went in for breakfast. We enjoy chilaquiles but are not usually satisfied with restaurant chilaquiles. This place has raised the bar. The food was delicious. The portions were excellent. The service was great. Our waitress was really nice. This place just felt like going to eat my mom's house when there is a family gathering. I will definitely be back to try their seafood and Micheladas.

Ordered a Botana de Aguachile that cost 35.36 which should be a trey of agua chiles they gave me enough for 2 tostadas. When i went back to say something the guy behind the counter said that the "Tostada de Aguachile Rojos o Verdes" that cost 18.72 is supposed to have more than the botana. He had an attitude and did not want to fix it just said this was his excuse

Our first time here! My daughter took me to celebrate my birthday and the food was amazing and the service was great. I'm posting this almost 2 weeks later and my daughter already told me she's been thinking of the camarones and pulpo el jefe- it was delicious. We also ordered el molcajete volcán and it was also very tasty. As we waited for our food- we saw many other dishes we want to try next time. Can't wait to come back.

The food was fantastic! We had a molcajete cielo, tierra y mar, and it was incredibly flavorful, had some of the best meats and seafood we had eaten in a long time. The service was top notch - Maricela took care of us and was very attentive throughout the whole visit. Thank you so much!!

Just ate there last night. We have eaten there on 3 other occasions and it wasnt too bad. The beans they serve with the chips and salsa are delicious but they used to serve them in a little salsa bowl. This time around they served them in a sample cup I KID YOU NOT. We were a large party and when I saw their sample cups of beans and salsa I asked for more since we were more people. I was told they were out and would bring some when they have more, everyone around us kept getting some but they were out for us. I ordered breaded shrimp for my daughter and they were supposed to come with rice and salad. I got POPCORN shrimp. It was like they cut up a large shrimp and breaded its parts and tried to pass them as regular sized. Not to mention the shrimp in the picture were 3 times the size of what we got. The rice was super mushy. This crappy dish made my daughter sick. Another dish that was ordered was shrimp and chicken in mango salsa. They werent kiding about the mango salsa. The measly 4 shrimp I got were DROWNED in the mango salsa on a bed of more mushy rice. The chicken tasted like those frozen chicken strips used in precooked frozen pasta dishes. Do Not recommend this restaurant. Over priced and for a tummy ache. I recommend you stay in and eat the shrimp cup of noodle. The shrimp are tiny too but for a MUCH better price. I will never come back to this restaurant! The menu had NO prices to start off. How the hell am I suppose to know what I'm paying for? Are they making their own prices for the day/weekend or what? I ordered a shrimp cocktail and half way through it is when I got my crackers and when I asked for more lemon they came back with dried up limes. The childrens chicken nuggets were Dino buddies. AND The girls up front were all talking and laughing while looking at my table! Never again!!!!!!! read more

Came back a month later and tried something new, Aguachiles, it did NOT disappoint. Super spicy but sooo much flavor!! I'm super picky about my shrimp and it was clean w/ a fresh taste. 100% coming back for aguachiles. I bought just a tostada & I had enough to eat later. Generous portions. If you don't speak Spanish don't go. Our experience at the restaurant was VERY disappointing. The service was subpar; we felt unwelcome with the staff giving us unpleasant looks and neglecting to check on our table. To make matters worse, we were charged for a mega margarita that we did not order, and our server never bothered to check in on us. The overall quality of the food was only average, adding to our overall dissatisfaction with the visit. read more

The food was delicious but the service was lousy. They sat me and my small baby toward the front. This was fine until we realized they had a live band set to play and sat us in front of a loud speaker. When we complained it was too loud for our small baby saying we'd be happy to sit somewhere else, the manager actually told us "people request this type of music..." You obviously don't understand the problem. It's not the type of music... You sat a small baby next to a loud speaker. Very disappointing. We are locals. Walked there from our house. We were looking forward to a new dinner spot. Since they are not child friendly, we won't be returning. If you have a kid, I highly recommend the food lab. The staff there is much more considerate of children. read more

I had fried tilapia and a michelada. The food was good and came out on time, as did the drink. No complaints about the kitchen staff. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. The service, however, was sub-par and not what I expected. It was Friday, so they had a live band. That is a big draw and the music is nice. We just weren't expecting it to be so loud. We came in with a 1 year old baby and were seated at a booth directly in front of the speakers before we realized a band was going to play. We received our drinks and put a food order in when they started playing. The volume out of the speakers was so loud that you could not speak without shouting. And the volume could not have been good for the baby. I brought it up to the waitress, eventually, that "we weren't expecting it to be this loud when we sat down", but she just stared at my like I was an idiot, walked away and did nothing about it. When we finished our food, the plates sat there empty for about ten minutes. Our server made eye contact with me three times before she came over so we could be bussed and given our check. With the check, came the manager. I shared with him exactly what I said to the server and he, at first, thought we just didn't like the music, saying "people request this type of music". I repeated "we didn't expect to be seated in front of the loud speaker with a baby" and that it was "too loud for his ears". He only said sorry and that was the end of his complaint resolution. I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years in all positions of the restaurant. Even at small places I worked at, our complaint resolution was never just a half-hearted apology with an excuse, but offered incentive to return through problem solving (offering to move us earlier or turning the volume of the speaker down just a bit so that we might stay for another drink or a dessert) or a small monetary incentive to come back (offering a discount). Based off of my experience and my unbiased first impression of the restaurant, their servers and managers are not skilled at complaint resolution or problem solving. They need more consideration and overall desire for encouraging repeat business. read more

I am currently sitting down at the restaurant writing this review because I am so disappointed with the service here. I've been here one time before and the service was okay but the food was amazing. This time has been a different story. My friend, brother and I ordered 3 very different items so we knew logically they should come out at different times. HOWEVER, in the 30 minutes it took to get our food ready, the server was no where to refill our drinks or service us at all. She instead was chatting the people at the bar. This time, I got my Ecnhiladas Michacoanas and they were cold to the touch. My brother ordered a soup that took a lot longer and the expo/server probably left my plate there to get cold. When I told her that my plate was cold, she took it back. The same plate I had one minutes before was brought back to me, instead of being served a new plate. I tried it anyway but it was not quality at all, reheating enchiladas makes them not near the quality of when they are first made. I left my plate untouched and if I wouldn't have asked our server to speak to the manager, she probably would have ignored the problem. She was, however, very kind and shes probably just newer but this is the second time service is subpar out of the two times I have been here. When I spoke to the manager, he was very kind and understanding. But I really hope that they never just try to reheat a plate again. That's absolutely terrible server. If I wanted reheated leftover food, I would have stayed home. read more

Literally the best food and drinks I have EVER Encountered! The PINA LOCA was the best I have ever had stacked with pineapple and Mexican candy to your taste buds! Look out for an amazing waiter named Gonzalo! His customer service is awesome! He is patient, explains everything very well, and he is genuinely a happy person which says a lot and I am surprised he isn't running this place! You know the place has fresh great quality food when not only my wife and I enjoy it but the kids as well!! It is obvious that the food is up to par by the fresh taste on any item you order! You can get full by only consuming half your plate! Bottom line I live an hour away and continue to come here as much as possible with my family! read more

I really don't know what all the fuss is about. We went in there on Friday night because I heard they had a mariachi band playing there. They were on break longer than they played; so we were disappointed. Chips were fresh but the salsa was bland and had zero heat. Also disappointing. Bean dip was acceptable. I had the camarones a la diabla. Sauce was thick but not spicy. Main course, beans and rice were warm, not hot. What mexican restaurant doesn't warn you not to touch the plate because it's hot? Not the case here. My wife had the salmon salad. Kind of pricey for a plate of lettuce with a salmon filet on top. Overall, I was not impressed. Menu too big, lacking basic combo plates. I know of at least 10 mexican restaurants in the area that I would go to before this place. I'm afraid we won't be back. read more

Went to see what this restaurant was like, the waitress took forever to attend us and we were sitting outside in the patio area in the heat. Took another long while to get us our drinks. Ordered a carne asada torta and the meat had a lot of fat and gristle on it. The Chile relleno plate my wife ordered had a hair in it and the chips were stale. My wife wanted me to leave them a tip regardless of the service so I wrote $5.00 as a tip on the receipt when I paid with my card but when my bank processed it turned out that the lady at the register added a 1 in front of the $5.00 and treated themselves to a $15.00 tip instead. Horrible service, horrible food, and they steal if you don't watch the tip section of the check. I will never go back and will not recommend anyone to this place, not even my worst enemy! If I could give a zero star I would! read more

The restaurant needs to communicate with customers re the cost of requests for premium liquor requests. We enjoyed the quiet ambience but we're charged in excess for requesting premium tequila shots in margaritas. The charge was outrageous at $15 a premium shot, resulting in $60 extra for 4 margaritas!!! The food was fair and reasonable but the liquor bill was exorbitant! It could've been communicated re cost. read more

I loved coming to this place back when my waitress worked their Liz was awesome always gave us the best service as well as Gonzalo, it seemed as their was a change of management and they got rid of all old personnel . Service is not the same anymore, it sucks! Food is ok.. we always use to order crab legs they were the best, however now with new personnel not good. The portion and taste was not the same. This is where all of your restaurant nightmares come true. Upon walking in. Greeter Had no personality poor customer service she saw us by the door. It was very stuffy inside.. but I thought OK maybe you know we will sit outside ... Our waitress also had no personality seemed very unhappy to be working you could totally tell. We order our drinks and my margarita had a fly in it. She apologized and took it back and I ordered a soda. Still giving this place a chance we get our food and it was terrible. My chicken enchiladas we were horrible they were dry had no flavor the chicken inside the enchiladas was so gross. The beans and rice even worse. The rice tasted days old it was dried out the vegetables inside the rice were hard stale just straight up nasty I've had better food from a street vendor. Spending $44 here was the worst $44 I have ever spent I didn't even eat my whole plate the waitress didn't even bother asking if we enjoyed our food or how we were doing. Everything was just bad I thought well maybe because I didn't order seafood maybe that is what they are good at but my sister ordered A seafood dish which was the soup and she said it was just not good at all. Everyone that I went with which was about five people we were all unsatisfied with our place and we all order different things I will never come back here again I don't understand how they have four stars stay away by all means this place is terrible and should not be serving such poor quality food literally feels like such a scam coming here everything is terrible the drinks food. Just stay away ! The plates literally look like they were just put inside of an oven. And supposedly the corn tortillas are fresh they don't taste fresh at all nor look at. Also my plate came with the Chile tell Riellno nd it was the worst Chile Rienllo had ever had in my life read more

My brother was craving ceviche and I looked places In the area. Ixtapa came up in my search and we went there for lunch. This place has a variety of seafood plate options. Super clean and the staff is friendly. My family loved their food selection and we are definitely coming back! The ceviche was freshly made and the portions are large. They specialize in Nayarit-style barbecued fish and other mariscos. I've read about their story and a bit of the back story about the and been wanting to have a meal prepared by them for a while now. They sell whole fish and charge by the pound. I won't get into the method and history of the cooking style, but it was a fun read if you have the time to look it up, etc. I'm not sure what their entire menu is, because when I found them, I knew I was going to order the pescado zarandeado. I do know that they offer camarones and pulpo (shrimp and octopus) for an additional charge. I added the camarones but passed on the pulpo (I personally just don't eat octopus anymore) and its just an additional $5. I was by myself and Anthony told me that the smallest fish they had was about 2 pounds at about $20/per. So overall, I spent a little more than I wanted to for a lunch, but it lasted me almost a couple more meals, so it didn't feel expensive - on the contrary - it felt like a great deal for delicious seafood and the shrimps were pretty large. The platter comes with accoutrements like onions, cucumbers, and juicy limes. They also make fresh corn tortillas, which are oh so fluffy and wonderful. At location I was at (more on that below), I was sitting in a yard with set up tables and I bought an agua fresca, but also was able to open a couple of my own beers (as long as I wasn't getting sloppy - the gentlemen there told me he had issues with some folks thinking it was okay to get plastered and driving away). I really wanted just enough beer for the pairing and to wash the food down. These type of experiences are the ones where it makes me feel like a background character/person getting to experience an Anthony Bourdain hosted travel/food show and they are among my favorite culinary experiences. There are a couple of locations that they use/used, but they move around and during my visit, I was talking to the Anthony and they are currently in flux and looking for a permanent or semi-permanent location. It's best to look at their IG page and/or stories to find out where they are (look for Mariscos Los Corchos on IG). I made the mistake of not doing that and started heading to their Jurupa Valley/ Riverside location. This spot is closest to where I actually had a meal, which was in Muscoy, near a corner of State Street and Mallory (which happens to be really close to another taco spot I love)

We were sat right next to where they made the tortillas and can see them being made since they had glass windows around it. However, there was one gentleman that was making tortillas who was on his cell phone texting or whatever CONSTANTLY at the same time while doing this. He had a glove on one hand and no glove on the other, and was touching the tortilla dough.....We all know how dirty a cell phone is! And what made it worse is at one point he itched the inside of his nose with his finger, and didn't even wash his hands or have gloves on after that. Definitely made my stomach turn and what caused me to go and write this review. I suggest a camera be placed at the tortilla station, add the notes about bacon in the beans and chicken in the rice, and add bell peppers to the fajitas. Also, maybe give the option of meatless beans and rice for the non-meat eaters

I recently visited Ixtapa Riverside for lunch, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service was lacking. We stood at the host stand for at least 10 minutes without being acknowledged or seated. Since we were on a limited lunch break, my friend and I ended up grabbing a menu ourselves just to be prepared. Once we were finally seated, the delays continued. It took quite a while for someone to take our drink order, and even longer for our food to arrive. The overall pacing felt disorganized and inattentive, especially during a time of day when many customers are on tight schedules. When the food finally came out, it didn't meet expectations. The rice was extremely hard, almost as if it had been reheated multiple times which made it difficult to eat and took away from the meal. Overall, the slow service and poor food quality made for a frustrating lunch experience. I hope the restaurant can improve its attentiveness and food consistency, especially during busy lunch hours. read more

Great little spot on the corner of Brockton and University in Riverside, passed by a few times and wanted to go for dinner. First, the service is top notch, genuinely friendly staff and fast service. Now to the food, some of the best and freshest mariscos I've ever had. The Molcajate my girl got was unbelievably delicious, literally made to perfection, and mi tiliapia seafood combo was amazing. They also give you a big portion so you will have some left overs later. Clean and comfortable atmosphere, very well put together establishment. Even with Covid the outside seating area was packed. I visited Ixtapa Restaurant in Riverside last Friday night to celebrate a birthday. It had been a while since our last visit, and unfortunately, it will be our last. The service was mediocre and the food was decent, except for the oysters, which were bad and caused my family to suffer from food poisoning. This was a terrible experience, and I strongly advise against dining at this establishment. The management should pay greater attention to the quality of their food to ensure the safety of their customers. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make necessary improvements to prevent such incidents in the future. read more
