We celebrated a special occasion with lunch at Ivey's yesterday. It was one of the best overall dining experiences I can remember. The service was exceptional and the kitchen nailed it. We started with a small bowl of crab bisque and a green salad. Our main dish was the grouper St. Ives. We topped it off with the caramel crusted pudding and a cup of Irish coffee. We've passed this unassuming little establishment thousands of times and never given it any thought until someone mentioned it in an article featuring shrimp and grits. As that is one of my favorite dishes, we put it on the short list of places to try. We arrived on a Friday evening and were promptly seated. The place is elegant enough to take a date or a business acquaintance, but not stuffy or pretentious. The food is equally impressive. We started our meal with crawfish pies, which were the perfect blend of spicy and savory. I had the filet oscar for my entree and it was one of the better steaks I've had anywhere, and beautifully plated as well. The service was impeccable and our total bill was inexpensive, considering the quality of the food. I highly recommend adding Ivey's to your short list of restaurants. read more

Visited Ivey's last week for the first time for a birthday celebration. My parents recommended it, as apparently it is one of their favorite local spots, but I had never been and I've lived in Baldwin County all of the 22 years of my life! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, giving recommendations to my siblings and I who had never been before. We began by ordering the soft shell crab appetizer, and spilt it amongst ourselves, loved it!! I personally ordered the Eggplant Jubilee and it was phenomenal!!! I am a very..opinionated seafood-eater, as I've had fresh, local seafood my whole life but Ivey's definitely met that standard. I will be back and bring friends next time! read more

Delicious food and good service. The bisque could use some more crab but the crepes were packed with lots of seafood. Tasty shrimp and fried grits cakes! This is advertised as fine dining so the wrinkled table cloths and filthy ceiling were a real turnoff. I would ask to sit in the front area next time as the ceiling in back is really gross. Last December, a group of 12 school friends chose Ivey's as the location for our holiday gathering. We graduated together (EHS Pensacola '66) and celebrate every chance we get. We requested an upstairs dining space as we tend to talk at the same time, Laugh loudly at times, and generally would interfere with other patrons' dining experiences. We had holiday decorations in our dining room and our dedicated server. We KNEW the food would be wonderful and we surprised and happy to have their decor to celebrate! Everything pertaining to our special celebration was made even more special by the hospitality we were shown! Hey, we even managed to climb the stairs successfully - not bad for 75 years young! We were on our way back to Mississippi when we decided to stop and eat here. The waitress was very nice along with the other workers. Our food was excellent and the Chef prepared it wonderfully. The appetizer was also great. The pricing was way lower than I would have thought it would be for the service and quality that we received. We will definitely eat there again. read more

We were pleasantly surprised at Iveys. First we had the grit cakes. Ill try to describe to you fully the contradicting flavors that come together to form this deliciousness. The Caramelized onions are sweet tasting , the blue cheese, well blue cheese. Walnuts for texture. My wife doesn't like blue cheese. She loved this. Def must try. For dinner we each had a ribeye. The one with bourbon sauce and one with garlic mushrooms. The bourbon sauce is sweet kinda like bbq can be. Good, but maybe too much on a ribeye for me. The garlic mushroom flavored was more my speed. Cooked right. Now for desert, get..... the .... Carrot .... cake! Just do it. Fit it in. You're welcome. read more

Always one of my favorite places to eat! Everything I have ever had is delicious! The crab soup is a must,I almost always get the shrimp and grit cakes but to today I tried the catfish with seafood sauce and it did not disappoint. Seafood crepes are another stellar choice. The prices and portions at lunch can't be beat for the quality of food served. Always ask about the daily lunch special,today it was Cajun chicken cordon blue and it was fabulous. Service is always good. This place is well worth the drive across the bay to eat. read more

Crab bisque amazing. Lemon drop very good. Rib eye good. Wasnt a fan of the crepes but they did have a good amount of seafood. The crawfish cajun alfredo sauce was superb. Casual attire is allowed. Very fair prices, very good service. We were there at opening on a fall Thursday morning and 45 minutes later it was packed. The tables aren't packed too close together but it is still a small room so it can get a little noisy This wasnt a problem for us but if you want a quiet little place that might not be here if they are busy. read more

This is without a doubt, the worst dining experience of my life! Dirty restaurant, amateur service, and poorly prepared food that I wouldn't even feed my dog. This restaurant claims to be 'fine dining'. Let's discuss... Not a single utensil or plate matches the other. Plastic salad dressing cups, straws!, and plastic water pitchers that the reject from Waffle House continued to spill everywhere. The wall deco, something out of a Denny's was dirty. If you enjoy the smell of mold and decorative cobwebs, then this is the place for you! My wife ordered the duck with an orange marmalade reduction, which turned out to be maple syrup and basalmic vinegar - absolutely revolting. I ordered this crap called catfish St. Ivey. It was coated in bread crumbs that tasted like the 3 month old grease that it was fried in. To further desecrate this poor catfish, they topped it with this terribad cornstarch slurry, that I am still trying to scrub off of my teeth. I should sue this place for mental anguish! read more

Delicious local seafood entrees in a variety of sauces with varying spices. Also poultry, pork and beef, but on the Gulf Coast, I recommend seafood. As close to fine dining as you'll find in Robertsdale with casual, relaxed atmosphere and with white tablecloth and cloth napkins. Good service, daily chef specials, 3 house salad dressings, as well as other choices. Great desserts and coffee. Consistently good, flavorful food with good service. (Air ducts need to be painted and bathroom could use a toilet paper holder.) read more

This is one of the best restaurants in Baldwin county. I have had everything from the steaks and fillets to the Grouper Prez, Almindine, flounder, catfish to the seafood crepes. They always have good service and would recommend the bannas foster for dessert. The prices are cheaper than most restaurants of this quality and the food is twice as good. Make reservations for dinner. read more

I was so excited to try this "fine dining" restaurant but left completely dissatisfied. To the point, if you are accustomed to fine dining you will not find true fine dining as one would experience in a large city at this restaurant. CONS:wall near our table was dirty with dried splatter marks, when we inquired re specials waitresses response was "Scallops." No details how it was prepared, sides, etc. I tried to order pecan crusted chicken which was described to have a honey glaze/sauce. I asked waitress to please not have the honey applied and that I would like a cream sauce, she replied that was not possible and that she thought a hollandaise sauce was a better choice!?!? My entree decision was ultimately a walnut chicken salad, it was extremely unsatisfactory; the dressing came as a side in a plastic container. I asked if they had sauvignon blanc and she said they no longer stocked it because "no one orders it." Our waitress was not skilled in fine dining. PRO: bathroom was exceptionally clean This restaurant may be the best place in this small town but it in no way should be called fine dining. read more

We were looking forward to dining at Ivey's based upon all the positive reviews so we headed there for lunch. The restaurant was not very crowded but took us at least 10 minutes to be greeted and seated. Once seated it took 15 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. When she finally came we ordered our drinks and food for a fear that it would take another 15 minutes for her to return for our food order. I ordered the rib eye steak and my wife ordered the pecan chicken. Once we ordered, the waitress brought what looked like Melba toast that was broken into very little pieces.The presentation looked horrible with some of the pieces tasting ok but a far majority of them were burnt or over seasoned My steaks was properly cooked medium rare but was soooooo salty and full of gristle that the steak was ruined. My baked potato was so cold the butter did not melt. My wife's pecan chicken was improperly prepared and had to be sent back. When it finally arrived the pecan flavor was fine however the restaurant used some sort of sickening sweet syrupy glaze that almost made it inedible. The food was way below average when you think of fine dining and the service was horrible. We will not be returning. read more

Ivey's is widely regarded as one of the best restaurants in the county. It's a small unassuming place just off the beaten path. Old historic building. White table cloth. Surprisingly reasonable lunch prices. It's more than a 10-12 Avg but not considerably so. A few of us went over today to try this place out. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Service was prompt and friendly. We started with the grit cake appetizer. Mains included: grouper almondine, a chicken Caesar and salmon. I had the grouper and it was exceptional. The fish was fresh, flaky and perfectly prepared. The seasoning / shaved almond topping was phenomenal. It was paired with a simple rice which worked well. They could have added a seasonal veg, but as it was served was one of the better meals I've had near the beach. The other members of my group quite enjoyed their respective meals as well. The grit appetizer was ok. Had a sweet element I didn't care for but the other members of our group loved it. The meal was served with a very basic green salad. The ingredients were fresh. They serve house made French bread croutons in lieu of traditional bread. They were well seasoned and definitely improved my salad. Great experience. Fine dining with a modest price tag. I would recommend dining here over the vast majority of restaurants found in Gulf Shores and Orange beach based on the quality of food and price! Next family beach trip will warrant a stop here either on the way to or on the way home. read more

Wow - a hidden gem! Stumbled upon Ivey's on accident. Hard to find reasonable upscale dining in Lower Alabama. Food might have been the best steak I have ever had in 37 years, despite frequenting steakhouses from California to New York in the past. 100% recommend. read more

Had a wonderful lunch today at Ivey's! We were a party of nine adults, mostly separate checks. We had no waiting for tables, to order, to get our food, or to get our checks. Our waitress was perfect, and we all enjoyed our entrees...not a bad meal in the bunch! I had the chicken spinach crepes and they were sublime, delicately flavored and a just-right texture. A huge amount of food and at a reasonable price. The only problem? I left my leftovers behind in the restroom....sad! read more
