I ordered a crawfish boil (crawfish, corn, and potatoes) from John's Seafood on Friday evening and unfortunately had a very concerning experience. By early the next morning, I woke up very sick with severe stomach issues, nausea, and stomach problems that lasted throughout the entire day Saturday. I was completely fine before eating there and did not start feeling better until Sunday when I was finally able to eat again. While eating, I noticed several concerns with the food. The corn tasted old, and many of the potatoes had brown specks/discoloration, which caused me to stop eating them once I realized most of them appeared that way. The crawfish bag was also very murky with a large amount of dark specks and black spots that I initially assumed were seasoning. After getting sick, I took the remaining crawfish and potatoes back to the restaurant to show my concerns. Unfortunately, the owner/employee would not take the food back or offer a refund. I can only speak on my personal experience, but I wanted to share this as a word of caution for anyone ordering takeout. Please inspect your food carefully. On my search for seafood boils in Pensacola I came across John's seafood. The food was full of flavor, affordable, and FRESH !!! I went twice and both times made me fall in love with the restaurant all over again. The waitresses are VERY attentive and ensuring that all their customers are taken care of. When you enter the establishment, it is self seating unless you would like to play a to go order. I ordered the weekend special (Fri- Sun) which consist of 1/2lb lobster tail, 1/2lb snow crab, 1/2lb headless shrimp, 1/4lb sausage, 2 corns, 2 potatoes and 2 eggs for $47.99 with the house mix em all and medium spice. I also tried a piece of catfish and it was tasty. Side note: They do offer military discount to anyone serving in the armed forces with a valid ID. read more

Consistently a wonderful, clean, and cute restaurant. This is the place to be for the best seafood boil in town. The staff is attentive and move things along quickly. We found John Seafood on yelp- definitely a hole in the wall- almost didn't go in due to the outside look- looked tacky- it's clearly a former fast food place that was changed into a restaurant- they did a pretty good job trying to make the inside different- it's definitely a casual vibe which is fun- we were eating late on a sunday night and the clientele was interesting- most were vaping or smoking outside before coming in- perhaps this is just the environment of this town- no idea. The inside feels a little dirty- the bathrooms are old and falling a part and give that dirty vibe. The plates are styrofoam which seems crazy for spending $70 and eating ooff styrofoam- at least it would be nicer if they were paper plates... 5/5 for the food though! The prices are pretty reasonable considering it's seafood. The kids split a catfish platter and it was nice and large- plenty of food for the kiddos. We split the john's special- very flavorful and mild was perfect. it came with a good variety. We really enjoyed the fried okra and the hush puppies which we ordered and are so glad we did! highly recommend both! Wow, what a lucky find! Just started working in the area and was trying to decide what the Hubby and I wanted for dinner. Read the reviews and decided to try the place out... so glad that we did. It's a small restaurant, and even on a weekday night it was packed, mostly with large groups of families, still we made it just in time to grab a table. There were so many choices on the menu, and I knew I had to try a boil while the Hubby opted for catfish and sides. You know you're in for a treat when they set a "dinner kit" including a bib, gloves and hand wipes before your meal. My boil was shaken at the table and poured out in a spicy, glorious mess. I was in the mood for crab, and it was steamed so well you could use the plastic fork to break the shell for those tiny pesky pieces. One potato was a little undercooked but I wasn't mad at it so I didn't take a star off just for that. The shrimps were large and flavorful. Hubby has eaten catfish his whole life and declared their catfish to be some of the "best he's ever had" which is quite a compliment. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and left very full. Service was fast and friendly, and you just toss everything into the little trashcans set up at every table. We definitely plan to come back! read more

1st the young girl that was at the register apparently either way new or just didn't care. Our first Experiance there and well we see her questions about the food and her answer was oh we get out coleslaw from Publix! Ok wow ,then after we decide she tells us that's the old menu taped to the bar! Ok well guess they don't have new ones cause she never off is one? On top of all that the order was was 4 shrimp ,4 oysters and I think 8;crab claw could have.been 10 either way not enough for 2 people to share! Won't be.back,not to mention it was filthy in there? OK, OK I get that It is an old Wendy's or some other fast food restaurant. The ambience is basically nonexistent. However; the service was phenomenal, and the food was even better. I am a total snob when it comes to these seafood boils in a bag. If you know me or read any of my other reviews, you know that crafty crab on the East Coast of Florida is one of my favorites. Well crafty crab can move over because this restaurant had exceptionally good boil was fast and efficient and very reasonably priced . It was incredible. You go to this restaurant for the food everything we had was delicious. The boil used real butter. The seasonings were just right. We did a mixture of all the seasonings. All the seafood was cooked perfectly. Nothing was overdone. Nothing was hammered. The corn was perfect. The potato was perfect. The seafood was perfectly cooked. You are not going to this restaurant for the ambience. It is a winner. I would have been happy to go on a date to this restaurant based solely on the food and service. read more

This place is doing everything right! Delightful food. Great price. Mix the Cajun and buttery garlic sauce. Clean and tasteful. Even though this is the typical "order at the front" and "pay with the cashier after you order" and "go fill up your own soda" type of place, the food is brought to you and the staff frequently check-in. This made it feel better than fast food. It is messy, ya'll! And, if you're like me, you don't spend a bunch of time with food that requires you to crack things and get messy. But don't let that detract you from trying this out. Just jump in, and have fun figuring it out! I should have taken pictures, but it smelled so good, and, let's be honest, once your hands were covered in sauce, the phone stayed in the pocket. This was my husband and I's second visit and we thoroughly enjoyed the seafood! The restaurant is a little on the hotter side, at least when we went so I recommend wearing short sleeves! I went back to give this place another try and I'm so glad that I did! Last time the crawfish tasted as if they were previously frozen but this time they were amazing! I had 3 pounds of boiled crawfish, 2 eggs, 6 potatoes, 3 corn on the cob and 1/2 pound of sausage! Way more than I could eat lol but Hey! I was hungry when I went in. If you stop in, regardless of what your ordering make sure you do the "mix them all" seasoning. It's all 3 of their specialty seasoning mixed together.
