Love the ambiance and great service. Food was good too. Sat outdoor for a friend's birthday dinner. I'll recommend

If Poseidon ever opened a restaurant, I imagine it would look a lot like The Fish House in Pensacola -- coastal, classy, and the kind of place where the cocktails arrive looking like they've been to finishing school. We went for lunch and grabbed a table outside, because why sit indoors when you can bask in that bayside glow and pretend you're in a Visit Florida commercial? You walk in expecting fish (it's literally in the name), but somehow I ended up being lured -- talked into, really -- ordering the Five Sisters Fried Chicken, which came with the bold promise of being "the best fried chicken ever." Listen... I love confidence. Truly. But calling it the best ever is like calling me the next quarterback for the Saints. Optimistic? Yes. Accurate? Absolutely not. Don't get me wrong -- the chicken was good. It was tasty. It was tender. The kind of fried chicken that makes you nod and say, "Yeah, that's nice." But the bottom was a little soggy, like it briefly thought about becoming a biscuit and then abandoned the mission halfway. Best ever? Not today. Now -- the shrimp cocktails? Excellent. Cold, snappy, and fresh enough that I felt the need to apologize to the Gulf. And the outdoor environment? Stunning. Breezy, bright, and basically crafted for people who want to casually drop "We lunched waterfront today" into conversations. And then, as if the universe wanted to remind us that Pensacola loves a good moment, we were buzzed by a Blue Angels flyover. I don't care who you are -- that instantly elevates any lunch. It's like Mother Nature and the U.S. Navy teamed up to give us a standing ovation. Overall? Fantastic shrimp, beautiful setting, solid lunch all around -- just not the fried-chicken spiritual awakening I was promised. Four stars. Would happily return... and next time, I'm letting the fish be the star.

Good grilled salmon & key lime pie. Food was better than last visit. They were understaffed and waiter not very attentive. Had to call a manager to pay the bill as waiter was too busy bussing tables outside while we were inside.

Catfish meniere

I was so skeptical coming here. I thought it would be another average waterfront restaurant. Boy, was I wrong. The hot collard dip, shrimp and grits, and catfish meniere were top tier. Excellent service and location, as the back of the restaurant overlooks the bay. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in Pensacola!

Ahi tuna nachos

By far one of my favorite places to go! Everything is so fresh! I cannot wait to back, the seared ahi tun and seaweed is amazing! The staff is always friendly and attentive. It's quiet but likely enough, perfect spot for a date night! The grouper and gnocchi is incredible! The California roll isn't my favorite, but the ahi nachos were good!

Wedge Salad (Smaller than expected).

Food was good, great service and sitting outside provided wonderful ambiance. Portions were generous and they allowed one in our party to change their meal when the size of the Wedge Salad was smaller than expected. They were gracious, Myah (server) was pleasant and very accommodating. If you get Myah ... tip her well, she was THAT good!

This place lived up to expectations. It had a lot of reviews so I figured that there must be a reason that it was popular. We only had one night in Pensacola and had to make it count. I decided this would be the place to sample the local cuisine. We were a little nervous because it was a Saturday night at around 7:30 or 8ish. The outside was very inviting but they had a table available immediately inside. There is an aquarium which provided entertainment for me and some irritation for GF because I kept asking her to turn around and "look at that big one". Our server was excellent. She didn't keep us waiting for anything and checked in on us. They flattered us but asking us mid 30s broads for ID. I ordered the ?black cadillac and GF the regular, run of the mill margarita. I like the creativity with some of the drinks but my drink was basically a brick to the face with flavor. It was a little bit overwhelming. It would have been great watered down a smidge. I like flavors but it was too much syrup/mixer to the point where it was detrimental. Fortunately they have a very extensive beer menu that I was able to pluck something off of for my second drink. Their menu is also quite extensive but not in the how-could-they-do-anything-well kind of way. They had a lot of appealing appetizers, especially their collard dip which I probably would have ordered if it came with something other than pork rinds. I will say that I was VERY impressed by a few vegetarian/vegan options they kindly included! What a lovely surprise. I ordered a vegan entree, sweet potato curry, and it was better than I expected. It was really tasty. I ordered their pimento mac and cheese and this was absolute crack. I wish this came entree sized. GF started with half of a dozen butter and garlic oysters, she says, "outstanding". For her main, she ordered their famous grits a yaya she says "incredible" and then "I told you, I was really liking the seasoning, whatever seasoning they had in it". I snuck a few bites of the grits and they were phenomenal. If I was a lil less full I would have liked to try some dessert. Also if GF had given me the opportunity rather than answering "no we're ok" when they asked without discussing with me first. Lol. I can see what the hype is about.

A great water - view choice with fresh food fish that has not all been fried to death. At the entry there are photos of famous folks who came here, which made me fear it was more hype than quality. However, we had fresh oysters shrimp red fish -- great service Gulf oysters 1/2 dozen and super sweet not briney Shrimp cocktail-- excellent and fresh Cup of gumbo-- good Redfish Lafayette with crawdads and Gouda grits-- creamy grits. The redfish was moist and delicious Key lime pie-- ok Super friendly waiter ( thanks Cayden) who helped us discern the taste differences of local fish.

Truly enjoyed my experience. Friendly staff. Good food. Nice to sit outside on the water. First time trying them and I hope to be back soon. Shrimp and grits were amazing.

Fantastic! The tilefish was delicious, it was my first time trying it and I must say I enjoyed every bite of it. Hope our waitress was GREAT, she was very sweet and attentive we will definitely visit again when In the area. Also the heaters outside feel amazing. Thank you for having us!

Such a great location! It's right on the water with ample seating and a good menu! We came right from the airport so we had not worked up a large appetite yet but I got the ceasar salad and it was great. Our server was awesome. We were a larger party and they were quick, accommodating and kind. I would for sure come back here when visiting Pensacola again.

I had really high hopes for this restaurant and I think three stars is generous. It's not that anyone thing specifically was bad it's just in General a bad vibe. Everything was a disappointment. Our food was too Salty and that is coming from two people who love salty food like chips. It was just really heavily salted. The view is great and the service was excellent. We had the grouper bites which were good. I opted for the shrimp and grits or grits Yaya, which was very salty and heavily covered with a cheese sauce. I felt the shrimp was a little overcooked and overly spiced so that they tasted really, really salty . My husband had a burger which he did really like, and he also liked his fries. I think something bothered us is we sat across from a waitress station andthe bottom of the refrigerator was falling out, and there was trash all over the floor. with the prices that they charge for their food. I really thought this place should've looked a lot better. We won't return unless it's for drinks and just an appetizer. Just not great.

Fun outside seating available, but we close to sit inside due to the heat. Server was attentive and kept our drinks filled. We started with the spicy collard dip which came with a mountain of pork rinds. The Gouda grits were a big hit. The fish tacos had plenty of fish in each. Our second visit and we would come again.

If you want to spend a lot, this is a good place. Spent $125 on a couple of Happy Hour drinks and nothing special meals for two.

I'm sorry, I want it to be better but every time we come here no matter what dinner entrée I get, it's gross. I had the grouper piccata and it was inedible. The fish stunk like fish, badly. It was stomach turning. The pasta was no better. Some sort of gross lemon flavoring or something, I'm not sure, but after a couple of bites I couldn't eat another bite. $47 in the garbage. To add insult to injury, the prices are stupid high. They also add some BS 3.5% "operational charge". It's minor compared to the price of the food, but it's just a shameless money grab. I'm beyond tired of businesses using COVID era nonsense as an excuse to completely fleece patrons. The prices don't even remotely reflect the quality of the food or the location or the atmosphere. It's in a liquor store for goodness sake.

This is complimented by the large, striking art pieces that occupy the entire wall along the north side of the store. And I'm declaring right now the lovely patio area to be one of the most, if not the most, delightful al fresco dining venues in Pensacola. And right now in early May, the patio is graced with the lovely fragrance of the blooming jasmine vines that adorn the trellises of the patio. Though most of the wines on EHWB's list are unfamiliar to me our lovely, efficient, and attentive server, Nadia, was quite knowledgeable and able to steer us to exactly what we were looking for to accompany the Muffuletta we had our sights on. The list consists of a nice variety of moderately priced wines. And at lunch, there are several wines offered at half off per glass. As we're old timers we shared a half Muffuletta. We could have shared a quarter. LOL. It is large. It is served on a bun that looks like a Gambino's, and may be. The bun seemed rather dry to us, not perfectly fresh, but nonetheless the sandwich was quite good. Loaded with all the traditional ingredients and very enjoyable. Would definitely do again, though for next week we've got the Cuban Press locked in on our radar screen. There are several things on the dinner menu here that are calling out to us so we very well work an evening visit in while here. I'm saying this store is going to a winner and a mighty fine replacement and more here in East Hill for City Grocery.
