I've been to this restaurant several times for both dine in and take out and have usually been pretty happy with the food and service. Today, however, they missed the mark and I feel compelled to provide some constructive criticism, as I wouldn't want to see this otherwise good restaurant fail. I had the Caprese Sandwich with Grilled Chicken + Caesar Salad and sparkling water, which cost me $40 with the tip. Rather pricey for a lunch, but it's Friday and I felt like treating myself, so no big deal. Except the food was rather underwhelming, and unnecessarily so. It felt as if they had the right idea and the right ingredients but failed pretty miserably in the execution. First, the sandwich. I picked it up and drove straight to work (5 min drive), which apparently was enough time for the bread to become completely saturated with water from the burrata cheese, to the point where it looked and had the texture of soggy bread pudding and it was entirely impossible to hold it together. I had to eat it with a fork, which was inconvenient and disappointing. This seems like a very obvious recipe flaw, as the burrata has high moisture content and needs to be coupled with a more sturdy bread, such as a focaccia. Overall, I'd give it 1/5 for presentation. Moving onto the chicken. It was cooked very well and the taste was there, but it looked extremely unappealing, as it was almost entirely BLACK and not because it was burned, but because it was just fully covered in charcoal specks, presumably from the grill, which perhaps hadn't been cleaned in a while. I specifically asked for the grilled and NOT blackened chicken, so I was very confused and initially thought that they just cooked it the wrong way, but upon closer inspection, it became obvious to me the black specks were not seasoning but plain charcoal residue. To make matters worse, these specks had contaminated all the other ingredients as well, which I found pretty gross. It certainly did not meet basic expectations, especially for the price point. I'd give it 2/5, because it was edible and the chicken was otherwise well cooked and flavored, even if a bit gross to look at. Additionally, both the sandwich and side salad were heavily drenched in sauce/dressing. The l Caesar salad, which was very small (about the size of a small cup of soup), had very few pierces of lettuce mixed in with a disproportionately large amount of dressing and cheese, which was not only very overpowering but it made the salad really soggy. It basically felt like eating plain Caesar dressing. 2/5 because the dressing tasted good, but there was simply too much of it, and since it was already mixed in, I couldn't fix it in any way. I ended up not eating it. I hope the owners can see this and pass it onto their chefs/cooks, as I've met them and I know they're very sweet and caring people. Everyone can have a bad day, and I'm hoping this was just a one-off, and everything will be great again next time. read more

We went here back in July for a friend leaving from their extended vacation this summer. Several of us had never eaten here, but I would have to say the overall experience was great! It has a nice cozy feel to it, great service, and the food was out standing! Would highly recommend! read more

Food was good and the service excellent, and the vibe was quite chill...but to me the most ingratiating aspect was that it was built on the bones of the old Greek Malamo Brothers grocery store on Haynes. This place has amazing Brussel sprouts and the fries and herbs are amazing but I think I always take issue with the entrees. Scallops were good but a little sandy. The grits were good, the cheese was a nice addition to the grits. The caramelized onions and the sauce just wasn't good. The sauce had a weird aftertaste for a seafood dish. I wasn't a fan of it. Decided to pop in for lunch and give this place a spin. Like some other bougie places that have opened recently around Pensacola, the prices are a bit off-putting, but having gone for a 7 mile trundle on 3 mile bridge earlier in the day, I was craving fat and salt. They hit that mark, but it cost me $40 with tax & tip. That is for just a salad and an order of french fries! The water came quickly in a real glass and tasted excellent. Very clean and cold, and greatly appreciated. Since it was a real glass I did not ask for a straw which is unusual for me. I enjoyed a nice view of the skatepark across the street as I dined, and watching all the people having a good time in the outdoors was refreshing. Most restaurants don't offer a view like this. There are a set of dining bars with chairs at the windows on either side of the door to amplify the view, but I opted for a traditional table since there were many available when I entered. As for the food... well, it was good, but not great. The $14 iceberg wedge was dotted with some delicious pancetta and gorgonzola cheese, and the lettuce was super fresh and crisp. Where it missed the mark was the overly mayonnaisey dressing. It really needed some more seasoning or something and I could not taste any buttermilk at all, even though it is called a "herb buttermilk dressing." The single cherry tomato (halved) was delicious and sweet, as were the 4 thin slices of radish. While the presentation was nice, it really needed more tomatoes and radish in my opinion, and a stoutly buttermilk dressing. The duck fat fries were crisp, too crisp. I enjoy the soft mushy potato inside the crispness of lard-fried potatoes, but very few of these offered that. They were generally too crisp, and some were crispy all the way thru making them a solid crisp. They came mostly unseasoned so I had to use the salt shaker generously. The sausage bits were good but a bit on the greasy side. The dipping sauce was mild, bland and oily, and I wished they had offered a ketchup alongside as well. Whether homemade or store bought, ketchup would have added color and some much needed acidity to the plate. Your mileage will vary, but for me, there are better options in my price range and this is not a place I can take hungry teenagers. read more

This is a nice, chill spot for a casual dinner. The atmosphere is casual, welcoming, & family-friendly. We felt very comfortable right away. There's also an outdoor seating area that I'm sure is amazing in warmer weather. The servers were warm & attentive, offering helpful suggestions, & thanking us for stopping by as we left. They were just genuinely pleasant. Now, the food. It's the next day, and we're still talking about how delicious the mussels were. The butter they're served with is delicious. After we finished the mussels, we poured some of that butter over our risotto just so we could keep enjoying it. The scallops were a great protein choice because they were fresh & perfectly cooked. Our only note is that the risotto leaned a bit salty, though they may have been on for adding the extra butter. Overall, I'd recommend this place. read more

Really great food service in atmosphere. My husband's fish sandwich was exceptional. He had a side, Caesar salad and duck fat fries which he loved. My hamburger was perfectly medium as ordered and what was so impressive was the fact that that it had a yellow heirloom tomato on it. I was so impressed with my tomato which was perfectly salted and peppered. Thank you very much. I pulled it off the hamburger and ate it by itself! My husband and I had dinner here a few weeks ago, this place recently opened and you could tell the staff is still working through some kinks.. upon arriving we stood at the front door waiting on a host for 20 minutes. We almost turned around and went somewhere else but we were determined to eat there so we waited. We ended up being seated outside at a picnic table. Our server was very nice and apologized for the excessive wait times, she was also the only person working outside that evening and they were slammed. We stopped in for lunch this past Sunday and found this place by complete accident but I'm so glad that we did! We sat outside in the quaint courtyard and Suze took amazing care of us! We were told that it was her birthday and she was genuinely excited that we wished her a happy birthday and had one of the best personalities! Drinks were always refilled and the food was fantastic! Nothing worse than feeling ignored after being seated. This is my second time eating here. The first time I had a delicious risotto that I did not see on the menu today. Today was during brunch. Tried ordering a breakfast sandwich and they were out of sourdough bread to put it on. Finally had to walk up to the bar to get a second mimosa because the server never came back around after food was delivered. The owners/managers seemed to be in the establishment walking around.
