We had multiple entries and appetizers. The only one I was disappointed with was the fried whitefish appetizer from the happy hour menu (cooked a tad too much). The Greek meatballs and pita with humans (also in happy hour menu) were good, and a great value. I had the scamp with crab meat cream sauce, was outstanding but very rich. Pork meatballs with homemade pasta wasn't my cup of tea, but adult son was impressed. The veal Boca was great (healthy portion also), as was the chicken. The service was excellent. Very attentive and reasonable fast. The restaurant is a small venue, nicely decorated. A tad loud, but not a problem. The happy hour options makes eating at a very nice restaurant more affordable. Valentines Day 2026 was another delightful meal at Agape for the Chef's Tasting Menu. This year we chose the quaint inside for dinner. Our bread course started us each with either a delicious Brioche or Focaccia paired with a different compound butter. 1st Course, Each of us enjoyed the Grilled Asparagus on Sourdough, topped with fried egg, Prosciutto, micro greens and chili oil. 2nd Course, We could not believe the size of the Rootbeer Braised Venison Sheppards Pie...Wow! 3rd Course, Cynthia had the Pork Cheek with 4 Cheese Grits and Pork Gravy, I had perfect medium rare Manhattan Strip with Heirloom Carrots and carrot puree. Cynthias Dessert was a White Chocolate dome filled with Peaches and mine was a raspberry filled cookie topped with champagne pearls. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of trying this place and wow, I ate. Sat at the bar with Chris, the bartender, who was super friendly and fun to chat with. I did the cocktail sampler, standout was the Med Mule, very much a new favorite. Interior felt very cozy, I came at about an hour and 15 minutes before close so it wasn't in any way overwhelming. Chris suggested the Greek totchos, and while it sounds wild, they're delicious, perfect if you like gyros and potatoes. The real star, though, was the Chef's blind tasting: a four-course meal completely curated on the fly for $70. Servers don't know what you'll get, but dietary preferences are respected. I had lamb shoulder, duck breast, wild hen étouffée, and a chocolate delice--easily one of the top three meals of my life. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and felt personal. Big shoutout to Chef Lawrence for walking me through it. I'll definitely be back, and nine times out of ten, I'm going blind tasting again. read more

I thought this was a well thought out review, but it somehow never made it on Google, explains the ratings they have. My gratitude goes out to the kitchen staff for saving me untold amounts of money going forward. It's a quiet bistro environment which is dirtier than desired but not so dirty as to leave. The floor is old and off putting for the ambience of an upscale establishment. The meal starts with some contraption of fried dough, which is described as beignet like, but has the density of a hush puppy instead. It's odd to detract points for free items, but had we not already placed a food order we would have just had a few drinks and left. The honey which encompasses these balls is sickeningly sweet with no balance of savory, umami, or spice to provide relief. Next we had the oyster slider for an appetizer. This dish was fundamentally flawed in execution but the idea behind the dish was sound. This is the type of dish which tells me the kitchen no longer eats their own food. The biscuit was too large for the oyster, so there was no singular scrumptious bite to be found. Instead it was a mouthful of moist bread with your tongue desperately searching for a textural bit to clasp. The oyster needed a thicker breading to hold up to the wet elements and those elements could have both been on the bottom allowing a more satisfying crunch to the overall dish. My wife ordered the lobster roll and fries. The fries were flaccid and pale, and if anyone is gone serve my wife flaccid and pale it's going to be me. She had to dress the fries with salt and pepper table side, which in "fine" dining is an atrocity. Salt is for the kitchen, not the table. The lobster roll itself was very generous with the portion of protein. For me it was a too dill forward but my wife found the seasoning appropriate. I ordered confit duck and waffles. I have no idea what I received. Confit duck should be falling off the bone with a stern look and such a flavor bomb I wag my tail upon devouring. This was a bland and tough duck leg, that I couldn't even finish. The waffle could be made at any Quality Inn breakfast included buffet around the country. Props for my egg being properly cooked and still runny in the middle. This was so underwhelming, all it did was cost a hundred bucks and build the bluster for farts later in the day. The mimosas were great but all mimosas are, just head to Calvert's, Scenic 90, or Aunt Katie's; it'll save you money and the food will be better. read more

The feta cheese was outrageous, and we shared the scamp entrée with perfect vegetable risotto, which was also outrageous.. Valentines Dinner @ Agapi was more than my husband & I anticipated. The service was by the Chef himself and a server Joann. It was planned for us to do the Chef's Blind Tasting Menu which has forever changed our tastebuds. Food is incredible. We started with the charcuterie board and the burratta dish. Both amazing. Mains - our table got the southern chicken, scamp and filet. We tried each others meals. It all was amazing. I personally enjoyed the scamp and risotto combo. Truly phenomenal, but I'm a sucker for good risotto. Drink - the house margarita is out of this world. Service - lovely. We ordered the seared elk and the lamb chops and they were the best meal we've ever had! The meat was so tender but had a nice char on the outside and the sauce was top notch as well. OK. Just one more review and I'm over and out. I promise. But I haveta comment on our dish this evening. Being National Wine Day we ordered a bottle of a lovely Sancerre to accompany our shrimp bisque and fish entree. A perfect pairing. We both thought the shared shrimp bisque was not as robust and flavorful as in previous visits, but still quite enjoyable and served piping hot, and get this... the kitchen presented it to us is separate bowls! That's a class act. But the Gulf Scamp Cervantes... wow. My wife has had it several times before but this was a first for me. Locally, line-caught scamp, topped with jumbo lump crab in a shallot cream reduction over creamy herb risotto and several spears of perfectly cooked Broccolini. Scamp grouper is said to be the Captain's Meat, so good it is reserved for the boat's captain. And this lovely piece of fish was cooked to absolute perfection. Super moist and fall apart flaky. It is topped with the cream sauce and a generous portion of lovely white lump crabmeat. The risotto is risotto perfection... smooth and silky; such a tasty complement to the fish and broccolini. And once again... the kitchen divided the shared entree into two plates. No shared plate charge! Hat's off to this kitchen! Our server, Dania, was so enjoyably cordial, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive. Of all our dining experiences over the past three weeks here, this was just tops. Came in after getting a reservation for four on a Friday night. Restaurant is quite small but cutely decorated. Waitress brought out deep fried garbanzo beans as a table snack, these weren't particularly good or flavorful so no one ate them, lol. My mom ordered the Chargrilled Octopus (olive oil poached octopus tentacle, charred lemon, pickled pepper medley, vinaigrette) and this is significantly smaller of a portion than what was shown on Yelp from other reviews. The portion for something that's meant to be shared was really sad especially considering it was $16. I ordered the Southern Chicken Saltimbocca (airline-cut breast, prosciutto, sage + gruyere filling, pecan crust, peach chutney, grits, garlic wine jus) and it was fantastic! Really great portion and very filling, though the chicken breast was extremely dry, all components together made a hearty meal. I was impressed by the presentation of the Saltimbocca. Lots of other great looking menu items that I'm excited to come back and try. They also have a brunch on Saturday's that looks pretty awesome. read more

I get why people love this place - the staff was top notch and the food is so unique! That said, it felt like there may have been some understaffing during my time there as it took very long for everything to come from the first drinks to the apps to the entrees. Our waitress and the staff were great like I said but the extensive wait did slightly make the experience a bit less great. Also, a random thing I noticed is that the table we were at had a naked light shining directly down on us which took away from the ambiance / comfort slightly. Love coming here, menu changes some what frequently and they always have fantastic specials. Recently had the elk tenderloin and it was great! The local has outdoor and indoor dining - however I have only ever sat inside. It's small but has enough tables for the location. If you're planning to go for dinner, especially on Friday or Saturday you're going to want a reservation. With that said this spot also does custom menus SO if you're celebrating something special call ahead and ask about putting it on the menu, they'll toss whatever it is on the top of the menu and make it custom for your table. Furthermore, if you're doing that I'd recommend you also pre order a drink and appetizers, they do this and once you sit down they'll deliver - makes the celebration/experience that much more! As for food I already touched on the elk, for their appetizer they have grilled octopus which is amazing, a charcuterie board that's suburb, and rotating oyster - which are also incredible. There's tons to pick from on the menu and their drink menu includes beer, wine, and custom cocktails. Wine is pretty diverse AND very good on the price for a bottle and glass, recommend the bottle. read more

Agapi is a Pensacola hidden gem and also a fantastic addition to the food scene, as everything there seems to be seafood with few options for vegetarians like myself. We dined on a Friday evening with reservations-this place gets busy so do book ahead! I absolutely love the variety on the menu, which has plenty of choices for plant-based foodies. When ordering drinks, I was pleased to see that they offer a cocktail flight, which allows you to try 3 different cocktails-this is such a great idea, especially for indecisive people like myself! All of the drinks I tried were good, but not great-but I will look forward to trying a new set of 3 next time. We began our meal with the Tempura Cauliflower (happy hour special) and the Sweet Potato Fritters (September special)-they were both delicious. For my meal, I had the Vegan Kefta, also a September special, and I was blown away-Agapi, if you're reading this, PLEASE make this a permanent menu item! It was so nice to have a vegan meal with protein and that wasn't just a pasta. There was so much flavor in this dish and I'm still thinking about it. I also tried the Brussel Sprout Cassoulet (without bacon) and sadly wasn't super impressed-the brussels were still a bit tough, but luckily by the time they arrived I was fully mesmerized by my kefta. My parents loved their meals as well and my mom can't stop talking about the chicken she had and how she can't wait to come back. I too cannot wait to come again...IF that kefta is on the menu again (I'm begging you, Agapi!) I must also note the incredible service-even before my visit, I reached out to Agapi regarding questions about the menu and they were quick to answer and even messaged me about their vegan specials for the month-THIS is customer service, and I was incredibly impressed! Reserved the private room for a celebration dinner and Agapi did not disappoint!!! First off, the room was beautiful and elegantly set for our party of 10. She even adjusted the lighting for us. The menu selection was quite varied and we did a lot of sampling. Hard to choose the favorite from the octopus, rabbit saddle, Brussel sprouts and more. Entrees were generous portions and a feast for the eyes as well as the taste. Extensive wine and cocktail list. Desserts were passed around the table as well. It's been months since we went out for dinner and the theater so we decided to try Agapi Bistro since they offer true Vegan options on their menu I has such high hopes for a scrumptious meal but the meal missed the mark. The asparagus was on the mushy side His overall assessment of the meal underwhelming. I ordered the watermelon poke as an appetizer. I never had cooked watermelon so I was intrigued The presentation was lovely the flavor was ok. I could not taste any of the ginger, maybe I was expecting too much the rice was a bit undercooked. Sweet rice tends to be soft this still had a bite to it. It was not unpleasant it was ok My entree the wild mushroom spinach strudel looked amazing, the phyllo wrap was dryer than expected but acceptable what was disappointing was the filling had no flavor just salty. I was expecting to taste multiple fresh flavors but it was just salt. The wilted spinach and Bellpper with the entree had a nice bed of spaghetti squash which was taste however there were squash seeds added sprinkled over the dish which I was excited to see however the seeds were not roasted so they were soft and hard to chewy anyway I completed less than half. I had high hopes for the lemonade raspberry tart vegan dessert but when I ordered I was told there was none. For those who eat vegan cheesecake it was available but it is not my favorite no matter who makes it so I ended my meal with no dessert. So will I try again, most likely yes, I will give them a try again maybe for lunch. I appreciate and applaud a chef who makes Vegan specific entrees. I called prior and booked the "Chef's Table / Chef's Blind Tasting Experience" at this restaurant for our 39th Wedding Anniversary. It sounded terrific on the phone.... "Meet the Chef" he'll "prepare some dishes for you at the Chef's table" and it's a very "intimate experience with the Chef preparing a four course dinner specifically for you." The reality is this: We were placed at a regular table on the side just like everyone else. Never met the chef. The Sous Chef / Waiter came out to deliver the courses to us and even said he "didn't even know what the chef was going to prepare" for us. Although he did a great job explaining what each course was, each and every course (which was straight off the normal menu) was lackluster and had their individual problems. We started with a "bread course," a piece of white sourdough bread with a pat a butter. Then on to the four courses: Course 1: I had the Artichoke Paella which was mushy, bland, lukewarm and burnt, the arborio rice itself was mushy but had a hard center indicating it being undercooked. My wife had the Braised Peanuts which she enjoyed and to be honest was quite creative. Course 2: We both had the Vegetable Tajine which was bland with uneven cuts of harissa speckled throughout and once again lukewarm. Course 3: I had the Impossible Meat Harrisa Meatballs. The meatballs themselves were dry but complimented by the mushy coconut risotto, and the portion size was quite small. My wife had the Cauliflower Kiev which she told me later was very greasy, the flaxseed crust felt like a phlegm paste on her teeth, and the bits of sun dried tomatoes tasted like they were taken straight from the jar and sliced too large to be appetizing. Then came our last course - Course 4: We both were given the Raw Chocolate Tartufo, which looked wonderful but was rock hard like a piece of frozen ice. Even after 10 minutes it was still almost impossible to cut into (I used a steak knife that was left on the table to attempt to do so as the only implement given was a small dessert spoon - see video). We even mentioned to the waitress about the frozen dessert, asking how to cut into it, she mentioned that it would have been better "from the fridge and not the freezer." The waitress offered to give us something else for dessert but we declined as by then it was quite apparent that the "Chef's table experience" was not what was promised. The waitress also offered to box up my wife's uneaten portion of Cauliflower Kiev but we declined as it was not enjoyable at all. To be quite factual, this restaurant should rename the "Chef's Table / Chef's Blind Tasting Experience" as the "Sous Chef or Waiter Blind you'll just get whatever we want to give you off the menu Experience" as everything we received were just smaller portions of what was already on their normal menu. There was no "meeting the Chef" although we did see him in the distance chatting to other people up at the bar. We noticed another couple near us also having the "Chef's table experience" at another normal table from the same Sous Chef / Waiter while the Chef remained up at the bar. Summary of our experience: This was not a "Chef's Table Experience." No effort beyond the normal menu was given by this restaurant. The base price per experience ($75 a head, not including drinks or water) is over priced to say the least. Showcasing an "Impossible Meat Meatball" as their "vegan creation" is unremarkable, unimaginative and pedestian. The Chef made NO EFFORT whatsoever to great us, interact with us or ascertain if we enjoyed any or all of the courses. The Sous Chef (presumably as his "stand in") did nothing more than what a waiter would do - bring out the dish and say what it was, then leave. All in all, this entire experience was wholeheartedly a DISAPPOINTMENT. I will also leave this review on Yelp, Happy Cow, VegNews and the Pensacola Vegan Chef Challenge (which I'm surprised they are a part of); AND, I will tell everyone I speak to about our experience and recommend that they take their business elsewhere. read more
