While the patrons were friendly and welcoming from the patio to the bar top the overwhelming fragrance of vomit assaulted my nose moments after entering the establishment. I was perplexed by the lack of anything resembling an Azalea and its inherent beauty. Do not ask for specialty cocktails as beer in a closed can is your best friend. I asked for a menu, no menu , no kitchen staff, free food was available, oddly enough. Thank you but no thank. Nothing good in life is free. I did not inquire as to what the food was as the odors perfuming the space were horrendous. I believe this establishment needs a desperate make over and perhaps some azalea bushes outside wouldn't hurt. I wish you the best in your journey towards improvement. read more

Although the Az(zzzzzzz) can be as smoky as other dive bars, and it's true that sometimes the bartenders can be colossal dicks, I've had some great times here. I don't think that I would say that I've ever seen it crowded, but I've seen it busy at the bar. Bring cash, as you can't use debit or credit. There's no food within, so arrive with vittles in your tummy. Never seen a fight here, but if it's after 11 or so, the possibility of the drunks in here getting a wild hair to engage in MMA is approximately zero. Go check it out. Some people love it, some people hate it, but it's a solid bar with lots of history and even if you are from out of town, you won't be shunned. read more

We've been meaning to try this place, but we aren't "lounge" regulars. One night we decided to give it a go! We were pleasantly surprised by the very clean and cozy atmosphere, the friendly service and diverse group of customers. I guess they used to allow smoking inside and they don't anymore. I'm very sensitive to smoke and I didn't smell any. I also think they used to have a reputation for very strong drinks. We ordered margaritas - which weren't that awful sweet kind - and they were just right and not overwhelmingly strong. Won't become a regular, but I'm glad we visited and would recommend it to anyone interested in local lore. read more

Definitely a classic Pensacola dive bar. Cash only, STRONG drinks for under $6, jukebox, darts, pool, claw machine.... If you can't stand cigarette smoke you should probably pass on this place, but honestly you should check it out regardless. The Z has been around since the 1940's and still sports some of the original art work and interior from many years ago that give it a certain charm. read more

What can be said about the good ol' "Z"? It's a no frills bar with a jukebox, smokey air, and good bartenders. It's been around forever and will probably always be around, like Spam and Keith Richards. Though, you should know that it's cash only (there is an ATM on-site) but there's plenty of free parking and a pool table up front if you feel like reenacting The Color of Money. read more

Definitely a dive but drinks are nicely loaded with ETOHI give it 3 stars because of the amount of smoke in the bar. Needs a better ventilation system. Also, make sure to have cash cause that's all they take! read more
