Smoked Old Fashion

Pretty good smoked old fashion with knob creek rye; good ambience. Average service. It was crowded

I eventually managed to gnaw it up and swallow it.

I ordered the rib-eye steak meal to go so I could eat it in my room. I found that while the steak was cooked to my specifications, it was really tough and full of gristle. I'm not sure it was actually a rib-eye, either. It was more like sirloin. Definitely not worth the $36 I paid to eat it.

The Coastal at Portofino...We had nothing but the best experience here at the breakfast buffet, the Starbucks, the smoothie bar and the shops. Of course there is so much to do here that I missed the nail shop and massages or the evening dinners. But for the service and friendliness of the staff. I received nothing more than the utmost respect. Smiles and attentiveness. The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and had so many items to choose from, good coffee too. Glad we went here. The seats and tables were clean. The restaurant had pretty views of the double pools and views of the bay side of the gulf. With all the water bouncer activities steps away. So relaxing, enjoyable and inviting.

Superb menu, service, location. Take time to stay at Portofino, enjoy all the restaurant has to offer, enjoy the surroundings and Chef Julio & staff are excellent. I love bartenders Joseph & Ryan, managers Brian, Mitch, especially the wonderful Loretta [she always does breakfast], and of course Chee. Friendly, casual, but serious about great food & drink. Open 5-9 daily, breakfast on weekends & holidays.

Great food awesome service. Grouper Portofino is outstanding. Key lime pie is amazing. No need to leave the resort to have a great meal.

Since the three of us in our group aren't big eaters, we asked to split a portion of everything we ordered, and she didn't blink an eye. We started with the BBQ shrimp, which was fantastic! It's not a heavy, traditional BBQ flavor--it's more of a rich, New Orleans-style sauce. With six shrimp total, it was perfect for splitting, especially with the delicious bread served alongside it to soak up that amazing sauce. Nom!! Two of us split the wedge salad, and Brittany happily accommodated our special request for ranch instead of blue cheese. Our other friend had the kale salad and thoroughly enjoyed it. For the main course, the three of us split the filet mignon, which came with a dollop of mashed potatoes. The char on the steak was absolutely fabulous, and the potatoes paired with it perfectly! The restaurant is fairly dark and can get a bit noisy on busy nights, but we enjoyed our time immensely. Grand Marlin has private rooms and is easily the most high-end restaurant on Pensacola Beach. Our total was $178.00 before tip, which is well worth it. The attire ranges anywhere from dressy to beach casual, they have several great seating options for special occasions, and there's even a gift shop with some great finds. For anyone who remembers, this used to be the Boy on a Dolphin years ago. As an honorary Pensacolian since 1975, I consider myself a bit of an expert on all things Pensacola Beach--and you won't be disappointed here! Pro tip: Get a group photo by the bay before leaving. Even at night, it shows off those perfect Pensacola views.

What really sets Joe Patties apart is the quality. Nothing compares to the freshness of their fish and seafood. If you feel like you're paying a little more, just know that when you cook it properly at home, the quality more than justifies the price. One tip: if you're getting steamed shrimp, skip the pre-steamed option. Go to the counter, pick out the shrimp you want, and have them steam it fresh for you. Definitely grab one of their tubs of garlic butter and herbs and have them add half or the full amount depending on how much you're getting. I got the Argentine shrimp, about a pound and a half, and had them use half the butter. No one in my group expected it to be as good as it was. I set the plate down and it was gone in less than five minutes. I was lucky to even get three pieces for myself. We also purchased a whole grouper and had them fillet it for us. We seasoned it with their Everglades rub, and I have to admit it was probably the best grouper I've ever had in my life. The freshness makes all the difference. We grill often and have made grouper before, but it's usually been frozen, and it never comes out anywhere near this good.

He was friendly, outgoing, and helpful in a genuine way. Not one of those annoying, phony, over the top sugary types. Just a great guy serving great food. We both ordered the smashburger of the month, which, Dec 2025 was a double smash burger with arugula, pecan smoked bacon, goat cheese and fig jam. I ordered Cajun spiced onion rings with mine, and my husband got plain French fries with his. Jared recommended their remulade dip that comes with the gator bites to dip our onion rings and fries in, and it was spicy and scrumptious. The burgers were amazing, better than expected. Fries and onion rings were perfect. Crispy and not greasy. Same goes for the bacon on our burgers. No slimy, greasy bacon! It was cooked to a nice crispy texture but not at all burnt and still held that great flavor! The restaurant was decorated for Christmas with Buddy the elf and it looked great. Restrooms are next door shared with the bar and are clean and well kept. Excellent all around. Highly recommend!

The food was excellent--my steak, my mother's shrimp, and my wife's salmon were all cooked exactly to our specifications. Preparation, presentation, and taste were outstanding. Everything we tried was delicious, and I especially recommend the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The service at our table was solid, although I did notice several servers congregating and socializing near the bar instead of actively tending to their customers. Up to this point, I would rate The Point as "5 stars." However, my concern began with what I observed at the bar. We were seated close enough to clearly see the bartender repeatedly serve alcohol to a man who was extremely intoxicated--belligerent, loudly dropping repeated F-bombs, shouting at the top of his lungs over the Buffalo Bills game, and at one point staggering toward the restroom. As someone who served 23 years in law enforcement and retired as a U.S. Navy Captain (O-6), I fully believe individuals are responsible for their own behavior. Still, management always has a duty to protect the safety and comfort of all patrons, and to demonstrate concern for the surrounding community. That is where I became disappointed. The manager was present and clearly aware of this individual's behavior, yet no one intervened to stop service, redirect the situation, or address the disruption. The bartender continued pouring drinks despite the man's obvious intoxication. From a community-safety perspective, this is concerning. Even though Florida's Dram Shop Law is narrow--holding establishments liable only for serving someone under 21 or someone known to be habitually addicted to alcohol--the standard of reasonable care still applies in how management oversees its environment. Additionally, under Florida's comparative negligence principles, multiple parties can share responsibility when a foreseeable danger is ignored. While overserving a drunk adult may not create automatic legal liability in Florida, it certainly creates a community safety risk, especially when this person leaves the premises and gets behind the wheel on Highway 98. For that reason, I believe The Point's management and bar staff should take a closer, more responsible approach to alcohol service and patron behavior. Until the leadership demonstrates stronger attentiveness to customer safety and community impact, I would advise socially conscious individuals--and particularly military members and families--to consider this before choosing to dine here.
