You have to use the phone by the door and someone will come out and arrange for you to go inside. The drinks were good, service was friendly and the prices were actually better than we expected. First time inside Sister Hen. H.S. and I have eaten at Brother Fox several times, but a show at the Saenger, or our schedule has not permitted us to try Sister Hen until now. First thing that you need to know is that there are two guest rooms 001 and 002 that are on the same walkway as the entrance to the speakeasy. You need to go all the way to the last door furthest from Alcaniz and there is a box on the wall and inside is a phone. Just pick up the phone and there is no need to listen or talk. It buzzes a phone that the bartender carries around and he will come open the door. Inside is dark but still inviting, and the bartender is warm and friendly. There will be a bar in front of you as you walk in, and a handful of low tables with chairs to your right. We went to the bar. When looking over a bar I look for a few things. The most important to me is do they have craft cocktails. I usually can tell if I see fresh herbs and I did not have to look, since the bartender was working on some and filling the air all around us with the scent of fresh mint. The cocktails here were superbly well balanced and tasty. I can definitively say that this is a craft cocktail bar. I ordered an Old Fashioned and even H.S. said that she could drink it and that girl does not drink brown liquor! I enjoyed our pre dinner drinks and experience at Sister Hen. I am going to look forward to going again. Think on par with The Kennedy or Old Hickory if you need a reference point. read more

I took my honey here for his 50th birthday. We had passed this establishment a few times and wondered what it was. Glad to say that I picked this place. The restaurant is small but cozy and intimate. There is seating on the outside as well. Food was amazing and the staff friendly. You're able to make reservations which is great. We also stayed at the unique boutique like hotel attached. Pensacola's only speakeasy style lounge (that I know of...lol). I won't reveal any secrets on how to get in, as that is all part of the fun. Once you can get inside you are immersed into a darkened candle lit room that has the feel of what the prohibition era may have been. There can he a long wait due to the limited availability, so be prepared. You can always grab a drink or small plate at the sister restaurant next door, Brother Fox. Once we were granted entry and took our seats at the bar, we were warmly welcomed by Chloe and AJ. They have been 2 of our all-time favorite bartenders, even after just 1 visit. Laid-back, friendly, fun and genuine are the best ways to describe our time with them. Our drinks were clever and fun. We had 4 total: Smoked Old Fashioned, Arcadia, Firing Squad, and Passion of the Fin. The 3 drinks were fun, different, and tasty. Our biggest surprise during our visit was the cleanliness of the restroom. That may not be important to some, but is certainly appreciated by all.
