We are new to the area and had heard that this was a place that we must put on our list. So I made a reservation and I strongly suggest that because it was packed when we arrived. The establishment is so nice and the decor is very relaxing. The host greeted us immediately and gave us some nice compliments also. We were escorted to our seats and server Tatum was there waiting. She introduced herself and told us a little about the restaurant and what they specialize in. She told us about the specials and took our drink order. We ordered the savory bread pudding Benedict and the Bonita's lobster roll both came with hand cut Parmesan truffle fries. Let's start with the bread pudding. Wow, isn't your ordinary bread pudding. If you don't like bread pudding, you will love this one! It starts with a special type bread they make and thick cut bacon is baked all through it. Then it's topped with a poached egg with a special hollandaise sauce. Every bite was full of flavor and I hate I ate it so fast. The lobster roll was so tender and buttery. The roll was fresh a little toasty just enough for a little crunch when you bite. The fries, I never had hand cut fries that taste so good. The fresh Parmesan cheese and truffle oil took them over the top. They really take time to pay attention to detail. If you haven't eaten here yet, you must put this one high on your list. We had an absolutely fantastic dinner at George Bistro last night--what a gem in Pensacola! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was welcoming and upscale-casual, with great energy but not stuffy at all. We started with the ricotta fig and pear appetizer, and oh my goodness, it was incredible--creamy, sweet, tangy, and perfectly balanced. Such a fresh and creative dish! For mains, my partner had the chili citrus glazed duck, and it was cooked to perfection: crispy skin, juicy meat, and that glaze brought such bright, zesty flavors that paired beautifully with the sides. I went with the cobia almondine, and it was one of the best fish dishes I've had--perfectly seared, flaky, with the brown butter, almonds, and charred lemon elevating every bite. The cauliflower purée underneath was silky and delicious. We couldn't stop at just dinner--we shared a few desserts (the variety was tempting!), and everything was spot-on: rich, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. Great restaurant overall, definitely one of our go-to spots for brunch or celebrating something special. The service is solid, the vibe feels upscale but relaxed, and the food never disappoints. I knocked off one star strictly because of the pricing. I understand it's a premium experience and expect to pay more, but the portion sizes could be more generous for what you're spending. We came here for Valentine's Day and have no regrets. We ordered two Sazerac cocktails, bottled water, the heirloom tomato + burrata, bone marrow, and the pomegranate grilled lamb chops. Everything was delicious. That said, the total with tip came out to about $185, which felt a bit steep considering the portions. The lamb came with three chops, and the bone marrow had three pieces, though one was pretty small, so more like two and a half. Our favorite of course is the Carpaccio a thinly perfect slices of filet Mignon layered on a plate with a beautiful arugula salad with large shaved Parmesan, picked onions, watermelon radishes, tomatoes, scallions, white truffle horseradish aioli and aged balsamic. My family and I absolutely loved our brunch at George this morning! We sat on their beautiful covered patio (which also had heaters around for colder days). Everything we ate was very good. We started with the chef's special pear tart, and it was a much more savory dish than we were expecting, but it was delicious. The avocado power bowl and smoked salmon tartine were my personal favorites, and my sister is bias to the bread pudding benedict. There were so many other dishes on the menu that sounded great, they truly have something for everyone. Next time, I'd want to try one of their many specialty coffees- we saw a few tables drinking them and they looked great. Our waitress was attentive and super nice, but I think it was a bit overkill to have her recite every detail about all of the specials. It was too loud on the patio that it was hard to hear, and there were so many specialty dishes and details that we forgot most of what she said by the end. Pretty good ambiance. Food was ok, our overall experience was not worth the price. When I made reservations I indicated it was a special occasion, the waiter asked if it was a special occasion and I informed him that it was, it seemed everyone just wanted to know for no special reason. There was no acknowledgment at all. While efficient, our waiter never smiled or made any small talk with us. We ate here after my friend's graduation ceremony. I see why she chose this place; our experience lived up to all the good reviews. I love that George's changes its menu with the seasons. The sweet potato horchata is delicious. Sweet potatoes & horchata are two of my favorite things, so I was excited to try it! It was delicious & I finished it before we even got our entrees. It's like sweet potato pie in a cup. I asked for it without the alcohol & it was still a hit. So good. This pasta was some of the best I've had in a while. The noodles are made in-house & I enjoyed how flavorful the sautéed mushrooms are. I asked for blackened shrimp & while they were a bit salty, they complemented the dish overall. I wish I still lived in the area because if so, there are other drinks & dishes I would've tried, such as the apple cider matcha & short rib ravioli. The restaurant is also well-decorated & our server was warm & nice, but service was slow at times. I ran out of water & waited about 10 minutes for more. Went for brunch and it was my first amazing visit. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I get fantastic service and real chef made food made from great ingredients in Pensacola because there are so many places that just don't give a damn here when you're not downtown or East Hill. George is the exception. It turns out the founders are originally from New York so that makes sense. The restaurant looks like an old house that was turned into a restaurant right on ninth Avenue. I went to college here but I can't remember what was here but I think it was some sort of an eye establishment previously?? Either way, I'm glad George took its place! Anyway, it's super cute with a wraparound porch and outside seating. We sat inside and the hostess put us in a nice quiet corner. Our server was delightful. She described everything deliciously and I wanted almost everything she offered, but I'm trying to lose the 20 pounds I've gained since I became a nomad, so I opted for the coastal omelette that she said was her fave and I was already eyeballing. It certainly didn't disappoint. It was STUFFED with blue crab meat. They didn't scrimp!!! it also contained blackened shrimp, but you could really see the crab! The green sauce wasn't too heavy; perfect so that you can taste all ingredients. Not overpowering, just complimentary. My husband got the lobster Benedict and it was equally fabulous. We ended up sharing so I got one of his Benedict and he got half of my omelette. This is the first time in Pensacola that I got an eggs Benedict that was done perfectly! French technique for sure! Everyone else here, including chains like First Watch makes eggs Benedict too runny and when you ask for a medium, they overcooked the yolk. George does it right!! This is probably my new place for breakfast when I have to be in Pensacola. So before we got our mains HubbyStanks got a fall feels drink called "get figgy with it." We ordered the crispy artichokes, the duck, & the lamb chops. Huge shoutout for the complimentary birthday tiramisu & thank you to the staff for making it a special evening! Quality of the food was definitely fine-dining level! The duck & lamb was cooked and seasoned perfectly & the flavors & textures of each dish complemented each other extremely well. I will say even though we expected smaller portions, they were smaller than what we would have liked given the price range. If they had added one more piece to each main item on the dish, it would've been more proportionate. Overall, still recommend for a special night out! I found this restaurant through yelps top 100 date night restaurants. We were in town for a business training so we were so excited to come. Jerold Hall said he knew the owners as well so we knew we were in good hands. The food was just exquisite and so were the service and drinks. I would say the dress code is more casual but the food is elevated and well balanced. We told the waitress at the beginning of our dining experience it was our first date night in a while and they even brought us a dessert to take home with a board that said date night with hearts. Visited this quaint restaurant in Pensacola that offers both inside and outside seating. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the hostess and they seated us immediately. Service was pleasant. Our waitress who shared the daily specials and was attentive ensuring our drinks were full. The food was delicious! The best part were the pomegranate lamb chops both tasty and fall off the bone meat. My only recommendation is the improve the lighting. We ordered everything from the coastal omelette, brunch burger, steak and eggs, shrimp and grits, short rib mac and cheese, and lobster eggs benedict. Everything got great reviews; some dishes could have used a bit more seasoning, but definitely tasty overall. The drinks were on point as well. The Blood Orange Margarita was the table fave. A "Sweet Potato Bisque" was other-worldly! So flavorful and fresh. Followed that with Heirloom tomatoes and Burrata was served beautifully and gave the name "heirloom" a new meaning for us! Every time we have been here, we've had outstanding world-class food and service! ...and yesterday (Easter Sunday after church) was no exception! Our server, Thomas, was outstanding and everything was great! We had the cheeseboard for an appetizer and then my wife had the Cobia; I had the tuna and my daughter had the veggie omelette and truffle fries. This place is way overpriced. Not pictured is the highly recommended short rib plate. I don't know if it's the Demi glace or the short rib that puts off a dog food aroma/taste. It got my wife sick. I ordered the filet. This was flavorless. I had to ask for a salt shaker to get some flavor out of it. It was also a low quality cut of steak. The fingerling potato's were awful. I don't know what chef thinks fingerling potato's are desirable side for a steak. They never have a good flavor. It's just a substance that can be satiating, I feel like. Because I had to wait on our server for a salt shaker, my steak did get cold. That being said, I do think our server was actually very good. It was just apparent they were quite busy. The 1 star does not reflect the service - it's strictly the quality of food for the price point. Also, this restaurant is incredibly loud. If you're on a date night, skip this place and go elsewhere, the only way to communicate is to yell at each other. Based on the reviews we were very excited. We had 1400 reservations and quickly seated in the back outside the kitchen, loving the ambiance and aromas wafting our way. Cynthia loved the Pistachio & Honey Cream Soda and we devoured our individual Carpaccio, savoring every single bite. We shared the Alfredo Pappardelle adding the Braised Short Ribs and so glad we did! Absolutely delicious, so succulent and flavorful with the caramelized wild mushrooms, parmesan and earthy white truffle oil. After such a wonderful Birthday Dinner, our server treated Cynthia to a decadent slice of Chocolate Cake on a decorated plate and I savored every bite of the Pumpkin Creme Brûlée. The food service was perfectly timed. The house wine was delicious. We ordered the crispy artichokes with dill jalapeño sauce. The artichokes were lightly crispy and very tender. The sauce was light and flavorful. Grandson had the GL burger with Parmesan truffle fries. The dipping sauces were delicious and love the variety of flavors. His burger was cooked perfectly. I had the crab cakes. Truly some of the very best I have ever had and although it's an appetizer on the menu it was plenty as my main course. The crab was so fresh and sweet. We shared the pumpkin crème brûlée which was perfectly balanced. Not too sweet. It had heavy whipped cream on top with candied pecans and pumpkin seeds on top. I went here with my bf for a nice dining experience and to do an early anniversary celebration while on our vacation. When we went here it was pretty busy for a Wednesday evening, which was surprising given that it was a school night. We were greeted immediately and seated immediately. I will say I had a reservation, and one may not have been needed during the week but most likely would be needed on the weekend. The ambience was very eclectic and rustic which I liked. We sat in a booth, which in hindsight being that the booth is completely wood, I would probably do just a regular table. Our server, I believe her name was Jill, was great. She was very knowledgeable regarding the menu and she did a great job explaining the nuances of the items on the menu. I ended up starting with the endless summer margarita and my boyfriend got the son of a peach. The summer margarita was good but it had a lot going on which is to be expected if you read the description. I tried my boyfriend's drink and honestly I'd probably go with that if I were to go back. As an appetizer we got the cheese board with charcuterie. The arrangement was cute but honestly, I was underwhelmed. For the price point, I expected more variety of meat and cheese or just a bigger serving size. It was served with bread and I would have preferred crackers. However, what was provided was fresh and tasty. For our main dishes, I got the filet mignon and my bf got the ribeye. Both of our steaks were 10/10 delicious, my sides of potatoes and asparagus were delicious as well. My bf did not like the fries because they lacked seasoning. I also got an espresso martini and my bf got a burnt old fashioned. The espresso martini was good and strong and my bf felt the burnt old fashioned was a decent old fashioned in his words. We also were surprised with a Happy Anniversary slice of cake, which was much appreciated. I will also say the acoustics could be better because it got pretty loud in there when we first arrived. We were very excited to try this place as it has a really cute happy hour patio. The several times we went for happy hour, the service was always horrible. BTW: This is a "see and be seen" place, they run it like they are all on Facebook together in their own little bubble world. So, we thought lunch would be better. So, one day we decided to go for lunch, and the food & lunch service, was even worse. We both ordered fish sandwiches & fries. I also got a side salad. The side salad was literally 4 leaf's of lettuce. What a rip off. And my fries were ice cold. So I ask for new fries. And, BTW, they serve "curry ketchup" with the fries automatically. We did not like the "curry ketchup" so we asked for regular ketchup & they got all snooty about it. If I want "Curry ketchup" with my fries, I will go to India for that, not George Bistro just FYI. Eventually they brought out new fries but we were done eating as the fish sandwiches were extremely bland, under seasoned & WET & COLD by then. The fish sandwiches were also served on the wrong kind of bun, so it was just a soggy mess. A total fail. We both ate the pieces of fish & asked for our check. Then, as if it couldn't get any worse, the waitress apparently saw no issue with the fact that we didn't eat any of our food, but wanted to know if we wanted to take the cold fries & "curry ketchup" home with us.
