This was a cute spot in Pensacola. I came here with my Family who is very picky and sometimes they can embarrass you in a restaurant. I was glad they were just as happy as I was with the presentation and taste of the food. I ordered a combo which consist of fried catfish and fried shrimp. The catfish was nice and crispy and so were the shrimp. Both were seasoned pretty good and tasted really good. The hush puppies and corn fritters were also really good, I wish they had more than one corn fritter with the combo. I ordered a mai tai and I was not a fan of my drink. The mixture was way off. I should have stuck with a basic drink or a glass of wine. Overall, I had a great experience at the shrimp basket. The waitress was extremely nice and had a lot of patience. I spent 27$ on bad food. Ordered red beans and rice, got gumbo. Ordered shrimp po boy, bread so stale couldn't eat it. Since I ordered through Door Dash I had to go through them not Shrimp Basket for a refund. It was all on the restuarant not Door Dash. New to the area and stopped in because I was craving steamed shrimp. I didn't get the waitresses name but she was working her butt off as she was handling all the tables. Kudos to her for having a positive attitude and still attentive to each guest. I downloaded the app and got a free queso and chips. That wasn't my favorite but wasn't there for that. The shrimp and crab legs were amazing. The corn was lacking flavor but some salt fixed that . The fries were a little soft but still enjoyed a few. Skipped on the coleslaw since it wasn't cold. Just had dinner with our buddy skipper on the patio. Let me say that I highly recommend this place. Let's start with Anna R. our server. She made sure skipper our puppy was comfortable, got a heater working because on this day it was about 56 outside... she recommended some items as we explained that we are returning to CA by car and while we we're here last week on our way to PSL, we opted to visit upon our return home. Wifey had the redfish.... Loved it. I had the country cowboy... smash burger. Mowed that down.... Ok skipper had some. I also had onion straws, which I found unique and flavorful, and she had the fish dip. Something we have discovered while here. The margarita was tasty. Beer is cold. Could not ask for better food or service. But seriously, it's starts with the warm greeting and kind service. We lucked out finding this spot. I moved from New Orleans about 10 years ago and have, unfortunately, been unable to make it back since. I had yet to find a good bowl of gumbo since. Likely my last visit to the Davis Hwy location. Had a bad experience prior, gave another try tonight with a take out order because we have always had a great experience. We'll, tonight shown me they are falling apart. I rordered popcorn shrimp basket, got whole shrimp. Ordered a cheese grits side, what I got was by far the worst example of a cheese grits EVER! I ordered the fried oysters, my husband ordered the mahi-mahi. Both entrees were great, as were the sweet potato fries. Regular French fries were awful, lukewarm and limpy. Order the sweet potato fries (I meant to but didn't!) as they were perfect! Had key lime pie and funnel cake fries for dessert. Definitely would order the funnel cake fries over the key lime pie, but thought I'd try since we were in Florida and all. Service was good, and the interior was decent, just not SUPER clean, though not a dirty place either. My wife and I stopped in today (Sunday afternoon) and got take out. Mistake number 1! That's because we got down the road and realized just how horrible the food actually was! I got the grouper sandwich, which had the fishiest taste I've ever experienced. I literally had to spit it out. My wife got the seafood platter. Her fish also tasted extremely fishy! The oysters were like mush; to the point it made her gag!. We are just praying we don't get food poisoning, as we are traveling several hours today. I don't know if their freezers are bad, or if it was bad food. But we couldn't eat it. We spent $54 for food that we literally gagged on and threw away! To say we are displeased is an understatement! My husband and I frequently come here for lunch. I've tried almost everything on the menu and I really can't say that I found anything that I didn't like. I must say the corn fritters, fried pickles and deep fried onion strings are one of my guilty pleasures. The price point and service is exceptional if you get the right server. We are hoping SB keeps the wings & shrimp tacos on their menu! Our server, Madison, was definitely a class act!! She was so friendly, knowledgeable of the new items on the menu as well as very prompt with drink refills. My friend was here visiting from another state. She and I decided to grab something to eat before heading to the airport. We decided on Shrimp Basket over Bubbas. We were greeted immediately by a wait staff. Once seated our server, I believe I was told her name was and Alicia, took out drink order and disappeared. After sitting for 10 minutes we decided to leave. I asked one of the servers for our bill to pay for the lemonade. She than asked why were we leaving. I explained how our server never returned to our table. I believe her name was Natalie N asked us to stay and she will serve us. Glad Natalie saved the day! The food was delicious! We ordered two take out meals yesterday. The seafood platter was so greasy one could see a good amount of grease lying in the bottom of our plate. The oysters were so bitter we threw them out. The food tasted like it had been in a warmer all night. The staff was friendly and pleasant. The restaurant appeared clean. Years ago, the food was delicious, and it was a real treat to dine there.
