6.5/10 - old family diner with good southern food I thought all the food was super flavorful, and we all came home with leftovers. Their breading was A+. Really enjoyed the fried chicken! And tried fried squash which was actually pretty good. IF you like chicken gizzards and livers, my friend said they do them right. The gizzards aren't too tough which is apparently a problem. Everyone was very nice, but it was a little bit slow.

Before hitting the road back to Birmingham , we decided to stop here for dinner. Their menu is massive which made it hard to decide just what to order. I knew I wanted seafood so that helped to narrow down my choices. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner with coleslaw and fried okra as my two side items. The meal also came with hush puppies. I absolutely loved their hush puppies! My sister ordered the fried catfish dinner and my mom ordered the bite size shrimp dinner. We got our food to go since we were needing to get on the road. This might have not been the best idea as I feel the food would have been more enjoyable dining in. We still enjoyed our food , nonetheless. All of our meals were prepared fresh and the portions were HUGE! I forgot to mention that I also ordered a small gumbo..... I wasn't crazy about it so I didn't eat all of it. Like I said , we all enjoyed our dinners but next time I will request my shrimp to be fried hard. Otherwise , the seafood was really fresh tasting! This restaurant offers daily specials and even has some all you can eat options. Which is in addition to their already vast menu. All of the staff were extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed before heading back to bham. I really enjoyed the homestyle feel of this restaurant and would visit again if in the area. They seem to be very popular!

Good food to go! This place is so close to home and we haven't eaten here just because it's not "new and exciting" but this is proof places don't have to be. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Very good southern fried chicken plate!

Stopped by Neighbors tonight for dinner. The restaurant has spacing appropriate during the pandemic. My husband had the oyster dinner and I had the popcorn shrimp dinner. My popcorn shrimp dinner was delicious. The oyster dinner was over fried. A disappointment for sure. All sides were delicious!!

Smothered liver and onions with rice and gravy and black eye peas.

I like Zaxby's…read more This isn't my first time here, but it was my first time trying this Fried Chicken Philly. After working all day, I was quite hungry, and decided to eat here after picking up and delivering an order from here. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and unlike other places in the area, they seem to enjoy what they're doing. They're always pleasant to deal with. That Fried Chicken Philly caught my eye on the menu when I was doing my pickup, so I knew that was what I wanted. I ordered and seated myself in one of the small two person booths in their well-lit, ultra clean seating area. I poured myself an Arnold Palmer, trying to gauge the perfect mixture of ice, lemonade and tea. I succeeded magnificently. It wasn't long before my food was ready, and I was digging into it. When I opened the container, the sandwich was bigger than what I expected it would be. Since my doctor put me on the Ozempic diet, my appetite has been less than half of what it used to be, so I was almost sure this was going to be divided between late lunch and dinner. But as soon as I bit into that thing, I knew there wouldn't be anything left for later. The peppers and onions were seasoned just right, and were grilled to perfection! The bun was also grilled to it was crisp without being dry, and the chicken was simply juicy, crisp, and quite tasty. I tried one of the fries, and it was also cooked and seasoned to perfection. I have to limit carbs, so I rarely eat more than a fry or two, but it was a good fry. I'll definitely come back here. Like I said, it wasn't my first time, and this definitely won't be the last. Of the Zaxby's locations in our area, this is definitely the best one. A perfect experience.

This review is for the Bojangles location at the Love's Truck Stop west of Mobile Alabama…read more It seems I'm out on this end of town a lot lately, in fact, this entire week, I ended nearly every night out that way. And after driving around town all day, sometimes I just want to go to the most convenient place on my way home. And this is how I tried Bojangles. I'm a big fan of good fried chicken, probably more than my doctor thinks I should be. There's just something quintessentially American about fried chicken that takes me back to a simpler time in my life, and it's most likely that notion that drives my opinion of fried chicken in general. Since moving to the Deep South, I've tried all kinds of fried chicken, and I have certain opinions about my favorite chicken, and strong opinions about whose chicken is absolutely not good. So I walked into Bojangles, and for the record I'd tried them before, but there was quite a line and I almost skipped it altogether, but then I'd have to stop somewhere else, and I was already out of the car, so I settled on being there despite what looked like it could be a long wait time. The place was not dirty, but it definitely wasn't clean either. The soda machine area was a complete disaster and the tables and floor looked like they hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. But they seemed to be quite busy, so I could partially forgive that. I waited in that line for the better part of twenty minutes before I got to the counter and had my order taken. Again, I can partially forgive that, because they were busy. What isn't forgivable was that the crew seemed entirely uncommitted to their job and that they seemingly had no ability to work as a team to get it done. When they took my order, I ordered a three piece meal with a biscuit, Mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes, with a lemonade to drink. Easy, right? You would think so. But I waited easily another 20 minutes for my food, and when I checked it, they gave me someone else's food, and had given my food to them. So they remade mine, which took another five minutes. But they're busy and things happen, right? So they give me the correct order and all I'm thinking about is that home is still twenty minutes away, and that I should be there by now. So I take my food and I go, because I'm just ready to be home. Now, I know I have a twenty minute drive to get there, and I get home as soon as I can, and when I do, I gather my food and other things in the car and go into the house. I take a quick photo of this food for the review, and sit down to eat. I look at the three pieces of chicken they gave me, and they must have been the smallest pieces in the batch. There wasn't a lot of meat on them. And I remember that their chicken had somewhat of a kick to it, but this was a lot spicier than I remembered it being. I have stomach and blood pressure issues, so I tend to avoid spicy food for the most part unless I find myself in Santa Fe eating Chile Releno. (If you know, you know.) The biscuit was hard and barely edible, the Mac & Cheese was dry and didn't have a lot of flavor, and the potatoes were okay, but clearly an instant variety instead of the real deal. (The gravy was pretty darn amazing, I must admit.) If the twenty minute drive home diminished the quality of this food, then that's on me, but I have a feeling based on other factors that the experience would have been sub par either way. Maybe it was just an off day for them, or maybe it wasn't. Who knows? But I'm not sure I'll be trying this location again. The whole experience just didn't sit right with me.

Not sure who else in Tillmans Corner has wings, other than the newly owner swapped Beefs with the super attitude owners now, eliminating them from my options. I suppose if I want bone in wings this place will do. If I need boneless there is a finger place around the corner that is just fine. It would be a better experience if they had customer seating. So, I bought lunch here because my wife loves their wings. She always gets this dry rub because she's on a carnivore diet. She loves those wings. I am on no such diet, so I sampled a few things. I tried some boneless wings, some with garlic Parmesan and some with some Asian sauce, a couple tenders with Mexican street spice (which was weird at first but grew on me pretty quickly), and some Louisiana voodoo fries (which I thought were unremarkably plain). It was pricey, and I waited way too long for my order, and had to eat it in the car. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it doesn't impress me either.

It is heading and shoulders above competitors like Subway, Firehouse Subs and ithers and I think it bears mentioning that since I travel a lot for work, I appreciate the consistency from location to location. This can only be attributed to the excellent training they give to their franchisees. I placed an order for delivery through the app and it was delivered at the promised time. The location itself has the similar ambiance of other Jersey Mike's. I had their Big Kahuna cheesesteak and it was good. This is one of my go-to sandwiches. The other would be their Italian. I would definitely recommend this particular Jersey Mike's.

Younger me would have gone with salami, sausage, or something with a little more kick, but older me likes a little less spice. So I'm always searching for a great cold sub in my area, and since we don't have Port of Subs, I have been experimenting with Jersey Mike's. I pick up food there quite often when I'm working, and the staff is friendly and fantastic to work with. They always have the order ready, and are always cheerful and in a good mood. The place is always clean, well lit, and quiet, even when it's busy. It always seems cozy and inviting when I come in. So recently, I made it a point to have lunch there, and gravitated toward the roast beef and provolone sub. I looked at the sizing chart, and decided that the giant size might be a bit much, and so I opted for the regular. Now, unlike other sandwich places who pre-portion their meats and cheeses, I absolutely adore that everything is freshly sliced specifically for your sandwich, and they seem particularly generous with the portions, which is definitely a bonus. A good sandwich should always be thick enough to be a challenge to consume, and Jersey Mike's doesn't disappoint in that manner. That being said, every single thing on my sandwich was absolutely fresh and full flavored, from the mayo, to the onions and tomatoes, both of which were crisp and delicious. The roast beef is hearty, and well balanced with a great taste, the bacon is crisp and not overly salty, the provolone also has a very good flavor and gives the sandwich that little extra something. I paired this sandwich with an Arnold Palmer, because I've become quite adept at mixing iced tea and lemonade. Turns out this complements roast beef quite well! I've had this for lunch a couple times now, and it's filling, tasty and worth every penny. There is a possibility that this will be my new go-to cold sandwich, and I'm sure I'll be having it again soon. I can't wait!!
