Breakfast burrito with sausage, egg, cheese, and hash browns, no green chilies, added bacon
Greg B.

As you can see by my previous review, I wasn't impressed at all by my only other stop at Ivee's. I decided to give them another chance when I learned that they have a breakfast burrito. I ordered one for pickup to go without green chilies and added bacon inside. The menu on their website as of 12/24/2021 states that their breakfast burrito has sausage, egg, and cheese in a grilled tortilla and comes with salsa, sour cream, and hash browns. A picture of the burrito that I saw on social media, though, looked like it had hash browns inside the burrito instead of on the side like the menu implies. The first thing I did when I called was ask what actually comes in it because the information I had was contradictory. Apparently the burrito comes with sausage, egg, cheese, hash browns, and green chilies (which aren't mentioned at all on the online menu) all inside it. Quite different from the online menu description. I received a side of salsa but didn't receive the sour cream. I wouldn't have used it anyway so I'm not mad about it, but again, yet another thing that's different from the online menu. The tortilla wasn't grilled at all and was only warm because of the contents inside. They added a good amount of bacon inside, to the point where it overshadowed the sausage. It's not my favorite breakfast burrito, but it wasn't bad. It would be my pick if I HAD to go to Ivee's again, but Town 9 Tap in Richfield and Kurt Schultz Deli in Brown Deer aren't too far of a drive for breakfast burritos that I prefer.

Alright not really in the mood to overanalyze everything here, kinda is what it is in this case. I've eaten at Ivee's 3 or 4 times in the past few years. No complaints on the service and the food's usually good. I like their Eye Opener Burger...fried egg with bacon and American cheese on top. I've never tried it, but their brunch menu definitely looks on point. One of my friends pointed out this is the only place we've ever known to substitute toast for pancakes....UNHEARD of, right?! Also like to point out that this place seems to have a ginormous 4 page menu so likely to find something for everyone. The atmosphere is that of any laid back bar. There's a horseshoe bar surrounded by tables and booths around it. There were a couple families and some younger people alike dining or just drinking. Anyhow, seemed like an acceptable place to bring children (stopped in during lunch last Sunday), but I'm unsure of the night crowd.

Remember when local places had these paper ads on the tables? Yep, old school and digging it.

Staff is friendly, but the food is mediocre. They don't use fresh food, a lot of it is obviously heated up frozen food.

You know I love a good hidden gem…read more Old Germantown is just that. We were in the general area-ish doing some shopping and wanted to get some pizza for takeout some place closeby to enjoy at home while watching the Olympics (because it's in Italy--so pizza seemed like just the thing). A search on Yelp brought up this place as somewhat closeby. It was after dark when we went in search of it. We drove down a rural road past what appeared to be a driveway that led to a farm. This can't be it. We tried again. Navigation brought us to the same driveway. My husband was ready to give up. I decided to call the business. A kindly gentleman answered and said--yep! It will look like you're driving to a farm but we're here! As we got closer to the end of the drive we saw a bustling parking area. While it might be hard to find--the people have found it. And, so did we. We entered to find beer hall vibes with tons of communal seating. We asked if we could order to go which they were more than willing to accommodate. We found a couple bar stools at their bar, ordered our salads and pizza, and then enjoyed a couple of stout beers while we waited. The beers, salad, and the pizza straight from their wood fired pizza oven were all fantastic. We got one of their specialty pizzas which was a white pie that comes with ricotta (as well as mozz) mushrooms, and basil on a crust that has just the right amount of chewiness and char. Lovely! The folks working here were above-and-beyond friendly. And, one told us that they have a large outdoor patio during pleasant months. We will definitely be back during the pleasant months. And, let's be real--during the less than pleasant months as well. Get to it!

Upon driving in there is a building for the restaurant along with nice outdoor seating, and area for kids to play! We went in mid May on a sunny but cool evening. The kids loved having the sand area and toys to play with while waiting for dinner to arrive. They have a good menu, but there seemed to be a decent amount of items unavailable especially the sausages my friends wanted to try. We ended up with the spring pizza, sassy pig, a plain cheese, and then a three combo of sausages. I thought the pizza was all good, not the best I've ever had but solid. The spring pizza was my favorite. The sassy pig was very unique but good! Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the sausages but others in my group liked them. We upgraded that to include fries and there was only a very small amount. We will definitely be back, seems like a great spot for groups!

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!

This was at lunchtime when it wasn't very busy at all. I started to think they had actually forgotten about the order. There was also a pesky fly that just wouldn't go away. When the food came, it was pretty good. The thin crust pizza was very tasty and loaded with toppings. And the Greek salad, which came well after the pizza, was great. Fresh lettuce, Kalamata olives, tomato, feta and abundant Greek dressing on the side. We ordered the $4.95 protein-shrimp on top. Asked for them grilled and they came out beautifully. Correctly grilled and tasty. Large jumbo shrimp, a whopping 9 of them on top of a small salad. I'm guessing they may have been frozen, which is why it took so long to make the food. And perhaps they gave us extra since we waited so long. But the add on process is the same for either a small or large salad, so that could play a role. Overall, the food was tasty but the wait for it (despite ordering almost immediately upon being seated) was very long. Don't risk it if you're in a rush to get back to work! Will give it another try when we have much time to spare.

We recently decided to explore Germantown and we stopped at Mario's Pizza for a cheese, mushroom, and sausage pizza. We've heard about this place for many years and decided to finally give it a try. My wife went in to order the pizza and two drinks and was told that it will be ready in 20 minutes. 37 minutes later we got our pizza and two drinks. I was extremely hungry and decided to try it in the car, rather than waiting to go to a park or another place to park. The pizza was awful. I have actually invested in a New York pizza restaurant and know good pizza. This is not that. To pick it apart for you, understanding that taste varies among eaters, I will tell you that the crust is dry, flavorless, and essentially becomes a cracker when cooked. I like thin crust, pizza, and I've had many crisp crusts that were good and excellent (Zaffiros on Farwell being a benchmark). This is really not good. The sauce was extremely bland. I like playing sauce, but this was flavorless as if there were no spices in it of any kind. The cheese is good. It's a stringy mozzarella. that is the saving grace of the pizza itself. The mushrooms were flavorless, unseasoned, and dry. The sausage was abysmal. So salty, so inconsistent in size of pieces, and way over spiced. I'm afraid this one is a miss. My wife thinks it was a sold a couple years ago. Not exactly the pizza place I've heard so much about over the years.

In addition to a mint flavor burst ice cream cone I ordered a cheeseburger and wonton mozzarella sticks. The wonton mozzarella sticks are an incredible value given how many you get for the price. Crispy on the outside and had good cheese pull. The cheeseburger, which had a nice flaky bun, had excellent flavor and is one of the better burgers I've had in the area. It made me sad that I hadn't visited Jim's Place before. I wanted the blue goo flavor of flavor burst, but they were out of it that day, so I went for mint instead. It wasn't super strong like I had hoped, but you could taste the mint. I would probably get a different flavor next time (hopefully they have blue goo available at that point). The gentleman that took my order and made my food (who I assume was Jim?) was very kind. I originally ordered to dine in and switched to to-go as he was bringing my food out because of an urgent matter. He boxed it up for me and never once had an issue with the sudden change. Despite the fact the restaurant alone was small and the tables were close together, the staff was friendly and very busy. I really enjoyed how they decorated the walls with nostalgic memories such as the gumball machine, 70's music, beanie baby crane and a lot of "my name is Jim" tags for everyone to remember. I would move the tables out at a little further for people who want a lot of space. Also, there needs to be a parking lot made behind or next to the restaurant so that no one will have to parallel park and walk there. I would definitely recommend this place for anybody who loves delicious food at great prices.
