I always enjoy dinner at Ivan's when I visit Salisbury. I usually order the filet and cold steamed shrimp or the botta bing (sp?) shrimp. My steak has always been prepared as ordered and is wonderful and tender! I'm from Florida and shrimp is one on my favorites. I don't think I have tasted shrimp any better in Florida as I have at Ivan's. Just delicious! The service is always attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and casual yet, nice and romantic. I've traveled all over the United States, and I've eaten a lot of steaks. The ribeye I had here was, by far the best I've ever eaten. Very tender and cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong with a restaurant that tells you if you order a steak medium-well or well done, they can't guarantee the quality, and it essentially ruining the steak. The atmosphere could use some updating, but I don't go to a restaurant to be inspired by the decor. I go for a great meal, and at Ivan's I was not disappointed. read more

Went on a Saturday night without a reservation. We were told 30 -40 minute wait even though we saw numerous open tables. We were seated after an hour wait at a table that had been open during most of our wait. After 20 minutes at the table my husband went to the hostess to let her know we had not seen a server. Within a few minutes a server came apologizing that there was a mix up as to who was serving us. She took our drink order (only 2 out of 4 ordered a drink) which took over 15 minutes to get. She brought bread but told us they were out of butter. (How does a restaurant run out of butter? Can they not go buy some at Food Lion?) When she returned we ordered. My husband and I asked if they still had prime rib and ordered that. Other couple ordered an app, soup and steak. Gentlemen kindly asked for his soup to be hot... and then to make it even hotter. Roughly 30 minutes later (no salads or soup brought yet) we were told they were out of prime rib. So we ordered steak - with same sides previously ordered. By this time we were the only table left on our side of the restaurant and were thinking we should've ordered breakfast. The gentleman's soup arrived- you guessed it - warm. He told waitress when she inquired but decided not to send back. Salads were lettuce, a slice of cucumber, 2 grape tomatoes and one crouton. Our food finally came - it had been over 90 minutes. My husband's baked potato was cold - she brought him a new hot potato. Somehow she was able to bring us butter. Steak was ordered medium rare but was rare (inside was COLD RED). Steaks had a delicious taste tho' not as ordered. Side vegetables were a broccoli mix that was cold. Decor of the restaurant was country rustic meets sports bar - dead animal heads, peanut shells on floor and TVs in bar and our table area. We thought it was unusual that the tables had white tablecloths. We thought prices were high for what we got. Wondering whether they were short of wait staff or just poor organization/ management in kitchen. We inquired about owner/ manager but he never came by. We would not recommend. read more

One of the greatest places to eat in the Salisbury/ Lexington/ kannapolis area. If your looking for a special place to take a love one for a dinner date or want to book a party, Ivan's is the place to go. Everything from steak, ribs, chicken, seafood to duck. Want to catch the game after work and grab a beer with a few friends, Ivan's has a full bar and the bartender Joe is very good at making drinks. Want to jump on Facebook at the bar or have to email an important work document? Ivan's has a computer at he bar and free wifi. The servers are as good as you get in a small town. Very respectful and knowledgeable. Food comes out hot and fantastic every time. There is no reason you should be disappointed in your meal at Ivan's. My I suggest the grilled Italian shrimp and the beer and cheese soup. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. If you have never been there or just passing through town its worth the trip. My wife and I are frequent visitors. She usually has shrimp or the Mahi Mahi, both of which have been excellent. My choice is usually the Prime Rib, and it is so good I seem to be stuck on it. Last night, I decided it was time to try something different, and chose a rack of their Ribs. They were amazing! Slow cooked with a rub, and lightly glazed with a sauce. Besides having a wonderful flavor, they were so tender, that the bones came out clean with no meat sticking to them. I've had some great ribs, all over the Country, and these were among the best. We are also fans of the service. The waiters/waitresses are always courteous and well trained, and we generally feel well taken care of. No, this place is not always perfect, but we find it to be pretty consistent, and overall, is one of our favorite restaurants in the Triad area. read more

First visit for wedding anniversary. Had high expectations. As a Longhorn faithful and Ivans prices being almost twice as much... why shouldn't we expect a lot. Very enjoyable atmosphere and outstanding service. Start off with bread... ok but nothing special... wouldn't melt the cold butter. Salads were fine but again nothing special. The baked potatoes had that greyish look that they were not just out of the oven. Longhorns bread better and loaded baked potatoes better. My husband ordered baby back ribs and they were awful. You could tell that they had been cooked a long while ago... dried out, barely warm and had to be cut with a steak knife just to separate them. Begged my husband to return them. Chili's has better ribs. I ordered the filet medium... it was medium rare. It was certainly a nice steak but a little undercooked for my preference. We have eaten at Ivans several times over the last few years and each time has been outstanding. The servers are awesome and it is so nice to not be rushed through the meal just so they can empty the table out for the next guest. My steak always comes out cooked as ordered. read more

The best prime rib I have had in a long time. We went last night for the first time (milestone BD) and were not disappointed. Reasonably priced for the quality. Shrimp appetizer very good. Twice baked potato was superb. Service was above average (completely full restaurant). Wine list also above average. Two suggestions:. Make the salad course more special (I have had better Caesar salad out of a bag) and fewer but better desserts. Definitely plan on returning... Worth the 35 min drive read more

Owner and employees feel the need to belittle anyone that complains. Will NEVER return. They will probably say good ridance but believe me I will tell EVERYONE I know and they will tell EVERYONE they know about the rude emails and I have received and how the management responds to customer concerns. read more

This is a great "hole in the wall" find in Salisbury, it's been there forever. The food is really tasty, the ribs are fantastic as is the prime rib. My favorite appetizer is the crab dip. Their sides are excellent, favorite one being sweet potato fries. Oh, and let's not forget the bread, warm and toasty, soft on the inside, just right! Make sure to get a piece of strawberry cake with lemon icing for dessert, if you can fit it in. The service here is warm and friendly, attentive yet not obtrusive. It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it for nice occasions, or just beer and a burger on a Friday night. read more

Yes Ivan's is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. These are the best steaks in town, by far. Ours has always been cooked to perfection, each and every time. I love the asparagus and baked potatoes as sides, as they are always cooked perfectly also. The staff is always nice, professional, and very accommodating. I brought my husband to Ivan's for his birthday this month. The food and service were excellent. The scallops were the best I have ever eaten, and he said his meal of filet and grilled shrimp was perfect. We enjoyed dessert, which was delicious. The only meal item I had a complaint with was the crab cake appetizer. It was burned past the point of being "blackened". Good crab cakes should be golden brown and moist. Overall we enjoyed our experience. Our server was efficient and very friendly. A bit pricey for most working people in this area, but not so bad for special occasions. We have been in Salisbury for many years and endulge when we expect perfection. If you want a steak like a steak should be cooked and how a steak should taste,,, this is a must!. OK I must be slipping. This is the second place in less than a month that I've given 5 stars. Thing is they both deserved it. I had been wanting to try Ivans for a while and last night it worked out that I was free and they were open. What can I say? Well just sit back kiddos and listen to uncle rut. The atmosphere was rustic, lots of wildlife photos on the wall, the place was immaculately clean and the staff was cheerful and helpful. Now to the important stuff. We had the baked brie and it came with toasted bread and a pepper jelly. A combination that I wouldn't have thought of, but one that worked perfectly. I love brie and this was really good. So good in fact that I am gonna steal the recipe and use it for someone special in the next couple of days. I then had the onion soup and it was delicious. My dining companion had the beer and cheese soup in a bread bowl and she loved it. I got one (1) bite and it was really good. The salads were exactly what they should have been. Just a salad. They didn't aspire to be the star of the meal. Just nice fresh lettuce, a few croutons and some olives. Then came the best part. I ordered the ribeye and got one of the largest ribeyes at a restaurant in a long time. The steak was cooked exactly like I asked for it. medium rare, not one second longer on the grill than I wanted and the meat was tender and flavorful and just seemed to melt in my mouth. I had a baked potato and again it was a supporting character in the meal. It was perfectly cooked, a feat which seems to confuse so many of the chain steak houses. It came with butter and sour cream on the side, so I could choose how much of each I wanted. Nice touch. Meal pacing was dead on. nothing was hurried and we didn't have to wait long periods between courses either. My companion stated that her steak was the best she had ever had! All in all its gonna be hard to have steak anywhere else. On thing that will keep lots of folks away is price. This is an upscale restaurant and your meal will be 30 bucks or more per person, but its well worth it, especially on special occasions. Don't fo on Mondays unless you have a large group. They are only open on Mondays for groups of 15 or more. read more

We went her for my mothers birthday, seeing Ivans had such great reviews. The website said reservations for 10 or more only and we were 7 so we thought we were safe. We ended up waiting over an hour to be seated. No problem being it was Saturday evening and they were busy. We finally sat down and placed our order. 30 minutes later our salads arrived. The salad was just a basic iceburg lettuce mix, nothing fancy. I expected a nicer looking salad, considering spending $30 plus per person. After another hour, the server came by and apologized for the wait saying the food would be out shortly. It took another 20 plus minutes for our food to arrive. We only had 5 entrees as one party split and another ordered soup. The food was just okay. Nothing worth the hour and half wait. One person ordered the chicken alfredo and the noodles were undercooked. The steaks were luke warm at best and the veggies were cold. The soup was not very warm and was pretty salty. The tuna dish was delayed; the server said they cooked it wrong. My husband went to talk with the owner about the wait (he refused to come over and talk to us; he had to get up to find him), he told us we did not have reservations so we were lucky we were sat. We told him what the website said and he said that we read it wrong. My husband then proceeded to tell him 90 minutes wait for a meal that was just okay was unacceptable. He was told if we wanted the lonestar experience then we should have gone there. Then my husband says we could have eaten at Del Friscos or Ruth Chris's quicker than we had service here and he called him a liar. He then told my husband the only reason our food was delayed was because the cook had to go to the local grocery store to purchase product to complete the order. We told him the server said it was miscooked and he said the server was just kissing your ass. Then when we showed him the website about reservations, my husband was told Oh I guess that needs to be changed. No apologies for us being there 3 hours or any solution offered. We were first time guests and we would not eat here again or suggest this place to anyone. We were highly disappointed and honsetly I wish we would have eaten at Longhorn; food would have been better and we would not have been treated so poorly. The owner refunded our credit cards on 2/2. Seems they are trying to make things right. However, i stand by my review as we had a really bad experience. read more

Very good place to eat. Went with a group of 8 people and we did make reservations. Alexandria was our server and she was outstanding. Very large portions at reasonable prices. My only criticisms are that it was very noisy and dark in the dining room. My salad was in need of more dressing(I did not ask for extra) but mainly because the salad was too large for the portion of dressing received. These were very minor issues that didn't detract from an overall outstanding experience. read more

Actually in regards to the children the owner said we were just upset due to the fact there were 2 children with us which was not the case although they were very hungry. We were upset due to the long time it took to get our meals and the cold food. Side note: Calamari was ordered by 1 person as part of their meal and we were told because of that our meal took so long. We took our food to go because we spent $30 per plate and since no solution was offered to us for the cold food and extremely long wait, yeah we took it. The only apology was a sarcastic im sorry your experience wasnt great from start to finish. we had no issue with our server; he was fantastic. as far as comparing to a five star steak house, the ownersaid his place was better and had been open longer. I can assure you that after eating at Del Friscos and BLT steak the same week this place fails in comparison. Also at Del Friscos I was in a party of 30plus and it was a 4 course meal and we all ordered and were served all courses in less than 1 hour 30 mins and we were not rushed at all. And their placed was packed out and our meals were all perfect; not cold and raw. Upcharging $2 for a few pieces of broccoli cooked in the microwave is ridiculous and our table had a valid point. why would you charge more for broccoli than a potato? I hope others who has a poor experience review this place because this nonsense has to end. It saddens me for a place to have good reviews to be so terrible. We had way higher expectations than we should. The owner's comment on NW review is nonsense and all a lie to try to cover up the owners rudness and poor customer care. This place may have been great at one time but its a joke now. I should have known that considering the last review was a year old then two years old, etc. read more
