When we make our trips to Universal Studios my son would ask many times to come here. Since I'm not supportive instilling sugar rushes with my five year old, I would always balk on the idea of setting foot inside. Anyways, I have to admit I like sugar too, especially when you see their store posters outside because they are eye candy. Coming inside the store, it's colorful and you're a kid in the candy store. They have lots of tables of self-serve candy selections, on the walls you'll find candies in bulk packaging. Also on hand jumbo size gummy bears, that I found amusing. Since I like variety, I would do the self-serve and pick out different gummy selections, especially sour, and odd flavor ones like cherry coke, mojito, and strawberry daiquiri. A certain someone who knows I literally live for pineapple gummy bears and have been deeply disappointed by another local candy shop (let's just put them on blast for the f of it; Lolly & Pops Sherman Oaks) has not had their stock in what seems like forever, gifted me 0.43lb ($6.43) of pineapple gummy bears from It's Sugar. I was told they were already a day old from when they were purchased and these were one of the yummiest things I have ever had in life!!!!! They were so super fresh! I cannot stress just how fresh!!! I said "oh my god" over and over and over again as I devoured every single last one out of the bag in one sitting. I've never been to this store and if it's at city walk there's a very high probability that I will never come here but if you happen to be or if I get super lucky in the future maybe I'll be gifted more of these. This is the second candy shop in Citywalk, which is located by Starbucks and Wasabi. This location offers a variety of candy types, brands, themed clothing and accessories to candy or characters, and candy by weight. It's an impressive shop to wander into and it's a must-do for any candy fan. They used to carry large sizes of Hershey's brand candies and I bought the York one as a gag birthday gift for my co-worker, who got a kick out of it. I also found they carried Vosges chocolate, including the sister brand Wild Ophelia. (When the latter did a collaboration with The Hunger Games, I picked up more of the bars to consume that were of various Districts/flavors that I really liked.) Pricing for the candy by weight is a little cheaper than Sparky's, but it's still fairly high. I like that the shop has something for everyone and they seem to carry a bigger assortment than Sparky's or the sections in the park shops. read more

Finally walked in here after looking at their obnoxious posters for years. (Which i don't know how they get away with) I watched an obese family of 3 put enough candy to feed a family of 33 in clear bags, all the while in huge font behind them read ironically "sugar calories don't count". Americans being obese isn't new, but the fact this temptation store even exists is likely killing more people than car accidents. This is a cute and trendy store, but there is a lot to improved upon! A group of us, during the holidays, visited this location for an evening out. I immediately noticed a few things wrong: 1) Absolutely no guest service upon walking in, which would have been awesome! 2) Kids free-handing it into the candy bins, which honestly grossed me out! Instantaneously you're converted to a kid in a candy store. So, basically you have options: pre-boxes items or self-service candy. Pick up a bag and start filling it with hoards of sweets. I will say it's a pricey per pound treat but to be expected given its location. The place also offers candy options for the adult persuasion- candied undergarments, penises, etc. So if traveling with little people, be aware. The place was full. Line was long but went fast. It's Sugar is full of Sugary treats everywhere. This place has tons of candy that is oversized, they have funny prank ones, they have their regular everyday over the counter candies, they have tons of international candies from all over the place, they sell candies that you don't see sold in stores anymore also. When you walk in, the kid in you wants to just grab from left and right and purchase all this sugar goodness, but the adult in you refuses to let diabetes and cavities ruin you haha, so you end up just settling for a few things instead of the whole lot. A lot of their international treats are a bit overly priced versus when you grab these same treats at a local Asian market, but it is to be expected as some people that don't shop at international grocery stores won't know to get their goods there versus here. This store is definitely a nice store to browse around and waste some time at. It's nicely shelved and there's tons of intriguing colors that draw you to this store. This place is really busy and there's constantly people going in and out. This is definitely one of the "go to" places when visiting City Walk. read more

With a name like "IT'SUGAR" you know that you're entering a store that will tempt you in so many ways. This is not your average run-of-the-mill candy store that carries standard size quantities. IT'SUGAR's selection is on a grand scale as they offer much larger boxes of candies. Averaging around $10 per box, you'll find Reese's Pieces, Rice Krispy Treats, or Tootsie Rolls (etc.) that will satisfy the sugar fix of about 5 people in one setting. The store is brightly lit with creative displays within the center of the building. At most stations you'll notice a mannequin wearing a dress, often adorned with candy embellishments or funky patterns. Below each mannequin, placed on a circular table is an assortment of sweets with similar commonalities i.e. chocolate, gummy textures and so on. However given that they are placed in small bin-like containers, you can select the perfect amount at a cheaper price. Just use the scooper to transfer the quantity that you need to a small bag and take them to the cash register to be weighed. Not everyone wants to buy in bulk while sauntering around Universal City Walk! It's more convenient to select an ideal quantity of tasty treats that are reflective of your wants/needs at that time. IT'SUGAR also carries creative items that are "entertaining". If you've ever wanted to don a candy bra or undies, you'll find them here! The small adult themed candy section often makes people chuckle but it's all in the name of fun. Or if you're in the mood for a sucker with a scorpion deep in the center, you'll also find it here. I don't know if the scorpion was real but it seemed authentic when I held it up to the light. If there was an afterlife for sweet tooth lovers (#1), conceivably it would look something like IT'SUGAR. The reality of the store is that it's a haven for candy afficionados and the like. It's one part candy land, another part art gallery. Who knew one could erect statues with just jellybeans and some (sugary) glue? Whatever the sugary vice, IT'SUGAR is more than likely to have it. One can shop for the usual or supersized version of the candies, along with collectibles for special edition candy, be it a random flavor or commemorative packaging. In the end, it's still touristy and retail, which equates to some asinine pricing. Perhaps my fault is not being more of an enthusiast. I can get Reese's Peanut Butter Cups the size of a hockey puck, jelly beans in all sorts of odd flavors (puke? really!?), and t-shirts declaring my love for gummy bears. Best to keep it down before the hipsters buy it all out. But alas, it is in the hell hole of Universal Studios. Candies galore... candies of all shapes and sizes. It's like Sugar Factory but on a grander scale. IT's SUGAR is located in the heart of Universal Citywalk so you can't miss it. They have everything from a Jelly Belly bar to every gummy treat you can think of to even yard long Twix bars. Yup, YARD LONG. That was crazy. I love Twix but damn. Haha. I scored some sour patch apples and pop rocks. I love both. I never see them anymore so it was not only nostalgic but also fulfilled my sweet tooth craving. The Jelly Belly station is insane. There was every flavor imaginable and some I had never heard of. It was pretty cool. You can definitely fill up a ziploc bag of just various Jelly Belly flavs in no time. Because it's in Citywalk, the store was a zoo full of people, especially youngsters. Disgustingly, I witnessed a kid digging into the chocolate covered pretzel barrel with his BARE hands. WTHeck?! Use the tongs lil man! That's what they're there for. Geez! That was gross.... I didn't see enough staff throughout the sales floor. Maybe other lil kids like the bare-handed bandit would be dissuaded from reaching into the candy tubs like that. Just a thought... Came here for the first time and it blew my mind on how huge this candy store is. I thought the one I had back home in Hawaii was huge, this was mega huge and there were all sorts of varieties like all pink Starburst (yuck, puke), giant gummy stuff, giant lollipops, movie themed treats, etc. It is expensive. NATHAN AND GAVO MADE OUR NIGHT! I came to It'Sugar at CityWalk to find a chocolate bar that I had years ago and I maintain is the best chocolate bar I've ever had - a milk chocolate bar with potato chip pieces. Not only were they happy (enthused, even) to help me find it even when they were already busy stocking items, but they also told me about their Reese's peanut butter cups WITH POTATO CHIPS! I was excited to even know it existed, but a little disappointed when another worker told us they were all out on the floor and in the back. I went to pay for my chocolate bar and as I was about to walk away, Nathan runs up and hands me THE REESE'S WITH POTATO CHIPS! He literally went and looked for it even after he was told it wasn't in stock and HE ACTUALLY FOUND ONE! I am so thrilled by how sweet Nathan and Gavo were even towards the end of the night. I even saw them get right back to work immediately after helping us. They're obviously really committed to their work and to delivering the best customer service possible. I totally would've understood if they just wanted to get us out and avoid the extra hassle, but they went above and beyond for me and made a great day SO much better! Even after a fun theme park day, THIS experience was the best part of my whole day. When I have a horrible sweet tooth this place could get me in trouble! They carry lots of my favorite candies. My kids are just as crazy about sweets as I am and 90 bucks of candy in one visit can get us in trouble lol. It's sugar had lots of varieties of candies from super sized, foreign candies, funny political candies, and plain oldies but goodies candies! The only downside to the candy visit was out of control of the company but I was disturbed to see people putting their hands into the buckets. The store itself was really cute but the workers are terrible. I asked one of the workers how many skittle bags are inside the box since it didn't show and he made me feel dumb as if I couldn't read it. It pissed me off and I wanted to go off on him but I just made sure my child got what he wanted and left. Come here for dessert after Hard Rock Cafe. The displays in this store are so well done, it just makes you excited for candy like a kid again. Sure it's a tourist trap with all the novelty items but that's the entire point! It's sugar, it's Hollywood babe. It's like a candy museum, every type of candy and sub-type in between. Looking around with wide-saucer eyes at the variety, all that's running in my mind is the portly, elderly mustached man saying, "DIABEETUS"... yah you know the meme. I found it neat they had different themed sections: imported candy from different countries, sugary treats from Harry Potter (cases of butter beer, but alas no pumpkin juice) and the store's own branded apparel. My friend found gummy candy from Spain that rang up super cheap but I guess it was incorrect, since the sales clerk didn't let him buy another one at that price and hurriedly corrected it. I don't know who makes their bulk Candy but it is not good. Specifically the drug with a "chocolate" coating. I tried the milk chocolate malted milk balls and the chocolate covered almonds. Thumbs down for both. Yuck. The malt center wasn't melt in your mouth. It was crispy in an unpleasant way that just didn't dissolve without vigorous chewing. The "chocolate" itself doesn't have that much in common with what I consider to be chocolate in flavor or texture. Somehow they made it yucky while also avoiding it being waxy which is my usual complaint with bad chocolate. The chocolate covered almonds were redeemed by the almonds but again... chocolate was unsatisfying. I got a chunk of white chocolate too. I'm not mad at it, it was melts, chewed nicely and was basically sugar. But they should cash it something else... it wasn't white chocolate. Not the taste at all. I also bought summer jelly bellys (popcorn and also marshmallow) which were fresh and great. I got some sore bags which I grew tired of quickly. Not thier fault I only needed about 10 I bought about 20. Jordan almonds perfect... a few candy corn which were very fresh... I prefer them stale... I love everything, from the giant Gummi bears and rice krispy treats, to the nostalgic candies, to the kawaii Japanese treats, to the downright "adult" sweets... everything is awesome! Kiddos were drawn immediately to the plush stuffed animals and wall of jelly beans/m&m's. Note - keep an eye on what your kids are looking at... ZERO STARS !!!! He district manager .....today was attacking me and my family. I was asking another worker in the store to take a picture of my son and I . The container to one of the candies was open as I passed my phone to her when I came back .... The district manager was behind me and took it upon herself to close the case and also take the clamp from my hand. As I said to her I'm taking a picture with my son and also getting candy she stated. She said there you go you got your picture now get out. And I said what is wrong with you .... She responded ... It doesn't matter if this candy is open and if a fly touched the candy she had to damage everything . So what are you doing . And I said I'm getting my candy what's is the problem ? She responded so get the candy are you done . ....all with an attitude and closed the candy and told me to get out of her store she is a district manager and she will call security . This woman said after she will give me her business card and then went to the register and never did. She called security. All I wanted was her name and all of the workers refused to give it to me. SHE NEEDS TO BE FIRED !!! There were 7 or more security that arrived And after I left several people approached me that she also did the same to her. read more

If you like candy, this store is more than just sugar.. it's pure, unadulterated happiness! :) Great store on the Universal City shopping strip. Loads of candy, both old and new. If you're into bulk containers of the beloved Sweetarts or Laffy Taffy, you're in business. Every sweet treat you can imagine is for sale here, and the prices aren't too bad. (I was surprised because I was expecting insulting prices considering the location.) Apologize to your dentist, grab your debit card, and take a cruise down candycane lane. I heart this place for a few reasons. I also like this chain since they have some really good candy at their UK locations that I can't get here but that is besides the point. So here is my list of pros and cons. Pros: - Big selection: They have a ton of different kinds of candy in bulk and in packages. Anything from gummy bears, to chocolate, and the M&M dispensers. - Fun: There is a lot to look at in here. There is a massive Jelly Belly Marilyn Monroe at the front of the store. - Staff: Their staff is really nice - It is a candy store!!! Cons: - They are expensive for their bulk. I spent $20 on sour candy which really isn't that much different than if I were to go to Sweet Factory. - Crowded: This is a tourist place because of Citywalk. There are tons of people and all pushy So if I ever need a 5lb gummy bear, 2 lb peanut butter cup, or a sheet of Rice Krispies treats then I'm coming here. read more
