We stopped into Rocket Fizz to get some old-time candy. The store is like a Disneyland for adults! There are tons of candy and novelty candies lining the shelves among other knickknacks and soft drinks made by Rocket Fizz. Some of the soft drinks have very interesting flavors and some are just normal soft drinks. Some are made with real cane sugra which taste super sweet to me, but plenty of people were buying them. Need a gag gift? How about cucumber soda? That flavor was one of the least strange of Rocket Fizz's unusual sodas. They are also known for their salt water taffy in great flavors such as cream soda, mango, passion fruit, and candied apple. Bag up your favorite flavors. It's not sold by the pound but rather as much as you can stuff into the bag to the top. Several years ago I was at another Rocket Fizz and the cashier sent us back to the bin to add more candy after pushing what we had down to make more room. A small bag is $10.99. Once I got home I weighed the bag and it came in as 1.3 pounds. A bit pricey at about $8.50 a pound. Some of the taffy pieces turned out to be a bit hard and stale. One of the best candy stores ever. Sometimes it a walk down memory lane seeing candies i havent seen since i was a kid. Sometimes its just amazing just to see some of the weird stuff they carry. I could stay in this place just looking at all the stuff they have in here. Its almost like a candy museum but you get to eat it all and touch everything. The prices are really outrageous. $4.99 for tiny British candy bars. So many others charge a reasonable surcharge and I can make room for import costs but this is 3-4 times the normal amount. So any joy you may derive from nostalgia or adventure to old or new sweet lands, is mitigated by the crummy spirit of this rip off. Can't support it anymore. read more

Outrageous prices. They have British candy bars, Crunching and Twirls. I buy them at my local grocery store for $1.99 each. At this store, Twirls were $5.00 and Crunchies were $4.00...rip off! I did however buy a box of Japanese candies at $10.99 for my partner, which I know she likes, when I asked the bored looking young girl cashier for a bag, she just put a pink plastic bag on top of the box. SUPER overpriced. They have a great selection but unfortunately, everything is way more expensive than you can find elsewhere. A small bag of Broadway on Wheels black licorice, for example, is $7.50 at this store but $3 at the upscale grocery store in Brentwood. They don't show prices on their items either, so you might be in for a shock at checkout. This candy and soda pop store. They sell all kinds of soda from various parts of the globe along with candy from parts I never even seen. If you are looking for quality authentic british chocolates, look no further. I spent years trying to find them when they were here all along. They even sell chocolates from my all time favorite brand called "Kinder." They are from the same company that makes ferrero rochers so if you like those, then you will definately like this delicious brand. The only downsides is that the candy is on the pricy side and i would also reccomend double checking the expiration dates. I once bought a mexican candy that expired a year ago.... (it was only $1.00 so its ok). Overall if you are visiting westwood, you should definately come in and take a look around. You will most likely end up buying something. read more

This is a fun place to visit if you're in the area and want to check out a place with retro candy and merchandise. There are throw back candies as well as international candies, which I love. They also sell tin signs, metal lunch boxes, and other fun/quirky items that would be great as part of a gift. I purchased their taffy, which was okay. They have a bunch of flavors to select from, which I enjoyed. However, some of their taffy were fresher than others. As far as customer service, I would give them a 3/5. At one point, I was the only person in the store and the woman behind the desk was on a social phone call and did not greet or acknowledge me until I was about to pay. In all honesty, would you give a place that gives EXPIRED CANDY anything higher than one star? My boyfriend and I recently came in, and bought two boxes of candy. As we walked out, we started to eat from one of the boxes. We checked and we realized the box literally says "Best Before 2/09/19".... literally almost 4 months ago lmao. A whole ass UCLA quarter ago. My boyfriend called and asked if he can receive a refund from the place and the guy literally told him there's nothing he can do about it. We happened to be walking thru Westwood Village so we stopped in here. The displays are excellent and it really appears to be a fun place to shop for candy. So we filled a large bag with Salt Water Taffy. Much to our surprise most of it was not fresh. I had one thing in mind walking in here: WATERMELON SODA. If you've gone to Epcot or to another country, you might have tried it. It is absolutely one of the best soda flavors EVER. I had to have a bottle. Since there were literally hundreds of bottles all around the store, I got lazy and walked up to the owner, who was incredibly friendly. I asked, and her cute (daughter? niece?) jumped up to help me find it. Amazingly quick. After I cradled my precious, I walked around the store, like a.. kid in a candy store. For us "normal" people they have normal flavors too: cream soda (strawberry, vanilla, orange, plain), sasparilla, 7-up, coke (Mexican y Americano), and much, much more. There's also a delectable selection of imported British sweeties as well as Japanese candies (Strawberry Cake Kit Kats? HALLELUJAH!) Bottles start at $2.19 with others going up to about $2.79. They have deals if you buy 6, 10, 20, etc. and I immediately thought about getting everyone a flavor as a party favor next time I do something awesome. While just strolling around in the Westwood Village, my family and I came across this wonderful gem of a store! The nostalgic candy, the lively ambience, and the retro music, I was really re-living a childhood dream of mine! I ultimately decided to go with the classic Charleston Chew and Bubble Up soda, which were both very delicious. It's truly a shame to see places like these fading away across the country but it seems that Rocket Fizz is trying it's best to hold and embrace these traditions of the past! This is a cool looking store with a large variety of candy but I have to knock it down to 2 stars for 2 big reasons: 1-The young lady working there was clueless about the products. She did not know prices or where the candy was from and was too lazy to find out just lamely saying europe when I asked what country. 2-The oreo cookie candy bar looked interesting but she told me it was $5(no price tags on the candies)for a regular size 3 oz package. Walking into this shop is like walking in to The Light. '60s music, bright lights, dozens of unique sodas and almost any candy you can imagine! Rocket Fizz has it all! Super easy to navigate, the candy is somewhat divided up by region or type. For example, all the British sweets are in the front right. All the Japanese candies in the center back. All the sour straws are located together, as is all of the saltwater taffy. You're paying a premium here, but then again - you're most likely getting exactly what you want.
