Pretty expensive. It is about 5 dollars for a 1/4 pound, and I recently went to Knott's and got candy from their candy store at Camp Snoopy, and it was only 3 dollars compared to 5. This is a theme park we are talking about, but this is a local mall. When your theme park charges less than your local mall, then you know something is up. They do have a great selection despite it being pretty small; they got lots of gummies and chocolates and a great variety of toy candies and just random candy spread throughout the store. Service is nonexistent here, but I guess you don't really need it; they just check you out and send you on your way. Something seems fishy about that scale, though. I would keep my eye on it. read more

Just visited this store since i was craving candy I'm so happy this store had not closed.. Even though the store is on the smaller side , they still have everything you will want ! Even nostalgia candy ! The woman who helped was really nice and answered any questions i had ... Big plus is the bins are now wrapped in bulk candy ... so the sour belts and all candy look like this pre wrapped (pictured below) which is a huge plus so on one can put there dirty fingers in the bin ...they should have been doing this since before covid ... read more

There is nothing new about this concept, except maybe the prices; indeed, candy shops have been around for hundreds of years. These stores were favorite places for kids to drop a few cents on something sweet, and just about every town, city, or 'burg across the land had a confectioner. The Santa Anita Mall has several stores that sell candy. New guests to this store should familiarize themselves with the five stages of grief, as all will be experienced in rapid succession on your first visit here. It goes something like this: Visitors grab a small bag, then fill it with various sweets from plastic tubs and bins. After placing your bag of treats on the scale, which is weighed by the teenage employee, your face will blanch and your ears will ring a little bit when you hear the price. "That's preposterous! It couldn't possibly be $13 for that little bag of candy!" you might exclaim. This is the DENIAL stage-- a feeling of incredulous bewilderment. The deadpan reaction--or lack thereof--from the worker will quickly move you to the second stage: ANGER. This can manifest differently in different people; some folks mutter and shake their head, others turn red and sweat, a few will even resort to violence and destroy the entire store with their bare hands (aside: I've never been there to witness this, but would love to be there when it happens.) If stage two doesn't result in Mall security being called, then often the third stage--BARGAINING--ensues. This has two primary forms: (1) an attempt to dump the candy out or pick through it, all in an effort to reduce the weight; or (2) trying to negotiate a lower price. The latter is more entertaining, as there seems to be a direct correlation between the likelihood that the negotiator's Prada purse is counterfeit, and the energy spent trying to get the 16 year old part time cashier to make a unilateral decision regarding price-per-pound that is likely set by corporate (or at least management.) If this process takes too long, however, it accelerates others in line directly to stage 2 of the grieving process (anger, Pedro. anger.) Invariably, the cognitive dissonance of making this purchase, combined with either the guilt of looking cheap in front of a date, needing to make it to a movie on time, or just worrying about holding up the line leads to the fourth stage of grief: DEPRESSION. This can last from several seconds, to several days... Depending on many factors like how big the candy bag was, or how tight your jeans are. You know what I'm talking about. Ultimately, visitors to Sweet Factory reach the final stage of the grieving process: ACCEPTANCE. Remember kids, it's only money... Review 70 Who doesn't like candy? Here you find anything you can possible think of, even those high school fun dips! I always walk in to pick up a little of everything and a little extra Wonka for those days we just need chocolate. I don't mind paying a little extra, it's at the mall and I understand they have a very high overhead. I don't deal with the staff other than when paying, transactions are always simple as expected. Plan B I only submit 5-Star reviews, if I post a review it's cause 'hat's off" I recommend the establishment and will return for another experience. I don't feel the need to submit a review with less than 5-Stars, regardless if I check in, submit a picture or tip. Every single time I go to the mall, I HAVE to stop by here and buy filled gummy bears. They're not like the regular gummy bears that everyone eats. These are filled! When you enter the candy store, it's always on the right hand side where all the red colored gummies/candies are. I have no idea what kind of filling is in it, but it's sooo bomb. The filling has a different texture than the gummie itself; it's softer. You MUST try at least one, I promise you won't regret it. Minimum of $5 for credit card! read more

While my sister and niece were visiting LA, I took them to various malls around LA and OC. The first or second place they ended up was...Sweet Factory. These places have mostly bulk candy and all the old favorites you ate when growing up. The ones I like are red raspberries, orange slices, sour patch fruits, chocolate raisins, yogurt raisins, swedish fish, and jelly bellies. Darn that sweet tooth of mines! :P As others have posted, it is pretty expensive for candy and it's about $2.99/lb so don't get too crazy or else you'll end up paying a hefty amount for candy. This place is perfect for those who want variety and want to get one of everything. I always get the sourbelts, ALL kinds of gummy candies, Peach & apple rings! I just love gummy candy and this place has many choices to choose from! I guess many people would try sampling the candy and then just leave after so it's store policy to not try any of the candy. Special chocolate fix for the munchkin... yeah sometimes I give in to her begging and sometimes its at a place like this. Definitely pricey, but it satiates so well. They have a ton of different sugary delectables. None the less the price rates are up there but for a small quantity sometimes it is so worth it. Pro Tip: Ask to weigh your bag after a small portion so that you know what you are getting yourself into before scooping in more! The candy is sometimes stale sometimes not depending on its popularity and storage length. Overall it's a place that is hard to say no to, but you don't want to frequent for either your gut or your wallet! read more

I have no idea where this trash can in disguise is still in business. I must be missing something, because although they only carry overpriced, run-of-the-mill candy, all of their employees are snobby enough to work at a Ferrari dealership. The workers there always have a stick up their asses. Being my naive, hopeful self, I imagined that all the effort of paying an exorbitant amount of money and dealing with pompous employees meant that the candy would be really, really good. In reality, I just paid five bucks for a handful of trash. A lot of the gummies tasted stale. I don't want to know how long they've been in their bins for. I would say that the quality, selection, and service were a thousand times better at Sweet XO, but zero times a thousand is still zero. In general, I absolutely LOVE the Sweet Factory, but this particular store at this mall is pretty sad. Its such a SMALL store with a smaller selection than what I'm used to. (I sound so Sweet Factory spoiled.) I wish they were more generous with their samples, but still doesn't keep me from just adding new sweets to their infamous striped plastic bags. I love the chocolate covered gummy bears, the white ones are not as good, and the ones with the cinnamon bears are bigger & cute, but still not as good. I know I frequent here too much, but have you noticed that if you keep the candies (gummies in particular) start tasting weird. Maybe its just me & my taste buds. I'm becoming part gummy bear? I don't know if its just a Sweet Factory thing but they have these peach candies (not the peach rings) that I haven't seen at other bulk candy places. They're super good... not too sweet not too sour. Candy I believe its $2.99/ lb. They now have a "sugar free" section though its a little more expensive. Candy by the pound! If you don't practice self restraint, you WILL spend a fortune. But if all you want is red gummy bears, red sour patch kids, and the half blue half red gummy worms with some peach rings and strawberry puffs thrown in the mix, this is your place. I think it still beats me buying a whole back of gummy (insert candy type) and eating only the colors I like.... The perfect place to get a quick sweet treat. It's $2.79 per quarter pound which sounds reasonable if you're a picky candy person and if you want one of everything. My personal favorites: -Sourbelts -Chocolate covered gummy bears -*The white chocolate covered gummy bears are a little hard and stale -Chocolate rocks -The chocolate section -Peach rings -Apple rings -Watermelon rings -Sixlets -CREATEtables -etc... too much to list *Be warned: don't buy their packaged items. Too expensive! Over priced. The only thing I did not like were the employees who seem to watch you like a hawk as if you're about to steal something. Sweets are good! We always come here when we are at this mall coz I have 3 kids and adults who love sweets. But today was just a frustration!! Ok 2 stars for the selection and the freshness of the candy. There is nothing better than a fresh peach slice or a fresh cinnamon bear. But, beware the pricing. Fiancé and I came here before watching "Public Enemies" (which wasn't all that great btw). I told him to be careful cuz you end up getting too much and it's way expensive @ $2.79 per 1/4 pound. He says whatever, gets too much, and ends up spending about $14 for a 2 tiny bags of candy. Funny when we were trying to do things cheap. So our movie day ended up costing about $40, when we were only going to spend half that. read more
