I came in with my friend today for a quick treat. We're dancers around the block and a lot of us frequent Pinkberry. This time was a very unpleasant experience however. We walk in, and are greeted as usual. No warning, no nothing, just a regular 'Welcome'. We order (two smalls, thats it.) and I'm going to pay for both of us, I have a gift card. I go to hand the woman taking our orders the gift card to pay. She looks at me funny and states, "oh, our system is down right now, so we're not accepting cards... Do you have any other form of payment?" Um... No. And a very basic rule of customer service is that if a system is down, you let the customer know about BEFOREHAND. Not while they're ordering, and ESPECIALLY not AFTER! Crazy!!! So, I tell her we just won't be able to purchase these, and while I'm sliding my gift card back into my wallet, she peered over into my wallet, noticing a few dollar bills sticking out and loudly pointed out the obvious fact; "But you have cash!" Uh, yeah, I do. But I already told her, 'I don't have another form of payment', verbatim. She had the audacity to ask me "Well, but, how much do you have?" She's already overstepping boundaries, being completely unprofessional, and disrespectful. Can she not just believe me when I speak? I told her it's not enough, and not my money to spend, and left it at that. I cannot believe the audacity she had to be so nosy. Pinkberry! Start giving your employees a 101 on how to be professional. She wasn't a teenager, and truly has no excuse for her poor manners. I've seen her working months prior. They were also selling bibles and pushing religious propaganda just a few weeks ago. (To which I heard it was shut down...) If you like supporting a business that overcharges, has some of the worst service ever, and pushes their opinions on to its customers, please visit this location. Bad taste but more than it all bad service. We ask for a sample, we are eating the sample talking about how it doesn't taste like the flavor (pomegranate) and wondering if we should make a purchase. That's when they ask us to leave if we are not making a purchase because seating is for customers only. I haven't had Pinkberry in years and I'm glad I stopped by earlier tonight and got their regular Tart flavor with chocolate chips topping. I'm writing this because I love Pinkberry and actually want this location to survive--but it won't if the owner keeps treating portions like they're coming out of his personal savings. I have never seen yogurt measured this aggressively. It genuinely feels like the guy is pouring by the milliliter, as if a few extra grams might bankrupt the business. Young high school Van dreamed of going on a Pinkberry date. All of the cool kids were going on Pinkberry dates. My dreams came true when my boyfriend took me to Pinkberry BEFORE DINNER. So romanticccccc! So I am a die hard Pinkberry fan! I was so sad when the locations around me started closing down. I was once a regular to the Rancho Cucamonga, City of Industry/Rowland Heights, and Tustin locations closed down. I LOVE Pinkberry and I was sooooooooo excited when I saw that this location was still in business in Monrovia. We shared a Large with Toppings ($10.50). Dang you know I like this guy if I'm willing to share my Pinkberry swirl with him. He let me pick the flavors since I have passionate opinions about it. For the frozen yogurt I went with the Original and Pomegranate swirl. For the toppings, I was disappointed they did not have chocolate shavings or chocolate malt balls. I got my usual strawberry and cheesecake. I added granola and blueberries to be relatively healthy in absence of my usual topping preferences. They have a decent amount of tables with benches along the walls and chairs for us to enjoy our sweet treats there. I'll definitely be back. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out because it looked really good from the posters on the windows. We didn't even check Yelp because we were so excited to try it BUT... lesson learned! Upon entering we were promptly greeted which felt super welcoming but it was still not enough to make me want to stay after looking at their menu. I was only able to stay there because my bf and sister wanted to get something. They had very limited fro-yo options and pretty expensive too. My boyfriend ordered their medium cup with their cookies n cream and chocolate hazelnut fro-yo but we couldn't even tell them apart because they both tasted the same.. also, they were pretty stingy, didn't even fill up the cup and there was a hole in the middle :( they also charge extra for certain toppings like honeycomb and Nutella. The store is located in old town Monrovia. You can either find street parking or park in one of the nearby lots. I tried the pomegranite and chocolate hazelnut topped with a honeycomb. I thought the honeycomb was something special (never seen it as a topping at other froyo spots). The flavors were really good - not too sweet and with some tang. Taste was good. I came back here because I remembered the stellar service I received at this location a few months ago, nearly 6 months ago. I live in the San Francisco bay area (San Ramon and Moraga, both east of SF) and am back in Azusa to visit family. My Yelp Elite status is for the bay area since it is location based. I'm definitely planning to be a regular here as much as I can, like whenever I'm in Southern California, which is sometimes more often than other times but I plan to come here pretty much every time I drive down. I only live 350 miles away! I'd say I'm around at least twice a year, but I'd hope for 4-5 times a year if possible. I always drive and it is about 6 hours before stops and without traffic. The food quality, such as the yogurt and smoothies, is exactly what I expect from Pinkberry. Better than Yogurtland and Menchie's for sure, and worth the extra money. Since I rarely come to Pinkberry in general (closest one to my house or school is an hour away, while this is 10 minutes from a relative's house), I usually get 3 orders for myself when coming here, which is a bit extreme, but hey, I'm on vacation And I'll always opt for this location since I know the people are friendly. So far I have met the owners, Howard and Cecily. They are really nice and I always tip well because of that even though I usually wouldn't always tip for frozen yogurt (especially self serve, but Pinkberry has never done self serve). Actually, the 3 times I've been to Pinkberry in the year of 2022 have all been at this location only. The yogurt and everything else is definitely up to the standard of quality I expect from Pinkberry, but I find the service exceptional. I noticed that the people here really remember and talk to the customers - not just me, I witnessed a "welcome back" type of deal more than once! I'm surprised that they remembered me after a few months (he was like, "hey you're from NorCal right", since I mentioned both that and my Yelp Elite thing back in January since I was snapping pictures of the place and felt like I should explain myself ). But I guess it's not every day that they get a single person ordering 5-6 items at once and eating half of it immediately (saving the rest to bring to other people)! In short, great place and I will be back, whenever possible! ---------- old review from January: I'm from San Ramon (San Francisco bay area suburb) and I think the nearest Pinkberry is like an hour away, so I pretty much never go when I'm home. I'm staying the week in this area (10 minutes from this location) so I decided to come. We bought a couple of ice cream but when my family came in and my daughters brought in their boba inside an empty store, we were told by a female employee that "outside drinks are not allowed". Pinkberry has such a refreshing ambiance; the inside is tidy and spacious. You choose the flavor that you want, and they will serve it for you. You can even ask for half and half if you're indecisive about different flavors. The toppings are also presented neatly, and various are people's favorites. We tried the half-original half cookies and cream topped with fresh honey, cheesecake bits, and a waffle. We also tried the hazelnut flavor topped with mochi and chocolate chips. What other reviews say is true. Just from one look, you can tell they're pretty cheap. They charge extra if you want another cup to share. They weigh your yogurt. They currently do not accept gift cards or birthday rewards. These things don't really bother me. They aren't the only businesses that act cheap. They don't seem to get much business so I can see why they act like that. The only thing that slightly bothers me is that the store is decorated with bibles and other religious items. I feel that that this kind of advertisement doesn't belong in a business especially when it takes up a lot of the decor. Are you selling frozen yogurt or what? You obviously have your other well known joints, but I like how Pinkberry tries to add their own twist to things. I visited this Pinkberry with my service dog, who is legally allowed to accompany me anywhere. The staff didn't mention anything when I was purchasing my order, but when I wanted to sit down, they told me pets were not allowed--even after I informed them my dog is a service animal. This lack of understanding and accommodation for service animals is disappointing and unacceptable. Service dogs are not pets, and businesses should be aware of and comply with the law.
