Oldie but goodie ... Pinkberry is by far still my favorite froyo. Original - not too sweet with just enough tang. Service - 5 stars. The owners r always so nice and friendly. FYI - Myrtle is closed down on Friday nights for their weekly night farmers market. I think it's 5-9. It's fun to come support local businesses. Side note - so happy they finically got ac this year. Sad to see so many locations closing down the last 2 years. I hope this location will survive. Been a long-time patron of Pinkberry--I still remember when it first came on the scene years and years ago, and it was the leader of all the froyo craze. But nowadays, Pinkberry seems to have lost its momentum, and my favorite store of choice in Azusa has unfortunately closed down. So here I am today, at the closest alternative, the Monrovia location. The standard for Pinkberry, in terms of looks, must be really high, because every single store has the same consistent look, feel, and employs the same decor. This branch in downtown Monrovia is decorated as such, like you'd expect, is very spacious, and very clean and tidy, too. It's completely empty on a Wednesday night. I don't mind it; I don't like crowds. In fact, initially, there was no one behind the counter, but a male employee quickly came out and greeted me. I explained to him that I was here for my birthday reward, a free small froyo. He nicely looked up my phone number to confirm that I indeed had a reward credit in my account, then proceeded to take my order. I saw a poster from the outside that they're now serving a special flavor "La Dolce Vita", Pinkbee's tiramisu low-fat, milk ice cream. (See photo for the actual poster.) It was intriguing, so I chose that! Side note: prior to driving here, I checked the flavors available on the official website, and it didn't match up at all. There is a number of discrepancy, still existent online as I am typing out this review. For starter, I came here for the coconut flavor froyo, but it's actually not available. Instead, Monrovia did offer the aforementioned tiramisu flavor and a Meyer lemon flavor, whatever that is... (Wiki says it's a citrus hybrid, interesting! I may come back to try that!) The errors aren't make-or-break, but it could be annoying if you've set your heart on a flavor that isn't actually readily available. Now here on out was when "problems" started to arise: first, this branch did not stock some of the key ingredients for La Dolce Vita. Per poster, to make this treat according to the illustration, you'll need the ice cream, a ladyfinger, dusting of cocoa powder, and whipped cream. I wanted one looking just like that, like on the poster--but can't. The worker told me they don't have whipped cream AND cocoa power. Whipped cream, (which is surprising not to have at a creamery,) I don't really care, but the cocoa powder?! That's literally something you need to make tiramisu with, to give that signature brown dusty surface that everyone knows and loves. So that's pretty unforgivable. I reluctantly subbed it with chocolate crisps instead, but it's not the same. You'll be the judge, look at the photo of the advertised poster, then look at the final product given. Next, the portion. I honestly didn't realize this until I was scrolling through the reviews as I was dining in on site. A lot of the recent reviews complained that over the years, this store has gotten stingy about the serving size, and when I looked at my small cup now, it dawned on me as well--it's true! Before, at the Azusa store, a small cup of yogurt contained more yogurt/ice cream than this. This really looked a bit sad. (Check my photo to see for yourself.) Finally, the quality. In between the worker's giving me the cup and I put it down on the table for pictures, there's been a lapse of a maximum of... what? 3 minutes? The ice cream started to melt very, very fast. Keep in mind, this is ice cream, not frozen yogurt, and it shouldn't melt this fast. For years, I have been telling people, that the quality of Pinkberry is much better than Yogurtland's, because at Yogurtland, everything seems to melt the moment the icy dessert touches air. In comparison, tonight, this tiramisu ice cream behaved exactly the same! I couldn't believe my eyes. Has quality gone down this badly? (Again, photo tells a 1000 words. Notice how the "ice cream" is more powdery, much more consistent with the texture of lower quality froyo.) Sigh, this saddens me so because Pinkberry has been my go-to over Yogurtland, for many years even, because I have confidence that I am getting something of a better quality. Now that it isn't quite true anymore, compounded by the fact that your (small) portion is being served by an employee behind the counter, why would anyone choose Pinkberry? I would much rather go to a Yogurtland, self-serve myself a good hearty amount, then pay by weight at a fair price. I will end my review with 2 stars for my old flame, (plus the fact that my ice cream is free, so giving the business 1 star would be kind of mean,) but at this rate, I don't foresee a future for Pinkberry to survive its competitors. The yogurt was really tart and this women came in while we were waiting as if in a hurry and then immediately jumped behind the counter and I'm not sure if she washed her hands before serving us. The place has a smell and was hot inside. They didn't honor my free birthday reward which was the whole reason for us coming by to try out Pinkberry since we had never been. Located in the heart of the shopping district, this Pinkberry is well located for a summer night. It seems to be run by a family, so I fully support this and other stores. The portions are weighed, so it is a precise amount of yogurt, give or take a few grams. It seems this location always has patrons, so it must have quite a following. It is kind of weird to have ornate and colorful items in Pinkberry stores, so I am still lost in the decor of these stores. However, the taste of the original flavor is quite intriguing, and can't be reproduced perfectly; a lot of science must have been involved. You can pick from something tart like the lava swirl to something sweet like chocolate hazelnut ( my favorite) or something as simple as the original flavor. I hadn't been to Myrtle street in few years and there are many changes. New restaurants and stores. I am never happy to see a store close but i am very happy about this Pinkberry location. It's well designed/decorated with seating inside and out. The pretty girl behind the counter was friendly and helpful. She even gave a small sample for my pup to eat. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because the yogurt still meets Pinkberry standards. I always choose Pinkberry over yogurt-land's overly sweet yogurt. Other than that, this Pinkberry sucks. The owners are super stingy they weigh out the yogurt every time to make sure they're giving you juuuuust the right amount then for the toppings they barely sprinkle any over it. The tart is always consistent with the texture and the amazing creamy taste.
