Store was very neat and plenty of natural light. Atmosphere was relaxing and at the same time very spacious. This store is like a Willy Wonka for kids. Lol. I love how huge the selection of candy and soda this place has!! It was so fun browsing around and finding the perfect candies. You MUST check out their freeze dried candy section!! They have freeze dried cake!!! Like a whole slice of chocolate cake that's freeze dried!! That's insane. I picked up freeze dried jolly ranchers and they're so crispy and fluffy. Its a whole new experience eating them. It's so hard to explain what they taste like. Maybe like crunchy cotton candy?? I give it 4 star because the price was kinda ridiculous on some items. Just I found a bag of candy they were selling for $10, but on Amazon you can get it for $5. Also the truffle chocolates are pricey, like 4 pieces of chocolate for $13. And they had sodas on sale but the cashier wasn't aware of the sale going on and charged full price, but we caught the error and she fixed it. Sweet Ethan's is an adorable candy shop in Old Town Monrovia that offers an array of candy and sugary goodness from all around the world. Seriously, as soon as I stepped inside I felt like Charlie in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! With my golden ticket in hand I perused the store from wall to wall, until I finally stopped in front of their UK candy aisle. Unable to help myself, I began to grab one of nearly everything (I love British and Scottish candy/desserts) until my nearly non-existent common sense finally kicked in and I somehow found the willpower to stop myself. I started to walk out the door telling myself the last thing I need is candy or more desserts right now, when I caught sight of their cookie section next to the cash register. And what did I see you ask? None other than a circus animal cookie! I love circus animal cookie themed desserts, so I was no longer able to resist. And since the floodgates had officially opened, I also grabbed some macarons, which I was told they special order from this famous macaron baker out of Atlanta called the Macaron Queen. And let me just tell you, everything I purchased was delicious! I seriously couldn't believe how massive this place is once I stepped inside the quaint, unassuming storefront! Not to mention the dizzying amount of sugary goodness you're surrounded by once through the door! I was in search of some chocolate caramels for National Chocolate Caramel Day and decided to give this place a try after discovering our local See's had shut down. Was soooo impressed!! Funny enough I had only just seen this new store in Old Town Monrovia a couple of days earlier and thought "oh cool I'll have to give it a try one of these days" lol! This shop has everything you need - from Nerds to various flavors of rice crispy treats and popcorn to specialty chocolates and even fancy chocolate and caramel covered apples!! I met the owner and he was so nice and helpful and full of info! The store is so deceptively huge - seems like it goes on for miles!! And there's so much choice - even a bunch of old school candies in the back! I grabbed some Sweet Tarts Ropes, chocolate coconut nests, chocolate caramel marshmallows, a S'mores rice crispy treat, and the chocolate caramels I originally came in for. The rice crispy treat was ok - I have a feeling I'd like the plain original better - but that's just my personal preference. But those chocolates- wowww they're absolutely fantastic!! They blow See's outta the water!! The chocolate is thin and crisp - definitely high quality! The caramel is soft and velvety and just melts in your mouth with such creamy flavor!! The chocolate coconut nests rock too - perfect amounts of coconut and excellent bite size pieces! I loved the little glass jars the chocolates come in too - definitely will be repurposing those haha! And if you buy 3 at a time, you get a discount so that's cool. It's in a great location, right in the thick of adorable Old Town Monrovia. Today I visited the Farmers Market in Old Town Monrovia and came upon this store named Sweet Ethan's. I wish I could give a "0" out of 5 because this place is terrible. They have the worst customer service and are extremely rude to their customers. Additionally, this place is not a really a candy store, this place has very little candy and has more clothes than anything. Also, their prices are through the roof. I find Sweet Ethan to be more bitter than expected. I was excited for a sweet shop in Monrovia and it seems like a nice shop. However, I walked in during their grand opening period and was perusing their shelves when a person that I can only assume was Ethan looked and walked in my direction from the back and said "whatever you're looking for, just let me know and I can get it for you." I thought, what a "sweet gesture," so I said thank you. He then barked back at me, and rudely said "NOT YOU" and revealed a lady behind him that he was really talking to. We happened by this sweet shop by accident after having lunch at a local restaurant. When we walked in, we were amazed at the massive assortment of sweets. Unusual flavors of sodas, large assortment of candied apples, retro candies we ate as children. We spent quite a bit of time just browsing in awe of how much there was to choose from. This made you literally feel like a kid in a candy store, oh wait that was exactly what it was. What a cool spot with tons of candy choices! From chocolate, candy apples, drinks and so man candies to choose from. I came here for the astronaut candy aka freeze dried candy. I chose skittles and peach candy rings with chile. Both were fun to eat as they were light and airy with lots of crunch. Highly recommend to satisfy your sweet tooth. read more

Sweet Ethan's is a small candy shop on myrtle. Here they have literally everything you can think of. I've found candies I haven't been able to find in years, to cans of duff beer from The Simpsons. Hate to knock this little mom and pop shop but they really aren't that great. They're really ripping people off. We got a chocolate cupcake for 2.95 and it was super tiny! Like 2 bites? It was also soooo dry! Worst cupcake ever! Boxed cake mix cupcakes are better tasting than this. Most candies and baked goods seemed overpriced here. Speciality candy apples are about $12-$13 I think? You can get a skimpier version for around $6? Sodas seemed fair. Customer service was okay. Definitely did not stand out enough for us to come back. They weren't super excited for us to check out their shop. We don't expect them to beg for our business but it would be nice to feel welcomed. It really didn't give that friendly candy shop vibe. Lovely place in the city, good for little kids to walk in and find some interesting thing. The price might not be the best part but think in this way, what was the last time we saw a cute candy store? Like ice cream car might not have the best ice cream, baseball game might not have the best beer, but its about the experience and the feeling. Very cool store and very cool guy. They had these English candy bars you can't find anywhere over here, the last time I saw them were in a Cost Plus like 10 years ago. The variety he has in his store is quite frankly insane and amazing. Plus he makes these enormous cookies from scratch which are soft and chewy, get the s'mores one! Very cool store I'll definitely be making my way back here for the occasional treat. Be aware and considerate too of the fact that the pricing is a little expensive but it's very hard to find some of these items over here and the shipping/sourcing costs are often very expensive. read more
