My husband took me here for my birthday this year.
Food: excellent!
Ambiance: very nice and classy. upscale.
Service: everyone else was good but our waitress was HORRIBLE.
The server was extremely rude. They basically kicked us out before we can order dessert and have my cake and candle. It made us extremely upset and upset enough for us to contact the manager/owner the next day and told him who we had for a server and exactly what the waitress did that left us not wanting to come back. The manager asked for our address and sent us a gift card to come back. My husband sent an email to him telling him that we appreciate the offer and the good service from him, but we will NEVER come back with that waitress still employed. He said she was gone, and when we do come back to eat, to let him know ahead of time so he can meet us and also thank us in person for our feedback.
I am leaving a 4/5 right now because of the entire experience so far. If it wasn't for the manager's resolution, we would have given this a 0 star (1 star). No establishment deserves a good rating for terrible service, even if the food was good.
We will come back to this restaurant, and then give a second review. With that particular waitress gone, I think this restaurant will be OUR little secret - a true hidden gem! It's a little out of the way for us, but we are willing to go the distance if we ever want Greek food.
What the waitress did:
- things started out fine, but then turned sour when we noticed that she was rushing us through our dinner.
- referred to my mid 30's husband a "kid" when he had gone to the bathroom
- complained that he was getting up too much.
- told us to stop being on our cell phone so much
- another waitress had dimmed down the lights, and asked us if the dimness level was too dark or OK, we said it was fine. OUR waitress came by 5 minutes later and loudly said "Oh my God, why are you sitting in the dark? Who did this? Let me turn it on for you!" And stormed out of the room. We yelled after her that it was OK and that the other person asked us already and we're OK with it. She insisted that she will turn it back on for us. We heard her yelling to the other staff in the back of the room. It was anything BUT classy at this point. Then BAM! Bright lights in our face. Totally ruined the mood, but she thought she was doing us a favor.
- my husband told her in private before our dinner that it was my birthday and to put a candle on our dessert at the end. at the end, we had to ask for the dessert menu, she did not offer us this because it seems like most customers on our side of the restaurant has left.
- we asked her to give us 2 more minutes to decide on dessert, and she said "OK" and rolled her eye and sighed at the same time and left. With everything happened, at this point, I asked my husband, "Did she roll her eyes at us for asking her to give us a minute?" He said, "Yea she did, but don't let bother you. I don't want you to get upset tonight. Let's just order our dessert and enjoy your birthday." I was very upset with her by this point, and said fine, and looked back at our menu. We were just discussing about the possibilities, then she came back. I swear to God, she gave us 30 seconds from the time we told her to give us 2 minutes. I was just so upset I took a breath, put my menu down and said "We're all set. We can have the check. Thank you." She knew I was upset at her, so she said, "Really?" And I said, "Really." And I looked at her dead in the eye. She said, "Are you sure YOU don't want dessert?" I was even more upset because what she was trying to tell me us that it's not her fault. She's not rushing us, but it's OUR decision not to have dessert. So I looked at her dead in the eye and said "We don't want dessert." That's what she was looking for, so I just said that to get over with it. I don't want to explain anything because it doesn't matter at this point. She's like "Ok! Well, you're welcome to have dessert! So if you're sure then OK!" My husband said, "Well, it's getting late and it seems like you need to get home so we'll just get the check. Thank you." She said "Well, if you would like dessert, we can still get you dessert." I want to keep my cool, so I smiled and said "No, we've decided. Just the check please." And she walked out to get us our check. He said, are you sure? It's your birthday and you didn't get your dessert. I said, no that's fine. I just don't want to give the place any more money. They don't deserve it.
-When we walked out, we saw at on the other side of the restaurant, many customers were still eating their dinner. There were also quite a few people at the bar. We mentioned this to the manager, and he apologized. He said that the restaurant close at 9 for NEW customers walking in, but will take food orders up until the last customer pays to leave. They do not close the restaurant to the guests already inside - ever. read more
