Absolutely love this place! Now I've only gone the carry-out route here but the place always looks clean and inviting. I'm a bit of a homebody anyway. But the food, even at home, is always top notch. Chicken Picatta is great with just the right amount of lemon and briny capers. Best Chicken Parmesan I've ever had. They've certainly turned me on to serving it with a side of fettuccine alfredo. That combo seemed off to me when it came like that but I was converted at first bite. Other standouts include their Margherita pizza, grilled Chicken Leonardo and even a classic Spaghetti with homemade meatballs is outstanding. We finally got around to trying this place out. If you didnt know it was there you might miss it, as it is in the middle of a strip center. Had it tonight to-go and it was a great experience. We called in the order, was quoted 20 mins. Got there in 15 mins and the server came out to the car to collect payment. Then she immediately came back with steaming hot food. We ordered the Capellini San Marco, Pasta Pescatore, and a Fettucinni Alfredo with grilled shrimp. All of the pastas came with a side salad - a great assortment of fresh lettuces with cherry tomatoes, red onion, and a house Italian dressing. They were fresh and tasty. Then, each order came with three garlic knots and a chocolate chip cookie. We were in pasta heaven!!! The Capellini San Marco was a generous serving with a rice white wine sauce and I loved the little salty punches of capers. The shrimp was huge and so tender - it was fresh and perfectly cooked. The pasta pescatore was a very well balanced marinara with so much seafood!!! Our favorite was the scallops - they were so sweet and delicate. The fettuccine Alfredo has the same perfect shrimp and the sauce was thick and so silky smooth. We all moaned with satisfaction until nary a crumb was left. We will for sure be back to this Ma and Pop's hope in the wall that feels a very big Italian hole in our tummies! read more

Beware if you order through door dash or uber eats at this place. Waited about 1 1/2 hours because our order kept getting pushed back. Manager actually said those services get low priority and are always pushed back. He was rude and told us not to order from them again then hung up. Never had a manager act like that when a customer is upset about an order being so late. The shame is the door dash driver waited for a very long time and kept updating us but we could not even call the resturant as they would not answer the phone. The only way we got someone on the phone is the door dash driver got the manager on the phone when we asked him to do so. Food was not bad but we have crossed this place off our list based on the managers behavior and the fact that they push orders back from delivery services. read more

Tucked away in a trip center on Kuykendahl, the food is always good WHEN you finally get seated. Not sure what the problem is, but both times we have been there, not crowded and a couple tables empty, it is almost like a comedy routine for the front door greeter to figure out where they will seat you. We've driven past the Italian Cafe on Kuykendahl for years but never tried it. Frankly, the strip center facade wasn't the most inviting. We tried it tonight and were very pleasantly surprised. Great menu. Good wine and beer selection. Great value. Perfect service. We had veal parm and chicken masala that was as good or better than most in the area. We'll be back for sure! read more

On our in to Houston we stopped in to this little place for pizza. It's location is non assuming and frankly I didn't expect much. WOW WAS I WRONG! Besides being small and quaint it's very clean, comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff, the pizza was amazing! We chose a medium half supreme half chicken and a side salad with bread! Sooooooo good! We went last night for our first time. Doesn't look like too much from the outside, but the inside is nice! They weren't crowded at all when we got there around 7:30-7:45. Even still, service wasn't super fast as some of the other comments have said. We had chicken alfredo and the specialty meat pizza and mozzerella fritta as an appetizer. Loved all of it! Prices were reasonable. With 2 entrees, appetizer and teas, it ended up being around $40 and we took half of it home. We will definitely be back! Great low-key date night spot. I don't know what happened tonight. It's usually pretty good. We got our food to go and it was all super salty and extra greasy. Even the rolls had so much butter or oil absorbed in them. Our kid had a cheese pizza. It didn't look appealing and she took one bite and wouldn't eat the rest. We gave her some spaghetti and she wouldn't eat that either because of the saltiness. I could only eat a few bites of my lasagna. It's a Sunday night, so maybe there's a new cook? I don't know. I'm hoping this review will help to make improvements. Typically I'd give 3 or 4 stars. Just tonight I'm giving 2. I'm sure we'll be back to give it another try. I look forward to increasing these stars. read more

First time here. Have driven past it many times, but never thought to go. A friend suggested it, so it was the first time for both of us. Service was a little slow. There were people that came in after us that were able to place their orders and get their food before is. Food itself was pretty good though. I'm Italian and grew up on homemade Italian food and homemade sauce/gravy, so I'm a pretty big critic of Italian food. I got the chicken parm. The marinara on the chicken parm was very good. It comes with a side of fettuccine Alfredo, which was also very good. The only part of the dish that I was iffy about was the breading on the chicken. It tasted like panko crumbs. Maybe it was homemade bread crumbs that were just really thick too?? I dunno, but I prefer fine, seasoned breadcrumbs and the thickness of the bread crumbs threw me off and it was not seasoned at all. Thankfully the marinara was so good that it camouflaged the unfortunate chicken. I'd definitely be open to try more items on the menu so I will be back. read more

I must say I'm very disappointed. I had to make time today and post my review. I have eaten here several times and never was disappointed. Good Friday I decided I wanted to eat here. I called my order in right when they were opening back up for dinner. I wanted to try the chicken parmesan and I was not happy. I believe in supporting the locals. I always go next door and order from the wine bar. The biggest problem I had was my food very bland and my chicken was so dry I couldn't get it down. I had to trash the food.Not to mention my garlic knots were hard and not fresh. I dont understand for the life of me if I ordered right at opening how my food came out this bad. I'm a very understanding person so i need to know why my food was like this? I should have stuck to the shrimp alfredo. I just thought I would try something different. I had the chance to stop in for a pizza 06/28. I had traveled to my favorite pizza joint only to find them closed for a week of vacation. Not expecting much I stumbled on this fabulous little eatery. The place is set up like deli/cafes of my home town in Long Island (except alot cleaner). You can see all the action in the kitchen thru a large glass window. The chef and cooks are dressed for the part and look dedicated to their craft. I had a 18in pie. could only down three slices. It was terrific. The dough and the sauce are made fresh and you can tell. The toppings were plentiful and flavorful. Nothing short of a back home pizza. For only a dollar or two more than conveyor belt pizza you could be having a oven baked traditional Italian pizza. And without the grease pouring out the sides! Just for the record, the left overs reheated on the oven shelf were awesome. I would have gave it a 5 star but my tea glass got empty twice. Try this place for dinner! We get really tired of Italian chain restaurants. The service is usually subpar, the food is usually bland and they continue to raise their prices. I was craving real authentic Italian food last week so I convinced my boyfriend to try this place with me after reading the reviews. It was amazing! I had the cannelloni and he tried the lasagna. Both entrées came with a salad and garlic butter bread knots. Their homemade Italian dressing on the salad was amazing. There could've been a bit more garlic on the garlic bread but the texture and warmth was fabulous! We wanted to get dessert but we did not have the room! With two large entrées that included salad and bread and only drinking water before tip our bill was only $27. My boyfriend wants to try the pizza after seeing it in person and there are about five other things on the menu I'd like to try including their tiramisu and lemon mascarpone cake! It's a smaller setting so it's very intimate and the servers do bus their own tables as well as seat you but we felt like we had spectacular service! I broke my foot a week ago so I came into the restaurant on a scooter and they were fully accommodating and polite as they could be. Can't wait to return! read more

The Pasta Scampi Romana was the winner of the night - flavorfully sauteed in white wine, and came with plenty of tomato and shrimp. The Pasta Pescatore came with a generous serving of seafood (mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari, scallops) but we agreed that the tomato sauce was a tad too salty. read more
