Excellent customer service and beer! When visiting a new city, I make sure to always visit a local brewery and ISM was nearby my hotel in downtown Long Beach. The place is pretty expansive with an outdoors area w picnic style seating arrangements..very doggie friendly! Beer itself was tasty and cold. Made sure to go home w loads of their coasters and a glassware for my collection. Visit them -- loads of knowledgeable and friendly staff..above all, the beer was delicious!

Chicharrone and Green Salsa

Food Review Only! First off, their chicharrones are soooo good and crunchy but we packed them wrong for home and it tasted stale the next day... Chili was ok but the CORN BREAD was very tasty, nice and soft and moist cake like texture, very good. Also would totally order the tritip and fries again. The tritip was very good, not too fatty, and the chimichurri was a perfect blend to it. The fries were nice and soft with crisp... I would get these separate too if you love fries like I do. Cool hangout spot for beer drinkers, snack eaters, and dog owners... 100% will be back.

Plagiarism Fries

Great beer, friendly staff. Food is hit or miss (Plagiarism Fries are solid; nachos were awful -- and have since been removed). The beer line can definitely take a while, especially if doing tasters (you'll be in line a bunch). They don't encourage flights because they want the beers to be nice and cold when consumed, so they limit two tasters per person at a time. The space opens to the outside, which is excellent in great weather, but probably would get a bit hot or cold depending on the season. The parking structure gives three hours free with validation using the QR code you scan by the cash register. The quality of the beer product is top notch for as young a brewery as it is (evidenced by the gold medals). Definitely worth a visit.

Great place to bring your dog and enjoy the patio on a warm day. The artichoke dip with warm toasted pita was a tasty treat. Good brew and crew!

Popped in to check out their first, monthly bike ride which was scheduled about 6:30pm. Took off about 7pm. I didn't join in but I'd say there were 15-20 cyclists of all varieties. Sure the group will get larger as we get more daylight hours. Had a couple of beers. Their Blonde is Rainbow Harbor was nice and crisp albeit I prefer dark beer so I checked out their Midnight in Druidia which was very good. Nice size pours. Happy Hour prices are $2 off in-house brews. Food wise we checked out Pro Tip #1 with thinly sliced tri-tip. Sandwich was great with their 'slaw' mix. Fries were disappointingly lukewarm. Still hungry we split their special Frites which also had the tri-tip. There is were I should have complained. Lukewarm fries again so HUGE disappointment. Also can't say thin sliced tri-tip is easy to manage as the slices were too long. Prefer chunks. If you have a dog, they are welcome to come inside. ISM has some good local ambiance. Music a tad loud for me. Good service.

non-comformist: mixed greens, cucumber, cherry tomato, mandarin, almonds, mozzarella + jalapeño-honey vinaigrette = $15

3.5 stars The beer is quite good here. The food not so much. Our table shared the following: -non-conformist ($15): mixed greens cucumber, cherry tomatoes, mandarin orange segments, toasted almond slivers, and pearl mozzarella tossed in a tangy jalapeño-honey vinaigrette -nacho standard nachos ($15): bed of smokey black beans, verticalized tortilla chips, salsa cruda, melty Monterey jack, pickled & candied jalapeño, diced tomato, and guacamole + smoked chicken ($5) -crustacean rhapsody ($18): blackened shrimp tossed in tatanka sauce, citrus slaw, tomato, chipotle mayo, melted cheddar cheese on a toasted French roll -Western burger special The menu is fancified bar food which I generally enjoy however I experienced a lot of misses the night I dined here. Of the things we ordered, the nachos tasted best, though at some point, all the toppings melded together. The smoked chicken was smoking - it was tender and had a distinct smokey flavor. Delish. However, everything else was no bueno. The salad and Western experienced kitchen mishaps - the salad dressing was too, too sour rendering the salad inedible and the burger was burnt burnt. Mistakes, but forgivable. I didn't love their crustacean po-boy. I prefer a battered shrimp, but the version here is grilled. And it could have stood for more sauce. I'll definitely be back to pick up beer. I may have to wait to give the food another go.

This is a cool spot, especially because of the outdoor seating. A great spot to people watch and enjoy the beautiful weather on the promenade. Beer is great and food was pretty good. Bartenders are very friendly and helpful.

Great spot! The beer was awesome, and the ambiance made for a perfect Friday night. They had live music, which added to the fun, and we loved the mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Service was fast and friendly. Plenty of restroom stalls (always a plus!), and parking was super easy in the structure right across the street. Definitely coming back!

If something had to take over the old Beachwood location, I'm glad it was ISM. I love the spacious location with great bar seating and lots of outdoor seating with fire pits. Lots of people bring their dogs too which is fun. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Order at the counter and they will serve your beer right then, seat yourself and they'll deliver your food to your table. Both the food and beer are so good! I highly recommend the cubano sandwich, asada California taco, asada fries and nachos. They all go great with beer which are available in the three categories of light and easy, hop forward and malt forward. I haven't had a beer I didn't like here.

Late birthday celebrations brought my family and I to ISM Brewing for cold beers and eats. The ambiance was social and very welcoming. Definitely a hot spot for craft beer connoisseurs. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable in their beer and food menus. The beer was cold and refreshing. The food was delicious and unique, offering a deeper insight to the experimental, free spirited energy that is present at ISM Brewing. Will happily drink and eat here again, thank you!

Citrus Slaw

We've been to ISM Brewing on two occasions now and both experiences have been delicious. Mainly because they have these oyster mushroom tacos, aka "Mushie Mania", with poblano peppers, corn rajas, and avocado sauce. Tasty combination! It's quite pricy at $7 a taco, however it is a larger-sized taco (not street taco size). Also, I'm considering if they use quality ingredients and that this promenade location comes with premium rent. So I'm understanding if they need to charge $7 a taco. It simply means that I wouldn't purchase it on the regular. Definitely worth the once-in-a-while purchase though! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ism-brewing-long-beach?select=hAupkQCCkwIziHVLKkAcUQ I couldn't say the same for the $4 side of Citrus Slaw. The portion size was smaller than I hoped for and I wasn't vibing with the flavor. It got better once I squeezed lime juice on it. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind paying $4 for a side of their Corn Succotash. That stuff is delish! As for drinks, I've tasted a few things such as The Thickening and Western Standard Time. I like Plough & Harrow, a saison with rye and wheat flavor. I also like the coffee flavor in Cali Fiend. Food and drink aside, this is a fun place to hang! They have a busy event calendar. While we haven't necessarily gone here for the events, we've accidentally shown up for a storytellers night and drag bingo. The staff is very friendly and inviting. Very down to earth.

This Brewery is located in the heart of Long Beach. The beers are awesome and served chilled. They got a great Happy Hour Menu with beers and small bites. I had the Macaroni and Cheese Brisket. It was very rich and satisfying. Plenty of space to sit inside and outside.

First visit to ISM and it was a good intro. I've enjoyed their beers I've had on draft or can out and about, and the brewery is worth a visit. This review is only for the beer but do note their food menu is extensive and looks really good. The beer lineup in Jan 20024 included several good IPAs both west coast hoppy and tropical hazy as well as a couple interesting stouts. I think Ian is cranking out some good beers and hitting his stride with some great collaborations with other great breweries. The beer tender was knowledgeable and friendly. Bar seating was comfortable and they had a TV or two to watch the games. I definitely will return when in the area. Parking is somewhat difficult and mostly metered but they have 3 hour validation in the Lofts parking according to the owner.

It is an outdoor rooftop style restaurant. It offers great laid-back atmosphere. perfect for catch up, date night dinner or company relaxing dinners. I ordered steak and a cheesecake. Tell me to meet you somewhere and I'll be there. Simple as that and less stress for me. Anyways, that's how we ended up at this place. Trying to find happy hour with food in the area was somewhat a challenge. Either they were finishing up or it wasn't that interesting on the menu. Of course some places offered amazing drink deals but no food. We ended up here actually across the street still looking up for places but the rooftop patio was what caught our attention. The restaurant itself looked bare as there was no one inside. Still on the early side but noticing people going in and then heading up stairs. After a few debates on here and there, we gave up and found our way here. Checked in with the host, letting him know that we just wanted happy hour upstairs. It was about two flights of stairs which the place looked quite industrial with all the metal beams and stairs. Downstairs was beautiful but completely emptied. Everyone wanted to utilize the rooftop patio as it was beautiful out. We were greeted by someone which mentioned to us that any bar seating was available. There was a section towards the back that was pretty lively. I think it was booked for a group. Instead of the bar area, we asked to sit along the rooftop counter that looks out to the street and building across the street. Way better view and perfect way to spend the afternoon hours. Staff were all pretty sweet and very friendly. Whatever we needed they were they to help. Both the regular menu and happy hour menu were quite impressive. As we just wanted HH, it was given. They had drink special for 10.00 and small bites for 10.00 as well. Didn't hesitate and started off with some drinks. The red sangria with mixed fruits was a nice clean and refreshing treat. Tasteful without that aftertaste. And the Le Pistolet Fumant, a delectable tasty drink with mezcal with a hint of pineapple. And other well drink that was perfect for a nice afternoon. HH drink special was quite tasty to start off. Food wise, started off with an order of the Caesar salad, simple but delicious. Fresh crisp Romaine lettuce and slices of Parmesan and crouton bits. Nice crunch with each bite. The dressing, wow pretty tasty. And an order of the Mac and Cheese . Most places it's either a hit or a miss and let me say it was a HIT. Quite cheesy and full of flavors that a second order was had. A dish I do recommend for HH. We also had an order of the Brussels sprouts which was excellent. A nice glaze and crunchy with chunks of house cured pancetta. Nice big chunks I must say. Lastly the beef sliders with Wagyu beef patties. Honestly, this was the least favorite of the dishes we got. You would think it sounded great but it was quite tasteless and nothing major to report on. Served with brioche bun and shredded lettuce and tomatoes and a lemon aioli. I had high hope for it when I saw the group next to us order it but it was a little disappointing. Overall, the Mac and cheese, Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts were all hits. The sliders, disappointing. Other items on HH didn't look too ingesting for us but it was for other people. The rooftop lounge and bar area was the place to be when we were there. It picked up real fast after we got seated. Picnic style tables being occupied by large groups before HH ended. Just the rooftop alone was great and beautiful. It a place that's good for a drink and meal with friends. Downstairs was beautiful but seemed more of an intimate experience. Overall, it was a great choice for a meal during HH.

Personally I prefer sitting outside for the people watching. The staff were all amazing and very friendly. Places like that make the experiences more enjoyable. You want someone who is friendly and respectful. As we were there early, we grabbed one of the beer which they have quite a good selection on tap. There's also wine if you're not into beer. When it came time to grab some food, we were able to get a table inside. Majority of the breweries tends to serve pretty much the same things, pizza sandwiches and salads. No complaints here. Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. Pretzel was tasty and outdid the queso dip. Pizzas of course which were pretty big in sizes. A couple of the pizzas and a salad did four of us with leftovers. Their Hawaiian pizza was quite tasty and was finished. We also ordered one of the mushroom pizzas with an egg. It was tasty but a little on the salty side. The arugula salad was delicious. Simple but tasty. And then there was ham pizza I believe with onions and peppercini. That was also a favorite of the night. Overall, the place was quite fun. Not a big brewery and more intimate. The crowd was great and as most places are very kid and family friendly. There was couple of kids when we arrived. Service was great.
