Their business page on Yelp says they have outdoor seating and the photos of the outside show seating on a screen porch or deck. when we arrived, there was no one at the hostess stand. After waiting a few minutes, the hostess arrived, and let us know there is no outside seating. They have since closed in the porch. We left and went somewhere else. I'm unhappy the listing on Yelp isn't up to date since I used the filters specifically to find a place to sit outside. read more

Party of 12 of us tonight. Love the venue!! Everything is so clean and beautiful there! Good friends and good time! Waitress ( Alady?) Was good except she didn't know the specials for the evening or the prices...??? ...say what?...need a little management skills in training your waitresses. Anyway, 3 or 4 of us had the Cod basket..fish was cut very thin for cod! And dry!! Overcooked. We went initially for the "Specials" that were advertised...$32.00 for Prime rib is expensivel!! Rib Eye steak..maybe. But not a roast beef! Come on!!??? Really??? So no one ordered it ( what are you thinking? It should be around the $18.00 price range! They had a " one man band" and he was very good and enjoyable to listen and dance to. Enjoyed being with group of friends, but will probably be a while before we go back because of food prep and prices of food. Beer and liquor seemed to be in line. read more

We were in the large room for a high school reunion. Nice food, nice venue - but I think the reunion was the real attraction. The food was standard - decent. The best part was the bartender - he was very friendly and helpful - even admitted the wine was lower grade, but told me which one was tasty. So, "Aok" - at least for the venue. Wow. I was honestly surprised at the value being offered here at the Island View. Since it's off the main trail (not on Hwy 27) I think many people don't think about it. AND, I always figured (1) it would be all "old people" and (2) it would be pricey. So okay, I was right on the first item . . . but honestly isn't everything in Highlands County pretty much all "old people". LOL However, I was wayyy off on the 2nd point. My partner got an amazing steak and I had what may have been the best Salmon I've ever eaten. Served with appropriate sides and rolls - Yum. With these two meals, his tea, and my beer the tab was only $37!!! (Gotta catch the sunset menu). Service seemed a bit off . . . she wasn't able to answer many questions about the menu and it seemed like they were rushing us out of there - - we got there at 7 pm and they supposedly are open till 9 pm. But we'll definitely be back. If you're looking for someplace new to try . . . head down Sun N Lake Blvd to the 2nd circle. Great food at a value price. read more

Was there for lunch with friends visiting from Lauderdale, food and service were fabulous. Went again fir dinner with friends visiting from Tampa, food was barely edible. Service however was excellent. There was a lot going on that night so kitchen may have been overwhelmed. Service however was excellent. We were attending a wedding there but became the DJ last minute after their dj stood them up. The staff was great with helping us get the party started. However, the missing star is do to our inability to access Wi-Fi which we needed to run our system. They need a vendor only Wi-Fi. read more

Went to the restaurant a few nights ago to see if things have improved since the renovations were finished. Nothing has improved. 1. ALWAYS loud. You can't hear you're with but you sure can hear all the golfers. 2. Made reservations for dining room. Was STILL thrown into banquet area. It sux on that side. 3. Service was slow. 4. Ordered Strip steak. Inedible. Full of gristle. Since original opening, I have gone maybe eight times. Only once was it a good dining experience. read more

My wife saw Island View's post on FB touting their upcoming Valentine's Day buffet. It sounded very nice, and since we had heard they had recently done some renovation and enlarged their kitchen we had hopes for a nice dining experience. We were, unfortunately, very disappointed. The offerings, though limited, sounded good in their ad but the actual dishes were uninspiring and insipid. I won't critique every dish, but will just say they were uniformly lacking in flavor. In addition, none of the dishes were hot. In particular, the broccoli frittata had no seasoning at all and no flavor whatsoever. The salmon tasted like, well, salmon, but the sauce described was practically nonexistent and there were no toasted almonds or grapes present, as described in the menu. The biggest disappointment, however, was reserved for the eggs Benedict. As I was in line, a new, fresh tray of these was brought from the kitchen, which gave me to expect they would be fresh and hot. I happened to get the first one out of this new tray and when I tasted it found it was completely cold. I don't mean it wasn't piping hot and just lukewarm; it was completely cold. It was obvious these eggs had been put into this tray and left to sit on a counter in the kitchen for an extended period of time, presumably waiting until the previous tray was empty before bringing it out. Ironically, the egg itself was poached perfectly, which made this even more vexing. Incidentally, there was virtually no hollandaise sauce in evidence. In addition, we would have expected a dessert offering fitting Valentine's Day but again were disappointed. The only things that could pass for dessert were some small obviously store-bought breakfast Danishes and some mini-muffins. Really? That's the best they could do? I really wish I could write a something positive about this visit but cannot. The entire experience was disappointing from beginning to end with the exception of the server, who was friendly and efficient. I can't see us ever going back to this restaurant. read more

We had such a great time last night and the food was delicious and you cannot believe the entertainment that they have on Friday evenings and we are looking forward to next November 30th for that great food and entertainment that they are having it's a headliner with Mark Stone who is a comedy mind-reading and ESP show. We live in sun n lake by c.c. their food is always great n the prices are great. Staff is always friendly. We know a lot of them by name. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We have gone for lunch,dinner, special holidays, events at club including our five year wedding anniversary celebration. And just go in n sit at bar for glass of wine n relax!! Love it. We had a group of 11 go to island view for lunch. We will never return. Service was horrible. One of us repeatedly asked for a soup spoon and finally had to go find her own. The waitress took our order and never came back to ask if we wanted beverage refills or even if we wanted dessert. My soup came late, actually with my meal and my fish was undercooked. They did replace my sandwich and discount my meal. By the time I had a cooked fish sandwich everyone else was done eating. After we paid we waited 10 minutes and nobody came back with our change. We asked two different people to find our change. They were not crowded so there was no excuse for such horrible service. read more

If u are not a golfer and live in sun n lake forget it. limited seating and in most congested area right off reservation desk..large portions and average to good menu which is very limited. My wonderful experience started with making the reservations. I needed a table for four and the booking person said he didn't have one but would make it happen. And he did! We had tickets to an event after dinner, but had gotten behind schedule and arrived to the restaurant late. By the time our food arrived we had to leave. The staff was wonderfully accommodating, barely pausing when we said we needed to go boxes right away. They jumped to help us and we made it in time for the concert. Even better, the food was absolutely delicious when warmed up the next day. I've been there many times and have never been disappointed. Do yourself a favor and visit here - just don't be late so you can savor the flavor! read more

Great food. Great service. Had reservations for 7pm, but showed up at 6:40pm, and were seated immediately. Tip: if you don't want to order off of the Sunset Menu (3:30p to 7p), ask for the other menu. According to our waiter, you can order off the lunch/ dinner menu at any time. The lunch/ dinner menu has appetizers and sandwiches and the sunset menu had just entrees. The two menus on their website (Sunset and Lunch/ Dinner Menus), were not the menus that we were given, which was kind of disappointing as I really wanted the salmon fillet that was on the lunch/ dinner menu but they other menus had similar items so it was too disappointing. Note: The day that we went, which was a Saturday, there was a party happening in the room next to the dining room and it was very loud. However, the restaurant closed at 8pm and the party did not start getting loud until 7:50p. Overall, great experience but I would definitely suggest you make a reservation! I had called at noon and was told that they did not have any open reservations until 6:45-7:00p. When we arrived, there was hardly anyone there. I pictured the place to be packed by what I was told when I called to make reservations. My guess is some people did not keep their reservations. read more
