I always love it when a new restaurant opens in my Highlands County and this place debuted in…read moreNovember. It's a little off the beaten path for me and I'm a lazy ass so it took me until this weekend to get there! Arriving- It's in the clubhouse of the North Golf Course in the Highland's Ridge Community. Follow the signs for that clubhouse or let your GPS do the work. If you are familiar with the area, it was formally The Tavern. Ambience- So this is what a lot of folks would call a Country Club restaurant. As I had patronized the old tenants, I was curious how they were going to transform it into an Irish Pub. The answer is they didn't! It looks nothing like and Irish Pub. It's a large space with lots of natural light and traditional furniture. It has lots of outside seating that's covered with ceiling fans and many seats have a nice view! There is a very small bar that seats about six. In short, it looks like a Country Club restaurant. So much for pub ambience! Customer Service- Awesome, maybe seven stars! I had substantial interactions with the manager, bartender, and a server. All were exceptional. Adult Libations- Definitely not a pub style bar. It's a full bar with just a few taps but nothing special. Food- Like the ambience, it's an American menu with a couple of Irish dishes. There's Bangers & Mash and Shepard's Pie. Other than that, they throw in a couple of Irish terms to deceive you but it's really an American menu. There're enough choices to satisfy most folks. See their website. I ordered Irish Brisket Flatbread- Brisket, bacon, caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese @ $13. It was out in good time and plated very nicely. Plenty of food for the price so good value. The flatbread was nicely crisp. I love caramelized onions and that's the base here. Everything was very fresh. Plenty of brisket. Unfortunately, the onions overpowered the other ingredients, so the flavors were not balanced. It was tasty but needed a little work to be a winner. Conclusion- If you're looking for an Irish Pub, you're in the wrong place. If you're looking for an American menu that has some potential with a great staff and beautiful outside seating, give it a try. As they are new and the staff is awesome combined with the outside seating, I'm going to be a little charitable and say four stars!

My friend, Randy, said to her the sign says 9pm she told him she wasn't doing this with him right now cause she had a hard day. I asked if Randy and I could finish our pool game, and she said no cause they already said they were having a meeting at 8 pm. Which they didn't tell us until after we had already bought our drinks. I said that's BS, and she told me to get my ass out of her bar and that I could keep my ass and drugs oit of her bar. I told her I don't do drugs and she could test my ass. I then said half her staff does cococaine and called her a bitch as I was walking out. She threatened to kick my ass and the 6'5 bar back chic stood up acting like she was going to hit me. This was all while I was walking out to leave. Then after I left she called my boss, Penny, trying to get me fired. Thank God I have an awesome boss. Anyone can ask my boyfriend, Randy, Doug or Bill. They were all there when it happened. She then barred my friend Joie who used to bartend at Charlotte's cause she commented on my Facebook post which is identical to this post.

-- My craving was satiated! -…read more Cowboy Steak Salad popped into my brain and the craving was so strong I jumped into my car and drove the11 miles to this place. Here is what happened- The Chain- Based in Tampa, there are around 140 locations with the majority in Florida. They can be either franchised or corporately owned. They tend to use existing spaces so the interiors can vary quite a bit. Over the years, I think I've been to four of them. Arriving- This one is on the northbound side of US Route 27. It's in a plaza fronted by the local MickyD's. Just look for the golden arches. Plenty of easy parking. Pro Tip- If you are a Yelp Check In person you'll frown. The address is screwed up and maps about 5 miles away so no Check In! Ambience- These guys bill themselves as a Family Sports Restaurant and that's about right. Zillions of TVs! You'll be surprised how small it is. The u-shaped bar seats about 15. Booths around the edges and mostly high tops in the middle. There is nothing unique about it. It's clean & neat and otherwise unremarkable. Adult Libations- Full bar with maybe ten taps and lots of bottles. Not a fancy craft beer place. You'll have seen the selection many times. I ordered a pint of Goose Island IPA @ $6.50 but it was 2 for 1 so not only tasty but a great deal. Wi-Fi- Kind of a mess and needs work. There are four or five unsecured obvious listings, but they either had no internet or required registration which I'll never do. Fortunately, Xfinity had a strong local hotspot, so I was good to go. The App- Solid with great reviews! If you are ordering to-go or delivery, the app is a must. Customer Service- I sat at the bar, and my bartender was wonderful. Five stars and absolutely no complaints! Food- Giant, giant menu. They try to satisfy everyone. That rarely works but they give it a great try. It's American comfort and bar food and you've seen variations of it a million times before. I ordered my Cowboy Steak Salad @ $16,99 and specified medium rare. It comes with blue cheese dressing, but I subbed ranch with no problems. It came out exactly as I was craving. My steak was tender, sliced nicely and cooked perfectly. In addition to the greens, my salad included roasted corn, diced tomatoes, bacon crumbles, onion crisps and shredded jack cheese. All I can say is yum! Conclusion- So the place is nothing fancy or particularly original, but it was clean with a great bartender, very good entrée salad at a competitive price. It gets a solid three stars from me!

I am giving it a one star only because of last night's performance from the staff. We went there to watch the Super Bowl. If when we got there as we were sitting at the bar talking about the Super Bowl talking about waiting for Bad Bunny to come on they at that point should've told us that they were not going to be having Bad Bunny but the alternate Turning Point to be televised. There is a bar that seats about a dozen. Pro Tip- If you park as directed by the signs you will be confronted by a formidable set of stairs. If that is a challenge for anyone in your party, swing around to the left of the clubhouse and you'll spot a small parking lot which much easier access. Adult Libations- Full bar. I spotted about ten taps with several popular craft brews and there are a few wines. Customer Service- My excellent bartender/server claimed to have worked there for 14 years. If that's true, they hired her at about age 6 or 7! When I told her that she said she loved me! Food- One-page American pub style menu. You've seen it all before. Fried food, sandwiches, burgers and salads. The lunch special was a pulled pork sandwich topped with slaw with fries & baked beans as sides for about $8 so I went with it. As you can see from my picture it was nicely plated. The bun was buttered and toasted very nicely. The fries were crispy and hot, and the baked beans had bits of pork and onion and were very tasty. Now for the sandwich. As soon as I picked it up, I knew I was in trouble. There was a massive amount of tasty pulled pork and I thought there was no way the bun could handle it. I was right and after eating about 1/3 I finished the remainder with a fork. Note to Chef- If you switch to a toasted Kaiser roll that can handle the load, you've got yourself a 5-star sandwich! Despite the misstep with the incredibly messy sandwich, all the food was very good, and I had a nice time. This Golf Resort is off the beaten path but if you are out that way it's a solid choice for a casual lunch or dinner.
