So the food here was amazing. I will say that my Alfredo wasn't the best. But the steak and the bread was wonderful. The Alfredo was on the grainy side. My husband had the burger which he loved. But would have like to see some seasoning on the chips. My daughter got the 8 wing appetizer for her meal with a mix of parmesan and spicy which she devoured. For dessert we got the orange cake and the chocolate. Both were HUGE and so strong I need some milk with those. Overall it was amazing food and they were so nice. The cost those wow keep an eye on that. The service was so much better than the other place. Super nice. And the ambiance was so fun with the license plates and the karaoke. Abigale is absolutely the best server I have had in a very long time. Sweet, honest and truly all about your experience. The prime rib was great! The crab cakes also were very good. Seemed there has been a gap in alcohol deliveries but we had a good experience nonetheless. Drinks made well, very attentive, food was plenty and tasty. read more

This was the worst burger I think I've ever had! I asked for it to be cooked mid well, but it came out VERY WELL cooked and dry as can be! While eating the burger, it smelled like the meat was on the verge of going bad and I could only eat half (luckily). You're given the option if chips or paying an extra $3 for fries. I went with the chips which were stale. During the night I had stomach cramps and thought I was going to vomit. This was the first and last time I will eat at this establishment. I'll try Dock 633 right down the road next, can't be any worse. read more

Service was good in this lake side bar/grill. We stopped in for lunch with the locals. Coworker had the Ruben special and enjoyed it. I had the "huge" fish sandwich grilled. Terrible food. Table needed to be wiped down. I had fried mushrooms and fried shrimp. Both were super greasy. The waitress was bland and didn't welcome us to the restaurant. I had to find her behind the bar to get more napkins. My wife had the hamburger with fries for $19.00 and the bun was hard as the table. Stay clear of this place. Bad service and bad food. Also it took forever to get the food once ordered. My wife initially wanted fried wings but was told they were out of wings (on a Friday night?) the place was half full which should have told me to scramble out of there but we were hungry. My favorite in the area. Love the vibe, but especially love the seared tuna (meal) and the steak bites (appetizer, add grilled mushrooms and onions if you like). We come every yr for over 5 yrs. Last 3 yrs we've only come once (stay across the street). Hamburgers are over cooked and tasteless, salads over dressed, only well liked food was the fish. As ALWAYS poor service with enough staff so that it should be excellent ( would someone train their servers and take their phones away while working?), can't understand how anyone gives them anything over a 3 star. Service was not great, bottled beer was not real cold. Most of the food was ok, except the Ribeye. They have on the menu Sizzling Ribeye but it came out so spicy I couldn't eat it. The waitress said oh, it's probably the blackened seasoning and she offered to have it recooked without the seasoning, but the time it had already took to get our food, I chose not. Who makes all their steaks blackened without putting that on the menu?!?! Other members of our party had clam strips, hamburger and chicken parmesan and all said it was ok. Moved to LP in Dec, been to Jaxsons about 5 times. I have great luck with the food but dang the service is just not great. I have sat inside, outside (both back and front). I have waited for the initial contact with a server, the first drink, to order, to receive food and the check, amounts of time that are not typically, or even acceptable for a small bar/restaurant. I will say I continue to try to go back because the food is solid, so far. My very favorite thing has been the fried mushrooms and the French dip, the wings are good but lacking any good sauce with consistency. This place is 1 mile from my house, I will continue to give them a chance. read more

I want to complement Jaxon's owners, Chef's and Staff in Lake Placid, Fl for their outstanding service and delicious food. My husband and I order take out once a week from Jaxon's and are never disappointed! our usual takeout order is the fried fish basket, steak bites , and a side order baked potato. The Server who bags our take out orders every week takes extra steps by putting the butter, sour cream and the lemon wedges all together in a separate container to prevent the butter from melting all over our food and keeping the sour cream and lemon's cool. Every take out order our food is made with perfection! The fish and French fries have never been greasy, like some of Jaxon's competitors take out fish and fries have been. so much that we couldn't eat the fish due to it saturated in grease.. Yuck! Service was great, our server Kelsie was a little ball of energy with a great attitude and very attentive. Draft beers are $1:00 during Happy Hour and food prices are reasonable. My Fried Fish Sandwich was cooked perfectly and was a huge piece of what I believe was pollock. My wife had the Prime Rib special and it was cooked perfectly. It had a rub on the outside with a Garlic Crust which gave it a great flavor. We will certainly be back. And if you go hopefully Kelsie is your server!!! read more

This place has absolutely no curb appeal because the curb and parking lot are at the back of the restaurant! This makes perfect sense when you discover that the front is a beautiful patio facing a lake! So, when you drive up and say meh, ignore yourself and wander on in. Atmosphere- Some folks say dive bar because it's dark. I would say pub. There is a bar of course and lots of dark wood. There are large doors opening to the patio and the lake, Customer service- Two folks welcomed me as soon as I stepped through he door. I sat at the bar and my bartender was just fine throughout my stay. I had my first drink within seconds. Food- There is a large, one-page menu with everything from fried bar food to seafood and steaks. I went for the 10 OZ Prime Rib @ $16.00. It came with a side salad, sauteed vegetables and my choice of one other side. From a substantial list I went with black beans over yellow rice. My side salad was a delightful surprise. It was "built" rather than just thrown together. Check out my picture. There are not many casual pubs where you find this attention to detail and it was delicious. I noticed on the menu that several items were offered blackened but not prime rib. I inquired if they could do it and was told "absolutely!" I love blackened prime rib, and this was tender and delicious. The reviews here are inconsistent but my experience was four stars. Take my advice and take the chance. I've been coming here for many years and tonight I felt like a second class citizen. Sat at a table for 15 minutes in a empty room, no waitress came the 2 parties came in and were waited on immediatly, we got up and walked out the door, as I left I let the waitress know how I feel. First place I had the pleasure dining in Lake Placid. This won't be a lengthy review, but I will tell you, I've never had friendlier service. They just make you feel like you're home. We love supporting family owned restaurants. We came to Lake Placid to check out the festival and googled a place to eat.Jaxsons came up. So we decided to check it out. Staff was friendly. Location was nice. Service was slow. It's a seat yourself. Ok we can deal with that. We sat and waiting a few minutes. Our server took our drink orders. Came back a few mins later with the drinks. About 10 mins later came back to take our food order. About 30 mins later the appetizer came out. We waited 10 mins for silverware to eat the appetizer. And had to get up to ask a different server for the utensils. Now the appetizer is Cold!! Not a good start.. By now people around us who sat after us had their food. Now it's been a hour and we are still waiting for our food. Finally the food comes out and it's not hot. It is all cold. We got the burger with fries, which was ok.. The shrimp dinner (the green beans were ice cold and tasted weird) my daughter didn't eat them. And the chicken club. Which is not a club sandwich. The Bread was only toasted on 1 side came with no condiment on it (Mayo, mustard, any dressing) The chips that came with it were cold, the chicken was cold and so hard to Chew that my husband forced it down his throat. We honestly don't recommend this place unless you are a local. Prices are a little high too for what you are getting. read more

We were visiting from out of town. We decided to sit in the covered, screen enclosed dining area out back. Nice breeze. Nice view of the lake. Tables and chairs were nice and comfy. Ceiling fans going. Great atmosphere. Not long after we placed our order, the elderly couple also sitting in the outdoor dining area began to smoke cigarettes, and smoked through our entire meal. There is a designating smoking and dining area in front of the restaurant with chairs, sofas, dining tables, TVs, you name it! I asked the server if it was typical for people to also smoke in the outdoor dining room where we were, and she said it's not typical, but it is allowed. Since when is it OK to smoke in a restaurant? I'm a smoker, but I don't smoke where people are eating. You just don't do that any more. The food, drinks, and service were ok. read more

We ordered the fillet steak with mashed... excellent. Next was a Grouper po'boy sandwich that was huge and perfectly cooked Next the "make-your-own" burger, it was good, but average Finally, the Chicken Hookie Melt on a bed of sour cream. Very greasy!!
