The service has gotten progressively worse. Some of the staff is extremely rude and not friendly at all.

I love, love island spice and the food is amazing. Stopped by today and the servers continuously talk over the food while they were sharing out the food. One answered the phone while still dishing out the food. I was disgusted. As Jamaicans, we were taught not to talk over food when its not yours. I guess you can't really base you're opinion off of someone review , but after I came here I would have to say I have had better jamican food before. I thought the food was very blend and the only portion that had flavor was the chicken. The rice tasted really dry and there wasn't alot of sauce on the chicken nor on the rice. The plantians was really good and the cabbage as well. I gotten a chicken pattie it was alright they was no flavor to it. Went for lunch and tried the jerk chicken, it had nice flavor but was dry and the skin was somewhat soggy. Peas and rice dish was flavorless and very dry. The food was room temperature (not safe for chicken). I went at lunch time when food should have been the freshest. Service was fine. I don't think I'll return. read more

My in and out Jamaican food spot. I switch between the stew chicken and oxtail with rice and peas. My grandma lives for It. Perfect to pick up and go. Not much of a super formal dining room, but expect some good reggae while you eat, adding some authenticity to your experience. read more

I really like this spot. Jamaican restaurant staff are known to be rude and cold - almost as if they're doing you a favor. This place is friendlier than most of the ones I've been to. I'm always greeted kindly upon entry. The food is good too, with the exception of the plantains. They give 3 maybe 4 tiny pieces of non-ripe plantain with the meals. The plantain should be sweet and they should give more, especially if you skip the cabbage. Otherwise, no complaints. read more

Good jamaican home cooking . Good jerked chicken and oxtail. The only thing I don't like is they serve you in styrofoam plates when you eat in . Soups are served in plastic cups when eating in too which sucks . There is no bring your own beer. Jamaican food is complimented better with beer. I would have given it 4 stars if plates and real utensils where available upon eating in . This is a larger restaurant not a storefront . I have seen smaller shops serve soups and meal with real plates. Soup difficult to eat on a plastic cup. read more

I give this restaurant a thumbs down! for their customer service. A young lady that works the front as an issue with taking orders and feeling under pressure when it gets busy. As i was trying to order my food in which i had 4 orders. she kept asking me is that all?" i sed no. as i got to my last order she cuts me off and states that she has alot of customers and i need to speed it up. Baring witness with the folks i was ordering for, we decided by the rude statement that we did not want the food anymore. The sad part is this is a Black establishment being supported by the black community. Her poor representation for the restaurant will cause their down fall. read more

The food here is pretty good. Some of the best jerk chicken you'll have in this area. The chicken soup is very hit or miss but when it's good it's great and when it's not, it's all pepper no flavor. It's the customer service that leaves much to be desired. It's 2019. Do we really have to continue the stereotype of the perpetually rude lady at the counter??? Like I get it, Claudine, you got a lot going on in your life, but we wouldn't put up with this attitude in other types of restaurants, why must we continue to put up with y'all's?? Ugh. I wish I could write zero stars? I came in here today with my girlfriend hoping to get some good Jamaican food. I asked the young lady politely if they used lard in a certain food item, she responded no, with such an attitude . There was not one customer in the store and it was 330 in the afternoon , I didn't understand the reasoning behind her attitude. I should have known when she didn't even acknowledge us when we came into the restaurant. I placed my order and she just stared off into space on purpose while it was obvious that she was hearing my order. Right then and there I told my girlfriend let's leave and we took our money elsewhere. I will never recommend this place nor will I ever step foot in there again. I was working in the area and decided to stop by for a quick lunch. I order the chicken wings and fríes + mini yerk chicken. And to be honest the best part of the entire lunch was the Coca Cola. Not only was the food poor quality, but I had to wait more then 30 minutes to get my order. I highly recommend skipping this eatery. read more

I came here Sunday afternoon because I had been craving some Jamaican food. I had decided to order the curry chicken with rice and peas and a beef patty. The curry chicken was nothing spectacular. I thought it was lacking in the flavor department. I also thought the rice and peas were undercooked. The beef patty was good but I thought it didn't have enough heat to it - it wasn't spicy at all, which for some would be a good thing but I like my beef patties on the hot side. Overall, the food wasn't terrible, it just wasn't on par with my expectations. I don't think I will be purchasing food from this establishment again based on my experience. read more

Im from the bronx and was expecting to have something similar and this spot wasnt even close! rice and peas were dry and the curry chicken wasnt spicy at all. The white rice stewed chicken and beef patties are decent but nothing that would have you going back for more. I get more for my money at golden krust which is 30secs from here, so i'll just stick to them. read more
