Not impressed with this business. I walked in this afternoon and was the only person in the shop. The woman working behind the counter didn't greet me or even smile. She moved from the side counter to the front counter and just stared at me. I finally approached the counter and again no greeting, no how can I help you etc. How else are you supposed to feel but a bother when that type of interaction happens. I needed a plain black spaghetti strap added to a prom dress that was missing. The girl said that she didn't know if they had that material. She then stated they send alterations out and couldn't help me. Disappointing to say the least. No way to call whoever does the alterations to find out if it could've been completed? I can't imagine how it works if you need to be measured to have slacks altered etc. Overall, if the girl working the counter had even attempted to be polite I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review. read more

I came in as a new customer prepared to spend a significant amount on multiple alterations, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The staff was not only rude, but also dismissive. I was left standing partially helped while they continuously assisted other customers who came in after me. When I finally asked whether I should come back at a better time, the employee accused me of being rude and claimed I was "undressing" in front of customers even though I was simply trying on pants over a full bodysuit with nothing exposed. Her tone and behavior made it clear she did not see me as a paying client, despite the fact that I was. The dismissiveness and unprofessionalism I experienced ensured that I will not be returning. read more

On top of that, the gentleman upfront ,I should know his name along with the young lady who sometimes is there, are always super friendly and easy to deal with. Our dog got sick on one of our furry rugs, and the other just needed a simple cleaning. We brought both rugs in to get cleaned at Island dry cleaners. We showed them where the dog got sick on the one rug. They said no problem, both rugs would be cleaned in a few days. I always record opening my dry cleaned items out of the bag when bringing them home, to have documentation of the state of the item being returned to me. Make sure there's no damage. My white furry rug turned out fine. Seems clean, no issues. The gray rug my dog got sick on, is still clearly visible after getting it dry cleaned. I'm disappointed that they said nothing to us when we picked it up, they should have told us they didn't get it fully cleaned. We paid full price, over $100 to get both rugs cleaned, while one is clearly, visibly dirty/stained looking. read more

I have been here a few times to get blazers dry cleaned and have been incredibly satisfied. However, I had four denim pants hemmed and was very disappointed with the outcome. Unfortunately, I didn't check them prior to leaving and just recently tried them on, which prompted me to leave the review. The hem on the pants isn't even relatively close to the original pant. I wish I had a before-after image for context and if they weren't able to replicate it contacted me prior to doing such a poor job. As mentioned, if you are looking for a dry cleaners ONLY--definitely recommend. Although advertised, the tailoring may leave you unsatisfied. read more

I've been going to island cleaners for about 6 years, started because it was close to me and a family owned business. I moved further and still drive 30 mins to use them. The last two times I've had an issue, first was the price of alteration at drop off vs pick up. I talked to Tracy and she made it right. This last time, I dropped off my work uniforms for dry cleaning, press and alterations, and had one of my uniforms that was altered previously for them put again on the ticket (it was an example for the alteration lady). It was a simple fix, and it was taken off. This may come off as a negative review but it's not. My point is each time there was a miscommunication they fixed it, made it right. Something so simple. That's why I'll continue to trust them with my dry cleaning, press and alterations. We're all human. They care about their customers while being fair in pricing and to themselves as a business. 10/10 recommendation for island cleaners. Wonderful customer service with a smile and prompt turn around. I took my blazer in on Wednesday to be cleaned and was notified via text it was ready on Thursday. Super impressed. Less than 24 hour turn around for my one item. I also received a very fair quote to clean my 10 year old wedding dress and I almost cried tears of joy when the sweet girl at the front told me they can still attempt to clean it and preserve it for me after all of this time. First of all let's start with prices.....extremely high in comparison to the old cleaners I used to use (that is now closed). The only plus for this business is they did have a decent turnaround time given they don't clean everyday (per the lady at the front desk). After spending over $240, we arrived out of town to discover that a black shirt and a white shirt were hung together and the black faded onto the white. This was a shirt for the father of the bride to wear the next day. Needless to say since we were in rural area there was some added stress to get a new shirt to us (which we did at our own expense). Mind you the shirts never left the bag prior to our arrival out of town. Meaning this had to have been a result of something they did. Upon the discovery of said mishap, I called the cleaners right away. No answer so I left a voicemail. Fast forward over a week later and still no communication back so I called again. At which time Tracy did text me. She offered a store credit for the mishap but took no responsibility for it. She was not willing to credit our debit card the amount of the cleaning and the cost of the new shirt. I was NOT willing to accept a store credit since my first and only experience resulted in a ruined shirt that she was not willing to take responsibility for.....why would someone return for future visit to your store when you ruined a piece of their clothing? Makes no sense. After I expressed this and provided all receipts and call logs, she still would not take ownership of this mishap and said the conversation was over. This speaks volumes to the owner's lack of accountability and morals as a person. I would not recommend this store for any service because trust me if there is an issue, Tracy will not accept responsibility and do the right thing as a business owner/person. I would suggest finding a more affordable option with a business with integrity. Not sure why Yelp shows me in San Francisco, CA...I live in Gilbert. read more

I do not use dry cleaning services as much as I used to. But when I do I am very selective as they are usually finer quality items that are not worth the risk to some dry cleaners. I tried one closer by but they were so expensive and the person wrote total bill and not itemized, so you could not see what they were charging per item. When I asked for itemized, he read it off and did not write on final bill. Felt is was a bit deceiving. I looked up Island Cleaners on their reviews here and they seem to be a family owned business, which I like to support. I went in, turn around time fast and very reasonable and friendly and pleasant staff onsite. It is a bit of a drive but worth it. Will use them again. Thank you Island Cleaners. read more

We needed to have a couple of king-size comforters cleaned and had used a different cleaners and they came back with an oder that made them smell worse than when we dropped them off. I requested a quote thru Yelp and Tracy got back to me within about an hour. She then offered a discount but we declined as we haven't been effected by the current pandemic and the price she quoted was less than our last place that we had them cleaned at. They said they would be ready by Monday the 20th and I got a text on the 17th that they were ready to pick up! Really wasn't expecting sooner but was pleased that they got them done so fast. When I opened them at home and they didn't have any oder I can't tell you how happy my wife was, one of the ones was her favorite before our last cleaning experience. Was just totally ripped off by this cleaner....will not use again. I used Island cleaners for awhile and over time felt they were were pricey so started using Tide cleaners (happy with them). Thought I would try Island cleaners again since in a new location...what a mistake. Dropped off a basic white linen short sleeve shirt, said "launder no starch". Picked it up today, they charged me $5.89! I asked why so expensive, they said "we only dry clean linen shirts." They should have told me that before I got the sticker shock! Almost like a little "bait and switch" of upselling without telling me. Seriously, you only dry clean linen shirts......I usually wash and iron this shirt myself and it is always fine. This time I wanted it "more pressed" then I can do so thought to have it done professionally. Will never use Island cleaners in Gilbert, AZ again! read more

I've never gotten anything dry cleaned here, but I go out of my way to come here for my alterations rather than go somewhere near my house because of the outstanding service they provide. The employees are so friendly and helpful, and my alterations always come back with great results. When I was trying on my dress before getting it altered I accidentally snapped a strap. I didn't ask them to fix it because I just figured I'd fix it myself. When I got my dress back I found they had fixed the strap and sewed the other one as well to keep it from breaking. They really do always go above and beyond for their customers. Also they have some of the best prices around. I highly recommend Islands to anyone who needs alterations. read more
