The food was good & abundant, the drinks were superb! Overall we had a pleasant evening, we did sit outside & should've just waited for inside seating. It was too muggy! read more

Everything I had here was delicious. Perhaps the standout though was the refreshing horchata. They nailed it. It had such a great consistency and flavor. I loved the corn appetizer with the cotija cheese. It was a great take on traditional street corn / elote that I used to get in East LA. The tacos were very good. I think I might try a different main next time. Unfortunately though, I'm not in Phoenix often so this may be the one and only time I get to have enjoyed Isabel's Amor. Lastly, the musician that night was good. read more

Absolutely love this restaurant! The bar staff is so friendly and welcoming and the servers are very attentive. Any time my family and I go, we know it'll be a great dining experience. I'd recommend the blackberry sage margarita read more

The start was a little bumpy as they were very busy, but the bartender made a great recovery. The greeter also subsequently apologized. The chile rellenos were very good. I'm a bit spoiled as I've had them made from scratch from someone who lived in Mexico and New Mexico. Nonetheless, very tasty. read more

Third time here and won't be back. I ended up with a $125 check for a party of five and my taco plate was cold. Tacos, beans and rice were all cold. Yeah, serve the plate with a hot pad and say it's hot, but it's not even luke warm. The server was nice, but not worth a shit if they can't deliver a hot plate. We won't be back, I refuse to pay for crap on a plate. read more

We love this place! Had a late lunch today and everything was on point. My wife is from Sonora and we eat A TON of carne asada, but this was by far the best carne asada I have ever tasted...thin, juicy, seared to perfection. Even the beans and rice were amazing. Pineapple Jalapeno margarita and habanero salsa are as good as it gets. Great service to top it all off, I think her name was Megan..very nice and attentive. Great experience today. read more

Four of us went their for lunch today. I had the combo (taco with shredded beef and cheese enchilada. My meal came with rice and I asked for black beans. The meal was excellent as was the service. Others in my party ordered tacos and fajita. Everyone was satisfied with their meal. We will return. read more

Delicious food, great service, delightful decor/ambiance- and we love to support small businesses instead of corporate chains!

I don't even know where to start.... this place is excellent. The service is a 10 out of 10! The corn appetizer is right on the money. They carnitas are extremely flavorful. The staff really makes you feel welcomed. The place is clean and nicely decorated. Overall a 10 out of 10 in all areas. I will become a regular here as I was very impressed with the carnitas but now in tempted to try other items on the menu read more

Since my wife and I moved from SoCal, this has been our new favorite Mexican restaurant. The chili verde, carnitas and home made tortillas are outstanding. Some of the best I've had. To be honest I haven't tried much of the menu because these two dishes are so delicious, so I can't speak on everything.... but man are these two items good. I've never had bad service and the only wait I've had was when we came with 12 of us. I really think the people complaining in other comments are just people who are hard to please in general. The food is great and priced right and I recommend this to anyone. read more

New favorite happy hour joint! All salsas delicious! Street corn incredible and guac just as good! Love coming here!

Love this place. Their food is great and the service is really good! They also have a good happy hour!

Absolutely outstanding good and service every time my wife and I eat here. The atmosphere is great and the parking is always easy to get a great spot. This place truly is a can't miss. Make sure you try the cheese crisp! read more

The real score should be 1.5 stars.....Look, one thing that is crucial when you go out to eat, and that is other than ice cream or salad, your food entree should NEVER be served cold! My wife got the carne asada (steak), and I ordered the beef fajitas. BOTH entrees were cold! Now I know what your thinking, "You got fajitas right?, doesn't that always come with that sizzling cast iron plate?"....NOPE....not here, it came on a regular plate..and everything, even the peppers and onions were cold. The PLATES they were served on were cold, and I'm not saying warm here, I'm saying cold. Whoever was expediting in the kitchen should be fired to let these dishes leave the kitchen. The best thing about fajitas is that not only do you see & hear the sizzle, your food is nice and HOT! We never send food back like some of you do as well. We just shake our heads and learn from our experience to remember to not come here again. A restaurant should never let something like this happen. I dont know who is putting 5 stars on here for this place, but after what we got, I'm pretty sure these other reviewers must be friends and family....I Do Not recommend this place! read more

Great food and service. Good for lunch and happy hour. Prickly Pear margarita is great.

I've been here a few times, great food, great service, and decent prices. I recently just had lunch here for the first time and they have good lunch specials for $7-9. I like the carne asada burrito for lunch and the fajitas for dinner. The Mexican street corn appetizer is very good. The little churros for desert are really good too. read more

We visited Isabel's Amor after spending the day traveling just to get to Phoenix. It's a restaurant within a strip mall so while it's not large, you're also not sitting on top of one another. They have plenty of heating lamps for the outdoor seating area (but when do you ever really use those in the Southwest?). Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Their menu isn't extensive but has something for everyone. I decided to treat myself to a Mexican Coke and an order of tamales. My friend also got a Coke and an order of fajitas. My tamales lacked flavor but the rice and beans were great. My friendly only received one tortilla with her fajitas even though they provided plenty of peppers and onions. We skipped dessert due to the huge entree portions but they seemed to have quite the offering. Overall, a decent Mexican spot if you want something quick. read more

First time here today and we loved it! Food is delicious, I had the chicken taco for lunch and I thought I was eating in my Mamasitas kitchen, authentic! The frijoles dip was so good. My husband had the Mexican cherry bourbon cocktail, I had the prickly pear margarita and we both were very pleased. Can't wait to come back for HAppy Hour! Cute, quaint place. Hidden gem for sure! read more

This place is simply the BEST! Ownership is amazing, Alex the manager is so on point, Joey the Bartender makes the BESTT margaritas and drinks in general.. he's also such a humble and sweet guy! This place is a 10/10 read more

I've been here a ton of times and always forget to put a review do here it is. I have yet to have anything on this menu that I didn't find to be a wonderful. The not just Carnitas but the famous Carnitas plate is a huge plate with enough enough to share for two. There's a reason why this is called famous. .The carne Asada, the chili Verde. The only downside is this place is not in my backyard. I would do almost anything for their Carnitas recipe. Now mind you my wife is from Mexico and I've now got a pretty damn good recipe but there's is just better. If I lived closer to this place I would probably be there twice a week read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time and so glad I did! Love the cozy neighborhood restaurant vibes (I always choose local as much as possible), friendly service and delicious carne asada. I had the Power Bowl for lunch. Will be back to test out the margs read more

If you ever feel the need to proselytize someone's "taste" towards Mexican food I would highly advise Isabel's Amor. It's a good introduction to extremely well executed Mexican cuisine in a relaxed environment; i.e. no live mariachi band blowing out your eardrums, a clean restaurant, and well seasoned food. The menu options are both good for a novice and also someone with a deft pallet. From the four things I have had here (chips and salsa, carne plate, carnitas plate, and the churros) I would venture to say that you can't go wrong with anything you order. The borracho beans are a winner for me so I would recommend a plate that has those, or you could always get them on the side. The meat is executed very well and has that homemade taste to it without giving you that post-meal fatigue. I'm fairly certain the tortillas are hand-made. All in all I'm calling this place my new go-to Mexican restaurant. read more

On the classy side if Mexican cuisine. Try the beans with chorizo for an extra flavor boost. I had the taco trio and wasn't disappointed. Great wait staff. read more

First time patron . Starting with walking in -- the outside of building shows nice decor . Inside , bar and waiting area is smaller but gets the job done . We opted to sit outside as it was busier inside . Our waitress was great .. she offered insight to first timers . We got the steak fajitas and pick 2 combo . So not a ton of menu selections but as long as you put out quality food that's what count . Steak fajita platter was large- definitely take home . Lots of peppers/onions with steak . Only negative - it's served with 1 tortilla... not sure why ?? I asked for another tortilla. I also would add a green salsa side with it . We got the green Chile tamale / chicken taco -- the tamale was large and both had great flavor . Lastly we got prickly pear margarita. It's soo cute if a drink can be cute ! It's slightly too sweet for me , but goes down smooth ! My dinner companion loved the margarita. I would pick this place as opposed to others closer to mall -- food was very good ! read more

This place has some pretty decent food. I had a shredded beef and chicken taco. The chicken taco was really good, as was the beef, only the beef had A LOT of salt. The retried beans were tasty as well. The salsa had a nice flavor, but the chips were cold. Overall not a bad place. read more

I don't know. Everything is just way too spicy. Like everything. I looove spice, but when it's across the board it's a little much. The guacamole is a million times more spicy than even the salsa. It's weird. The first time I ate here I thought this but wanted to give it another chance. Unfortunately it was this same the second time. Can't say I would go back. read more

Had a great time here with my bfs great food and great happy hour drinks. Recommend this place to my coy and they also liked the food

If I had good service It would of been 5 stars. The food is amazing authentic food like my dad use to make. Also the Paloma is also one of the best I had. The service here was HORRIBLE!!!! Had to ask the busser for our drinks, as they were sitting at the bar for about 15 minutes..mind you our waitress was socializing with one of her tables so we asked a busser to retrieve, as he did. The kicker is they automatically add 20% to your check for a tip, which was not deserved. I was a waitress for many years and usually tip 25% if I receive good service. I just wish the service was good for our date night. read more

Overpriced for dry flavorless mexican food. My steak fajitas were terrible. Carnitas tacos were super dry and overcooked as well. Service was good and atmosphere was also good. But I would never recommend this place. read more

Soooo knowledgeable about your menu, offered togo boxes, offfered everything we needed. She was on her A game!! Thank you isabels and thank you scout! You were an absolute sweetheart and made our experience amazing we will be back! Btw!!!! Best bean dip ever. I am still thinking about it read more

This is the up-scale version of the Someburros chain of Mexican fast food and truthfully the food is little different. Well there is a very important difference actually, it is MUCH more expensive! Appetizer, two item comb with rice and beans and a glass of iced tea; $30! AND they expect a tip on top of these prices. The service was excellent, and I do not begrudge a server their tip, but one person having lunch no where near Scottsdale should never be a $30 price tag. Especially when there are so many other more reasonably priced options within walking distance of this this restaurant. What's more, the food did not reflect the price. The tamale was very good, but the cheese enchilada tasted of nothing but onions, even through the heavy canned sauce that was poured over the whole thing. Since it was a combo it came with the obligatory rice and beans; could have been paste and sand, no distinct flavours at all. Without a liberal addition of hot sauce, (which is quite good by the way and tastes just like the sauce from Someburros), they would have been inedible. Let's say I was disappointed, but never more so than when I received my check. I don't think I can bring myself to recommend Isabel's Amor which is a shame. They have great bones, but they haven't fleshed it out well. read more

I just felt like eating a Mexican dish and I happened to be in the area so looked for the best place on yelp to help me decide and wasn't disappointed. Clean and not too crowded got served quickly with starters: chips and spicy salsa. My choice of meal was literally from a recall of one of George Lopez's stand out comic sessions. I ordered carnitas. Never had them before but was happy I did. The dish was excellent and filling too. Definitely recommend the place. read more

We left after waiting about 17 minutes to be acknowledged by our server (outside seating at about 6 PM). This was after about a 12 minute wait for our drinks at the bar. Im sorry, the food is good, but I think it's unreasonable to have to wait that long! Go to La Ristra where the food and service are great! read more

My in laws were flying out of Mesa Gateway and we were looking for a place to eat. Overall, we read good things about Isabel's so we decided to check it out. They weren't super friendly upon arrival. We had a baby with us and they were quick to try to put us outside on the patio (however, there were actually a lot of other kids/babies in the restaurant..). The waitstaff was okay.. did their job but again, not very friendly. We started off with guac and elote. Both were pretty tasty. I had the carne asada torta. It was pretty good! The meat had good flavor! We tried the churro and flan for dessert, but both were mediocre and we wished we didn't order them. read more

this has been one of my favorite places but was seriously disappointed on our visit this weekend. I called them because they don't take reservations on the weekends but was told that getting a table around 6 should not be a problem since they hadn't been super busy the last two Saturdays. Family was here for my birthday and I wanted to go here. First they were packed and we waited almost an hour and a half for a table. While waiting we ordered drinks at the bar and never got a couple so had to ask again. we waited for them another 10-15 minutes. we finally got a table and ordered. again ordered drinks and had to ask for them again because server didn't bring them. got our dinners and for most part they were good. however my husband ordered chicken fajita and said flavor was bland. I ordered mahi-mahi and it was overcooked and dry. A couple of us ordered dessert and I ordered coffee. Guess what? They were out of coffee. What restaurant runs out of coffee? so sorry it wasn't good and disappointing that after bragging about this restaurant that last night it really fell short. Debating whether we'll ever try again. read more

The margaritas here are amazing. I got the tacos and they were described as coming on flour and then came out on corn. Over all great food and atmosphere.
