Went last night for a special birthday celebration with our guests from DC. The service was horrible. it took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks and longer for appetizer. After sitting there for over 90 minutes waiting for our entree we told manager we were leaving. we paid for our drinks and appetizer which he should have. covered but did not. The manager was not apologetic and basically said if we waited a bit longer our food would be out. it was already after 9 pm. -- so we said no thanks. He acted like he could have cared less. Another waitress (not ours) saw what was happening and was very apologetic. Our waitress never came to us in the time we were waiting to provide update. we asked her twice to check in our dinners. She seemed very inexperienced and did not handle the situation appropriately. We also pointed out that people around us came in later than us and were enjoying their dinner. our best guess is our order did not go in when placed or got missed. Things happen but how it is handled is what separates a great restaurant from a poor one. Ironwood has lost our business for at least six months or more. Our birthday celebration was ruined but we regrouped and ordered a pizza from Marco's. Thanks to Marco's for their fast service. we were starving We will reschedule the birthday celebration at one of Ironwood's major competitors since we no longer feel they care about our business. read more

We just went to dinner at Ironwood Cafe and all had fantastic meals and a great time! The staff was excellent and efficient. We loved our waiter, Jesse! He was friendly, had a great sense of humor, and was very attentive. The manager, Robert was professional and friendly. We will definitely be going back. Prices are reasonable for the food. Normally do not give out 5 stars. Not sure if it's New Years Eve, the wine, the food, the service, or the atmosphere but this place definitely has hit all the high marks of these criteria. Even though the menu was limited to only 11 entries due to the holiday, they were delicious and prepared superbly well. Especially the service. All the staff seem to work as a unit in providing top notch service to its customers. Really impressed with how fast and organized and well prepared each item was when it arrived to our table. We had the prime rib, steak, lobster, Pinot noir, and cheese cake. Even the bread was delicious. Can't wait to come back for the full menu. read more

Brunch is wonderful! We enjoyed sitting in the covered courtyard. The menu has an array of items. I ordered the huevos rancheros and it was the most unique take on the dish I have experienced. We went here for our anniversary dinner at 7:30 on a Saturday night. We called ahead for reservations & were seated on the patio as soon as we arrived. There were heaters outside, so it was very nice. The wait staff was very attentive & very nice! I had a sangria & my husband had a jack & coke. The sangria was ok, I've had better but it wasn't horrible. We got the soft shell crab as an appetizer - very different, but good. It came out with a dipping sauce that went really well with the crab. For our meals, I had the Angry Mac & Cheese & my husband had the Blackened Scallops. The Mac & Cheese came with blackened shrimp, red pepper, & scallions. The shrimp was GREAT - but my macaroni was barely warm. :( I know I could've sent it back, but I didn't want to be a pain. I stirred it up & ate the warmest I could find. The rest I left behind. My husband's dish was good also. It came with mashed potatoes (good, but different texture) & another side (can't recall what it was). All in all we had a good experience. Would recommend it, but will try a different dish next time. :) read more

This was our second time dining at Ironwood Cafe. I went back because I was extremely happy with the service and food. This time around the service was so slow, our food took awhile to come out, everyone got their dinner before I did. By the time I got my dinner everyone was done eating. The charcuterie board, the prime rib was a major disappointment, and I never got the glass of wine. The atmosphere and restaurant is beautiful however the service can be better! I was referred to this restaurant on my business trip to Pinehurst, NC. I was seeking a good steak and nice meal coupled with a great atmosphere and of course a very good wine list. There were 3 of us that attended dinner and have to admit upon walking in I liked what I saw. Ordered the wedge salad (good) and the bone-in New York Strip with creamed spinach. Others had the Filet and the Stir Fry dish. Have to admit, the NY Strip was below average; I order all my steaks mid-rare and it wasn't the best cut of meat and very thin. The server was amazing and very focused on ensuring we were enjoying our experience there. I will say that they were out of multiple menu items and I thought that was interesting since it was a Tuesday. Any way, I've heard that if you are seeking a really good steak, Ironwood may not be the right place for you. However, if you are seeking a nice restaurant with top notch service and an enjoyable time, you should try it out. read more

We had a wonderful time tonight! Courtney (I hope I spelled your name correctly) was wonderful. Great suggestions, perfect suggestions and excellent service. Thank you for making my parents Anniversary and my Birthday memorable. 7 Oz. Sirloin, while it was slightly over cooked, she made it right. (Even though my mom didn't want to make a big deal of it.) thank you! Sashimi tuba with sashimi. Yum. Just yum! The tuna was on point, perfectly cooked and loved the noodles with carrots and haricot verts. A little wasabi and pickled ginger. Heaven. Crab cakes. 2X. Both my husband and father loved them. Just enough panko to hold all the crabmeat together. Lobster bisque, those who had it enjoyed it. My children (both very opinionated, and quite frankly, foodies in their own right) enjoyed the bisque, but commented that there was a little too much butter. 1 of our daughters also enjoyed the soft shell crab. She loved it. Next time, she'll likely order 2. Dessert - 2 creme brûlée for our special occasions. Delicious and so sweet. Thank you again. We'll see you on the next trip into town. read more

One word for our first experience here: "Meh." It was good but nothing phenomenal. My husband brought me here for Mother's Day buffet with our kids and we were a little underwhelmed with the selections offered. Of course the shrimp, the tuna, and the lamb were excellent but they didn't have a lot of variety as far as any pasta, and real "dishes." There were not many breakfast items and the food was all cold. The dessert table was boring as well. It would have been nice to offer items such as stuffed shells, a nice chicken dish like a marsala, even a châteaubriand and more for the kids like French toast or pancakes. Our server was a twenty something with a chip on his shoulder, acted bothered to take our drink order and never even said Happy Mother's Day. All of the waitstaff were teenagers. Maybe we will try this restaurant for dinner as the buffet was nothing special. read more

Arguably the nicest place in Pinehurst to get lunch. Their outdoor seating on the patio is lovely next to a cute garden. I've read some other reviews complaining about the service and these folks sound impatient - it's a sit down restaurant, not a fast food drive-thru. read more

We ate supper with 50 golfers on Saturday evening May 18, 2019. We had reservations for 7 pm, It so very busy. Difficult to find this restaurant and parking behind the establishment was in a sandy area. Let your lady out at the entrance and go park. Very messy back there. It had s wedding party, H. S. graduation and us. The 3 Patios were utilized to try to accommodate all the dinner parties. Was expensive but quite good food. Our server Kevin was very polite and reasonable. Took us almost 3 hours to eat, (they were just so crowded on Saturday evening). This is quite an expensive experience. read more

I made a reservation for a group of 16 under for a girls state high school golf team celebration. The whole point is the dinner was we needed a private room for video presentation and speeches etc. I was assured we would have the patio and that if the patio was too cold that we would would have a private room in the inside. Upon arrival we were informed the patio was closed and that there were no private rooms on the inside. This is exactly the opposite of what we were told upon reserving the room. Had we known we would have gone elsewhere... they had the nerve to tell us they would set up a video in a super crowded restaurant ...,LOL This ruined a night of celebration and we were unable to pay tribute to our seniors due to this grievous over site. read more

Went there with some friends for a guys golf trip and left impressed. My first interaction with them was to call the restaurant and ask if we would be OK to wear shorts instead of pants and most of us didn't bring pants. The owner was as friendly as could be and said, by all means, yes, not to worry about it, so off to a good start already. When we arrived, we were greeted by a beautiful restaurant the reminded me of Mustards in Napa Valley--a beautiful patio surrounded by gardens that provided a beautiful and relaxing ambiance. It just got better after that. One of my favorite wines, Heitz Trailside Cabernet was on their wine list. I was in heaven. I'd never seen this on a wine list before, and to say it was a pleasant surprise is an understatement. Their wine list is exceptional and will provide something for even the most discerning wine lovers. The food is excellent as well. We had Caprese salads and everyone agreed they were outstanding. Entree's were exceptional as well--I had seabass and it tasted like a stick of butter, which is exactly what great seabass is supposed to taste like. Two guys got salmon and one stated it may have been the best salmon he ever had. All in all, a great visit to a friendly but high-end restaurant that helped make our golf trip even better. I really don't think you can go wrong coming here, an excellent choice when visiting Pinehurst. read more
