What was I thinking? Thought I'd try something healthy after 3 days on the road. Stopped by and ordered a Caesar Salad. Definitely one of the worst salads I have had. Bad service as well. But then again what was I thinking? Do not recommend. read more

We stopped there Tuesday evening, we should have had a clue that at 6:00 and there were 2 truckers eating. We had 2 ice tea, a smash burgers/fries chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes that looked old, broccoli that also looked old( it was disgusting) The bill was 45.00 dollars. Never again! read more

Stopped here passing through. Hubby ordered smothered steer burger. Which is a fancy way of saying hamburger steak. Ordered medium well. Came out rare. Sent it back. Came out rare again. Manager cooked it third time and it came out right. But then manager told us rare hamburger was perfectly safe to eat. USDA does not agree with that. Stay away if that is the food safety knowledge the manager has. read more

Best eggs and hash browns with a chicken fried steak and my son loves loves pancakes they taste so good make me feel young

The food use to be good it's mostly boxed or processed now. The service is horrible. When you go to pay, you wait for 20 minutes while they fill ice cream orders. There is one person at the checkout doing both jobs, even when there are waiters standing around in the restaurant. This is during and off time. I hate to see what it looks like at dinner hours. read more

That was a quit good restaurant. And they have a section for "truck drivers" only. That's very nice! The server was super friendly and nice. The food came pretty fast but not super fast as we expected. I have ordered a steerburger which came with 2 sides (I picked baked potato and a soup of the day). Steerburger was delicious. For my 5 day trip I haven't eaten anything that good as this dish. Highly recommend! Very soft and tasty. read more

Iron Skillet - a plate of food - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - York, Nebraska

Man this place is good. Im sure that I would definitely say that this is one of the best health wise restaurant that there is near by the the interstate I eighty. Iron skillet is pretty affordable for anyone. They have many varieties of different kinds of food and their salad bar looks amazing. This place has a lot of tables. When I walk in its usually full of people. In my opinion a lot of people has the same opinion as me. When I visit this restaurant, I usually order a New York steak medium well. It also come with salad bar and it is about 20.00 dollars. You can see a picture of a steak below the review. The meat is cooked amazingly and the steak is delicious. If you will ever visit it and you will have a trouble finding it, it is located inside of a Petro/TA truck stop. There is plenty parking. For trucks and cars. If you will find a service slow, just remember it is always full so try to have a patience. read more

Nothing brings me the happy start to my day like a good diner breakfast. I stopped here on a business trip and I feel ready to tackle the work ahead. I would take a good Truckstop/diner breakfast over the fanciest restaurant. Some things don't need frills, breakfast is one of them and this place does a good job. The coffee was perfect and the rest of the food good. They even managed to get me brown gravy for my chicken fried steak which is a big plus in my book. Except the hash browns which were under for my taste. Just needed a little more color on them. I'll be back for sure. read more

It's really bad food and really over price I got a bacon cheese burger and fries and food was cold coffee had something floating in my cup I thought truck stops would have good food I was wrong read more

Food was average and waitress had no concept of customer service or timing. Our group of 5 ordered at the same time and 2 of us didn't get our food for 15 minutes after everyone else. They had to do that awkward game of waiting for us to just get started eating when they already finished. read more

Since COVID-19, it hasn't been the same. It makes me sad on how much it affected one of my favorite restaurants. The food isn't bad, but it's not the same. There used to be a lively buffet, fast staffing, and a menu to choose from! Now, it's running like an "old-folk's home cafeteria." The last few times we ate there, my husband has found and bit down on pieces of plastic in his food. We have addressed the issue MANY times and we kept finding pieces or having bad experiences with it. Some staff members seem bitchy and uninterested in service; like just the paycheck matters and not doing what part of their job is: TREATING CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT! Haven't been back for a good while; don't know if I want to... read more

Used to be good but lately the amount of food you get has been greatly reduced but prices got higher. Service is mediocre and it seems no one cares. Don't waste your time here as you'll be disappointed. Go across the street to Applebees. read more

The food was great! Service was friendly and quick. Easy off the highway. Glad we stopped!

Waited for 15 minutes to be seated and was ignored by the wait staff and by person servicing ice cream.

The service was extremely slow. We were the only people in the restaurant. So why did it take 20+ minutes for eggs and pancakes???

Had dinner here on the 15th of May 2021 giving them benefit of doubt I had the chicken parmesan first try they burnt the chicken black on the bottom and still served it to me asked them to redo and instead of taking whole plate spaghetti and all just took chicken to be redone then brought me back at end of my meal another piece that was tough on the bottom like it was fried in a skillet and never turned over and close to burnt but just not black yet like first one was. I am a truck driver eaten this dish at many iron skillets this was absolute worse by far then any other anywhere the cook needs to rethink careers cause not suitable to boil water!! read more

Wome of the rudest employees we have every came across. On our way to a charity event we stopped with our non profit here for dinner. When we told them there was 9 of us they told us they couldn't seat us, other customers said they would move with our a problem to make room for us....the employees started throwing menus around and slamming down utensils once we seated ourselves. They acted like we were a burden to them and the restaurant. Will never come back there and will not recommend them to others. read more

They only get 2 stars because they are convenient, not because it's good. We paid 34 dollars and my husband threw half of it away. They sides even sucks! How do you mess up sides? read more

Iron Skillet - DON'T GO TO THE FUEL ISLAND!! I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY FOOD IS ALWAYS RAW AND COLD! I'M TIRED OF USING THE MICROWAVE WHEN I PURCHASE MY FOOD! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - York, Nebraska

Staff - hands down 5 stars. All of them were upbeat and friendly. Went out of their way to help you even if they weren't your server. Food is good diner food. It's not the best I've ever had but it certainly wasn't the worst I've ever had either. Prime rib buffet all you can eat (Saturday night) Our party did enjoy the salad bar and all seemed to enjoy. Many fresh fruit choices. We did have an issue with some breakfast sausage being undercooked on the kids meal. Server apologized many times and when she brought back new sausage she waited until we cut into it before leaving. Overall it was a great experience. Men's restroom has a baby changing station. read more

Disappointed. I am concerned about the COVID-19 virus. I called ahead to check if they had instituted safety measures. I was told that the staff wear masks and seating was at a social distance. Yes the seating was as stated, the kitchen staff did not wear masks and some staff wore their masks on their chins. The food was standard truck stop diner fare and the portions were generous. read more

This a good place if you need some comfort food. The salad bar was tasty, but some bacon bits would be great. We all had the buffet and there was a nice selection. Pot roast, fish, mac and cheese, fried chicken, bbq pork roast and mashed potatoes were some of the selections. Soup and rolls were available as well as dessert plates. The service here was not great and really that was our only complaint. Our server obviously did not want to be there, and seemed a pretty grim, bored guy. At least he was prompt in taking away plates and bringing the bill. Overall, this is a good place for basic eats. read more

Pleasantly surprised! Very fast and friendly service! The dinner buffet was very good. I had a nice salad, broiled chicken and baked potato that was better than any other restaurant I've been to in York. I'll be back. read more

Really good, friendly workers, will come again when I pass through! Food came fast as well

I only had very limited time here so I chose the buffet because it was quick. I usually ask for the check as I'm getting seated but had forgotten. I had only one dish, which was fabulous, even for Petro. I has some pulled pork with bbq sauce. Not overly sauced which was a great idea. I don't care for those super sweet sauces anyway. Then there was smoked beef. That was really unexpectedly good. Tender and moist. No sauce on those. Loved that fact. Tasted like steak. And just to be healthy, I had a spoon of green beans. When I asked the waitress for the check I think she might have thought I didn't like the dinner because I only ate one plate. But the contrary is true. Hope to return to that Petro soon. read more

Stopped here for a bite to eat on our way to South Dakota. Thought it would be a good choice to grab some food other than fast food and stretch our legs. We were wrong. Food really is not that good. I had the omlette and it nothing more than some flat eggs folded over with some loose meat laying inside the two folds. Very bland. Meat was overcooked. My daughter had the spaghetti and it was also bland and tasteless. I wouldn't recommend the food. The wait staff was friendly and the bathroom was handicap accessible. read more

Normally I would rate this establishment as at least a 4 star but I stopped in for dinner recently and was severely disappointed. Due to COVID-19 concerns I expected the buffet to be limited at best. What I did not expect was the dinner menu to be severely limited as well. Ended up leaving and opting for a different franchise restaurant with full menu across the street. read more

Worst restaurant experience in a long time- after 20 minutes our server explained that a cook didn't show up today and that service was slow- thanked us for our patience- no more communication for 30 minutes and still no chicken salad or breakfast item we ordered- when food arrived it was not attractive and taste was sub par- when I reported our experience at checkout it was reported no adjustments to our bill could be made as no management was available- no one would cone in to support staff- What a horrible work culture- will not be back read more

Everything was good here until I went to pay for my food. I asked the female employee for some ice cream three scoops. While preparing my order, she ran out of vanilla ice cream. Her manager came up to the counter and opened a new container for her. The problem started when he wouldn't put on gloves before handling the ice cream. He started to finish my order without gloves. When I informed him (meaning the mgr) to put on some glove, he got up set, but he put them on . He made a off the wall comment that the gloves don't fit him. As a manager of this business he should be following the health code to set the example. The female employee was nice. If this manager is at the top of the chain, he is setting a very bad president for the rest of his staff. read more

Took 45 minutes to get our food and they were not too busy . You would think for a truck stop they would get you in and out fast but that is not the case. BF ordered spaghetti and didn't care for it much. Don't remember what my son ordered but he picked at it and didn't eat much ,said he was full, which is little boy words for saying he didn't like it. I had a club and it was good but by this time I was mad, tired, and was getting a headache. So didn't finish it,, felt kind of like a waste. The salad bar looked good and that's probably the way to go if your in a hurry but it is expensive on Friday night. We haven't been here on any other night as when we are usually headed that way from Omaha its on Fridays. Good place if your not in a hurry and pick something good, ( had chicken fried steak long ago and that was good) .. bad place if your in a hurry,, they are slow,, move slow,, and don't expect any refills on drinks because it takes forever for them to get back to you. The food at Iron Skillet is amazing. The menu portion sizes are awesome and they have a buffet as well. I can't speak for the dinner buffet, but the breakfast buffet is delicious. Another part that's cool about Iron Skillet is that kids eat free with an adult from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
