On our way to Kansas, we decided to stop at Huddle House in York, NE., off interstate 80. Our server was a young lady who was new to her position Ms. Alexis. She was very sweet and kind and nice smile. She took our order promptly and ensured or food contained any pork product. I hade the stuffed hash brown with gravy turkey sausage, philly cheese steak omelette with hash brown biscuit and white gravy and hash browns all the way with gravy, coffee and water. Breakfast bowl had cold potatoes, no visible onions or tomatoes. The cheese slice was laid over the top, not melted. Coffer was hot and ice water cold. Go with your instincts, run. read more

A nice clean restaurant that is kind of like a Waffle House in that you can watch the cook if you want too. Mediocre food, clean place sharing space with gas station. Exceptional waiter very competent and keeps an eye on customers. read more

In a previous review I gave Huddle House a 5 star review now several years later I struggle to give it a 2 star. The place has fell into disrepair. The seat cushions for example are in sad shape and you fall down into oblivion when you sit down. If they can't fix the obvious things you have to wonder about the conditions in the kitchen. We will be going elsewhere in the future. read more

Well would love to say how good this Place is but that's not possible, get here At 7pm on a Saturday evening and the place is closed. Yes huddle house CLOSED, unbelievable. Most HH are open 24/7, you can normally rely on a good huddle burger and fries, but for some unknown to me reason, this place is only open from 0600 - 1500, that's 3pm to you non truck driving folks. read more

While on a long drive from Colorado Springs to Minneapolis via Omaha, we stopped by this place located with a Shell gas station off I-80 to fuel up and eat a very late lunch. We intended to stop along our route earlier for the 2 F's, fuel and food, but we were trying outrun a weather system threatening with heavy rain, high winds, golf ball-sized hail, and even some tornado warnings. We went through the fringes of the weather system driving through Holdrege, NE along Highway 183, and we encountered heavy rain and some hail...we definitely didn't want to get caught in the middle of that. So we bypassed stopping at Kearney and Grand Island and stopped at York after we felt sufficiently far enough away from the relatively slow moving the storm. Having lived in Hawai'i for the past 8 years, we never had to deal with hail, let alone tornadoes. Yikes! With the time change from Mountain Time to Central Time as we made our way from Colorado through Kansas and to Nebraska, it was almost 5:00 PM by the time we stopped for a "very" late lunch. Huddle House is a lot like a Waffle House...although this one is fairly new and didn't look dingy or well-worn as most Waffle Houses seem to look like. After looking at the menu, my wife was intrigued by their smothered hash browns...basically bacon, sausage, cheese, and eggs sandwiched between two "patties" of hash browns with gravy poured on top. Talk about a heart attack! I ordered the chopped steak (ala Salisbury steak) and mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy on top. All in all, it was a filling and satisfying late lunch. Oh BTW, it looks like this is the only Huddle House in the entire state of Nebraska...and it looked to be quite popular with the locals as we saw mostly older folks streaming in for an early dinner who the servers greeted like family or friends. Not much space at the restaurant. I'm not saying anything about other people from the road tripping anywhere but what about professional drivers??? When you stopping by at the truck stop where there is some restaurant available and want to eat food inside and there is no space, none! It's double frustration because you just spend your mins to go there, to park your semi truck then to walk there only to find out there is no sitting available... Please, add your section to a truck drivers only, so whenever we are here you'll have some space for professional drivers as well. We went to the next "Iron Skillet" and they have section for "truck drivers only". read more

We were from out of town and we definitely stand out. The vibe Towards my family from York natives made us uncomfortable but that was everywhere. We went early Valentine's Day. The staff here was very welcoming. Our waiter was a blonde with lots of tattoos. She made it very comfortable for us. She took care of us. Her hospitality genuine. The chicken breast was real the green beans were great the fruit cup was fresh, even got a baked potato which is kind of rare in a lot of restaurants I've seen traveling (many say we don't make them anymore due to covid)??? First off, there was only one waitress working the whole restaurant, i will say she was doing was one heck of a job. Given she was cashier, waitress, busboy, and greater. Yet, she was able to get the food out. As for the quality, it was fair at best. Ordered a chicken sandwich and fries, quantity of food was low for what is expect. As for the sandwich, bun was cold and almost to the point of being stale. It was ok, with a tomato and chuck of lettuce on the side. One thing when seated and asked what drink i wanted, was the laundry list of items they were out of, seems the delivery truck didn't arrive yet. Given there there is another truck stop only 400 yards away from this location with much better food, I doubt I will ever eat here again. Besides, there is a small town south of this location with even better food. Not sure if all Huddle Houses are this terribly run, but if they are, you know what to expect. read more

Stopped to have breakfast after being in Lincoln for a procedure. Was told they had no fruit but before we left the next table ordered 2 bowls of fruit and the server walked right past us with it ! Good Americana food, kinda like a Denny's or Perkin's. The service was a little slow at first, but we also had ten people who showed up in two groups (and I was in the early group). The running joke in our group was that it was called Huddle House because that was the only way to keep warm. I'm usually pretty warm-blooded, but even I was shivering. It had to have been in the low 60's in there. If you find yourself in York, stop at the Huddle House. Just make sure to order a cup of coffee or hot tea so your fingers don't get frostbite. Please do not stop here if you have any food allergies or other food restrictions. We stopped here with our grandson and asked about the chicken strips that are listed on their website as dairy free. We were told that the chicken strips are made in the fryer that they use for mozzerella sticks (ummm...dairy) and they don't have any other way to make them (no separate pan). The waiter was not helpful at all when we asked about ingredients as he told us that they don't have any of the packaging that the food comes in because they "throw the boxes away". Stayed in York for the night after a long day on the road and Huddle House was across the road so we got take out. Hubby had smothered biscuits & gravy and I had the adult grilled cheese with sweet potato fries and an order of BBQ wings. The waitress was extremely friendly, helpful, and funny. Our food came out fast and we went back to our room to eat it. Everything was hot and delicious! We both had leftovers and ate them for breakfast the next day. We were on our way to Seattle and dropped by to eat since we're out of towners I don't know what is a normal day in the restaurant ;) But we were surprised it was much better then we expected. Highly recommended by the lady camping next to us! But... when we walked in, no one even looked up. We sat down at a booth for maybe 7-8 without anyone looking our way. Then I asked the people next to us if they actually wait on you? They said yes, that they had excellent service and were sorry we were getting ignored. So we waited another few minutes. We were on an RV trip from Denver, CO to State College, PA and stopped for gas at the Shell station. We were going to go to McDonald's to grab a quick bite but my husband wanted to try the Huddle House. WOW! What a great idea. Not only was the restaurant clean but our breakfast was delicious and hot. The coffee was really good too. The price was right! Our server Diane was Johnny on the spot and the owner or manager, Todd was SO nice. He stopped by to say hello. We chatted up a storm. He even gave us 4 Huddle House cozies.
