Where do I start... we ordered the Rueben dip as an appetizer and let me tell you. Chunks of corned beef mixed with deliciousness in every bite! Wowza! Even the table next to us heard us and ordered it! Loved it too! Then my hubbs ordered the Corned beef and Cabbage. Beautifully plated and they are not stingy! I ordered the Roast beef and I think I had a half a cow! And the flavors were explosive and it's not even the Fourth! Then we Had to get the cake-Guinness Chocolate Cake w/ Bailey's Irish Cream Frosting! It's a dense, semi sweet, not too much frosting indulgence of a cake. I recommend you wear your "fat pants". Just saying! #delicious

Red Rooster was one of our favorite restaurants so we decided to give the new owners and Route 77 a…read moretry. Red Rooster was rated by Yelp a year ago as having the best fried chicken in Nebraska. It was really that good! So I thought the best test of the new restaurant would be the fried chicken. I ordered the 4 piece with mashed potatoes and white gravy. Unfortunately it was disappointing. The breading was off and it was way too salty. On this night it was NOT the best fried chicken in Nebraska. The homemade white gravy was over-salted and tasted out of a jar, unlike the delicious homemade gravy Ron made when it was Red Rooster. Two people at our table said the same about the meatloaf and dark gravy. The gravy was also over-salted and it didn't taste homemade. Service was unusually clunky and we only saw one regular server. Everyone else was new. The decor in the Restaurant was different too. Not bad but just different. I'm hoping this was a one off experience because we really liked the Red Rooster. I'm not sure why the new owners of Route 77 made so many changes to a successful restaurant that was already working well. I hope they figure it out. Last night it was not worth the trip from Lincoln to Ceresco.

I've seen better chicken sandwiches served at school lunch. Finally the nights special "Buffalo Mac and Cheese" was the driest weirdest Mac and cheese I've ever seen. It also came out as BBQ Mac and cheese served with the terrible school house chicken. Big thumbs down.

We arrived about 9pm and there was a sign that said kitchen closed, after driving all day we were parched and looking for a bite to eat. We asked if it was closed... it was, but they opened the kitchen back up for us! How genuine and kind! We ordered pickle chips, and each got a sandwich and a side, it's worth coming just for the double cheeseburger! It was absolutely huge and totally worth the price, tasted like mom made when I was a kid. Definitely homemade! We had two rounds each, and stayed to chat. We ended up being the last ones in the bar. Our server - Stacey is incredible, very sociable and kind! At the end of the night she bought us a round! The ambiance is your favorite small town bar! A pool table, juke box, casino games and beer signs fill the well lit bar. There were signs that mentioned this bar was for sale and sounds like the owners are looking to retire, I sure hope this bar has a long life, if not with the current owners then with new owners - this is going to be a new staple for us on our way through town!

So this is gonna sound weird and not like a recommendation but it is not meant in that way. Let me…read moretry to explain. Do you remember school lunch? Like it's not known for being the best but there were one or two things that you would celebrate when they came up every couple of weeks. For me that was chicken fried steak day. Forget rectangle pizza or sub sandwich day. I was all in for the chicken fried steak. Well I went to 9th St., Grill and the special was chicken fried steak. Now I'm a fat guy, I've eaten a lot of chicken fried steaks from a lot of places. I've had high end chicken fried steak all the way to the pre-cooked frozen bargain bin variety. but this chicken fried steak took me right back 20 years to being in school. It was larger than the ones you got at school, but exactly the same flavor, the mashed potatoes were spot on the same as well, even the gravy tasted the same. I know for a lot of people, that doesn't sound like a selling point. But I almost ordered a second one while I reveled in nostalgia. This is going to sound Braggadocious, and it kind of is, but once when I was in high school, when you could go back as many times as you wanted as long as you had money on your lunch card, when I was in the bottomless pit stage where a growing boy can never get enough food to be full, I ate 14 of those chicken fried steaks. The service was great, wait staff was friendly and fast. They checked on me and made sure everything was what I wanted. I don't really know if this review will be helpful. But I do know that I will be going back more Thursdays in the future. For a chicken fried steak/nostalgia night.
