Ok! So here I here I am a couple hours into Nebraska where everything is hiing on and I see a town called McCool. How can i pass by a town do cool or named by McDonald's. In this McCool town is Kerry's. I went in and it is a bar n grill. Bar up front restaurant part through a door. I got seated and sevice was quick. I kind of expected a menu but it was on a laminated paper on the table. There was probably 8 menu items and a couple specials on a board out front. I had the country fried steak special. Nothing more country than that. It was very good. I eould have liked fresh green beans vs canned. Oh well. Go check them out. The locals will give a good stare down but super nice. Go hungry. Not fancy but a nice job and u will leave full. read more

Only one other customer was there today when we drove 5 mi off 80W to Kerry's place. It was Sunday, and they had a breakfast buffet set up in the big room and lunch buffet in the smaller area. We had a fantastic lunch buffet for $18 each with tender prime rib, corn, potatoes and a make-it-yourself salad. Our waiter was one of the twins and I am so sorry to forget his name, but he did a great job. We ended our meal with delicious homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie Al a Mode! Yum! read more

Driving and starving from Nebraska City to Scott's Bluff, we needed somewhere to eat. Dave didn't want to drive the extra 5 miles off the highway to eat. So first he went to Micky Dees and it was 10:35. They stopped serving breakfast at 10:30 and they wouldn't bend the rules, even though it's Sunday. We Floridians are spoiled by all day breakfasts at the big M lol! Anyhow I opened up my trusty Yelp App and I found this lovely gem of a restaurant in the middle of the Nebraska corn fields. It is a buffet and they serve breakfast all day on Sunday for $11.00 including coffee or dinner for $18.00. We had a very efficient and pleasant waitress named Angela who replenished our coffee and took away our plates. Dave as klutzy as he is, got up to go to the buffet and took part of the table with him lol! He only broke a small pepper mill, but he did get the attention of the whole dining room! The breakfast buffet consisted of two different breakfast casseroles, scrambled eggs, potatoes, gravy, biscuits, French toast, bacon, sausage snd pork chops wrapped in bacon! Also there were sides of salsa, shredded cheese, syrups and of course fresh fruit and giant cinnamon rolls for dessert! So glad we found this lovely neighborhood restaurant as we continue driving through the state of Nebraska. read more

Ate at Kerry's on St Patrick's Day (Friday night), party of 11. We were able to be seated promptly! They had specials running for St Patrick's Day, in addition to their regular Friday specials, which included a prime rib dinner, which I ordered. It was FANTASTIC. I am visiting from out of state, and I swear it's the best prime rib I've had in my life, let alone on this trip! Served with a side salad and a potato if your choice. Fantastic place! read more

Wow. Just wow. We left Texas yesterday evening headed to Sturgis. Starving and wanting a break this morning, we stopped in Kerry's. This was easily the best breakfast skillet I've ever had. Chunky veggies and some thick, fresh salsa on the side. Coffee was hot and fresh. Service was very friendly. Will def stop in on the way back next week!! If you're on hwy 81 in the area. Super amazing place in small town Nebraska! I loved their appetizer, potato and cheese bites. It is definitely a must have! I also had the best French dip ever there. It is really hard to find a place with Au jus that I like, and this place had the perfect au jus! The side salad was amazing as well. The shredded cheese paired perfectly with the lettuce. It is a reasonably priced place as well. I just wish they had more menu items to choose from as it is a rather small menu. read more

Stopped here to eat, two ordered prime rib, one ribeye. The rime rib was perfectly cooked, however lacked any seasoning. You also had to ask for the AuJus and that was very bland as well. The prime rib, French fries and a mixed vegetable medley of green beans and stewed tomatoes made the fries very soggy., the vegetables lacked seasoning as well. The rib eye was cooked perfectly, topped with steak butter and had great flavor. My only suggestion is seasoning is key, and which salad , prime rib and potatoes, the green beans and tomatoes didn't fit in and there was enough food without them. Great people and even better food! Whether you do the Chicken Fried Chicken or one of their buffet specials, you can't go wrong. Tonight was my second visit and had their prime rib buffet for 19.99! The best prime rib I've had! I topped off the night with some fresh homemade apple pie and ice cream. I washed it down with a cold IPA from Zip Line. Cheap prices without sacrificing quality. Not a bar and grill, but a fine family restaurant with good food and pleasant staff. We were lucky enough to be there on a Saturday evening when a wonderful all- you-can-eat buffet was offered. A modest but more than adequate salad bar with a delicious nice and hot soup (chicken noodle tonight). Then the featured prime rib sliced to order, pork chops, corn, potatoes, beans, mushrooms with gravy, rolls and butter. The soup and salad came with entree so of course it was with the buffet tonight. Even ordering from the menu, portions were good and quality excellent. I loved my grilled chicken as much as my husband loved his prime rib. Only improvement needed were to have better cooked veggies and some tomatoes and cukes in with salad bar lettuce. Really delicious food, good portion sizes. They have weird hours, but we like to go when we can make it happen schedule-wise. I like that they take reservations and can accommodate larger groups. Pulled into town after a 12 hour drive and checked into the hotel hungry. Not a lot of options and most places in town, on yelp scored very low. Kerry's scored very high so we tried it. What a gem! Food was well prepared and amazing. I didn't ask but food seemed fresh and homemade. We had a party of 8 and everyone raved about their food. I normally don't rate service because it's subjective to each server and served, but since it was mentioned as excellent in other reviews I can't argue with that at all. Can't pass by this place. Any time we are west of Lincoln, have to make it to Kerrys. Great Prime Rib. Walleye is worth trip from home (120mile R/T). Chicken livers a major treat. The onion rings are the best I've ever had. The cheese balls (nuggets, curds - whatever you call them) were made from Scratch. Real cheese breaded and fried. So freaking good. Not to mention the meatloaf. They rocked it at meatloaf-- that says something. Most places can do a good prime rib-- you just have to not screw it up, but meatloaf, that takes skills! That being said the prime rib sandwiches at the table came with slabs of prime rib, cooked to order. We had a yummy chicken sandwich at the table, a cheeseburger and some kind of smothered cheeseburger whose name I cannot recall. Salad bar with soup was only $2.29 to add to a meal. I had a glass of pinot noir but they had merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and a shiraz also. One of us had a bloody mary - loved by the guy at the table who doesn't even like Bloody Mary's (not sure why we invited him! JK) overall very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere! I came for their Friday night special of unlimited fried Pollock for $8 and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was, especially given the price! I really didn't expect seafood to be fresh in a state that is nowhere close to the ocean but I'm glad to be proven wrong. This restaurant is located in an unassuming little trailer-looking thing in the middle of nowhere but well worth the trip if you are ever near the area. I was there early but a line started forming around 8 or 9PM so plan accordingly. Fantastic service. 4.5 stars (if they had it) Kerry's opened not too long before I graduated high school. 12 years later, we just moved back to the area and the food is just as good as I remember. Not for sure on this, but, I heard the chef came from Chances R (Which is one of the top restaurants in the state and 10 minutes away from Kerry's.) A couple of items such as the fried chicken and the rolls taste quite a bit like Chances R, so I wouldn't doubt it. Anyways, I went there last Sunday for the Brunch. I must say, I was VERY glad I did. You could choose the breakfast only for $8, lunch only for $13 or both for $16. I had the lunch only and it was plenty. Surprisingly, they had Prime Rib... Chances R only has Roast beef and charges $5 more for it. Along with the Rib, was fried chicken, roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, cheesy potatoes, and a couple other things, along with a salad bar. I didn't see what was all on the breakfast part, but, I think they said you could order omelets along with the normal stuff. For ONLY $13, this was a steal. I don't know anywhere else you can get good prime rib and all you want for that price. Only reason my review isn't 5 stars is b/c I don't think their potatoes and prime rib are quite as good as Chances R or Evening with Friends. But, again, for the price, you can't afford to miss it. read more

Just shows that you can't always trust existing reviews. We stopped by at dinnertime on Wednesday. Service was slow and hesitant; it was clear that our waiter was inexperienced and should not have been waiting the large dining room without support. I saw him carry in a dish with his thumb on the plate. We ordered the BLT and the French dip sandwiches. To call the BLT anemic would be an understatement...is there a bacon shortage I'm not aware of? Iowa has hogs, if you want to go get them. The French dip. Beef sliced too thick, au jus tasted like beef bullion (salty!), it was on a hoagie bun. French dip requires crusty bread. I also found it to be rather pricey for what we got. Travel up and down HWY 81 several times a year. Heard about Kerrys and decided to stop in for lunch last Friday on way to Wichita. Awesome small town cafe bar and grill. Food was excellent.
