We have been eating at an Applebee's almost every week for several years. We know what to expect from location to location. We were sorely disappointed in the quality of the food served. My husband ordered the Bourbon chicken and shrimp as he usually does; it was over cooked. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin medium well, when it arrived it was over cooked on the outside and medium rare on the inside. I asked for it to be butterflies and when it returned it was almost charcoal on the outside and it was in fact charcoaled on the tip. The remaining items were fine. I informed the server that the cook needed to lower the flame and cook the meats slower and lower. I was informed that they have had several complaints along the same line and the cooks don't listen when informed. There is also a staffing issue as were informed that they were lacking several servers. This location is in dire need of overhaul as far as I can tell. read more

After a long day of travel and getting hungry, and it being Sunday, we chose Applebee's over the drive thru fast food choices. We have a local Applebee's and we do not go there anymore because the service and food have not met expectations.. We were expecting just OK, however, the service was excellent, the food was served hot and great portions, and the overall experience and friendly atmosphere made our travel day a lot better. if you are disappointed in your Applebee's, the York, Ne one will bring back the good food and service memories of the past. read more

Ordered the 8oz Sirloin (well done) with mashed taters, it came out red, sent it back, when I got it back it was pink, ok well I will deal with it, first bite (with A1) it has a weird taste, hmmm 2nd bite (without A1) was just plain nasty, the mashed potatoes were blan, took one bite of them.... I cut the steak up in tiny pieces (for my dogs) the waitress Rhianna comes over, asks "you need a box?" Ummm never asked me why I didn't eat my dinner or if she could do anything else for us....she then drops the container on the table and darts off...my husband was super pissed, he left her a $0 tip....and he NEVER does that!! Awful customer service. Awful food. When I walked in, there was no hostess at the entrance/ wait to be seated sign. Three different servers walked right across me, made eye contact and went without acknowledging me. Waited 5 minutes until one of those servers sat me down. We travel through here from time to time and had a bad experience last winter - we decided to give them another try today. It took 10 minutes to be seated and there were only six tables full in the restaurant. After a 40 minute wait (we were seated) we were served soup. It took an additional half an hour to receive our food. When we finally got it, my pasta had a film on top because it had sat for so long and it was luke warm. The appetizer plate - we had it before at another location - was like it was cooked yesterday. They burned the pretzels, the wanton shells were fried in what appeared and tasted to be dirty old grease and the ribblettes were cold and only glazed on one side. You don't want to know what the other side looked like. Best way to describe them is gray... They offered to replace my pasta but who knew how long that would take and it's always really cold in here no matter the season. It is very uncomfortable in here to the point no one wants to sit very long. The server was rude from sit down and her attitude got progressively worse after I got the manager. They also messed up the orders of two other tables while we were here. They sent the mashed potatoes back because they tasted metallic. They didn't complain and nothing was removed from their bill and they were here 35 minutes longer than us. The manager is aware this happened to us last winter and again today. She reports a staffing issue. I don't suspect that will get better as the GM is in the kitchen to help out today I'd rather eat McDonald's...let's see if they take the crappy pasta off our bill. They didn't comment on removing the appetizer plate. Update- pasta is off but we had to pay for the crappy appetizer plate. Whole meal should have been comped. We should have stuck to the Jerky and Warheads we had for snacks in the truck. Hope this review makes you go somewhere else- I don't ever leave reviews. PS: this place so bad we told the people in the lobby waiting for a table to go somewhere else. They didn't know what to say to that. If you have to eat here. Get the French Onion Soup. If I could give 0 stars... Showed up at 7:15 pm on a Sunday night party of 5, and was told the wait was 10-15 minutes. As we were waiting a party of 7 checked in, followed by a party of 3. The hostess was terribly inept at managing the wait list. After realizing there were several parties now waiting, she attempted to write down names, however the names were written randomly on her tablet, rather than the order in which we arrived. I understand a party of three being seated pretty quickly, what I don't understand is that they were seated, are dinner, and walked out before we made it back in the door. Having to watch multiple parties be seated ahead of us when we were there first was extremely frustrating. Seeing empty tables, and customers walking out was annoying. The final straw was the party of 7 being called ahead of us, we protested, and were told we were "incorrect". We left...the trip to Wendy's had way less drama than this Applebees. Applebees, you can and should do better. You wait staff was looking pretty frustrated because unless tables are full there is no money to be made. read more

I was there Christmas night. They had a limited menu which I certainly understood. However, when the waitress appeared I noticed her long decorated nails. I pointed out that they were unsanitary and asked for another server. She called me rude and walked away. As I asked the hostess for a corporate number I noticed the bartender had even longer decorated nails. I walked out hungry as I refuse to eat in a place where poor sanitation is acceptable. Imagine what goes on out of view of the customer. There are reasons health departments place stipulations or certain restrictions on nails. The York district needs a new health inspector. Not an Applebees regular. First time customer here or anywhere. Saw all the negative reviews and thought it might be fun to see what it's all about, as we were staying at the adjacent hotel. We had a great experience! Start to finish the service was perfectly on point. Our server was great and I saw other customers around us also being helped efficiently and in a friendly manner by other wait staff. Food was good too. We were seated promptly, and our server came by a few minutes later with the menus. She also took our drink order. Our beers took a little long, but there was a group of riders there too who were keeping the bar tender busy. The restaurant was busy for a Monday, but the noise level was reasonable. Apps were 1/2 price, so we got the pretzels, which came out before our entrées. They were done nicely; hard crust and soft, warm inside. As we finished, our entrées came out. My wife had the burger, and I had the chicken, and both were good. Our server made sure we were doing well. Overall, just what you would expect. read more

Pretty good Applebee's! Entrance was confusing because we weren't thinking we had to go in the main door because the sign is by the other door. Great food and service though. Spinach and artichoke dip with salsa was still just as good as any other Applebee's. Drinks were very good as well. I really enjoyed both of the summer special drinks! I wish my honey pepper chicken tenders had less sauce as well. I just don't like my pasta tasting that much like honey. read more

We stopped for lunch on a Thursday. Freeway travelers not hotel guests. The hostess was engaged in a conversation with a co-worker and failed to notice our arrival for a couple of minutes or so it seemed. After being seated was told a waitress would be right over, well we were told that about three more times before one appeared. They were not busy at all and seemed to have plenty of staff. The food: my son had a bacon cheeseburger. The top bun was oily on top. Not exactly appetizing. The presentation looked good. He said it was lacking flavor. I had prime rib dip. The beef was way past well done. Cut with the grain, really! How incompetent do you have to be the get that wrong. It mostly fell out of the bun while trying to eat it. Flavor was okay but not great. The meat resembled beef jerky in shape. The fries, well they were great. Good flavor well seasoned. The ketchup was almost empty. Overall this was a disappointment. Seems like employees just don't bother with the important details. And whomever cut the prime rib should look into a career change or seek professional instruction. Our waitress was the most unhelpful and inattentive staff member who needs training on how to provide better customer service. Our food was cold after waiting 45 minutes. I've been twice. I hoped the first experience was a sad fluke. After my second visit, I now realize I will not return. The good: Salad. Fresh, delish dressings- caesar, ranch, and lemon olive oil. However, ask for your dressing on the side. I love dressing, and it was at least twice the amount needed. Broccoli. Fresh, steamed to perfection- cooked through but still a bit of crunch. A little sweet. Not at all bitter. Garlic mashed potatoes. Yum. The bad: Almost always a wait- surely because it's attached to a hotel right off the interstate. 1 star is generous. Waited twenty minutes for a table that was open and bussed the entire time. Then waited an hour and twenty minutes for my order of bone-in wings, which came out boneless. No one apologized and the manager did not say anything. The other person I was with also ordered wings as an appetizer, and we got those in under five minutes. It took over half an hour for us to get seated when there were plenty of empty tables. They were clearly short staffed, so normally this wouldn't be enough for me to leave a review. As we were eating our meal, we overheard the manager talking down to one of the employees that seemed to have a disability. This employee was working very hard, and was extremely friendly and patient. From my perspective, they were doing nothing wrong. A manager should never talk to any employee like that, let alone one with a disability who wasn't doing anything wrong. Completely unacceptable, and extremely disappointing. We were stuck in York for 2 days with no car so we had to eat at Applebee's. Now we were satisfied with some things but going 3 times in a row we noticed many inconsistencies for instance the French onion soup was amazing one night and the second night warm, not hot, and not so great. Not a lot of variety really. My husband wouldn't recommend it again but in a situation of "have to go"I would recommend it, the food choices certainly could have been worse. The Bloody Mary wasn't very good at all. The staff were nice and tried hard to satisfy but I do believe they were short staffed. Applebee's is consistently inconsistent we've seen clear across the country really. We've almost never had a great experience. I am quite limited on what I choose to eat so perhaps some of the more fatty high caloric items might be tasty. read more
