    Spicy chicken , Hawaiian bulgogi

The food here is amazing. I had come previously, I tried the lunch specials this time and COCO & KEVIN was an amazing host . Love how they came every 5 minutes to check up on us ! There was about 3 tables filled when I came so no crowd which I love . Loved the ambiance .

Iron Age is a cool KBBQ spot in the Columbia Heights, offering AYCE meat over a 90-minute period. My friends and I primarily ate the regular and Hawaiian bulgogi, as well as the spicy squid, but there are also several chicken, beef and shrimp options. For the dinner offer, the meal (not including extra add ons and drinks) is a little over $40 per person, after taxes and tip. In addition to the meat options, the servers came often to check if we wanted extra rice, sauces and side vegetables, which are included in the AYCE. Service was great with how often the waiters checked in and solid experience with Kpop music and videos playing in the background.

We arrived for dinner around 8 on a Sunday night. I was expecting for a wait only to be seated immediately. Service was friendly and our server was attentive. I ordered a beer and we started with beef bolgogi. SO GOOD! We also ended up ordering the spicy chicken, spicy pork bulgogi, shrimp, and seasoned steak. Our favorite was the spicy pork bolgogi because it was super tender and had delicious flavor. Idk what it was about this grill, but it made all the meat we had taste so flavorful and bbq-y. Ambience: K-pop was blasting in the background and people were having a good time laughing and eating. Dinner was about $35 after tip. This is probably one of my favorite locations compared to others bc they weren't rushing us to finish like other locations do. Will definitely be coming back!

$29 ayce per person, gratuity included for our 6p group. We liked cooking for ourselves. Our server Luis does good work. Watching Kpop videography while meat cooks is fun. Competitive pricing makes small inconveniences worth it. The single grill table is too small to feed 6 hungry hippos, but is perfectly ok if your appetite is reasonably hungry. Pacing was a little bit slow, but again, that's a 6 people issue. We will gladly adjust for next time (split into 2 groups, ask for next meat to arrive more ahead of time). We liked ordering the Soy Beef Steak and Brisket on repeat and will do that again next time. +++ Soy Marinated Beef Steak ++ Brisket (tad dry) + Montreal Seasoned Beef Steak + Marinated Squid | Plain Shrimp - Plain Top Blade (too dry)

Hands down, the best Korean food I've had in a while! The soy steak was out of this world, and the soy pork was so tender it just melted in my mouth. The atmosphere was really cool too, with the iron age vibes adding to the whole dining experience. Highly recommend!

First time Korean BBQ and it was pretty good. All you can eat lunch special. Everything was served just on time. I would definitely visit again.

So was the overhead music. Guess I expected a more authentic Korean experience, but the place was more or less an Americanized Korean bistro. Still, the foods seemed authentic! We ordered a few things to share... Mandu, Dolsot Bibimbap, and this Ssam Board. For drinks, my husband got some beer (?), and I got this fruity cocktail (??). First, the positives! The Mandu was really, really good...and quite meaty! The Dolsot Bibimbap was good in that it came with a generous load of fresh veggies. Now the problems. The Bulgogi in the Dolsot Bibimbap was problematic. It was a bit too fatty...and too chunky...and just hard to eat. It was also a bit bland! They should have cut it up a bit...or provided us with proper cutlery, like a fork and a knife! This is a pet peeve of mine...but nowadays, hardly any restaurant gives you the full set of cutlery. Just fork, or just chopsticks!! Then the Ssam Board. While it looked luscious, I personally had a problem with the meat. While I love Galbi, cuts of Galbi was all-out rare. The waiter didn't even ask for our preference, by the way. If I knew it'd be prepared that red, I would have ordered something else. If it was medium-rare, for instance, I might have liked this dish. My husband prefers a much more rare cut of meat than me, yet even he thought this was too red. Also, I expected something more than raddish for sides. Not sure if this "Board" was worth $42. We also tried this Black Sesame Ice Cream dessert. I loved the flavor...but nothing too special. Service was a bit off as well. While friendly at our table, our waiter wasn't too attentive...especially in the beginning. If he stopped by our table earlier, I might have gotten them to bring back the Ssam Board to cook the meat a bit more. Frankly, I was underwhelmed with the foods, the presentation, even the service. Overall, there were just too many things amiss (or just underwhelming??)...so much so that I doubt I'll pick this place again.

I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM and sat at the bar to catch the end of happy hour (Mon-Sun 5-7 PM). The bar was empty at the time, but a few other people showed up later. The dining room had a handful of tables occupied. In short, easy to get a seat. Drinks were good. I like the Somaek ($6) which is a small beer and a shot of soju. Beer ($7) was beer. We got some beef and pork mandu (dumplings) that were pretty good. 6 pieces for $10 on HH. We got two entrees, the Ddukbokgi ($28) and Yukgaejang ($29), which came with four banchan. Ddukbokgi is chewy rice cakes, gochujang, onion, and bulgogi. We thought it was only ok -- we've had better, including at Mandu in the past. Yukgaejang was a new dish for me. The menu described it as a "spicy beef stew, brisket, noodles, shiitake, bean sprouts, and egg." I expected the brisket to be sliced and recognizably brisket, but it was pulled -- it looked and tasted more like pulled pork. The dish also didn't have any noodles in it. I didn't like it. The banchan was seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. It was okay. Service at the bar was fine.

For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!
