While I didn't get the full tableside grilling experience (the food was cooked for us, which took a little wind out of the sails), the flavors still over-performed. The GALBI (first choice) and Pork belly (underwhelmed) were tender, the seasoning hit that sweet spot of bold-but-balanced, and every dish showcased thoughtful execution. Must get reservations are a must--this place runs at full capacity like it's standard operating procedure and due to limited cooking tables. I've been coming to this location for years and the food is always delicious, and the servers were always so attentive. if you want to try drinks soju is always a great option to share with others but I enjoy the watermelon paradise, and the lychee martinis. Not in the pictures but worth a try! They do offer happy hour from 4-7pm if you work in the area. For foods off the grill my personal favorite is the marinated chicken, bulgogi burger, corn cheese and Mandu beef dumplings. they have 3 all you can eat options even a halal certified option, but my favorite means are the bulgogi, beef briskets and beef steak! all the other options are worth trying but I'm not a big seafood person, so my opinion is biased. they also have a so-maek tower, which is 20$ off on Wednesdays! deff worth checking out with a group of friends read more

There is not a lot of kbbq in DC, but this place is well accessible and along the great neighborhood of restaurants in the Shaw area. I would see that they really adapted kbbq to fit DC palettes because their banchan has the staple dishes like nappa cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and soybean sprout salads, but then it also has shredded pickled dikon and a beet salad. While you wouldn't typically see that, I like that it makes this place distinct and palettable to just about anyone who wants to give kbbq a try. For example, where saam is an expected side dish upon table set up, here, its available upon request. We found some cuts of meat to be tougher than others. To mitigate that, thats why its classic to expect cuts labeled as "brisket" to be thinly sliced (sometimes even in rolls), however their cuts are a bit thicker side, but that's what scissors are for. It makes for a more generous bite of protein (but longer cook time). We found the pork belly to be on the fattier side, but their spicy marinated pork is a solid choice. Highly recommend to order their vegetables as you cook to break up heavy bites of meat. It was a really good vibe. Its along the street so theres a large window that makes the floor feel very spacious. Theres very little division between each booth so you can see other people enjoying their food. This place has halal Korean BBQ and it is *amazing*. As someone who doesn't always love beef, they have really great meat with lots of different Korean preparation/spice variants that are super flavorful and tasty. Great appetizer options (kimchi, rice, chili garlic cucumbers, etc), good mocktails, and you even get complementary ice cream at the end! I've walked by this place several times and was curious, so I finally decided to stop in for dinner. I'm SO glad I did! My companion and I arrived early for our dinner reservation and decided to have drinks at the bar. That was the best decision I've made in a while because sitting beside me at the bar was none other than the General Manager, Edin Alvarez. I only learned that after I had spoken to him for a while and told him how much I was enjoying my Lychee Martini. He informed me that the recipe was his own and gave me many other insights into the food and menu. First, the staff was a fun and friendly group. They all clearly enjoyed their jobs, working together, and making the customer happy. A shout-out to Lydia, Eddie, CJ, and Francisco! They'll be seeing me again soon. We opted for the AYCE (all-you-can-eat) option A. It contained beef, which my dining companion doesn't normally eat, but we found dishes we enjoyed between the different proteins offered. I have to insert a warning here - AYCE is REALLY AYCE and our server, Lydia, made sure she kept the food coming. She did her job TOO well because we had to ask her to stop bringing us more food because we were making gluttons of ourselves. She agreed to stop bringing out more food only on the condition that I try the beef brisket, which was the only thing I hadn't tried. I tried to say no, but she insisted, and I'll never question her recommendations again. It was delicious! It was so good that my non-beef-eating companion asked for a taste; even he had to admit it was amazing. We also had a salad, which I know is a weird order for a Korean place, but I just really wanted some greens. The salad was really bad, not dresses, not very edible. let me start by saying the service was great and they were super attentive and kind! However, the food was certainly less good, especially after going out to Virginia for Korean barbecue the week before. Meat was just underwhelming and they didn't have a lot of marinated options for the baseline price meal. Bonchon was also not the best and they didn't have things like steamed egg (at least from when I saw). One think i'll note is they have a halal menu which could be good for some folks! If i was coming to get drunk, get loud, and have KBBQ on the side, i have no doubt this would've been better haha. The restaurant is fairly small, but vibes were good and they were able to seat all of us and have enough servers to check on us, which I appreciated! Our servers were great at checking in and bringing us new meats as well as asking if we needed help cooking or wanted a grill tray replaced. I liked all of the banchan veggie side dish options. The meats themselves were a range and I liked the variety of options. The brisket and the bulgogi were probably my favorite, but some of the steak was underseasoned and desperately needed salt, and the pork belly was very thickly cut so it took a while to cook. The shrimp pleasantly surprised me with how flavorful, plump and juicy they were! The staff were really nice and also brought out complimentary soju shots for us as well which was a really nice touch. The food was ok, I've gone to a lot of Korean bbqs and this spot was a bit underwhelming. Most of the meats did not have any flavor as I would expect. The saving grace were the bulgogi and pork meats that came with the option we went with. The steak was flavorless and needed some kind of seasoning. Some of the meats came pre marinated and the chicken that was part of the option we chose was already cooked. The flavors were just lacking and we didn't get any more of that and barely finished the only plate of chicken we did get. The service was ok our waiter was really pleasant and got to us but it felt like she was handling a few other tables. The service was a bit slower than I would like and we had to ask for the meats to be brought out continuously. It felt like a chore getting our waiter to bring anything to us. We found ourselves waiting for a bit before we would get our next round of meats which left me eating the rice and other sides. There was a total of maybe four other tables occupied, leaving half of the restaurant empty, and it still took us an extremely long time to have the Staff notice that we were still waiting for what we ordered. that all would have been fine if the meat quality wasn't so poor for how much you are paying for the all you can eat there aren't significant differences between options a, b, and c. I chose to eat at this restaurant because I wanted to try Korean BBQ here. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and looks clean. I chose the buffet set. The food tastes good, especially spicy pork. The staff provided good service and were attentive. I was very impressed until it was time to pay. The restaurant has already informed that service changes 20% will be included , which I accepted. But when I paid and left the restaurant, I looked at the receipt and found that I had been charged an additional $5 for tip without my permission. First of all, we want to thank Javier for the amazing service and help during our dinner visit this past Saturday (9/28). He made sure that we were taken care of, and check up on us if we needed anything throughout our dinner. This alone is the 5 for the service. The foods were great! And so were the generousity with the banchan! (Was able to ask for more too). We got the bulgogi, brisket, and marinated chicken. Brisket was overcooked, but fortunately the manager wanted to make sure we were taken care of, and exchange the plate of overcooked brisket with another plate of bulgogi (per our request). The all you can eat option give you several choices of proteins however they only provide you with 4 out of the ones listed. In addition you only get your choice of protein once, thus contradicting the "all you can eat". The menu also does not indicate that you can only get 4 of the proteins. The meats were under seasoned if even seasoned at all. They include a 20% service charge automatically to your bill with no option to remove, . Now let's talk about the cocktails, we ordered a Korean Emerald with gin and Lychee martini however we were given juice for $15 & $16 each. The martini arrived at the table quite clear giving the illusion of having a good amount of alcohol, but to our surprise it just tasted like a sugary syrup. I wanted my companion to have options and this place had them. We loved the spicy bulgogi , brisket and flat steak. The sweet potato side was amazing. Someone recommended this place to my friend for his birthday, so he rallied a party of 9 people. On Gogi Yogi's chalkboard sign outside, they claim that they are the "Best Korean in DC". Well... probably because it's one of two KBBQ places in DC. Here's what I thought: -WAIT TIME | 1/5 STARS: we were told they were really strict on getting there on time for the reservation. However, we waited a solid 20 minutes... kind of uncalled for a reservation. -SERVICE | 3/5 STARS: service was okay. They weren't good at filling up our waters. KBBQ is some hot and salty business. Please be better about this. However I will say they were good about refilling panchan - the little side dishes -QUALITY | 5/5 STARS: I guess this is where the "Best Korean in DC" claim comes from. Though the options are limited for the cheapest option for all you can eat, I have no complaints about the quality. A+; they even give a shot of soju and a creamy coconut ice cream bar at the end. Unfortunately, the food quality had deteriorated after COVID. What used to be delicious banchan (pickled cucumber and radish, etc) had less preparations than before and doesn't seem pickled anymore; rather, it is dry. Also, the meat doesn't have much flavor, especially the pork belly, which taste bland. The one thing that I enjoyed is the octopus, which tasted the same as when I had it before COVID. It is on the smaller side but that could also be because there were so many customers at the time. Very cozy feeling. If you have a reservation, you will not be seated until all of your party members are present. In additiom, parking is attrocious. Much like the rest of the retail in DC, there is no specific parking for gogi yogi. If you go at a time that is not busy it will be much easier to find a spot. I thought the Korean BBQ was a bit subpar. The service wasn't great and the meats were paltry for the price, were easily overcooked if not carefully watched, and got stuck often to the grill. The banchan was a hit and miss as well (but at least there's something for everyone). The bibimbap was not great either - rice wasn't crispy, and the bowl wasn't hot enough to cook the eggs with the dish when mixed through. It just became a sloppy rice dish. The best meal though, which I have to say is worth ordering, is the seafood pajeon (pancake). It was thick, with good chunks of seafood, and was delectable - one of the better pajeon I've had anywhere. I would not hesitate to order this again for sure - picking this seafood dish over their "signature" BBQ. The bartender I met while waiting for a table was nice though.
