Strawberry lemonade
Lailah J.

Washington, DC (Dupont Circle/Downtown) - so it seems like new management recently took over this establishment that was previously called 68 Cafe, which used to be a Vietnamese & Taiwanese restaurant. It is just a Vietnamese menu now, no Taiwanese. I'm on a pho kick at the moment so that's what I ordered. Like their sister restaurant on Pennsylvania Ave (54 Restaurant), you place your order at the counters, pay, and they'll bring the food to your table. The bowl came out steaming hot with a lot of noodles. I still find the beef slices too thick but the broth was quite palatable. The restaurant is spacious and it wasn't too busy on a Friday night (in June so the area college crowd has cleared out), but there were constant customers. This experience is a lot better than the one I had at 54 Restaurant a few weeks ago which I gave 3 stars to, and the food seems to taste better too, maybe because it's more laid back and less congested and harried than last time. But if you like the food at the other place you'll like it here too.

Taiwanese / Vietnamese fusion place with nice dishes. Many dishes were out tonight (see below for special reason). Great service, very friendly, delicious dishes (though few). Apparently we came for group dinner on their last day at this location. They said they were about to move to a new location near Dupont Circle, because there's too little foot traffic here by night. Homey decor even if their name suggests a simple café. Their Taiwanese braised pork rice is delicious (comes with golden pickled radish). They serve Taiwanese popcorn chicken which is good, though the nuggets were huge (authentic popcorn chicken comes in smaller chunks) Too bad their Three Cup Chicken was out (they didn't have many ingredients since they were moving to a new location) The salt and pepper fish is just ok. Bathroom was clean!

Oxtail Pho

The Oxtail Pho is a must! The broth is bursting with flavor. Regardless of the season, I will get pho. However, I live in MD and this place is in DC. I make sure to stop in for lunch or pick up whenever in near.

Mango Juice (it was full when I received it)
Erin S.

Me and my friends came here after a long day of walking around DC. We struggled to decide what to order since so many menu items were enticing! I ended up ordering the Singapore noodles, crab rangoons, and a mango juice. Everything was flavorful and filling. I love anything mango so the juice quenched my thirst while being delicious the staff tended to our needs well, ensuring that our water cups were consistently refilled. I definitely would come back!

Eye Round Steak Pho & Vietnamese Iced Coffee

If you are looking for delicious, filling bowls of pho in the District, 68 Cafe is just for you! Came here initially because I was craving pho and was near Foggy Bottom. I was so pleasantly surprised with the large restaurant, clean ambiance, and kind/attentive staff. My go-to order is the Ribeye Pho - flavorful, plenty of toppings, and a savory broth that leaves me wanting more. Highly recommend trying with their Vietnamese Iced Coffee or Thai Tea. My servers have always been very accommodating and thoughtful, creating a great experience for customers. Love coming here for a hearty lunch at an affordable price! 68 Cafe is my new favorite place!

Seems like they got a new menu, and the quality of foods has gotten improved A LOT!!!! My friend and I stopped by again for lunch and ordered Shaking Beef and Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Lord they are tasty!!!!! For the Shaking Beef, they marinated the beef well, and it seen they deep fried the meat with some potatoes, bell peppers and onion first, and then, I guess they put everything in a wok to finish up with some seasoning. By the end they put everything on top of some salad/vegetables with refreshing/vinaigrette dressing! The combination is so good and I think I had orgasm in my mouth after the first bite. YOU MUST TRY!!! The Salt & Pepper Shrimp is also very good. It has a good salty-ness with the good aroma from the white pepper. You can also taste the freshness of the shrimp. If I'm not working after, I'd order a beer to go with both dishes!!! I will definitely go back again to try some Clay Pot dishes. Highly recommend!!! Oh!!! Forgot to mention, also just learnt that they have breakfast menu too (The Menu, attached), and seems like some interesting and delicious choices. Will also stop by next time to give it a try!

I was excited to try this new pho restaurant, but unfortunately, the Pho itself was mediocre. The broth did not taste fresh or authentic, and felt like it was made using packaged soup base. I do appreciate that the veggies were super fresh though. Service was fine, but didn't expect much from a fast casual restaurant! The restaurant itself was clean!

9.Pho Fillet

The food came out very fast. Service was not as horrible as another recent reviewer experienced. The pho was not disappointing, but it was not enough to fill me up and I'm a petite female. So if you have big appetite, you may need at least an appetizer to go with it. Overall, it was good for a chili and rainy day.

Singapore Noodles with Shrimp
Michelle B.

Take order of Singapore noodles with shrimp. Food was ready in less than 10 min. Server was nice and even brought me a cup of water to go. Really good! The dish was a bit spicy so I really needed that water. Next time I may ask can I get the dish mild. I'm a light weight when it comes to hot food.

I would like to say this was an awesome experience. My husband and I were doing a little shoe shopping downtown and he was like hey... I want some Chinese food. So I looked on Yelp and I said how about some Vietnamese fusion? He said yes I'm in. So we walked around the corner and there it was. When we walked in there was only one other table in there so I was a little worried. But the reviews were great so I was like yeah let me sit down. We were greeted by Jack, who was amazing by the way. Then we got right down to business. I ordered some summer spring rolls, a combination beef Pho, and my favorite oldie but a goodie shrimp fried rice. The spring rolls came out first and that was a delicious start. Filled with flavorful noodles, big juicy shrimp, sweet lettuce with peanut sauce on the side. They were very tasty . My husband got his Pho next and it smelled delicious. Not only did it smell delicious. It tasted delicious. Nice broth with a great flavor with lots of noodles. It had some of that tasty little oil on the top. Yummy. I love Pho and I know a good one when I taste it, and this was one. My shrimp fried rice came out in a huge bowl with all the goodies. One unexpected thing was on the side of my shrimp Fried rice was what I thought was like jicama or something and it turned out to be Asian pear. Oh my gosh! It was so delicious. I never seen anybody add some Asian pear to the shrimp fried rice. That was some of the best shrimp fried rice I've ever had. If I order some shrimp fried rice somewhere else...it better have that Asian pair on the side. This place has really good food. Even though it's located in the downtown business area it's open on weekends and you can call up for delivery. So check them out!

The pho combo, takeout version. Hot broth in a separate container. Basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, lime, sriracha, and hoisin sauce in bag.
Celina G.

New business serving Vietnamese/Chinese/Japanese food that just opened up. Take advantage of the 15% your order for a limited time! I got the takeout pho combo. I'm not a pho expert, but it hit the spot for me without having to cross the river. Service was very nice. They gave me the option of my broth in a separate container from the bowl of noodles and meet. There are plenty of tables and space inside to sit. Takeout service was actually quick and the bags/containers were secure for transporting. The hot broth helps cook the meet. After pouring all of it in the bowl, I had leftover broth, nearly half, still in the container. It's not on the online menu, but you can order Viet-Cajun crawfish. It's that time of year and I would like to come back to try it. I'm not sure how many people are coming back to the office in the Golden Triangle area, but I hope this new restaurant gets enough foot traffic and business.

It's gorgeous. The seats are well arranged, close but angled and not overly intimate. We ordered the tuna & salmon tartar, ceviche, a pair of salmon belly tacos, an eel roll, two cocktails, and they gifted us a celebratory small sorbet dessert. Every moment felt perfectly curated and thoughtful. Every member of the staff was kind, swift, and knowledgeable. The prices are high and the portions are small, so be warned. Definitely will feel a bit of sticker shock but it's excellent for a celebration. Above all, the tartar was a crowd favorite and we cannot wait to return!

Shōtō is one of DC's most striking Japanese dining experiences, equal parts upscale restaurant and high‑energy nightlife spot. The moment you walk in, you're hit with dramatic lighting, a sleek volcanic‑stone aesthetic, and a buzzy crowd that's clearly here to make a night of it. If you're looking for quiet, this isn't your place; if you're looking for a vibe, you've found it. The food is genuinely impressive. The robata‑grilled dishes are the stars, especially the short rib with chili‑soy glaze and the wagyu cuts that arrive perfectly caramelized. Sushi is clean, fresh, and beautifully presented; the hamachi and tacos are crowd favorites for a reason. The omakase is high‑quality, though ordering à la carte gives you more freedom to explore the menu's highlights. Don't skip the lobster tempura or the black cod gyoza. These are two of my absolute favorites! Service is polished and knowledgeable, though it can be a bit inconsistent on busy nights. The dress code is enforced, so come prepared...this is not a sneakers‑and‑hoodie kind of spot. Glam up! Prices are undeniably steep, and portions lean small, but the overall experience, food, atmosphere, and presentation, makes it feel like a worthwhile splurge for celebrations, date nights, or anyone who enjoys a lively, modern Japanese dining scene. If you want a quiet, traditional meal, look elsewhere. If you want great food wrapped in a high‑energy, beautifully designed setting, Shōtō delivers. Yes to this place! Over and Over AGAIN!

Dessert - Doughnuts: I wish the donuts were just the tad bit sweet, but the jelly on the bottom makes it all worthwhile. The pistachio gelato really brings it all together. Coffee cheesecake: Excellent! Lots of fresh fruits and I enjoyed more it with every bite. The service is always excellent and Anju is one of my favorite restaurants in DC!

I made RSVP for this Korean restaurant on a Sunday evening...and it was bustling!…read more Despite RSVP for the main room, we got seated in an extended part of the room (more like an indoor patio?)...so frankly, the ambiance was a bit off for me. So was the overhead music. Guess I expected a more authentic Korean experience, but the place was more or less an Americanized Korean bistro. Still, the foods seemed authentic! We ordered a few things to share... Mandu, Dolsot Bibimbap, and this Ssam Board. For drinks, my husband got some beer (?), and I got this fruity cocktail (??). First, the positives! The Mandu was really, really good...and quite meaty! The Dolsot Bibimbap was good in that it came with a generous load of fresh veggies. Now the problems. The Bulgogi in the Dolsot Bibimbap was problematic. It was a bit too fatty...and too chunky...and just hard to eat. It was also a bit bland! They should have cut it up a bit...or provided us with proper cutlery, like a fork and a knife! This is a pet peeve of mine...but nowadays, hardly any restaurant gives you the full set of cutlery. Just fork, or just chopsticks!! Then the Ssam Board. While it looked luscious, I personally had a problem with the meat. While I love Galbi, cuts of Galbi was all-out rare. The waiter didn't even ask for our preference, by the way. If I knew it'd be prepared that red, I would have ordered something else. If it was medium-rare, for instance, I might have liked this dish. My husband prefers a much more rare cut of meat than me, yet even he thought this was too red. Also, I expected something more than raddish for sides. Not sure if this "Board" was worth $42. We also tried this Black Sesame Ice Cream dessert. I loved the flavor...but nothing too special. Service was a bit off as well. While friendly at our table, our waiter wasn't too attentive...especially in the beginning. If he stopped by our table earlier, I might have gotten them to bring back the Ssam Board to cook the meat a bit more. Frankly, I was underwhelmed with the foods, the presentation, even the service. Overall, there were just too many things amiss (or just underwhelming??)...so much so that I doubt I'll pick this place again.

The pollo siu mai has like a salsa in it that was very unique but not my favorite. The Aji de Gallina was very hearty and comforting. The chicken pieces themselves were fine but the stew was so delicious. The real star of the show was the dessert: ponderaciones de kiwicha! The drink and food I'd say is pretty standard. The Lomo Saltado dish, however, I'd say that it's just a bit too salty, and the beef steak is slightly overdone, but only slightly. So I'd still give it a 4/5. Overall, I thought it's a beautiful space and nice dining experience and I'd still recommend it to others, just not on the top of my list.
