Irie Island Eats may be Marathon's best food truck. The truck is stationary and located in a nice, large patio with tropical seating. The specialty here is the rice bowl -- can choose a base, a style (which determines the slaw and dressings), and protein toppings. Our tropical bowl featuring BBQ chicken on a bed of coconut rice and two tangy dressings was one of my favorite meals we had on Marathon. The tacos are also quite good, but if you're just choosing one item I would go with a bowl. The BBQ has a fruity marinade that will make you feel you are eating in Hawaii. There are also a number of vegetarian options available. One drawback of eating outside here is that some tables do have a few ants -- fortunately we were able to find one that was devoid of any ant picnickers! read more

Lucky enough to find this hidden gem. It's basically a food truck set back beaches trees and bamboo with hidden seating areas sprinkled throughout off the main highway. Atmosphere was fantastic, staff laid back but efficient.. I got the poke bowl with coconut rice, my wife the poke lettuce wraps and our son got the jerk chicken bowl with noodles. He also got a fresh smoothie! Some of the most amazing food we've ever had. The poke was so flavorful and fresh I can't ever remember having better. We really enjoyed coming here. First of all can I say just the ambience itself is so awesome. It's a food check right next to a fruit stand and it has such a tropical vibe. It's like right in the middle of a garden. All of the food styles are very Island style. They definitely have a little bit of a sweeter taste. The food is really good and the girl that's always working seems like such a sweetheart. We've had all kinds of food from here. We love the bowls I've had the tacos my kids left the quesadillas. Honestly anything hair is good they add a lot of flavor to everything. If you come here you definitely won't be disappointed. Cons: Limited parking because it's being discovered by locals and tourists alike. No alcohol. The Hot Blond Wife and I stopped in yesterday for lunch after hearing friends rave about this joint. We were not disappointed. For $10-$15 each, you will have the meal of your life (if not the meal of your week). I was surprisingly underwhelmed by our food from here. My boyfriend and I were so excited to try this place because of all the great reviews and hearing they were recently on the food network. The outside space is pretty and lushly green, so we instantly loved the vibe when we walked in. The restaurant is set up like a food truck where you order at the window, and your name gets called out when your food is ready. I ordered the Irie mojo chicken wrap with fruit salad and my boyfriend ordered the Irie Hawaiian beef wrap with the key like slaw. Let me start off by saying the sides were absolutely horrible. My fruit salad was a goopy mess and inedible. My boyfriend's slaw was pretty much dry and had no flavor. The wraps themselves were also pretty unimpressive. For all the flavors and ingredients listed, I didn't really taste much of it. I am 100% Jamaican , so I expect a lot of flavor in my food, and this just didn't have it. My boyfriend said the Hawaiian beef was seasoned well, but the rest of wrap was pretty underwhelming. I always believe in trying a restaurant twice before making a decision, so we will definitely go back and try some different menu items. Maybe we went on an off day, or didn't make the best choices, so we will try again. Even if after the second time we don't love the food, we would definitely go back just for a drink or two because the ambience is really great. read more

This is by far the best place to eat on the Keys. I heard about it from a waiter at Sparky's in Marathon (another great place to eat). He said this is his favorite place to eat. It is a food truck with a very nice setting under tents with plenty of vegetation and tables to sit with music and bark on the ground. We had the jerk shrimp bowl and Hawaiian beef bowl and pork wrap and it was the best food I've had so far. They are only open till 4 so plan a lunch and don't miss this hidden gem. Fantastic! First we went at 4:10 and we didnt realize they closed at 4, but he was willing to stay open for us....but we said we woudl be back for lunch the next day, and it was fantastic! First, it is a great looking place. You feel like you have left the highway and are on a caribian island. Then the people, so friendly and helpful....then the food.....fantastic! In some ways I am sorry we didnt "find" it on our first day, and in some ways I am not. If we had gone there our first day I dont think we would have eaten anywhere else :-) AND they have wonderful vegetarian options!!! read more

Stopped by for a late lunch and had such a hard time choosing!! There are plenty of options for every type of person, the full menu is online for those curious. I chose a tuna irie bowl on veggies, I wish I had taken a picture but it was gone before I even remembered! The tuna was the perfect poke flavor, nicely seasoned to balance the mellowness of the tuna. The veggies were super fresh and crunchy, still warm from being sautéed right then and there. Plus, huge bonus, the avocado was perfectly soft and ripe without being brown at all, hard to find that. My only gripe was that the sauce in the bottom was super liquidy and warmed up everything else, when I go back I would probably swap for the slaw as I liked the little bit I found in my bowl. But I should've known warm veggie with cold tuna would be a little weird. Overall you get what you pay for and I'm already excited to go back and try a new flavor combo, or maybe even some tacos. Highly recommend you check it out, don't sleep on this food truck. read more
